Chapter 12

By early spring of year 13, the warehouse was completed. It was an impressive building with plenty of storage space and an upstairs lounge where Santa could take a break and enjoy milk and cookies while overseeing the loading of his sleigh from the tower windows.  It needed a few more Christmas decorations to make it look more festive.  The nearby general store made it easy to transfer the needed merchandise to the warehouse.

That summer our orchard forester began harvesting the first oranges.  By early winter there were 400 oranges in storage just waiting to be picked up and taken to the warehouse.  The first pecans were also being harvested.  The 6 elves that stopped by earlier in the year advised us to have 1,000 of each stocking stuffer on hand for Santa.  There would be apples and oranges, walnuts and pecans, and candy and gingerbread cookies.  We had a lot of merchandise moving to do.

@brads3 North Pole South is south of The North.  Tom's game is perfectly safe.

@RedKetchup the size of the warehouse is fine, nice large building, with nice selection of roof colors.  I used it in Haunted Hallow, it matched well with Kid's Gothic mod, just had to use it again.  :)

Chapter 13

North Pole South Annex was doing quite well.  In early spring of year 14 we had a population of 138, 78 adults, 15 of which were Santa's elves, plus 21 students and 39 young children, all 100% happy and healthy.  Our education rate had risen to 50%.   We had 41 families but only 37 homes, we needed to build more housing.  Two colorful little houses were built over by the general store.

Garlan, the resource merchant, when he arrived said he had no idea when the cows we ordered would get here so we built another animal shed.  We wanted to be sure to have enough milk on hand to go with the cookies when Santa arrived.

Because the workplace baker was making herb bread, we were short on herbs.  The baker switched to baking nut bread instead since we had plenty of walnuts, half the required number was already in the warehouse.  The laborers immediately began collecting herbs.

The orange and pecan harvests were very good this year but they still waited in storage to be taken to the warehouse.  Another worker was added to the warehouse staff to help collect the stocking stuffers.  We already had enough apples and candy.  We would add 20 extra gingerbread to go with the 20 milk we had on hand for Santa.  Everyone in town was excited that Santa would be coming here soon.

Intriguing!

If they don't fill the stockers...  does it mean Santa stays until they are full? :)

Well now, if Santa has to wait around maybe I should stock more milk and gingerbread.  ;D

Chapter 14

Over the winter we began building a red creamery.  We had no cows in the pasture but we all liked the one on the weather vane up on the creamery roof.  We had enough milk from the animal sheds to begin making cheese.  A small wedge of cheese would go nicely with a mug of mulled wine.

In early summer of year 15, Trenataly, the farmer died of an unknown cause.  The town was saddened by its first loss.

In late summer, Mannine, the livestock merchant, finally arrived with Fresian cows.  We traded almost all of our trade goods for 10 of the black and white cows.  They huddled together for awhile afraid of their new surroundings but before long they were on their way to the pasture.  The cows were already giving milk before the last cow made it to the pasture.

With stockpiling stocking stuffers for Santa we were concerned that the citizens of North Pole South might not have enough treats for this Christmas but after inquiring about their pantries it was discovered that everyone in town had pantries full of firewood and food, a nice assortment of meats, fruits and vegetables, and special Christmas treats.  By year's end, the warehouse only needed oranges and pecans.

@RedKetchup , I like all the colors, especially the blue, but for this map I am sticking to the Christmas colors of red and green.  It is a nice shade of green  :)

Chapter 15

That winter of year 15 we examined our food supply more closely.  We had plenty of wild oats for breakfast and there was more than enough wheat and barley for flour.  Our supply of herb and nut breads was sufficient.  In early spring of year 16, we decide to grow carrots in one of the greenhouses, we would then have all the ingredients for a hearty mutton or venison stew with carrots, potatoes, onions, and mushrooms.   There would also be smoked fish this year and chestnuts roasting on an open fire.  The Christmas bakers continued to make plum cakes and gingerbread cookies, there was plenty of milk and the Nog Nook kept us supplied with eggnog.  Santa's workshop gifted us with ale and the Yule Taps produced plenty of apple cider and mulled wine.

During the summer of year 16 we realized we had done quite well here in the center of this small plains south of the North Pole, our town center was bustling with activity and had a town hall built of gingerbread and a beautiful Christmas tree.  On the east side of town we grew apples and oranges and pecans, and we had dairy cows and a creamery.  On the west side across the river we had animal sheds, plums, walnuts, and chestnuts, and colorful two-story houses.

In early autumn we held our breaths hoping the pecan harvest would be enough to fill the warehouse with the required number of pecans by this Christmas.  The pecans were the last stocking stuffers needed to fill Santa's sleigh.

Chapter 16

In December of year 16, our North Pole South Annex has a population of 159, 95 adults, 16 of which are Santa's elves.  We have 21 students and 43 young children.  Our education rate is 60%   We are happy and healthy and have a warehouse full of stocking stuffers.  Santa and all his reindeer have arrived and, as we speak, he is warming up in the warehouse lounge having milk and cookies while the sleigh is being loaded.

So weary traveler, you better hurry home and hang your stocking and say your prayers, then jump in bed and cover up your head cuz Santa Claus comes tonight.
