@Discrepancy

Absolutely fantastic!!!

Any chance of a small patch that would make merchants bring iron fittings to the DS Blast Furnace & Industry Mining mod trading post? I would really like to use this food trading post in my current town but I can not upgrade the jetty mod with all the stuff I have already built.

You should be able to use the normal trading post to order the items. Glass and Wagon Parts are Crafted (Custom0), Iron Fittings are Forged (Custom1) and Lumber is Construction (Cuctom5).

Or you can use the new blacksmith I just uploaded, though you will still need the lumber & glass to build that.

It should already. If you loaded up this mod and waited a few years you'd have a 3:5 chance that it would be a merchant carrying Custom0 for Iron Fittings or even any of the others.

Or you can cheat (sort of). Save your game before the boat docks and reload until you get what you want. Might be quicker than several game years.

v2 BETA release
(https://i.imgur.com/DQ4nScf.jpg)

I am nearing completion of the long awaited update to the Thompson Trade Merchants, there is a few more things to do and alter including making a livestock trader.

But it all needs testing, so I'm releasing a beta version.
to build the traders you will need a ready supply of these: Timber (Lumber), Iron Fittings, Wagon Parts and Glass (all can be produced when using the latest DS Jetty & Bridge mod).

a few points of interest,
it adds 7 trader buildings:
Trade: Fruit ,Veg & Grain - the v1 trader - specialising in the import of fruits, vegetables and grains. [Fruit, Vegetable, Grain]
Trade: Fuels - specialising in the import of all fuels, firewood, charcoal, coke, etc. [Fuel, Custom3]
Trade: Goods & Crafts - specialising in the import of tools, clothing, textiles & fabrics, health, crafted & forged items. [Tool, Clothing, Textile, Custom2, Health, Custom0, Custom1]
Trade: Ores & Materials - specialising in the import of minerals, ores and materials. [CoalFuel, Custom4]
Trade: Building Supplies - specialising in the import of Wood & Timber, Stone, Iron, Construction goods & forged items. [Wood, Stone, Iron, Custom1, Custom5]
Trade: Seeds - specialising in the import of crop & orchard seeds.
Trade: Edibles & Goods - specialising in the import of all foods, tools, clothing, textiles & fabrics, health, crafted and household fuels. [Alcohol, Health, Fuel, Protein, Grain, Fruit, Vegetable, Clothing, Tool, Custom0, Textile, Custom2]

There is also included a set of matching dock/wharf deco pieces.

v2.0 full release is now available for download from here (http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=421)

Title: Re: DS Thompson Trade Merchants

I've had a bit of a play. One suggestion is to remove the wooden bollard things and make them ghost deco. They look good, but if they were ghost deco you wouldn't need so many F variants and we could place them exactly where we want them. Same with the bench that appears on some pieces. A ghost tree planter box would make a good decorative piece, too.

A combined seed and livestock trader would be good, in addition to the separated ones. Having them separate is fine, but there aren't that many animals to buy so that trader isn't going to have a lot to do.

A slightly different suggestion is a logging barge and coal barge to match this set (and also perhaps to match the Thadd set). Similar to what CC has done, you 'buy' logs or coal, but really the building is making them out of coins.

I haven't really explored this yet, but a way to easily connect your bridge set to these wharf pieces would be handy. It might already be possible, but if it's kind of tricky to do then perhaps some dedicated bridge ends that terminate on some special wharf pieces. That would be excellent.  :)

Love specialized trade posts and these look awesome. The wharf is fantastic, too.  Looking forward to giving this some play.  Thank you, Discrepancy.

The wharf pieces look so good. The timber mill wharf set was great but these are even better.  :)

One piece that this set is missing is a 1x1 steps piece. A 1x2 or 1x3 ramp piece would also be good, with the slope of the ramp going from high to low over 2 or 3 tiles.

ELEMENTAL,the ramp makes good sence. be good for using wheelbarrows for the TP workers and vendors.
Title: Re: DS Thompson Trade Merchants
Post by: elemental on November 20, 2018, 08:00:17 PM
Yeah, you have to think of those poor barrow-pushers. The trade docks have been designed with steps and I'm definitely not suggesting the steps should be replaced with ramps. The ports look great as they are, but it would be nice to have a ramp piece in this very attractive wharf set.

Post by: wiscoke on November 20, 2018, 08:47:24 PM
If I may make a suggestion....

Can you make the ground texture of the trade buildings a road type?
And maybe the ground texture from the industry merchant (DS blast furnace and a industry mining ) too.

Those would make some nice road types ;)
Title: Re: DS Thompson Trade Merchants

Specialized traders are always preferred in my towns, but I end up using every trade port available eventually because, well, they look cool!

More wharf pieces are on the way, that is one of the things that aren't finished correctly and were made quickly while the mod kit was running testing the traders.

Having the mooring bollards and benches as deco items makes sense, thanks :)

A ramp i have made in the livestock trader:

So i can make a deco piece of it....
(lol, i was thinking of the animals to use a ramp... not a wheelbarrow)

and so many other suggestions... i will see how i go ;)

I can see you put a lot of effort in texturing. You don't need many polys if you
do nice a job like this. Just curious - how many polys for this livestock ramp?
Title: Re: DS Thompson Trade Merchants
Post by: Discrepancy on November 21, 2018, 05:36:04 AM
i've added some hay bales now, but all up it is 1300 vertices... but 500 of those is the wagon... have to reduce the poly count on the wheels.

Has the Thompson trading merchant been updated since MM8.01?    Right now it has a bug where people keep entering the water and get stuck in front it.  It's one of my favorite trade buildings, it looks great mixed in with other docks.   But this bug makes it annoying to use.   Any idea why it's doing that and can it be resolved?   Think I saw somewhere about needing a square space on each side of it, but that's a bandage not a fix.
Title: Re: DS Thompson Trade Merchants

The only update made is the beta version of v2 on the previous page. I fixed all the issues you described (i hope... i haven't heard otherwise).

I am finalizing and testing the next beta, and I will release as beta2 for a few days and if nothing major is wrong I will upload as full version 2 soon after.

Title: Re: DS Thompson Trade Merchants
Post by: Discrepancy on December 12, 2018, 02:35:11 PM
I haven't been able to spend as much time on it as I'd have liked so progress is a little behind schedule.
I'm not happy with my hay bales and hay textures that i added to the livestock trader and as deco objects so I am going to remake those.
I've made a couple more traders that just need coding along with the code for all the other deco objects i've added.
Hopefully within the next week i will finish it.

Beta 02 released.

the next beta build of v2.
I have:
- added in a standalone livestock trader.
- added in a standalone protein trader.
- edited the Seed trader to have 2x upgrade options in the UI.
- added deco hay bales, benches, planter box, dock ramp pieces and stair pieces.
- various changes to other traders.
- file structure edits.

This is not save-game compatible with previous beta sorry.
Place this mod above all other DS mods in mod list.

This is still a WIP and there is a few tweaks left to do with all the deco dock pieces. I am also going to add a similar upgrade for the livestock trader.
I was going to add another trader, but I think that one can wait until a future update release.

* the Small Traders that the Seed trader can upgrade to, do not allow the ordering and auto-buying of products. This is by design, not by fault.

I'm looking at that second picture with the upgrade options for the seed trader for after one buys all the seeds he wants in his/her particular town. Could the same be done with the livestock trader but instead of a food import station to be upgradeable to a storage building?

updated to version 2.0

v2.0 is not save-compatible with previous builds (v1 & v2betas), you must start a new game.

What's new since last beta?

added the upgrade option to the livestock trader, as per Gatherers suggestion it becomes a storage barn.
added a round style garden bed planter.
added location variants to square garden bed planter.
changes to trading post footprint sizes.
changes to footprint decals.
changes to string texts and sprites.
changes to radius sizes and materials.
plus various other changes.

see first post for more details (http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=2352.msg48148#msg48148)

Could you please re-check the flags set for Building Supplies and Goods & Crafts TPs?

No merchant wants to bring any stone and iron to Building Supplies TP in my current game as it says they should in the TP UI description. There is no stone and iron option to select in Orders section either for any merchant at this TP. It has been this way since the TP was built some 30 years ago. :(

I am running this mod immediately above Pine Set and RK EC btw.

@Discrepancy

I've come across a little bug yet again.

As per your instruction I have demolished all DS Trade Merchant TPs before updating the mod itself. All TPs have been rebuilt and are operating. A few years have passed without me noticing it (was building up a different area at that time) but a small sheep pasture with a maximum of five sheep has gone empty. It was the second sheep pasture built. I filled the first one with sheep bought from Mr. Red's retextured vanilla TP. The second one which went empty was filled with sheep bought from DS Trade Merchants Livestock TP. I have not slaughtered the animals myself. There's an interesting twist here as well. Despite the pasture being empty the herdsman was still able to collect 12 units of wool per year.

That is unusual.
I have no idea how that could happen. My only thoughts are perhaps @elemental is correct in saying demolishing trading posts always cause issues.

So they were bought at the trader that you demolished from version earlier?

The 12 units of wool may have just been left from previous years total... are they still collecting anything? to confirm, the UI is showing 0 sheep?

The UI was showing 0/5 sheep while the herdsman was still working and collecting wool. I test ran it for two years at 10x speed to confirm that.

Anyway, I bought new sheep and all is working as it should again.

It always causes problems for me but I'd say it doesn't always cause problems for everyone. Specifically, demolishing a port (any port) makes my game crash. I haven't tried upgrading your livestock port yet, but I will give it a go at some point.

- this is a minimum... you may or may not need to demolish other deco and traders too... let me know**

The changes are minor, but as it is adjustments to pathing it could cause some issues in savegames.

Changes:
        - citizens were unable to walk across the 1x1 deco pieces, this has been fixed, but the 1x1 pieces are now non-road-buildable.
        - minor pathing code changes with other deco pieces & traders (this may or may not cause issues in saves)
        - adjusted value of Wagon Parts, now: 16-18
        - added stone textured variants of the Mooring Post
        - changes to DStoolbar files, plus various other Dialog/DSDialog files that may alter the UI

this is a TEST version of v2.3

thanks to @elemental for finding the 1x1 deco issue and suggesting the wood/stone mooring posts (more to come eventually) as bridge supports when using with DSJaB.

That doesn't happen on my end.

Test 01: Demolishing normal road-buildable 1x1 pieces and replacing them with ghosted 1x1 pieces. Bannies have no problems.

Test 02: Demolishing normal road-buildable 1x1 pieces and replacing them with the same road-buildable 1x1 pieces. Bannies have no problems.

The problem wasn't on flat ground. They were working fine the way you are using them. But if the ground under the 1x1 tile was not flat and walkable (like a riverbank) then the bannies couldn't walk on the wharf piece.

Having a road version, a non road version, and a ghost version might be the best solution because the bannies don't walk on the ghost tiles, they walk through them, and that looks a bit weird.
