Title: Dual Screen...
Post by: theonlywanderer on November 17, 2018, 01:48:22 PM
I've always hated how I couldn't put all the dialogs on a second monitor and just now figured out how.   I saw a post about clearing out the mod entries in the banished registry folder and while there saw this...     I imagine others might have already known this?   But I never could find any solution when I went looking.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Shining Rock Software LLC\Banished\VideoWindowWidth

Hmmmmmmmmm!!!   So I put in 2800....   sure enough....

The black vertical line indicates the monitor divider line.   I have 4 monitors.  Left monitor is 27" landscape, then I have two middle monitors in portrait and another 27" landscape to the right.

I can now have either 27" fully useable, just move the window to whatever monitor I want and put the dialogs in the extended area.

LOL!    4 not 5...         It just sort of happened over time as I got different monitors.   Had a 23" back in the day and when I was doing web design wanted to have it in portrait mode.   Well, portrait doesn't play well with everything so I needed another monitor for landscape.  That's 2...

Stayed that way for many years until I inherited one of my dads rigs.  He was a massive gamer and had pretty high powered machines.   I wanted a new portrait mode monitor that supported 1200 instead of 1080 and the 1080 one was getting faded and a bit tired.   So I swapped out the portrait 23" 1080 for a new 24" 1200.  Still at 2....

I also do Architectural CADD work and have a separate PC for that.   Decided to upgrade the 27" 1080p monitor to a 2560x1440 so I moved the 27" 1080 over to this PC.   That's 3....     left 27" landscape, middle 24" Portrait, right 27" landscape.

I then started to think that I have more video ports now and my old 23" portrait one is still good enough for misc crap to throw on it so I use it as a full time email monitor.   Also comes in handy for other misc stuff when I have lots of stuff open.

Prices for monitors are dirt cheap these days...   go for it.

if i buy them, when you going to come hook them up? it would be a huge screen then. wonder if the game would allow us to zoom out that far to see the entire maps.  it is fun to dream.

Dual monitors are easy these days, heck even most department store PC's even support 2 and sometimes 3.    If your current PC doesn't, it's really simple to put in a video card that does.   You don't need a top level video card either, just something middle of the line which aren't too expensive at all... $90ish.   Unless you play top level games, which at that point you already have a multi display card ready to go.

If you do the zoom hack, yes you can zoom waaaaaaay out!   Only problem is the zoom hack doesn't stick, it's only for the current session.

It's a shame the original developer dumped the game.  Personally I think it was $#$! move and he needs to suck it up and come back to support the game.   There are legit complaints that only he can resolve.   If he would just spend one more round on finishing up this game, he can walk away with pride.   At the moment he should be ashamed of himself for calling this game complete when it clearly wasn't.
