Title: BRAD'S SETTLING OF AMERICA SERIES 2:Lehighwood
Post by: brads3 on October 05, 2018, 04:56:29 AM
Lehighwood,604129374,valleys,medium sized,fair and medium start,disasters off    strawberry,apricots

mod order: added KID's welcome sign for nomads and slid the wagonHO back below the RK.this will change the wild animals back to RED's bison and vary the herds.the mod manager makes this easier and faster than doing it in game.

map goal: supply the railroad workers with alcohol. according to Gatherer's notes, not all alcohol can be traded with the train stations.
http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=2269.180 he did a list of the functions of each building and piece.what can't be shipped via the train will keep the bannies happy or be shipped from a TP. there is a huge list of options whiskey, beer, ale, cider, mead, etc.we will see how many we can produce.

where do we start? it will take some time before we have enough food and workers to produce any ales.at the start there is several things needed.  firewood, tools, clothing and food.we chose not to grow the apricots but did plant 1 field of strawberries. a quickhunter and fisherman were sent out to gain food.the wood chopper, tailor and blacksmith will help the laborers a lot in the beginning.they will be short of materials and help when they do hit their limits. hopefully we get most of the buildings done before autumn.then we can search for more food.while the workers supply the building projects,i try to keep them busy clearing trees or stone to build the stockpile up.just don't overdo it and fill it.if it gets full the laborers can't clear for the next building.usually i will use 1 builder.here i went with 2 since i built a larger BS and tailor shop. the bannies can live in the boardinghouse for the 1st year.they will build houses once the main workshops are built.in the fall they will collect food and then build more in winter.the quickhunter gets moved as the animals scatter from all the construction noise.one thing to remember is where you place the firewood storage.if the chopper walks by it to collect logs, he will fill it. if the storage is on the other side of him,he will fill the pile instead.

while the workers are busy, i can check out the land around the starting point.this isn't a bad spot. there is some mountains and hills around but enough flat land to work with too.i do want to keep a good space near the lake open.since i will have to ship ales by rail and boat, this will leave room to connect the 2 without demolishing buildings.probably most shipping will be to the southeast where the river runs out from the lake.for now i will work to expand north and east.there is a mining mountain to the west that will supply iron or trade minerals.

during the winter, the firewood and tool limits are increased to build reserves up.the post office and undetaker and cemetary are built.these village buildings function as houses.working closer to center keeps the farmer near his field for spring.
by spring 2 couples remain in the boardinghouse. a claims office Th and our basic service work shops are completed.the firewiood storage and stockpile are both over half full. we have made more tools and clothing more than we used. we also cleared a 2nd strawberry field. fruit needs to be overstocked so we can make all the ales and ciders later.

since i don't use the autosave,i do make 2 saves in the spring.this is just a saefty in case 1 save is corrupted or you accidently save over it.sometimes  shortages will take a couple years to cause problems and going back a little more is the best way to avoid them.it can also be handy to save when nomads arrive or trade boats.

do you know what i love the most of necora work ?

thats the fact there are some tree species that are a lot smaller and lower than the other trees. and that fill your view of the forest quite very nicely.
for example, your last screenshot, to the left, you see a big forest with tons of different size of trees and which is making more realist.

the only thing with Necora work, his meshes totally lack of shadows and some have a thin white line all around the leaves which make other model very ugly.
but i love the overall concept.

he is missed for sure.glad you like the pics and forests. i miss my meadows thou.there is less of them with the RK than with the NatDiv.the NatDiv leaves some spaces that the trees haven't grown as thick. like you said it adds some realism to the maps.

i have my mod order tweaked better.your RK controls most of the spawning of food plants.i do see more fruit on this map than the last 1.most of the pine items clear except for the trapper items.beaver lodges, eggs, and fox holes can only be cleared by the trapper to collect them.there is 2 types of bird nests,1 from the RK and the other from the pine. there is less leaf trees than when i use a CC added on.the forests are more northern set than before.the aspens are missing.subtle differences from 1 map to the next by just changing a mod or 2.

Awesome.  Just getting back to the game and have been playing with Maritimes a bit.  Absolutely awesome but could use some tweaking. And would love to see more.  He's done some very interesting things with it, for sure.

How've you been, Brads?

what more tweaking would you like to see MALDRICK? anything specific?  the game itself with all the modders, lets us players do some of it.each year there has been big changes to the start maps.

me? oh i have days like everyone.stomach goes in a cycle.was sick last weekend.after way to much time and effort,i have the mod order working with no real issues.every mod in it works.i do have a weird glicth to teh nomads.the percent mods by KID bring odd numbers.usually more nomads than i want there to be.how have you been?

YEAR 2

i think i have a plan. bring the train in south of the lake.it will take a long time to build this village and workers,so this will keep it out of our way or us out of its way. i want to keep this straight shoreline along the lake for now.for a trade good,we will mine minerals.as nomads arrive they can build tight to the mountain and expand south to the river. a trading area can be developed then.once everyone is moved out of the boardinghouse,a 2% welcome sign will bring nomads.we'll take every set for 5 years.if they come too fast or something goes wrong, then i will only take them every 3rd year.this should keep the education above 50% and be a smoothe pace.the bannies do have minds of their own so any plan is subject to  problems.

we will use the CC orchard forests to establish some fruit orchards.these will get us to producing ales faster than waiting for seeds.hunters will be happy to hunt the deer that come to feed on the fruit.we clear some grain fields behind the houses before the forester plants trees in them.they will wait for seeds.during the winter we will build a school.

YEAR 3-4

in year 3,the laborers will restock stone and start to dig and supply 2 mines.a multi mine and a precious mine will be dug.with them marked, the road can be stretched.this way the nomads will know where to build their houses.with only 1 builder and 2 official laborers, everyone is busy.SLINK's industrial market makes a great storage for the minerals.even thou some are set to 1.07 limit flags, this barn works.it also is extra storage space to back up the main workpile since it stores stone and logs.

2 nomads arrive in spring of year 4.our laborers are really thankful for the help.they are tired from all the digging and hauling rocks.at 45 and 33,these are the oldest citizens.they built a hotel.they had planned to live in it and rent rooms, but that didn't work out. we now have 2 boardinghouses.

the builder gets the multi mine finished.he has done a lot of road work.verdant roads were used for yards near the apple orchard.these will stop the forester from planting the trees too thick.

YEAR 5-6

we send another fisherman out to bring in more meat.we also build a land claims office, another house from the wildwest mod.10 nomads arrive, way more than 2% .population is 30. the welcome sign shows no conflicts and it is the 2nd mod down in the order.i reloaded the save  and 8 show  up.

since the mod is white, i wonder if the code lines for number of nomads is wrote into the main registry.if those lines are added under the start settings.those lines wouldn't be affected by moving and enabling  mods or using the mod manager. or is it that the population is so low ,the mod doesn't calculate correctly.maybe at 100 bannies it would drop down and give only 2 nomads.or am i just cursed?  as it is, i'll switch to taking nomads every 3rd year.this will give time to recover supplies.

before we build houses, i want to finish the mine and industrial storage.with it finished, we can store more minerals and raise the limit.to insure we have enough food,1 of the grain fields will be planted with strawberries.the nomads send a quickhunter out help bring in more food.

once the workplace houses are built,3 bannies will work the multi mine.a bridge to the south is finished.soon we can begin to work on trading.we have plenty of fruit but no grain.the quick hunter helps out whenever herds waunder by.this area seems to be mostly poultry.ducks and geese are always around with the lake.we have not seen any large deer, elk,or bison herds.

YEAR 7-8

to work ahead of the next nomad group,a colinal general TP is built. a small storage shed is added to unload the boats.a fishing pier will work beside it. workers stockpile materials for future buildings.

the nomad group in year 8 is smaller.only 4 arrive with our population at 42,a couple with 2 children.as soon as their house is built they can both go to work 1 will fish while the other stocks the TP.iron and copper ores, flowers, coal, and furs will give  a variety for the merchants.a lighthouse was built just in time to attract the 1st merchant.he delivers 150 onions.

a larger fishing dock now works the lake near the start village.

YEAR 9

a 15x15 holding pen needs to be near the trade post. a grazing pasture works to keep any acquired livestock fed while larger pastures are fenced.the merchants like to stay during storms.any animals travelig on their boats need water and a place to roam also.

a young nomad couple arrive.this is where the nomad % mods make me scratch my head.there is a yoyo or inconsistancy to it.this couple has a plan to grow flax and produce clothing.since we are short on leather,we will allow them to try their experimments.
there is 2 types of flax. some is processed when harvested and can be made into clothing.some needs to be processed into linen before making clothing.the flax from the garden can be made into linen clothes at the workplace tailor.i wasn't sure this plan would work without the extra step.good job,KID. this is helpful.not only will we have clothing but there should be enough to trade some.a nice backup to our hunting.

year 10 review

POPULATION 54,23 new children and 6 students.44% educated in 11 houses.our health is suffering from lack of grain and meat shortages.we have stockpiled strawberries and the apple orchard has matured enough to produce 500 apples.fishing has improved.    a mine supplies the trade post.workers continue to help haul more copper and iron ores.

YEAR 10

another couple arrive.they will plant a cherry orchard forest and tend to harvest honey from bees that pollinate the fruit trees.the forest gathering hut is centerd to collect both the apples and cherries.
we take in 166 squash at the trading post.a quickhunter waunders the map searching for elk, bison, and boars.the main fishing pier now has 2 workers.as students graduate, the small village expands.

YEAR 11-12

16 nomads travel by.that many would use up our food and supplies.we will use the time to clear trees and rocks.the flax garden and workplace tailor balance well.clothing is not overproduced.the trade post uses the ores to bring in 500 eggs.by year 12,3 miners are sent to the precious mine.  slowly, the trade post adds clothing.

for this map,i moved the FO ND mod above the RK.that has worked well. houses burn thatch without needing it to be bundled.it is a slight tweak but it will save the bannies from walking far to collect firewood.the bannies have the option of using thatch if it is closer.the foresters do clear a little thatch while planting trees.

in spring of year 12,we decide to do some terraforming.the mountain along the lake will be flattened.a small hill to the east needs smoothed  to extend our road.  again 16 nomads travel thru.the nomad mod seems to give 2 or 3 large groups and then a smaller set.

a pine mod lumber cutter will start to stockpile more building materials. a merchant finally brings us 500 oats.a cave in causes our 1st death. though the inconsistant nomad groups slow population growth,we do progress.

YEAR 13-14

another cave in causes our 2nd death. we have 1 builder and 2 laborers.the lumber cutter stops work to help out.as expected a smaller group of nomads arrive.a couple with 2 children.we use the lumber to build a fodder hut.a tower will keep watch and hunt the meadow.

we spend the following year clearing rocks and trees for the fodder tp grow. we will send a gatherer or 2.there are enough foxes and beavers that in time we will need to add a trapper.if the mine doesnt cave in, we will have more workers again.

YEAR 15-16

since the apple orchard is planted, the forester moves to the fodder meadow.another forester is planting  the cherry orchard. laborers will have to cut logs. the tower will improve our leather and more clothes can be made and traded.as we take grain in trade, health should improve.

12 new nomads arrive.a pair will help at the mines.2 more plant strawberries in the grain fields.another couple moves to the meadow.a trapper is added to the meadow.he will bring in eggs and game as well as furs and pelts.
with the orchards planted, the 4th couple will need to start a forest zone.east of the lake will supply logs.while the builders are busy with the bridge, the laborers plow 4 more fields.we need vegetable and grain seeds.

a merchant brought pumpkin seed and took all our trade goods.

YEAR 17-18

with the new veggy fields,2 of the grain fields will not be planted. we send graduates all 4 veggy fields can be planted with pumpkins.
we'll start a maple apple forest across the bridge.this will work to make the apple cider and maple whisky.it will take some time for the forester to clear the rocks and plant trees.

once the forest houses are completed,we need to build more for the graduates.anothere worker is sent to help move items to the TP.a house will be built near the sawmill.then we will work to build logs and food reserves.

the merchant had to wait for goods but we do gain rye seed.

YEAR 19

we now have grain and all  9 fields will be planted.2 workers are stocking the trade post.we do need to increase logs and stone.since the iron ore only trades at 1 and we have over 100 gold ore,a foundry will be built near the mines.the tiny gatherer in the meadow doesn't produce much.it will be upgraded to a FO gatherer and work a larger area.pumpkins don't grow well so 1 veggy field will be planted with strawberries.the bannies planted 2 of the rye fields with strawberries.guess they didn't get word of the trade during the winter.construction goes slow with us short on stone.

food dwindling on the edge and we used up logs and stone. our health has improved.we now have grain and veggy seed.a meadow and forest are being planted.the flax garden paid off well.the orchard forests have good and bad years.education holds just under 50%.

population is now over 100.a third are children.we have 23 houses.the new graduates need 2 more houses.hopefully the crops produce well this year.

YEAR 22-23

a mini forester with a herbalist and FO gatherer will be built south of the maple forest.we need to get more logs before we can start producing ales. the merchant brought bean seeds.half the pumpkin fields will be switched next year.a fishing pier is also added top the east side of the lake.

in year 23 we begin to build more houses.there are 5 quarry workers and 5 mining for gold ore.the meadow has 2 workers plus the 2  forests.

YEAR 24-25

another orchard gatherer works north of the cherry forest.even as the education level improves and we expand food production, food is to low to allow more nomads to stay.now that we worked to the map edge, more forests are planned along it.an RK forest will work north of the river.this will supply logs for firewood.

while we work on building the RK forest, we clear 2 more fields for newly acquired root seed.2 workers will cut trees in the new forest.soon a hunter and gatherer will have their house built.

a family arrives.since it is only the 4 of them, they will stay.they head south to clear  blueberry orchards and build a barn to store them and the roots.

YEAR 28-29

now that food has increased,we expand the blacksmiths and tailors.a pelt tailor and a mini BS are added to the maple forest.a trapper will work between the maple and mini forest.more houses and storage are needed.a new tiny fishing pier will be built near the blueberry  orchards.a 2nd worker was sent to the sawmill.with the educated workers, production should pick up.

we trade for corn and tomoato seeds.soon we will have to expand the crop fields. we can also add a mill.

YEAR 30 REVIEW

population has grown to 152.half are adult workers.with all the newborns we soon will need  a new school.education is at 68%. with the grain and vegetable seeds, health has improved.the new BS and tailor will make sure we have plenty of tools and coats.as more logs are cut, firewood will increase. we hold over 1000 inedible food that isn't counted.maple sap and vegetables that need sorted.

it took time to get here but we are close to being able to start processing ales.we have roots, maple sap,and fruit.now that we have worked out to the map edge ore forests will help bring more logs in.hopefully,a merchant will bring livestock soon.trees seem to die more often here. a worker will be sent to plant more apple and cherry trees.the blueberries are unaffected by the forget orchard mod.they take a few years to produce more fruit.
we should see progress the next 10 years.hopefully a small group of nomads will come help.

A SMALL GROUP OF 8 nomads arrive.6 workers and 2 children.2 will work to expand the forests.2 will move south near the trade post.the other 2 will build housing near the fodder meadow.they will add an RK apiary and start clearing pastures.

a 2nd maple apple forest is being planted in the far northeast corner.a herbalist works near by.our fields expand adding grape orchards,

i forgot to post yesterday so i'll post 2 days in 1.

YEAR 32-33

A FAMILY OF 4 arrive.even thou we are busy building houses for graduates.these 4 can stay.there are lots of rocks to be cleared.there are enough projects supplied that we needed a 3rd builder.
a tunnel gains us access to a mountain canyon. a tiny forester and gatherer are planned there in the far north.a bakery, herbalist, and school are built.since none of the merchants would bring livestock a livestock trading post was constructed. we swapped the gold bars to it.

food production shows  huge progress. the root fields are sporadic.good years are double bad years,so a big swing from year to year.good years are near 1000,bad years under 500.most crops don't drop off so much. the CC orchard forests need tended to about every 5 yrs. if a forester works all the time, there is a drop off.if the trees are forgotten longer, they die off.with 2 workers, the fodder hut is cutting more flowers than thatch.

YEAR 34-35

WITH 100 adult workers ,we do need more houses.as the builders deal with the housing boom, the laborers will begin to move supplies for a 2nd RK forest and markets.the markets will help move what meat we have.the forest will get a gathering hut and a FO hunter.
the 12 nomads will stay this year.we will increase our labor count to 12 and 4 builders.several will work at the mines to increase the trade outputs.we will need more houses.the new builders will be busy.

1 of our graduates will work the pasture.the livestock TP has traded for 3 cattle.another will start stocking the markets. a pine trapper now works the northeast forests.this should improve our textile outputs.more fur can be traded and pelt coats made.

YEAR 36-37

we work to add a doctors to keep everyone healthy.more houses, barns, and roads are needed.the train will need coal so we expand our  mining. a tiny mine and a random mine are dug.
the 8 nomads can stay and work the mines.3 to the random mine and 3 to the tiny coal mine.there is room in the schools for the 2 children.

YEAR 38-39

WE traded for pear seed and cleared land for more orchards north of the fodder meadow. a CC apple oirchard is planned to extend the forests across the north.this will increase our fruit for the alcohol production.2 granny parks have been added near the schools.a payground by the forest school and a walnut shade park near the village. we double our flax by adding another garden.

to help with our tool shortages,a mini workshop will produce wood tools for the north forests.before we can add more nomads to process the ales,we need more tools and firewood.

the rough wood sides make them quite versatile. they do fit with other sets.mine is still under the housing icon on the toolbar. i keep a few mods like that so it is easy and quick to find them. RED's small storage shed is like that under the storage icon.

YEAR 40 REVIEW

population 245 with 61% educated and 63 houses.we improved our outputs of food and materials.vendors work to move logs and food.even as we trade for some tools,we have a shortage.the miners should send a worker to the industrial market and vbuild a blacksmith for their tools.
in 10 years, our population grew by 92.we added  27 houses.32 nomads were allowed to join us. we extended the forests across the north of the map to the river.a livestock TP was added and brought us cattle.we added corn, tomato, grape, blueberry, and pear seed.we now have a bakery and several markets. we wear pelt, leather, and linen coats.the 3 trappers bring in furs to trade.the 3 blacksmiths make wood, stone, and rough iron ore tools.2 mines were added to supply coal and more minerals.

we are short of tools and firewood.the biggest concern is if the map size is large enough to process so many different ales.i do think it will take  well managed fancy trading to accomplish.

YEAR 40-41

to increase the firewood,an RK sawmill and a log depot will be built just south of the newest forests.1 miner from the multimine will work the industrial market to move supplies for the village and tools for the workers.the merchant brings 100 bronze tools to help us recover from the shortage.

in spring of year 41,the 9 nomads will stay.there is 6 adults with 3 children.they will plant a pine forest east of the lake.this will supply logs and charcoal that can be used to boil the maple sap. this extends the east forests south toward the railroad.

my game play has been out of whack for a while.  i haven't been able to get the smooth play i had hoped for. i can't control for the nomad group sizes. tried a few of KID's mods to bring consistent sized groups.moved the mod high in mod order and it shows no conflicts. i test and it will bring small #'s. then in game it gives small and then march larger #'s. bout every 3rd of 4th group will be a small.that too seems inconsistant.

i had been using the tiny mod TH and bringing nomads avout every 4th year.i went to KID's nomad catchers trying to make it smoother but with a low %. the hope was to build faster by taking nomads each year. that isn't working well. after taking a few groups,we get behind on goods and stop taking them.get caught up and try to take the small groups but the game sends a big 1 instead.

anyway, i tried to fix this problem in between games a few times. with ABANDONED and KID's notes,i have to think my game is glitched. will have to adjust my playstyle and see if i can make the next maps go better. this map is taking longer than it should.

yeah that pine forest is just starting to plant pine trees. it will look better when it fills in more. without the CC, there are trees missing on this map.there isn't any aspens. it will be neat to see what the new version of RK looks like.

YEAR 42-43

we acquired peach seed.in  spring, 2 pear and 1 peach orchard can be planted. the tool and clothing limits were raised.firewood should start to increase.we build a school for the miners children.this is our 3rd.

the 13 nomads arrive and will work to build the railroad.there are 9 adult workers and 4 children.they need 4 houses and roads.an EB material market will store the materials as they clear land to lay tracks.a cemetary is cleared and a storage barn added.soon we can begin to build the many taverns.

YEAR 44-45

the pine forest has produced enough pine boughs to build the pine kiln. this will make the charcoal for the sap. the sap will be used to make apple cider and then maple whiskey.checking our inventory we have plenty of corn, the mill and bakery will double workers.there are plenty of roots. a Pilgrim's Rest will be our 1st tavern to produce root beer. with the nomads housed, more housing for our graduates can be built.an outbreak of yellow fever slows down our progress.our doctot works hard but the disease claims 3 lives.

we trade for dairy cows and leghorns.the leghorns stay in the holding pen while we clear another pasture.our mine village expands to produce steel tools and glass.a jail was added to our main village.we acquired barley seed. we will use this to produce ales and whiskeys and save some of our corn.our goal is to produce 5000 food more than we need per year to use toward ales.

STORAGE SYSTEM

lets look at the storage markets.this has been debated off and on.i think it has improved considerably since the last upgrade. modders have made changes and most don't store the fertizer anymore.

the original stock pile is still here. it with the original barn should store everything.to make sure we didn't overfill it,the industrial barn was built.it is handy for logs and stone.the village markets were built to move and combine the food groups to improve health. for many years,1vendor worked to stock all 3 of them.now they are all staffed with 1 worker as well as the 2 log depots and industrial markets. they do have some odd items from time to time in small quantities.this is due to the old my precious mod using the textile flag. they also stock maple sap that is inedible and flour which is questionable. the flour should be edible with this mod order but no houses are storing it.the houses do have bread, corn and rye.the inedibles aren't overfilling the markets and the houses do show a mixture of foods.

the industrial market does store a variety of materials. it has copper ore which should be under the new flags.the more coal it stores from the mines the less coal that ends up dumped off at the log depots.that is 1 thing i have to counter. coal can fill the log depots and slow down the sawmills.normally if the coal gets to be a problem,i move it to a trade post.the new covered RK pile will store materials that the industrial barn might not.the EB material store to the south,is not staffed. it is there for the railroad workers to store materials while the clear land and build the tracks.

i did scatter the blacksmith shops and sawmills to help keep the farther away workers supplied.the inventory does show 2 types of flax.the flax from the pine forest and gardens are not the same.if the odd flax gets overstocked, a pine mod shop can be built to process it.the flax patch might allow the workplace tailor to use both.to me the pine material shed stores more types of materials than the RK forest barn.it does not store food thou.so there is a mixture of both and some other sheds.

overall we should be able to store anything.the workers are all busy and no barns are full.storing and moving items works fine. there is a little issue with the trading.some merchants can be picky about what goods they will take. the railroad is a 1.06 mod so will not move the newer flagged goods. if we do get a surplus of some odd items, a more universal tradingpost will have to be built.the new options for the forests combined with wharehouses and a variety of markets works quite well. the modders have worked hard to improve the storage systems.been some really good gains to it in just the last year.

over time i did notice the wildwest corner store starts to store more in-edible maple sap and less fruits.this doesn't happen to the other 2 markets. health never goes down enough for it to be a problem.

YEAR 46-47

spring is always busy.check inventory and adjust trading.find the builders and check housing needs.then try to plan forward.the railroad workers are steadily laying more track. we adjust miners to produce more iron and add a foundry to process the iron ore. the iron was used up building the tracks.

we did trade for pigs. our meat production has improved with eggs and milk. 1 worker will remain at the livestock TP to stock gold bars and coal.it can  begin to move goods and ales for the train.

the pig pasture was cleared and more houses and storage built.the railroad now has a water tower and DS storage market.tracks extend thru another mountain tunnel an EB winery can start to processes grapes.our 3rd alcohol producer is finally completed.

YEAR 48-49

even with the iron shortage,i was quick enough with adjustments to avoid a tool shortage.food production dropped off from the 5000 surplus to almost even.this wasn't a concern as workers were moving and a greenhouse was planned. glass was being produced for it. the dairy pasture is half full, chickens and beef are full and we did take on pigs.as the pine forest produces more charcoal, a 2nd sap boiler can make more maple syrup.

12 nomads arrive.this group is the right size.they can stay and work on producing a trade good.the railroad is an older mod so it won't ship new items.we don't want to trade away food and logs.we will increase coal and salt outputs and grow herbs. a clinic near the south cemetary will be built with some herb gardens.of course the next nomad group is only 8.with so much construction going on, they decide not to stay

by the time the 1st greenhouse is completed, there is enough glass for the 2nd to be started.these will grow vegetables.the 1st is set to carrots.the next will grow potatoes.there is more than enough fertilizer from the pastures to supply them.if needed i do have KID's greenhouses they won't technically use the fertilizer and water, but do give different options.

the railroad had to be reconfigured.i had ran tracks to line them up thru the mountains and didn't leave space for trains.tracks had to be finished before they could be removed.there was no way to cancel the build order.the utility export station will handle ales, beer, tools, and herbs.that will still leave whiskeys, cider, root beer, wine, and mead.the material export claims it will take brick and roof tiles as well as coal, stone and iron. i doubt it will since the brick is under the new flags. it can move coal.we'll build another utility export. 1 can sell ales and the other herbs or beer.the textile export says it will move salt, beeswax, fur,as well as leather coats.remember the railroad is a 1.06 mod so some of this is questionable.in a quick test, the station did store some salt. a second textile station will be built to deal with furs or leathercoats.
an Old Town tavern  makes ale from we now produce apple cider, maple whiskey, pear ale, grape wine, and rootbeer.

YEAR 50 REVIEW

population 370,193 working adults,68 students, and 109 children.66% educated in 35 houses.our production outputs continue to improve.the main blacksmith shops only allow 1worker.the RK sawmill could use a 3rd worker.all our pastures are full except the pigs.they produce more than fertilizer than the 2 greenhouses use.

our primary focus has been to lay tracks for the railroad and begin making the different ales. we have an apple cider press, maple whiskey still,Pilgrim's Rest,EB winery, and Old Town stone tavern. several export stations are completed and worker houses are being built.3 groups of nomads arrived to help. 1 planted the pine forest and began the whiskey process.1 has laid tracks and built the export stations.the 3rd group grows herbs for the south hospital and started a salt mine.

more miners were sent to dig minerals. a foundry to process the iron ore waas added and we expanded to produce glass.after many years, we are finaly gaining at a much better pace. once the tracks are fixed,we will add a trade post for odd items.then we can build the other taverns.

YEAR 50

there is more sap produced than the boilers can take.all syrup is being processed into maple whiskey.the sap s being stored by the WW store and shorting the villagers on fruit. a 3rd still can be built.hopefully there is enough charcoal to operate it.a wharehouse will be used to store some of the sap.that should take it out of inventory and the markets will then store more fruit. the other markets are not storing the sap, just the main ww corner store.a 3rd worker has been hired at the north RK sawmill and a 2nd to the rr wood cutter to increase firewood.

the next step is tricky. this map was started before RED made me find the TP glitch.i think i can build it if i don't click on it.if i click on it, i crash. it is a simple fix really. drop the TP fix mod and move all 1.06 TP mods below the RK.since i don't have the faithful dock TP to send all odd goods, this will do.if it fails,i will go to plan B or C. 1 is the canal TP or add another KID TP. hopefully this will take care of the picky merchant boats.

in the middle of all this,11 nomads arrive. they can add to our labor count for now.there is enough work to keep them busy.with their help work was quickly done.the train stations are put to work while supplies are moved from the livestock TP to the new larger TP.and yes i can click on it once it was built.

YEAR 51

all but the beer exporter are set to work.i'll let this train operate for a year to see how smoothe it functions.the railroad workers can finish the train and extend thru another mountain.we did need to adjust the trading as the large RK post wouldn't stock the rootbeer and maple whiskey.guess the worker wanted help . a 3rd worker was sent to the large TP to speed up the stocking.the 2nd train engine works to bring in firewood.

the south village grew adding a school and a market.a mill and bakery were built for the farmers to the northeast.the miner's now have a tiny market.2 SLINK farmers markets will supply the outer forests.

after the year,we do show an excess of coins.some items like salt and leather coats were stockpiled so the outputs of some exporting will drop. however, do think we will need to expand the train yard and add 2 more engines to use up the coins.

YEAR 52

to increase our food outputs, more fields are planted and a 3rd greenhouse is built. it will grow peppers. a GF beekeeper works near the pear orchards. a butcher will be added near the pig pasture.  the 8 nomads that arrive this year will become laborers.   we continue adding houses and storage.

the railroad did use half the excess coins. leather coat exports and ale has slowed down.it has brought in over 900 venison but i can not locate it. the houses do not show much and none is stored.only issue seems to be finding a trading post to take the maple whiskey.the 3rd sap boiler did allow the bannies to have syrup and there is no extra sap.the wharehouse has sent over half of its stock back to the boilers.

YEAR 53-54

11 nomads arrive in spring.the last group increased the labor count to over 20 supplying 10 builders.now we need to increase food and iron and more logs and firewood. 2  are sent to help the miners.several KID 6x4 greenhouses are planned along the north shore of the lake.turnips, cucumbers, peas, and broccoli will be grown.a 4th RK greenhouse will grow blueberries
the main TP started to stock maple whiskey, wine, and some cider.the smaller 1 is stocking rootbeer.the railroad added 1 engine to bring in potatoes.the train used up the iron again causing construction to slow down.

a white swan tavern makes peach cider.we added bridges across the west stream.the south bridge was widened. the mining village added a candle shop.these miners do hate working in the dark.

YEAR 55

The trade balance is working well. we have 500 coins.what coins comes in each year is spent back none of the tavens are overproducing.  the fields are far enough away to limit them.a 3rd worker helps at the large TP and more goods will be sent.we are using more food than we produce but part of that has gone to stock new houses.

we send workers west across the stream.2 CC orchards are planned to the northwest,a cherry and grape. 1 gatherer and a hunter  will work between the 2.

a workplace still was added to the taverns.it can make mead from honey.the rr workers dug 2 mines a small DS iron ore and a vanilla iron and coal. soon they will need more housing for workers.they also added firewood storage and a records office.

we ran out of coins and made several adjustments. the textile export switches from leather coats  to furs.2 more miners are sent to the salt mine.the beer exporter will send herbs for now.

at the yearly meeting,it is noted that we need more food. several fields are being cleared.another beekeeper is planned.the candle shop needs more beeswax.the greenhouses report they are finally using almost as much fertilizer as the pastures produce.a 5th greenhouse and a 2nd well will be added to use up the excess.there is over 6500 fertilizer in storage.all this even as construction continues to the northwest forest.the railroad will add some pine townhouses.

a 3rd sawmill and log depot will increase our firewood.the fodder meadow has doubled in size to help also.

a wood Old Towne tavern will make more ale from blueberries.the Midnight Heart tavern makes ale from peaches.the Autumn leaves will use wheat. the Corn Crib of course uses corn to make whiskey. counting the maple whiskey and cider there are now 11 different alcohol producers. a pub is set up but we lack ingredients to make any meals.

i did find the bannies like to use the railroad tunnels as a road path.good thing is they know when the trains come and never get run over.

we decide to allow the 13 nomads to stay this year.the south fodder meadow needs workers and more crop fields are planned also.

a double beach was aded to the south shore of the lake.a park and play area sets to the left of it.since a monestary does produce alcohol,it was built to make wine.
the railroad village added a DS coal mine and a GF blacksmith to make steel tools. with the tonwhouses  built, workers are sent to the mines. i really like how DS compliments the railroad mod with these additions.always neat when 1 modder expands another modders sets.

YEAR 59

since the merchants haven't brought brick,a clay pit and kiln are needed. the bannies wanted a church near the start village.i do wish the kiln would have options to use coal or charcoal instead of just firewood. a tiny chopper will work to supply it. the new train engine will bring in tools for the year.

at the end of the year,i made some adjustments with the engines.checking the pricing we can get better deals.the venison is switched to taking in milk.and the tools are switched to firewood.we take potatoes and firewood with the other 2.this should improve the inputs.

one issue i have noted now and then, the red coal bin engine gets stuck in a loop.the engine near the export stations, has done this several times.carries 500 coins back and forth from the engine to a barn. the engine already had 500 coins. the barn did allow him to store the coins.i even added some crates and a storage cart.he does this as the farther away engines need coins.at the time there was plenty of coins in storage. just a weird loop.  if i didn't notice im stuck, his inputs went down for those years.

fertilizer is still producing faster than the 5 greenhouses use it.i did find the holding pen without animals or a worker produced 40.

YEAR 60 REVIEW

population 552,291 workers,105 students, and 156 children.69% educated in 132 houses.we break even on firewood and have dropped on food production.with the alcohol production, our fruit is being steadily used. we do maintain a decent balance of all 4 food groups. we do have excess fertilizer and flowers.we do have room for more of KID's greenhouses.44 nomads joined us through the last 10 years.

we have a functioning train operating. it is backed by a larger trade post.4 engines bring food and firewood.5 stations export a variety of goods.we added 3 mines to supply coal and iron. we added a double beach front on the lake and many taverns and a monestary.we produce over 850 units of alcohol per year in 12 different flavors.the village has grown . we have started to access more land to the west.

to finish off the alcohol producerswe need a malt house, taverrn, and a corner tavern.if i had a CC mod, there would be some more. we also need to finish extending  the train.that is on hold while we consider adding more stations.while we wait for bricks to be made, food production will be increased.

What do you mean a train? I don't see a train?

where have you been? LOL the railroad mod by RED has export train stations that sell goods for coins. those coins are used by the train engines to bring different goods. i've used some to bring food and others for firewood.plus there are tracks and tunnels.so no it isn't a moving train as banished doesn't have a way to do that. but the mod is a good way to RP and the concept is a different way for various maps to interact and another way to trade.there is a caboose that acts as ahouse, and several different boxcars that act as storage for food, ales,or materials.
this train is moving or selling a lot of coal and ales.some of the alcohol products aren't included to sell from the export stations.many were modded into the game after the train mod.so the trading posts do have to work to trade ciders, maple whiskey, and root beer. there are also DS's mines parts that expanded on the railroad idea. it is a neat toy to play with.GATHER warned me the train mod can bring in too many coins so i have worked to try and find a good flow in and out.i think it is well balanced.
it is a nice concept to trade without waiting for merchant boats. i do like how DS expanded on it with his mines. wish more modders would use the trading concept to expand also.

there are some pics of the export stations and what is sold. others of the train engines and food or firewood inputs.i still need to extend the tracks to the other side and off this map.   the pics on the train start about year 50 on.will be more as i keep adding to it.

YEAR 60

11 new arrivals in late spring will stay to help. 5 KID 6X4 greenhouses are added.a hothouse will also add to our food production.a fishing pier near the miner village is built.
there is enough bricks to finish a RK tavern and malt house. they work to make strong beer since we have taken some hops in from trading.  finally all the alcohol processors are finished the corner tavern maes ale from blueberries.the RK taverns do have an option to make watermelon or strawberry wine.

3 families remain in the boardinghouses thru the winter.they will work to expand to the west next year.

I searched this site for "Train" and it doesn't exist.
Also, it's not in RKEC.

railroad or train mod is under choochoo:    http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=1463.0

what rework to the alcohol,RED? the use of malt? i have less need for hops now,but it functions ok. the train station does accept the beer still.any plans to update the train mod for 1.07? i do hope other modders pick up the trade concept of itthat is a neat and helpful way of doing trading.

Just now reading this topic and you are right @brads3 , choo-choo mod is a fine way to trade goods without having to wait for merchants. I'm glad you are liking it as much as I do.

i know ChooChoo needs to be updated / maybe possible include inside RKEC.

Personaly I vote it to stay outside of RK EC. Better to have it as an add-on mod.

but in counterpart, there is the fact so the ChooChoo being able to sell/buy all the new resources from RKEC, it needs to get all the resources files. So, if you use ChooChoo and dont use RKEC, you will get a big amount of new resources which you wont know how to use them, or how you will produce them.

examples: M.Oysters, Bananas, copper, Silver rings, golden circlets, malt, beer, etc......

good morning.GATHERER i am surprised i do like it as much.when RED 1st made iti actually laughed.not at RED but at what other players might do with the idea.it takes banished far into the industrial era.so much could have spiralled out from it. i thought he might have started a stampede in here.most i think like banished as an older or more ancient era. the trade concept that allows us to interact with other maps is a good idea.i can see boats doing that also.a new indian trading post would be helpful too.

i agree with it separate.not everyone uses all parts in a mod.sometimes saving memory for other mods is needed.being able to pick and choose is 1 thing that makes banished unique. not long ago someone mentioned a way to use resource files between mods.i like using the train to move coal, iron, salt, and other basic items.it does a decent job of bringing in  food, firewoodand soe tools.couldn't a new station or 2 be added that would move the new RK items or goods?without needing a ton of files? much of the alcohol that i am shipping thru the TP is extra modded stuff. KID's rootbeers, cider, corn whiskey, and NECORA's maple whiskey. if we set a station to crafted flag items, will it ship all items flagged crafted? or do you need to list each item individually? or a mineral station that would move copper ore as well as iron and coal. of course this might have issues in pricing. maybe different engines or a box car to sell so the menu isn't as long.

YEAR 61

now that all the alcohol producers are finally built,i will let them run a full year and see how the outputs are. i think 1 more export station will help the train produce better.it can move coal or iron.then we can extend the train to the west.it has taken longer than i expected, but i am nearing the end of this map. housing needs about 15 more to have 150 houses.for that many, another school will be needed.basically looking at needing an entire village.

since the north forests don't have a school,we add 1 for them and the greenhouse workers.a 6th RK greenhouse will be built.fertilizer is alost 8000.the wells have an extra 180 of water.the pastures produce 550 fertilizer.it is almost like something else is producing fertilizer since we were starting to use it up before the holding pen produced some a few years after the pigs were moved.that pen now produces nothing.

the bannies head off to a mountain canyon  with their wagons to clear land.6 crop fields and 2 barns are started.

the alcohol outputs are decent. our firewood is caught up.the brick and glass was stopped. i made several adjustments. the herbs exporter  brought a lot of coins but i will switch it to beer.the corner tavern can produce it from malt.the main RK tavern will make strong beer and use the hops. a hops and wheat field near the stations will supply the beer production.the ale exporter is busy and getting the most coins.1 engine switches from firewood to buying peppers. the rail yard mines add more workers to haul more coal and iron ore.the iron and firewood limits are finally raised.

YEAR 62

fertilizer is at 8000.i am dumbfounded as to why. thr pigs and beef pastures produce 550 and there are 6 greenhouses using it.i have searched the map for something producing fertilizer that isn't suppose to...really starting to wonder if the chickens and milk cows are producing some and it is not showing in their inventory outputs.the holding pen is not giving milk extra like it did  give fertilizer when it was left set to pigs.i don't think it is just the 2 animals giving too much. i built greenhouses and at 1 point was almost using as much.it is a strange gremlin i continue to chase.looking at the materials production stats for the year,it appears the greenhouses are using only 75% of what the pastures are putting out. RED's asjustments might be enough to solve it then.

we will build houses this year.we need at least 14.1 is added to the northwest orchard foreststhey need more workers to clear rocks and plant trees and grape vines. the west canyon will get several granny houses for the farmers.the canyon farmers have a workplace blacksmith to repair their own tools.they also added an animal pen to give them some meat.the train rowhouse can be extended.it will get a pine tavern as well.it doesn't produce but will be an extra storage for the alcohol.the main town has a workplace preservist and butcher.

YEAR 63

1ST step is to adjust trading storage. there is just over 500 coins so no need to do much with the train.it has a good flow in and out. merchant boats bring tools and foods.i have tried to limit our intake to foods we produce and not take in the exotics.we do have more furs stored so the textile exporter can be switched from leather coats.more cider, wine, and copper ore can be shipped.we do have some strong beer to add to the main TP.we double the charcoal being traded as well.

since we have so many travelers pass  through town, 1 couple started making wagons.settlers can use them to transport goods and to travel out to new lands. of course to pull them,we had to add a small stables for some oxen, donkeys, and horses.another Kid sawmill and log depot are added to the west.

more miners are sent to dig coal and iron ore.a 2nd material export station will allow us to send more coal to the railroad.we did get the houses built.we have 150 plus 2 boardinghouses.now we have more workers than jobs.

YEAR 64-65

since we do have way more fertilizer than we use,2 more greenhouses and a well will be built.this will give us 8 RK greenhouses.
the smell got so bad the bannies complained. 1 well worker walked off even.we will need to make more glass.this should bring the fertilizer down, hopefully.i thought i had it controlled several greenhouses ago

since we should have enough firewood with 16 woodcutters, the train engine switches to bringing in peppers.  the food limit is now set to 150,000.to help stock the main TP we send 4 workers.tracks have been layed to the river and a bridge is constructed.this map is almost finished.

the bannies have planted trees and lilacs.they also cleared and planted 2 more orchards.we have grown so fast we needed a 6th school. a fancy pine log home was built for the teacher.

YEAR 66-68

While the railroad workers lay tracks, the laborers clear and for a dairy pasture.they have hopes of building a creamery.we are graduating more bannies than we have jobs or housing for.we add a blacksmith to the south trading village and send more workers to stock the TP's. to feed the railroad workers,a market bbq and soup stand are made.

with the tracks layed and a tunnel added to the west, this map can be finished.all alcohol producers have been constructed.the train ships ale and beer.the trading posts handle the rest.as i finish this map off, there is more room to the west for the town to grow.as i go to close this map down,a smallpox epidemic overtakes the town.there are many deaths.thou there have been cave ins,the safety mod has protected the bannies until now.

it did take some time but we made it to the end. the nomad %mods are inconsistant. 1glitch in my system i have not been able to solve.  that turns a smoothe map into a frantic yoyo. the bannies struggled thru some shortages but did make up for it. there were 2 minor mod issues.RED made a patch for the TH and the RK trade fix mod will be disabled since it is included with the RK. i did report some issues to RED. this map has way too much fertilizer. the wild animals have been over hunted.otherwise we aren't overproducing or in need of anything.
