it isnt more a matter of punctuation ? on which word to put the emphasis ?

An interesting question: We say Ca-RI-bien in Swedish. But if I would pronounce this in English, I would probably say Cari-BI-en. So I don't know, where to put my poll! ;)  ;D

the way i tend to pronounce that it would be...

Pirates of the Cari-BE-in


i would put the emphasis on the BE, and i wouldnt never* being able to put it on the RIB because it is Car-Ri-Be-An and not Car-Rib-Ean

I don't see a poll either.  I say it the way Red said: Cari- BE- an.  I am originally from the northeast part of the US.  I have heard people say it Ca- RIB- e- an.  In the English language, both pronunciations are deemed acceptable.  I wonder how the people who live there say it.

(Edit:  After I posted I saw the poll.  Odd.)
