I have had this happen a few times in later and larger games. I will have 2-3 homeless people, despite there being plenty of Inns/hostels. But when I click on them to investigate, I find out they are 0-2 years old!

They don't stay homeless. It does resolve before anything dire happens to them, but I do consistently have a couple homeless babies wandering around a few times per year.

Any ideas?

This is probably a pathing issue.  When I've seen homeless/not homeless Bannies (Schroedinger's Bannie?) it's typically because buildings are clustered too tightly together near a waterway, a non-walkable mountain area, or even in a tightly packed neighborhood.  Sometimes you can fix it by tearing down a building, creating a road or bridge, or flattening a bit of terrain.  But if this problem crops up, it won't resolve without your intervention.

i'm surprised it is just children. are you killing the parents? placing forests near streams will sometimes cause the bannies to cross the river and get stuck. they then will die from starvation or cold before they find a way back,if they can even.
to add to GG's post. i did have a situation recently where many bannies went homeless.all seemed to be caused by a storage barn built near a TP.i had moved it just 90 degrees from where i have placed it before. the bannies didn't like it and protested. thou it looked fine ,they had problems stepping from the barn to the TP.i simply used dock pieces around the barn to solve it.if you do find houses or workplaces that do enter backwards from the water, just add some dock pieces to see if it solves your issue.would save you from rebuilding.

if none of that works,it could be a mod issue.

In every game I have occasional events of this sort for brief moments. It can also happen when a Bannie gets cut off from home--say they wander across a creek and then realize that they can't get back they will show a "homeless" icon before the "hungry" icon. Then they die, if you can't rescue them somehow.

They don't seem to die. I wonder if it's because they wandered too far from "home"?

Do 0-2 year-olds go to school? When I click on them, they are marked as "playing," so maybe they are just pretending to be homeless (running away from home?  :D)

Anyway, I will check pathing. Like I said, it doesn't cause any major problems, but its a bit unnerving to have homeless babies out there in the world!
