DS Stone Bridge  -  v1.2  -  05 Feb 2018

Build a large stone bridge in your town. Mostly modular in construction, it can allow many variations and layouts.
The bridge walkways sit 1.37m above ground height.
The mod is large and has many parts. I suggest exploring everything first and then planning and laying down the bridge.
Some buildings come with a bridge walkway section as part of the model. Read the toolbar tooltips as they will give you more indication on use.

It does but it's hard to see in the water. If I remember right, you have to zoom all the way out to see it. I'm not sure if it works with that blue circle mod you're using.

Maybe someone else will confirm or correct me on this. I no longer have the map I was playing when testing this mod and it's going to be a while before I can start building the bridges again.

Anyway it should be seen on the ground. Vanilla fishing circle works fine.

This is a great set, Discrepancy!   Sometimes I would wind up with a map with so much water so just exited to find a map with more land.  But now I can better build onto the water, and with sturdy buildings.

I sent you a private message about this set but even though it said it was sent, when I look in my "sent messages", there is nothing.  So I don't know if the message really got sent.  Aside from thanking you for this set, something I said in that message is that the name "Stone Bridge" sounds like it is only a bridge.  Since it is so much more, if you ever thought to change the name, maybe "Stone Bridge Plus" would be good.

Just out of curiosity, was the problem there?

I adjusted more of the bridge piece templates MapDescription pathBitmap to allow boat travel (and more zigzag).
Plus I changed all the pathType to Water.

I tested numerous times, by itself, with my other mods added, the north, a few others and I had trade boats always stop.

I used all bridges.

the normal construction bridge,
the new drawbridge pieces,
the 2x2 or 2x1 Stone Bridge Extension, (**the 2x2 fishing spot will NOT allow boat travel, this was always intentional - perhaps this is what is catching players out?)
2x3 pillar piece, the end pieces when utilized with at least 1 2x2 or 2x1 extension it should allow boat travel.
I have also altered some of the house, storage and ramp pieces to do the same.
I have not tested with CC, so i'll be interested to see if players still have issues.

:)

I have a couple more production facilities to build in Red's Editor's Choice mod, then a little testing on them, then I'll be able to test your new Stone Bridges. The map I'm currently playing on doesn't have any lakes on the river on it.

Will you be updating the wooden bridge set soon, @Discrepancy? They also block boats for me. I'm guessing you will be adding the water opacity to them sooner or later, too.

Success! The updated stone bridges let boats pass on a CC Lake Waters map.  :)

But it looks like there's a new problem, @Discrepancy. The stone bridge end fishing spot won't work. Workers are reluctant to go there, and when they finally do go there they do a bit of work and then idle endlessly. They basically get stuck there and can't leave. I need to investigate a bit more, but I built the exact same bridge in my previous game (using the same map seed) and the fishing spot worked fine. So something has changed in the updated version?

I love the water opacity on the bridge pillars. It's a small detail but it really makes a difference.  :)

Discrepancy, this is an awesome mod. But a couple minor and self-correcting issues with the v1.2 update.

• In demolishing the End Fishing Spot a crate of fish was left floating in mid air. After rebuilding the crate was properly placed and removed per usual. But had I not rebuilt...

• In rebuilding both the Tiny UnderHouse and Tiny UnderStorage buildings, the build versions are offset by one tile. Initial placement and final result are fine, but the build steps had me thinking I placed them incorrectly.

Thanks for all your great mods.

I had the same problem with the floating fish crate with v1.1. I haven't seen this in 1.2 so I'm guessing it was a bug in the old version.

Thanks for that info :)

@Freedom , if the End Fishing Spot is still doing this after this last update on new constructions that is something I'll need to look at again. As I just re-did the interact points fixing the non-work bug.

Also thanks for the build stage info. I'd forgotten about that... a lot of shared build models in this mod.

Thanks @elemental for all of your bug finding :)

@Discrepancy, to be clear, I demolished the fishing end spot under v1.1 and it left the fish crate. Then saved, updated to v1.2, and rebuilt it, clearing the crate as expected.

@Discrepancy - I wasn't sure if I should post this in this topic or the Jetty bridge topic, but here it is.  :-\

In the first shot below, we see a gal fishing off the the jetty fishing spot. In the second shot we see the same gal, a couple of seconds later, walking on water to gather her catch.

Did I miss a section of bridge here, or is that just the way it is?

BTW! I like the new under bridge house and storage, as shown in the shots.  ;D

I'm thinking outside the box a little bit here...

Would it be possible to make a ferry crossing using modular pieces like the bridges and jetties? Not really necessary for rivers, but for large lakes it looks a bit strange having huge bridges spanning long distances. Realistically they would've just use a boat to cross the lake.

So... if there was a building at the shore that looks like a ferry wharf that bannies disappear inside, and then some underground tunnel pieces that can be placed across/under the lake, and then another ferry wharf on the other side that bannies would re-emerge from we would basically have an underground modular bridge that looks like a ferry crossing. Throw in some ghost boats to help the illusion.

Would this work, @Discrepancy?

interesting concept, @elemental. it kinda has been discussed but now we have better water options.i expand your idea and add a fishing boat with simialr access in middle of the lakes. or maybe even a trader modded like RED's train but as a ship.

I like the fishing boat idea. It would basically be the same thing as a fishing spot at the end of a long jetty, but it would look very different.

I still do think something can be done though. Just requires a lot of time.... one day ;)

I never did get an answer to my question above, in post #19 (http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=2138.msg45576#msg45576), but here's a shot of some Stone Bridge work, with a little Jetty Bridge stuff thrown in.  ;D

I'm not done yet. I'm going to further extend the section in the top right, and split it into two more land ends. Probably throw some more production facilities, storage  and houses

OK! That makes sense. I can live with that. It might be best to use it in a lake that is a little further out of the way, instead of the main lake on a map. That would work.  :)

A building that collects wood becomes... a pile of useless wood.  ???

Even if a building makes stuff out of nothing, it still needs labour to do that. So it's never totally free.

@Discrepancy - Just had an interesting thing happen with the Stone Bridge mod; specifically - the Archive Tower. It seems it is attracting nomads.
I do have one other 'Hall of Records' installed - the one from @kid1293's Medieval Grace (http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=407) mod, but it doesn't attract nomads either.
I do have the latest version of the Stone Bridge mod also. I built this Archive Tower on a previous map and it never did attract nomads. That was with an earlier version of this mod.

I don't have anything else installed that has a 'Town Hall' type of building and I don't think i have anything installed, like wells or something, that attracts nomads. Even if I have a mod installed that has one of these, it's not placed in game - to the best of my knowledge. I will go back and double check, just to make sure, but I am about 80 years into this map and the past 10 years or so have been just trying to maintain the necessary needs of the community. The Medieval Grace Hall of Records has been on the map for most of this game.

Here's a lis of the mods I have installed, in the right install order.

You can see in the screenshot all the nomads hanging around the Archive Tower. I hope they disperse at some point.
There's also a shot of Kid's 'Hall of Records'.

Edit 1: Just a quick update: They did leave in the Autumn, after arriving in the Spring.

Hello all,
I have a question...   Has anyone any screenshots of the Left and Right Bridge pieces built in the game?  I am confused as to how they work and what parts to use with them.   I LOVE this bridge set, been building bridges all over the place, but these pieces are baffling me!  :P

I don't have pics but I have used it. It is a draggable bridge, just like all the other normal bridges. It looks like the modular stone bridges but it doesn't have wooden railings. It is designed to be 2 squares wide so you need to use the left and right pieces side by side. Left goes on the western side for north-south bridges and on the northern side for east-west bridges (north being the top of the mini map). If that doesn't make sense then save your game before you build, just in case.  :)

You don't really need these draggable bridges because the modular set can give you the same result. The only (minor) benefit that I can think of is the bannies walk in straight lines over the draggable bridges, whereas on the modular parts they walk in a zig zag pattern. It's a very minor difference.

@elemental is correct. They work like normal bridges.

I suggest using with a flatten terrain tool to make an even embankment on both sides of river/lake. only build 1 bridge at a time to ensure they match up and you build the correct side, you will need to use the Ramps/Stairs at the ends after construction.
