Trade Post auto buy question

I'm new to banished so Sorry if this is a silly question:

Is it possable to set up the TP to automatice buy up to an amount I set.  for eg if I tell it I want to have 1000 stone and I have 400 it will try to buy 600 when there is a boat selling stone.

The only option I can see seem to buy a set amount each time the boat comes.

Can this be done in a mod?

The feature you ask for is not available as far as I know.
What you can do is stock up only a set amount of an item you know the trader will accept, if the trader has enough of the resource you've set to autotrade he will give you the value of your stocked item and no more. ( if firewood trades at 4 and stone at 5 you stock 500 firewood and get 400 stone)

exactly, and this feature cannot be implemented by modling. it is more a programmation area than what a simple mod can do. mods cannot change the mechanics of the game just add building/profession/ressources.... and thats all.
