Intro:

Oh Little Town is a true story, I did not make it up.  As my mother used to say, "It's in the Book".  And besides,  I know it's true, I have pictures :).

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.  Stay safe and God Bless Us Everyone.

Chapter 1 of 1

Welcome, weary traveler.  Yes, there is always room at the inn here in Smallville, even on Christmas Eve.  You arrived just in time for what has become a yearly tradition ever since the boatman gave us an old copy of a Holy Book which had been painstakingly copied by hand over and over again. In fact, our youngest cleric is preparing to lead an expedition to build a monastery where holy monks will do the same.  Weather permitting, they plan to leave right after the start of the New Year.

The book is an ancient history book, a compilation of many books, true stories recorded by many different authors.  My favorite story is read by our clerics on Christmas Day in our new church and in the little chapel. On Christmas Eve the founders of our little town gather at the mini chapel, but all are welcome.  The little cross marks the grave of Garet and Muriela's boy, Holling, who died during our town's 6th year. Flintonia was our first cleric, she now reads the Christmas story there.

The story you're about to hear was written by an apostle named Luke.  He tells of the first Christmas, the true meaning of Christmas, the mas or celebration of Christ, the baby born in the little town of Bethlehem ... oh, come, let us go and hear the story. Flintonia is about to begin ...

A reading from the Holy Book according to Luke 2:1-14

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.   And Joseph also went up from Galiliee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David;) to be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.  And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them:  and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.  And this shall be a sign into you;  Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men.

:) Thank you both.  @RyanGreerz I am happy to here you enjoy my stories, and @galensgranny can you believe it is that time of year again?  Where did the year go?

That babe mentioned in the story:  Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger can be found in story #22 Winter Woodlands and this year's Christmas story, coming soon, takes place not far to the north of there, in a town called Aspenglow.  :)
