Can a trader's boat cross the bars in this lake to get to a TP on the inner shore?

Go not to the oracle, for it will say both yea and nay.

Click to build a TP. Hover the TP footprint over those bars. If the dock (riverside) portion of the TP shows up green instead of red, it should be navigable.

Which direction will the boats come from?

RedKetchup

the first one in the north they will pass it for sure, the 2nd one in the south not sure, sometimes TP bugs if you put them directly in a 'swamp' like that. the best example is the famous '1008 LV seed'. (if you put a TP directly on the left at lake, the TP never gets its boats).

but usually merchants are very good to get where they need, even in a lake accessed by a creek which connect the main river. or even a TP direct on a creek with access to main river.

I had a trading post in a similar position, and it worked.

Well, I'll give it a try.

This is an example where some small civil engineering tools should be provided.

I have some screen shots of trader boat "crossing the bar" from my River challenge. The first is the trading post he was trying to reach. The second focuses on the boat.

I never did get to find out.  That village died of starvation.  Careless of me.

I've seen that too, but not as severe as in your case.
