Title: Easter Celebration?
Post by: Jinxiewinxie on April 15, 2019, 02:25:31 PM
Would anyone use Easter/Spring related deco pieces and maybe a little park? I've seen some Halloween decorations before and folks asking for Thanksgiving related ones. I could put together something pretty quickly if there's any interest.

I've attached some pictures of a prototype park (just adds happiness, no workers) that shows like, an Easter Egg Hunt type event happening.

There's a person in a rabbit suit (kids like that, right?) and other little eggs/eggs in baskets and a tree so far as part of the building.

;D  Oh, that is rather cute, maybe build it next to the school. Season deco I think would be well liked  :)  I would not mind some Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations also.  :)

Welp, looks like its just you and me, Abandoned XD I'm still gonna make it, heh.

Here's a sneak peak of some placeable citizens mixed in with real ones:

I'll post future updates over in my WIP thread =)

Seasonal park for happiness and deco citizens, what a good idea  :)  Those will come in handy, and there are seasonal possibilities too.  Maybe even pirates.  :)  The deco citizens look really good.

What about ghosted sitting citizens? We have many benches, tables with chairs, etc., but nobody can sit on them.

That's why I needed to make my own @JM - the base game ones only show up in that one position with their arms flying XD

I like that idea to have some deco sitting citizens   :)  I hope it is possible to make without too much difficulty.

Am i too late?
If you're making new citizens, can i suggest you to make some suit wearing gentleman's, not only placeable, but walking too.

Here's my try at adding some "suits" to replace two of the male citizen outfits and then I added a couple deco fellas. I'm not able to make a real walking new item.. just replace the base game textures on the male bannies:

The 5 up front are the deco ones. Suits are pretty difficult because everything is so tiny, you can't even tell what they have on really outside of like.. a color.. but I tried.

I made a quick mod for you that only has the deco people and the two outfit replacers and uploaded it to this post. I've also attached the images that are used in game for these guys, in case you want to try your hand at recoloring/changing the outfits yourself =) Let me know if you do and I'll package up the mod again with your updated version of the texture.

I have made some suits for bannies. Bannies with suit, others with original outfit. Not sure how they look in the game, stupid, ok or more stupid.  :D
But here it is.

OH MY HEAVENS! You did an amazing job on the suits! They look WAY MORE than ok in the game, they look perfect! Wow! Here's a screenshot:

Do you want me to repackage the mod with this new texture or maybe do you want to add a couple more suits first since it looks so great?

For the deco/statue people, we could totally have hats =D Just not on the walking around ones XD

I think those bannies would need some hats, homburgs, top hats, straw hats, bowlers to make them look like older times, but since those base game people are without, we´ll have to life without hats then.

Here's a deco lady with a black hat on to make her look like a witch for Halloween:

Very nice!  :) I hope that witch is more nice, like Veronica Lake in I Married a Witch.  :D
Top hat and straw boater are easy to make in blender, something like flat cap is little harder.
Is that  bird raven?
Iv made some new designs. I put some boots on one, not sure if it works, but if you think all new clothes look fine, you can finalise this mod for me.
One thing come to mind, is it possible to make the base game texture people use like 16 different outfits, beside those eight?
Maybe ill try later do some different female clothes for bannies, but what i got in my mind, it might be too hard.  I don't mean that i expect you to use your time for me again, for lots in a future. All this is enough, if you make this new suits mod for me. Thank you.  :)

Its totally a raven! Abandoned called it, heh XD I don't see a way to add any other citizen textures, other than like.. having different ones for different games and turning on/off citizen texture mods. The files don't really show how the models point to the parts of the texture that's used.. in other games I've modded, I've been able to just extend the spritesheet to add extra options and those games will automatically pick up on the idea that the sheets larger and has more data to display but I don't think the way Luke's coded Banished works the same way.

I've attached a new version of your mod that has your latest texture and then some deco people that use the same ones (=

It was fun! Let me know if you'd like any changes made, it's not difficult to switch out the textures or add a new one for the ladies to use if you end up working on the female texture =)

Since its not much work for you, i will make some little adjustments. Like those suspenders are not showing well in the game. And ill try to design some women bannies clothes too. Thanks Jinxiewinxie.

Do you like the deco people I made with your textures? (They're up in my toolbar in Decorations). Do you think you'll use them? I can take them out in my next iteration so the mod isn't so big if you like (= Or leave them, if you like them, heh.

Well... i dont need those deco people, not that they look bad, your new female outfits look nice too, but since i use so many mods, its better reduce size little. Those decos give me idea to change some hair colours too, and try some moustache without beard, even thou its hard to see any details in bannies faces. This is just so fun.  :)

Sounds good =) I'll probably include them in a deco pack of my random stuff at some point, so if you want 'em again in the future they'll be accessible, heh. I'm excited to see what you come up with for the ladies, the base game ones are kinda meh looking color-wise.

I absolutely LOVE those lady textures and I'm going to use this mod myself, heh! You're really good at the little close-in pixel editing!

I repackaged the mod with just your override textures for the citizens, let me know if you want to do any edits to these in the future, it takes like two seconds to add the new image(s) and package it up.

Absolutely! Its also easy to copy/paste my code into a new mod and just change up a few things (the name of the mod, the icon+description used in the modlist, etc. and of course the actual people textures that you give me). I'm excited to see what else you come up with!

Match them with women's clothes.

I second this request! I love the suspender look (but without the riding boots) and white shirt/brown vest combination =) More of these for the fellas in a similar vein would be awesome if you'd make 'em 1 =)

These new clothes look really cool  8)  Good work.  I too would like to see more common country type clothes, and also maybe a set for colder snowier climates - some winter type coats would be nice.

I do like them, but if there were more options to include, I'd also include an outfit with just regular farmer shoes at the bottom. The boots are neat, and I do like them, but if I saw too many around they start to remind me of the riding outfit ladies here wear for showing horses:

3, 4 & 8 of the lady ones are my absolute favorites and the only ones I think are a little so-so are 6 & 7. I wouldn't mind those two being replaced by a different color or color+layout of 3, 4 or 8.

Green would be a nice color to add in with these, since the set has the basic "colors" (brown, black, gray), a blue and a red outfit. I hope I'm not coming across as too ornery or picky XD

Maybe easier to work with. :)

Hi, I like the woman's dresses very much, nice for country setting,  but I do not like those high boots or socks on the men's outfits.  I agree with Jinxie that they look like riding boots.  The colors are nice.  :)

Phew! Apologies for the delay, I wasn't near my computer much at all yesterday. I really like this version as well! I don't think the "longer white shirt" outfit for the males looks too odd, you can tell its just a long shirt and I think the outfit fits in quite well with everyone else. The white pants with the gray/blue boots fit in really well, too. Doesn't look like underwear to me at all, haha! The new ladies dresses blend seamlessly too, you wouldn't think any of the apron lengths or waist placements are out of place.

The navy and white outfit for the ladies with the scarf/shawl looks very neat! In-game, it sort of looks like darker lapels from the front, I think because the top of the white sleeve goes over their shoulder. If you wanted it to look more "shawl-like", maybe add some of the navy color the top portion of the sleeves? But even so, I think they're all quite phenomenal.

I really wish I could just have all of them in one game at once, the diversity is great! Thank you for your work on these, 1!

I would put together 100 of these! They're so lovely and I really appreciate your hard work! If you don't mind, I might end up taking my favorite 8 options for each gender and putting them together as my own version.

One thing to note is that the Nomad texture is its own thing, so if you wanted one more outfit to add in your games for each gender, you could do that. The base game ones are attached if you want to edit them. They're just a single texture for each gender (so you could just cut out your favorite 128x128 texture from the ones you've made and choose that one to use).

Yeah, I think if you wanted it to appear more scarf-like, those sleeves need to be colored but its hard to know how much of the sleeve.

I just realized the name I chose for this most recent package is too long, it looks bad in the mod list =( I'll fix it with the next package =)

Those new designs, not looking good.
White with red spots, that's like butchers wife now.
Black with multicolour vest, not look what it post to, real model is very traditional style, but not show in the game like that at all.
But now i learn that game is just too simple for more complicated look.

I just love all the ones you've made but I think that's because for me they are all a surprise. For you, you may already have an idea of how you wanted it to turn out in game and then it doesn't quite match your previous intention.

I'd like to make the naming more manageable.. maybe like, Override for 1 - Suits and Override for 1 - Rural etc. etc. once you have some finished sets you like so that they're easier to keep track of for you in the mod list. Do you like the icon that they're using? Its just a "1" because I'm not creative, haha XD

it wasn't really a request to make you work. however,i do use many small villages so farmers and mountain men woud go with them. the game restricts us so much.it would be nice if we could pick and choose  clothing by job. it has been neat to watch the 2 of you develop these sets.

These new outfits are terrific, thank you both.  :) I would like a set that looks more wintery and a pirate set also, when you have time and are ready to work on another set, no rush.  A Native American set would be nice, as brads3 suggested, but I don't know how much it would be used.  There are so few Native American items to use for a whole map of Native settlements.  Perhaps some deco pirates and Natives would be useful also.

These clothing overrides and deco people are a wonderful addition to the game. Thanks again.

Oh! I think that's just how the game works, as soon as you accept them, the nomads become citizens and then a random outfit from the Citizen file is chosen for them.

Here's base game nomads before I accept them:

and then just after I accept them:

They switched outfits to one of the ones in the citizen image.
Title: Re: Easter Celebration?
Post by: Jinxiewinxie on May 13, 2019, 03:49:27 PM
Aww gosh, I'm sorry =( On the plus side, the nomad textures are another "outfit square" that you can use on another image sheet for the citizens too =D All the ones you've made can be intermingled, so its not wasted effort at all. You've really made some neat looking outfits!
Title: Re: Easter Celebration?

Thanks for this work, they look incredible! I'm going to sort through the versions and make up a 'fashion' timeline so that my citizens will wear different styles throughout the periods.
Lovely stuff!
Title: Re: Easter Celebration?
Post by: Artfactial on May 17, 2019, 04:59:33 AM
Oh, redoing it all would be too much, I think, unless you really enjoy it.:)
While not a lot of them are truly typical for 'fashion' in the era's I've divided them in, the only real thing that stuck out were the black/white suits which are a tad too modern for common use in say, 17/18th century. But then again, the game does not deal with classes or specific outfits for jobs so I think the more standardized clothing is just fine.

A few things I can think of if you're interested:
-17th/18th century fashion, across all layers of western culture, included some form of collar or ruff. Wide, puffed up collars from the early 1600s, to flatter and less restricting ones by the 1700's .
-Corsets, of course, were quite the fashion.
-Difference between Baroque and Puritan styles might be interesting to pursue. With French style, flamboyant, colorful clothing for Baroque and Black/white, modest Dutch style clothing for Puritans.
-Wigs, especially the gentry and nobility (and anyone who wanted to appear reasonably wealthy) wore white-powdered wigs. This is probably not very feasible with just a re-texture but maybe worth a try.
-Sashes around the waist were kind of the male equivalent of corsets, although never as universal.
-Hats. Everyone wore them. But this is hardly a thing for retexturing work.
Title: Re: Easter Celebration?
Post by: Abandoned on May 17, 2019, 06:28:53 AM
I am thinking, many of those era clothes might be better a set of deco people, I don't see aristocrats in wigs carrying stones, farming, pushing wheelbarrows or fishing from a pier.

I hope there will be pirates and Native Americans, either overrides or deco, or both  :)
