That's another option for sure. :)  Though perhaps more suited for smaller villages than a main town.

Year 78:

Choo-Choo Mod trade area. Trading has stopped as I ran out of fur to sell and coins to buy. Reserve of logs is critically low as well. Another Kid's Log Depot will be built above the left locomotive. Fenced off areas will hold deco trees and other plants.

Someone should really mod a zombification disease... ;D  Low chance of transmission but 100% fatal. :o

It was and still is. I don't use so many things from it than before but it is one of the main mods that is always enabled in every game.

Year 86:

Newest trading docks completed. One apple and pear orchards already planted, one of each still waiting. Added honey and mead production.

Closeup on the DS hospital. Empty fenced area on the right will be filled with Necora's deco trees while the empty area on the shore with real trees.

The empty area on the right will house a walnut orchard, school, apothecary, and DS quays.

I just can't get enough of these new flowers made by Kid.

One of my next plans is to remove the potato field and replace it with two of Kid's greenhouses to grow turnips. I will also relocate DS glassmaker and RK old blacksmith to the south of the canal. DS fishing dock will be moved across the river and placed on the tip of that small peninsula. And I'll probably squeeze a small cemetery and a mini forester on the emptied space.

Two girls cooling off in the shade behind a hostel after finishing their laundry washing chores.

Amazing! How big is your town now? Any lags?

Year 98:

711 citizens living in Castle Rock XIII at the moment. The game lags a bit due to all the deco stuff. I always play at 2x speed. For an unrelated test I let it run at 10x for a couple of years. Game speed seemed the same.

Some statistics:

I love your town, @Gatherer !  It's so carefully and beautifully laid out. It's made me realise how mundane and dull my towns look and made me vow to try harder with the aesthetics.  Do you add the decorative items as you go along or do you build a specific area first and then go back and add the deco?

I am not a Gamer because I don't have a life but because I choose to have many.

I've always found much the same thing. At some point around 6-700 citizens 10X and 5X start to look much alike, though sometimes I think that 5X actually works better because the game isn't trying to run at 10X.

I mostly build the area first or at least place down paused buildings and then add deco stuff. As you can see from the pictures there are also built up areas still lacking decorations after several decades.

Year 103:

I've had some problems placing the quay pieces but in the end I think it turned out well. Pieces from Kid's Washing Mod will fill the area between the school and the houses.

Extracting clay to produce bricks and roof tiles for the main town. RK Old Blacksmith has already been moved from it's previous location. DS Glassmaker will be placed behind it and DS Sand Pit across the road.
