This looks Great kid, thank you.
I was thinking about ideas for a Wild West Mod, but my skills for drawing are simply no existing :(

It would be cool to have na old style Tradding Post, maybe using RK choo choo "Trading Style" where you can Exchange goods for currency and use currency to buy goods.

Also no wild west city is a really city without a Bank and a Jail, maybe the bank can be used to trade Gold, Silver, gems and other values for currency to be used in the trading post.

And the Jail could give some king of happiness, maybe incresea health.

I wish I could make models, but I can help with the files (still learning doo...)

@brads3 - I have no experience of what you mentioned!
It has no dependencies and it is compiled with 1.0.7 beta 2
with all new limits according to Kralyerg (same as we all have).
It should be safe/clear from anything.

@Paulo - Yes, a jail was on my list.
I just couldn't figure how to make it work with what I had.
I could be a kind of 'decoration' or a home but who wants to live in a jail?
We are spared from criminals in Banished so it was put down the list.

i like the way you added some of the buildings as houses. that was a neat way to do that. i do like the rough texture look. however, could we get a roof texture that all the buildings have?it would look better when all placed together. also the corner store can not be placed tight against another building, there has to be a space.where is the bank, tailor, stables, doctors office, and hotel boarding house? we could use the bank to store gold and silver.<hint>not sure what to say bout the sheriff or jail. what about a guy in a rocking chair smoking a pipe for decoration?

Woohoo thank you @kid1293 :D  Did you see my Wild West request (http://blackliquidsoftware.com/index.php?/topic/1156-wild-west-mod/#comment-5570) I had posted over at BL?
Woot woot :)  Looking forward to creating my mining community :D :D :D

I had inspiration for the WW from the Australian gold fields, Sovereign Hill (http://www.sovereignhill.com.au/), Central Deborah Gold Mine (http://www.central-deborah.com/), and Echuca (http://www.echucamoama.com/) (on the Murray River).
Very, very, very happy indeed :D   and a lovely surprise after being AFK for so long :D (I know it's not *my* surprise, but I feel special, hahahaha)

I made different textures on purpose. All houses should be a little different.
I am no big fan of standardization. And I got enough of that with my Rowhouses.

I see what you mean with placement.
I left 20 centimeter on both sides (on all houses) to give some room.
Else the roofs would go into each other.

I release 15 houses and you want more?  :)
We'll see if I make a Version 2.

It wold be cool if you could make the jail a school for nomads only, and only give them half an education, but I'm guessing the game engine won't let you do that.

@Paeng found a nasty bug with one of the large houses.
It would crash the game. You couldn't even select the house.
My bad. I had commented some of the code out
and forgot to put it back when releasing the mod.
Now you have to download again and try to forgive me.  :-[

not sure why but this file has  a problem. took 3 tries to get the original to load.today i tried to download the fix, it isn't working. downloads very slow.  when i load the game andgo to the mod list, this mod reads version 0,shows a picket fenceisn't even named. i tried downloading with 2 computers even.stranger yet the file size keeps changing each time i download it.i restored the orginal file for now.
Title: Re: Wild West V1.01
Post by: TheOtherMicheal on April 10, 2017, 04:40:46 PM
I'd be willing to bet that it's not the file itself, it's the download process.

I have exactly the same sort of problems with this site downloading any file. Some day's it's good and some days it's utter crap. It's not just this site either, I have the same problem with the Black Liquid site and also a site for the Transport Fever game.
I think it has everything to do with MS Windows and the sites themselves.

As for the different file sizes you kept getting, again it's a download problem with some part of the process. For example, the file size could be 4.85 meg, you start to download and suddenly at 3.5 meg the download acts like it's complete (when obviously it's not).
The only recommendation I can make is to try downloading with a different internet connection (I have a tablet that has its own net connection and I  usually have to make use of that to download from here).

Even then it isn't perfect, I've had a nasty time lately trying to download the Mega Mod Deco pack from drive, each time I do it "completes" yet it isn't the correct size and when I click on the icon in game it crashes. Today I sat and watched it download to make sure it went all the way. Not tested it yet though.

that seemed to be the problem i had. anywhere from 50% up ,it said download complete.took me way too many tries. i even tried the gf computer and it did the same thing. not even sure what i did to fix it. i tried pausing the download at 50% and then restarted it,i tried tunring firewalls off ,etc. it took 3 tries to get the original file the other day. glad it finally worked. this mod with RED"s train camp makes a nice wilderness fort village.

Thank you for the mod update, off to download now :)

PSA
__________
For those the need to download via Nexus, you will need to create a free user account (it's cool ;) )
All downloads over 2MB need a registered account to download files.

When you try to register it will take you to a list of paid subscription choices, ignore that, scroll right to the bottom and "Create Account", you do not need a paid account.  It took me a few mins to read the page correctly where I saw the "you do not need a paid account", oops ..  hahaha.  I have no idea where my glasses are, I think I need to find them, lol.

As RK said, my fix is only for the flags I added.
To fix the vanilla tradeport, if someone else made my mistake, you need RK's file.

At the time I thought that was the way to go, but Kralyerg only sent 'example' files.
I added them all to Wild West and it changed vanilla trader. Now they are removed.

I have uploaded the mod to Nexus.

The music from the 70' 80's and even 90's. Wish I could travel back to those times.
Since then it went, forgive me for saying, backwards and these days most music is just utter garbage.

Forgive me for hijacking your thread Kid, but the best concert I have seen (And I have been to quite a few)  is Queen in London 1986.
I have seen all(I mean I only went to one if they gave two concerts in the same week) Queen concerts given in the Netherlands and missed only the first one because my parents thought I was too young (13 or 14 at the time) but made that up with what is considered by critics to be Queens best performance ever in Wembley Stadium in London,  together with of course there performance at Live Aid(1985).

I consider Queen one of the best bands ever in my list which also contains to just name a few of my huge list, Deep Purple (MK2, with Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Gillan, John Lord, Roger Glover, and Ian Paice. Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio doing the Vocals. I never cried when a member of a band died but cried when the news came (While I knew Freddie had Aids) that Freddie Mercury died.

Then of course Rush, Styx, Saga, U2, Joe Satriani, Kate Bush(So far ahead for the time) to name just a few.

@embx61 with your taste in music you are welcome to hijack anyones thread :)

Great bands, my Dad is a huge music listener and I grew up listening to all styles, Big Band, "World", Bagpipes, Hard rock, Blues, Classic Rock ...  Gospel & Choir ...  I have a hugely diverse collection.  I miss my Dad and my drives where he would quiz me everytime he would drive me anywhere, he'd have the radio and I was to guess the song & band, if I was clever, the decade too.  Then of course, I got too old for my Daddy to drive me places, now I have a husband who does.  LOL

Aussie Rock, now that's something worth listening to.  But, I'm with you, some of the modern "noise", is just that.  I know each generation says the same thing, but, these days - the just weird compilations ...  ugh.
My son loves composing digital music, he's quite good too.  Garageband has a lot going for it!!!

I love rock & rolll  .... put another dime in the jukebox.
*sighs

@kid1293 I just managed to get it today from Nexus, and the file details show the mod date of 23/04/2017 - is this correct?
I ask as the upload date shows the 29/04/2017, with the new name - which is what I thought, so is it just a case of that you corrected the minor bug a week ago, but have only now had a chance to upload it?

I was just worried you've uploaded the older file, not the newer one with the correction.  :)
(Been there, done that a few times, LOL)

I understand your puzzlement. Yes, it is a week old.

I had another reason to remove the flags I had put into it, so I
had a already compiled version when I read about the trader.
I remembered the discussion with Kralyerg and realized
I couldn't wait releasing it.

First it was a cosmetic change - that turned nescessary.

You're all forgiven! People talk where they meet.
(shall we meet two blocks away to talk? ::) )

I have a soft spot for progressive music of all kinds.
King Crimson, Yes, Gentle Giant and a lot of italian prog.

Both old (70's) and new (2000-). There was a big dropout
in 80-90 (punk, metal...) but the genre has been revived.

I was going through some older threads, updating data for the database, and I saw this post :)

Sure, let's do coffee (or tea, soda, herbs, as you will), as long as there is a jukebox in it kitted out with all the classics of our childhoods, and of course, to suits the tastes of now :)  I'll listen with an open ear to anyone's new suggestions of music.  Maybe in a chitchat thread sub-forum, we can talk about our love of music, all of us, and see if there is anything new we can all listen :D

Oh, I had a quick listen to the music you told me about earlier @kid1293 and I am interested in hearing other new (for me) music inspirations :)  My music collection is on my old Big Mama, and she's not here with me to turn on and blare out the noise she contains.  :D   Maybe in a week ....  So for now, it's YouTube :D

Hi @QueryEverything - I just woke up (4.30 am) and couldn't go back
to sleep. Might as well chat. :)
Music is universal. It's created as an extension of our minds, so it is
really talking to us. I have been all over the place and listen to classic,
folk, blues (not so much jazz) and of course a lot of rock.
I use to say I listen to everything from Vivaldi to Motorhead and that covers a lot!

One's favorite music tells much about you. I have a taste for more complex
music than 4/4 and a pumping bass. It tells I am not all satisfied with myself
and want change all the time. Maybe if I move to ... Tibet ? and have no music
input I can find peace again. Who knows?
Until then I experiment. Life is the journey, not the goal. Rambling....
Must find my coffee. :)

Just hanging out in the Wild West mod and decided I'd like a bevvie or 2 and set some workers to make me some ale and some liqueur from the Mission, and nothing happened, yet I have a full market of raw products.

Now, your White Swan works fine in the Row Houses, so - I'm wondering if there is a funky tag happening?

I use a couple of inedible mods - I wonder if the White Swan has an 'inedible' tag, but the other 2 do not. :)

You can see the Banniminions running backwards & forwards to the market and their workplace, so I'm taking a wild punt and suggesting, it's a tag thing :)

It's cool, if you don't want to add it, if it is indeed what's missing, I'll just make a note to just use the White Swan :D

Indeed! Rowhouse tavern has inedible flags, the others not.
(I have changed)

It's frustrating with such small errors.
20 megs here, 25 megs there when updating everything.
I wait a day or so if more needs to be fixed.

Rowhouse Town Halls have their new doors.
After @brads3 suggestion I changed the pub to have the
3 texture variants the other houses have. The red roof will
also be there.
I am about to fix linen clothes for Rowhouse Tailor.

The vanilla one works great with the wood roofs but always thinking a boarding house to go with the others would be awesome.

Life goes on! Adding a bit more weight and missing many opportunities
to get fresh air. (D....d computer). Feel a bit worn out but also satisfied.
It is very rewarding to do a big job and the feeling when it is complete.
I hope I can keep that feeling if I am going to put new textures on Rowhouses.

KId,would the old tavern roof changed to red look like the roof tiles enough? that way you just have to change the color of the texture some. hopefully that will save you some work and be easier. it looks like the same texture TOM used.

min van @kid1293 , I am thinking ahead to my next map and am wondering if there is anything other than the mayor's office in this 107 mod that would be a problem with 106 game because of new flags?  With the stone house addon I had no problem as long as I did not build the town hall.

snalla ge rad, tuck    ;D

@kid1293 , I think a circle of covered wagons would look good just outside of town.   :)

In my current town, I have the Mayor's office (town hall) as the only town hall.  Some nomads arrived.  But the Wild West Mayor's Office doesn't have a tab or way to accept or deny nomads.  So, I have about 10 nomads hanging out in front of the town hall, just loitering.

Kid (http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=profile;u=2582), is there supposed to be a way to deal with nomads with your Mayor's Office?

@galensgranny
No, the Mayor has nothing to do with nomads!

It turned out they weren't actually nomads, at least not human nomads, since after lingering a while, they walked for miles across the map and disappeared into a mountain!  :o Who knows what would have happened to the town if the Mayor had accepted them!

They were nomads, sure. After waiting two months and no decision from you
they walk off the map the way they came.
Wonder what you have to attract them?

I am not sure what attracted them.  I'll have to look around my town, but your Mayor House was the only town hall.  I know one of your wells can attract nomads, but I didn't put that in.  I am using 2 statues Embx made, but they are said to be only deco.

I discovered what attracted the nomads.  It was the lamp post from the DS Fences and Decorations mod.  I put one in front of your Wild West Mayor's House, so it seemed like they were going to the town hall (Mayor's House).  I never thought the lamp posts would attract nomads.

Good you found it. It is annoying when mods hide like that.

I only found it was the lamp post by accident when I went to click on the Mayor's House to check the town stats, and clicked the lamp post instead.  I was surprised to find the option to accept or deny nomads.  I am glad I finally found what was attracting the nomads.  Lots of nomads since I had those lamp posts in a few different areas.

They should come with a warning. <May attract strangers>  ;)

very strange.

I do not think it could be my Lamp Post, I just checked the code and could not spot a discrepancy.
Can you post a screenshot?

:)

Actually, I think it is Kid's Lamp post, it's in one of his wonderful sets!

It may be my lamppost from Forest Outpost.

I recently realized that I had used both Discrepancy's lamp posts, and also Kid's from the forest outpost.  I had not at that time read the whole description to note it attracted nomads. I had three of Kid's lamp posts so lots of nomads kept showing up.   :D   I am glad I only had three of them.
