Title: Traders in CC

How come all the traders in CC only have one, maybe two at most, things to trade when they come around? Very frustrating, like building a 10 foot wall one tiny pebble at a time. When I played the Vanilla version, I'd get a nice selection of things for trading. Any way to change this?

do you mean 2 items or 2 item types??  CC does have some specific merchants. a baker,grocer,clothing,etc. but there are general traders as well that bring a mix of goods including seeds.there are a seed and livestock trading post to bring just those as well. there are also some mods that have trading posts in them here.you could just have a odd map code. that happens sometimes.

This is the general trader. Example: On one visit, he'll bring Corn seeds. That's it. Nothing else. On the next visit, he'll have apricots and flax. Again, that's it. Next visit, just bamboo and leather. Next, 2 pearls. And it doesn't matter what I ask for on the orders tab, they rarely bring them.

And so on.  By comparison, on one trip in the Vanilla game, I get Corn seeds, apricots, flax, bamboo, leather AND pearls, all in one trip.

That's what I mean. Takes FOREVER just to get things. If I'm lucky, I'll get the right kind of seeds or goods in about 10 individual trips in CC.

wait what ? you say you tou put thing in the order tab and never bring them ?

are you sure you are selecting in the scroll menu : "Every visit" or "Just once" because if you fail and forget to select something there... it is the same as you asked nothing. if you dont complete your order sheet, your order is totally rejected because you didnt filled it at 100%

what version of CC? any other mods? i would try requesting about 5 seeds and see if the next trip is better.  can we get a screenshot of the trading post?

Red: Yes, I am selecting the "Just once" button. Maybe they do bring them, EVENTUALLY.....but with only one or two at a time, no matter how many I ask for, it takes forever.

Brad: I am using CC Journey, the latest one, and it's on top, and a few of kids mods as well, about 4 or so. Not much right now.

The quantity of goods brought by the traders is based on your town's population.  Larger towns bring in larger quantities of trade goods.  Small towns get smaller boats.

I believe each Trading Post has 5 possible boats.  Orders you place only apply to that specific boat.  In Colonial Charter an Industrial Supplier building might have Bob the Industrial Trader, Sally the Industrial Trader, Jack... etc.  Each order applies only to that specific trader.

Question: Does selecting goods as bring Never actually work?

I've spent the last decade and a half doing just that at every trading post for certain goods and the traders keep insisting on bringing them.

As smurphys7 said, the ordering only applies to that specific boat.  But instead of the 5 different boats that vanilla has, the Trading Post has 15 different boats that come by.  So you have to wait for *that* trading boat to come back, not just *a* trading boat.

And of course, the quantities and varieties increase as your population does, just like always.

Not working that way, I'm afraid. I have 20 adults, and 12 children in my village. Year 42. Several different boats come by, only one or two things for trade each time. Makes the game exhausting, waiting for the right crop or item I need to come by.

only thing i can think of is a bad map draw.usually you do get a lot of boats with an assortment of goods that you don't need.but only 2 items per boat is not normal.you have 2 options. 1 try a different map and see if you have better luck. 2 build a differnt trade post. some of KID's mods have trading posts with them. CC does have the old town trading post and the seed or livestock options.
    i take it the trading post was built on the main river?

That sounds like how my un-modded AND Colonial Charter 1.75 Banished games work.  At a population of about 50 there are very few items per boat. 

From everything you have described it sounds like your game is functioning correctly.  I don't believe there are any bugs.

Ah, so it isn't just me then.

I've tried 4 different map types, and conditions so far. Same thing. And yes, of course it's on the main river.  Can't trade on the creeks. And yes, I have currently 3 different trading posts from different people. They all work the same.

What specific item are you struggling to obtain?  I can make a quick/short video showing how to best get that good as quickly and reliably as possible.

Differnt types of seeds, depends on my mood, lol. Animals. Building materials. Clothing, lots of different items. Just wish there were more choices.

I am free right now.  If you want I can play some Colonial Charter on stream.  I am happy to get on voice chat.  I am happy to play with any difficulty/settings/restrictions.  I can answer questions as I go.

If not, I'll just make a quicky video real quick of settings up a basic town and setting up two traders: a Farm Supplier and an Industrial Trader.  The Farm Supplier to get the animals and seeds you want: I'll go with Cotton and Bison because whatever.  Then an Industrial Supplier to get Building Supplies and Homewares because they are the end-game good that require a huge production chain.  An Industrial Trader let's you skip all that.

It won't take me too long.  I was just messing around with my infinity town anyway.

There's another option, OK a bit cheaty but should be mentioned here as well. (to use in combination with these mentioned above)

Pay attention and when a boat is shortly before the dock; make a save. If it's the "wrong" boat, leave the game and reload. Next time another boat will arrive. This will of cause not make the merchant bring more goods, but you can at least order what you want and if you have ordered something, finally get what you've ordered.

and build the vanilla TP. if you already have one, destroy it and rebuild it.

this vanilla TP doesnt have 15 different traders, they are 5 like vanilla has and they work as it was back in the days

Might not be relevant but I noticed that if you leave an order the merchant will bring the specific item set you asked for, and nothing else. I usually have a much larger array of random items when I don't put an order.

it always been. so you need to put a much bigger array of order :)
you need badly this item... but what else you would have loved he brings back in same time ? that kind of thing :)
