Nice story and build Brads3. Very much enjoying it!
A fair warning though, that charcoal kiln has two work positions and that tree is or very close to it.
you'll need to put down a road or grass path around the charcoal kiln to mitigate a CTD.

Cheers.

the pine mod was handy to help the boatbuilders with turpentine and ropes. that charcoal might be needed to make the items for the DS trade posts hoping we can trade for some of the items before we get way over the stream. the kiln hasn't seen a problem yet.maybe they cut the tree.

YEAR 20 REVIEW

population doubled to 137 in 36 houses. we worked our way east. the jade quarry supplies the new farm trade post. the hunter's outpost brings in leather and furs. hunters and trappers stay at the inn when they come to town.a group of settlers from the Landing Fort   improved our city services. a hospital, market, and a 2nd school were constructed. the pine forest supplies twine ropes and turpentine for the boat builders.they also supply logs for the sawmill.we now have chickens, red cows, and pigs. our trade posts have brought in bean, potato, rasberry, and grape seeds.

over the next 10 years, i want to expand into the valley beyond the mine hill. the bannies can start planting the grapes for the wineries. we will need another forest and more farms.we still needd a grain seed.

YEAR 20 and 21

17 new settlers arrived in late spring.6 couples,a 10 year old,and 4 young children. 1 couple will help the foresters cut logs and make tools for the jade quarry workers.another  decides to fish the lake on the other side of the pine forest. a 3rd family moves south to fence a pasture for the pigs.

as always we have extra items and needed to move goods faster, the trade post expanded to include a RK stone dock TP.the hope is merchants will bring Ds goods to build the city later.

in our 21st year, 2 more couples of the settlers work to dig a stone quarry. they also work to collect beeswax to make candles with.

we traded for 4 bison, root, and veggy seeds. a deal was made with the boat builders. the RK blacksmith makes steel tools and 2 workers are sent to the multi-mine.

YEAR 22 and 23

we need a 25x20 pasture for the bison. a KID forester and gathering hut are planned between the livestock farms and the wine valley. while we have time, several of the villagers use it to build houses for the graduates.the boat builders have had requests for fish nets. the only official boat shop known to Banished was constructed, the Sherbrooke boat shop.

we have 50 houses.there are 10 laborers supplying 2 builders.

YEAR 24 to 26

it was late summer, when Deon and DEll arrived with their daughter Benity and her 2 children.they work to clear land and build in the wine valley. they will soon have honey from all the bees that pollinate the grapes.

the boat builders took time to cut 147 logs for us to make up for those they used to make boats. a merchant finally brought oat seed. the goat farmers plant 2 fields. several other fields were switched to oats as well.

Deon's cousins arrive in year 26  to build the Autumn Leaves taverrn. this will make the grape wine.the 4 will help clear the land for more grape orchards.the Autumn Leaves makes ale from apples but it matches with the houses too well not to use it.

YEAR 27 to 29

a market will move supplies for the wine valley. the KIDS forest exended south. a hunter works  between the 2.

a merchant brought a group of 5 bannies to town. they were waundering lost along the river.  1 couple established a kitchen near the main market. they make flour and nut bread. the others headed to help the boat builders. they've been busier lately repairing boats. a DS coal bell pit will inrease the coal outputs that is traded for food.

we moved the pigs to a larger pasture near the stream.the pigs will be much happier with the cool mud to roll in.the goat farmers cleared a pasture to fence the goats. the wine brewers planted a garden and added their 2nd beekeeper to pollinate more grape ochards. they have built our 3rd school.

YEAR 30 REVIEW

population again doubled to 290. half adult workers and 10% students. there are 63 houses plus the inn.  KID foresters work the south side of the mine hill.a mini forester works with the pine forest to our north. the wine valley is busy planting grape orchards.  we expanded the trade posts. the lake provides plenty of fish. more merchant and fishermen have stopped at the boat shop for fish nets, ropes, or repairs. the goats multiplied. the trade posts brought in the grain seed we needed. we have added root, cucumber, veggy, tomato, and strawberry seeds.we also traded for bison and goats. the merchants have brought some of the building materials for the DS trade posts that will be needed.

the start town has 2 markets,3 schools,a huge trade district,1 hospital with a cemetary and herb grower.there's a hunters outpost, inn, and post office. counting the winery, there are 2 taverns.we have 2 forest areas and several mines and quarries. they do have a butcher and bakery.

the trade district has been busy. i think it is working well. RED's farm trade post has helped us acquire many seeds and livestock. we have traded huge amounts of marble, that is overpowered, and some jade.  we have fish nets, twine<ropes>,and turtpentine from the pine mod. since the boat shop won't move these, the trade posts have to sell them. the boat shop does exchange coal for coins. some of the coins are stocked at the trade posts and some is traded by the wharehouse factory<RED's train engine> for cherries. a KID's train car sells more coal for walnuts.it is a roundabout way of working. it is neat way of using the different mods. the shop fits well with the lake theme.1 advantage to the train mods are they don't need mico-managed. other than switching the input of RED's engine to bring in firewood or logs, the boat shop functions on its own.

next 10 year goals- as the bannies multiply, they will add to the areas around the start town. we need to cross the stream and start work on the city. the plan is to use RED's colorful houses. some do need glass which we don't have yet. the veggy and strawberries will be planted along the south map edge.north of the fields,we do want some food processors and then the DS trade posts along the lake shore.beyond that the plan is quite flexible. i do think we will need some factories and wharehouses to store and move supplies. it is a huge area. we'll get across the stream and see how it goes.

YEAR 30 to 32

step 1 to crossing the stream. we moved builders and laborers south, extended the road, and built a DS stone bridge. then we started a work pile near the bridge. rough measurements-we have 20 spaces for the trade district,40 for a city and 20 for farms along the southern border.

step 3 is to lay a road to connect the south bridge with a nomad crossing. west of this is where the city will go. while the road was being cleared, a couple moved near the nomad bridge to fish.

a group of 10 arrive.4 couples with 2 children. they will plow fields along the stream and start clearing land for the city.  work is slow with the distance ,but we make progress. the road between the bridges is started. the south road has been started also.

the country farmers added food pantries for storage.they set up a sorting shed for the veggy's and 2 farmyards for firewood.they continued clearing land south for a pasture. while the pasture was being cleared, the bannies decided on the Sherbrooke school to keep the farm children educated.

YEAR 33

by now there have been more graduates. the village needed more housing.there were a lot of 16 year old newly weds.the wine valley built the EB winery to process the grapes. they continue to expand the orchards northward.it may look strange, but the CC orchard forest will plant the grapes more efficiently than clearing  fields.

YEAR 34 and 35

while the villagers were busy,10 settlers arrived. 3 couples ,a young worker, and 3 children. they head south to stretch the country farms to the west. both the marble and jade quarries had to be improved. the country farms added a blacksmith and more storage. they have kept busy widening roads and cutting trees.

the country farmers traded for black and white dairy cows for their pasture.once more the inn is empty.

brads3

YEAR 36 and 37

The south forest workers have complained bout the walk to school. a colonial school is built for them and the livestock farmers.the miners expanded and dug another mine for iron and coal. the wine valley dug a well to water the orchards from.

the start village has outgrown itself. there isn't much space left for housing. the farm trade post has taken in many seeds and livestock.it will be upgraded to a normal trade post.this will improve our trading and increase the storage.

the country farmers have continued clearing land.finally they have worked their way west to the edge of where the city will be built. the road north to the nomad crossing has been layed out and cleared. there is a lot of land between the stream and the city zone. this large area will probably be left to forest to provide logs and firewood. it does form a nice break between the 2 towns. the  huge maps do give enough land to build counties more than just 1 town.

pic 1: colonial school

pic 4: south country farm overview, the road on the left runs north to the nomad crossing.to the west of it will be the city.farms will continue across the south. are we there yet? a long ways to go.

brads3

YEAR 38 and 39

i try to build in a way that makes sence to the bannies. as each area grows the population, that area expands. this has worked, but will get tighter as there is less space to the start village. the foresters are crowded and do need more houses. they will expand across the stream. due to the flow of the stream, mini foresters with KID's gatherer and hunter are used. we needed the smaller radius for the foresters.

10 settlers arrive. 7 workers and 3 children. they continue the expansion of farms along the south city road. they doubled the size of the school. 1 young bannie decided to build a lighthouse along the lake shore.once the inn was emptied, the mini foresters completed their houses.

YEAR 40 REVIEW

population growth has slowed. we are at 448 citizens,98 students, in 99 houses and the inn. the country farmers to the far south has been settled by 3 groups of 10 nomads.the road extends north to the nomad crossing where a lighthouse has been built. they have a double Sherbooke school and blacksmith. the farm trade post was upgraded to a general.the wine valley expanded north and built the EB winery and picnic area. both marble and jade quarries were dug deeper and a KID tiny mine was added. the foresters worked across the river to give a break between the 2 towns.

the start village is about out of space. we also stuggle to keep up on firewood.the forest expansion should solve that soon.we need 6 houses for newlyweds at the start village.

goal for the next deacde- expand the country farms half way across the southern edge of the city.then work north and establish a market and wharehouse district. the city houses will need glass. we'll need a sand pit and glass factory.

YEAR 40

the country farms fenced a 2nd pasture for pigs.the villagers have already been breeding them. to supply firewood there a wood cutter will work near the mini forests. a chop chop is set near the start village market.the wine valley built a DS fuel market to help store  their firewood.
tool and clothing limits are increased to 1000. workers are doubled and more houses have been built.
