Post by: zak4862 on November 02, 2018, 09:57:56 AM
I was wondering, if its possible and not to much trouble, could someone of you guys (moders) make a stone bridge like is MR.Floopsies - but with normal width of one tile. Thank you for any answer or response in advance.  :)

I do not have one separate but there is one in Tiny mod

Do you need it separate?

Thanks kid1293! :)  I will check. I must be very careful with how many and how big mods I use. If I do not pay enough attention, problems with my old PC are coming up very quickly.

Thank you brads3!  :)
But, as I said - I would  like stone bridge with only 1 tile width. I did also ckecked out DS Bridge Crossing, but his bridge has no space for boat to pass. It always goes
through the pillars. Thanks anyway for help.  :)

@zak4862
I took the time to make it separate.

the 1st was single tile. the second gave options. sometimes older single mods exist in the back download section or write ups too.

That the boat goes through pillars depends on the boat course is at the moment.
It also depends on the width of the river where the bridge is build.

The game uses 1x, 2x, 4x , and 8x long parts which the game connects together with a algorithm depending on the length of the total bridge which is drawn by the player.

It can happen because of the width of the river a 4x and a 2x are connected instead of a 8x and so you get a pillar between the two.
If that pillar is in the path of the boat it will go through it.

Boats can go through Tradeports and other buildings on the water too if the buildings are a few tiles into the water.
The boats path is set at # I believe, while for the Bannies # means they cannot go there, but sometimes they do anyway.
Just as Bannies cutting corners so go through walls at corners of buildings which are at the edge of game tiles.

Us modders learn more and more about the games sometimes weird behavior.
Years ago quite a few asked for the buildings to be placed on edges of the tiles so the roads would touch the edge of the building.
But because of that the bannies cut through the corners of the buildings.

If you look at Luke's buildings his walls are a bit inside the tiles so going through walls at corners happens less.

So it's a trade off, either live with bannies go through walls at corners which are at the edge of game tiles or the players have a bit of space between the walls and a road and bannies go through walls at corners happens less.
Cannot have it both.

Thank you very much for thorough explanation. When I started playing Banished, I looked carefully at the way the boats are navigating. I found out, that they always cuts bends. So the bridge across the river should be fixed only on the bank if its possible. The DSs stone bridge is not suitable for the river of normal width, because the pillars are too big, extremely wide and to close together if the river has normal width. So you have almost no room for the passage of the boat. That is why the boat allways goes through pillars on this bridge.
But, fortunately the stone bridge that the "kid1293" gave me is only 1 tile wide and it has pillars only on the end of the river bank. So there is a whole river width of space for the boat to pass through. I am very happy and grateful.
       Regards zak 4862  :)
