Title: BRAD'S SETTLING of AMERICA SERIES: BEVERSET town #2
Post by: brads3 on May 27, 2017, 10:50:15 AM
1 mod change: ketchup has been moved below CC to fix the tomato seed label.that was the only known glicth. all other mods are the same as FORT LANDING.

map settings:valleys, very large map, mild and medium start. same also except more land and less water
   code: Beverset 254180752

YEAR 1 TO 3:
a merchant was kind enough to give 14 of us a ride out of the cove and up a river. he said he would check back now and then to see how we were doing.having spent all his time on the water, he could offer little information as to what we might encounter farther inland.he did mention there were INDIAN villages farther up the river and he knew of other groups that followed the bison herds.
we were given some seeds and supplies. we would grow apples, wheat, and potatoes.the fort governor requested that we establish a lumber town and send logs and food back to the fort.
land is cleared for 2 fields and an orchard.a quick hunter will supply food for the summer.our mini Th and some workplaces will be built before we start constructing houses.by fall, the construction was completed.5 houses.woodcutter, tailor, and mini blacksmith. all with their own sheds.and our mini TH.
our wheat field that was cleared and planted 1st produced better here away from the salty ocean air.it yielded 700 wheat.we had good fertile soil here.

by the following summer,we already needed more storage. an EB bs market would keep supplies handy for the toolmaker and woodcutter.thinking ahead we decided to build a mineral market too. by winter our potatoes produced over 600 and our aples  over 1300 and still they were falling.the merchant had dropped us at a very good spot.we were filling storages so fast,  the bannies began to throw boxes behind their homes.

in year 3,we began construction on larger storage markets just up hill from the river. the merchant had warned us it that it often flooded in spring and fall. we could see the debris and the high rocky bluffs it had created as it wound around through this valley.in case the children waundered too close, a lookout tower would keep watch. hopefully,he will spot traveling merchants or Indians.a cemetary is planned next.hopefully, it will not be needed for quite some time.

What? You abandoned your landing place, just as it started to be funny? Starvation and such things! ;)

In any case; I wish you luck. In any case; this map will be easier!

YEAR 4:

as the last of the snow falls,i took time to check the inventories of out houses.everyone is well stocked.they prefer firewood. after talking with the families,i am confused as to why some choose not to use thatch any more than why some like onions and others do not.this group of bannies like others i have seen before have minds of their owns. as long as they are happy and healthy,i will not be concrened.
a well is dug so we don't have to carry water so far. i do hate having to dig down so far to hit water.i do wish we could have found a small spring to use.if we were closer to the river, it might have made sence to use a Ds pump and have EB design an aquaduct system.30 feet down takes time, the bannies melted snow in the winter and in the spring they wanted a rain barrel instead of the well.this way they will have water all year though.
since we expect settlers to stop here on their way from the fort,a boarding house is constructed.it is a bit rustic looking. nobody wanted to clean the longer 1 and they said the design reminded them of a haunted hospital.the lodge design was too fancy.the barracks would be better if it had a wall in the center so 2 families could stay in it. a family on each side could then have room to have 4 children.
before the boarding house was finished,2 Indians showed up. they had got separated and lost from a hunting tribe following a bison herd.after following the river downstream for several days, they were glad to see people of any kind. all the bannies had many questions for them. their knowlegde of this new land would be very helpful.
after much debate, where they would build was finally decided. at 1st, 1 wanted to hunt and fish and boil maple sap.1 wanted a grassy meadow along the river to attact bison.since there was grass growing to the east,a fodder meadow could be nutured there. there were already rabbits and foxes to hunt.though the Indians wanted an Indian longhouse, we did not have the "artifact" to build it.they told us our technology was too advanced and laughed at us.
the Indains would stay in the boarding house all summer and tell us stories of bison hunts and of far off places.i asked tons of questions and jotted notes down.they told of different fish and game.of a sugary water drink made from trees.they taught us to read the sky and moon for storms.to watch squirrels to know how hard the next winter would be.there was much to learn of this new land.i asked many many questions and kept written notes that some day i could send back to the fort.
by winter, a forest cabin and fodder hut were finished. they fit well there in the meadow with the thatch already growing so well.will the new grass and mix with it? or will the fodder grass take over completely? more storage and a hunting lodge is planned. with no bison there yet, the trapper can find rabbits, foxes, squirrels, and skunks. work does go slow being so far to the east.the Indians pointed out different birds and the types of trees while we carried materials.they told us to be careful near the rocks because rattlesnakes sunned themselves there often.
with all the excitement, our meat reserves were low. i sent a quick hunter out for the winter.he would bring in deer near our crop fields quickly.

YEAR 5:
by spring, only the storage for ore and logs needs finishing.

population 24,14 adult,0 students,10 children. 71% educated.6 houses+boarding house.
young working female is 11.oldest children 1 is 9,1 is 8.
over half the food is fruit.

the quick hunter is moving to hunt deer stirred up near the Indians.a potato field is planted near the main storage barn.to keep us ahead and the bannies busy,i will build a furrier hut and the white swan tavern. soon we will have furs and pelts for the tailor. the tavern can start making cider.since we need to move supplies from the trapper to town,a EB farmstand will add to our markets.
during the winter, cider and wool coats will be  produced.we also work to clear land near the town for future buildings.

YEAR 6:
spring has come.i find that the tailor has drank half the cider, got drunk, and forgot to make fur coats. she did make a few pelt coats though.now that she sobered up, i have scolded her and sent her back to make fur coats. this means the vendor must stop and becomes the laborer.after i checked on everyone else, they were working as they were suppose to be.
the laborer and builder can now start to clear a path and road to the east. it will go slow since they have to watch out for rattlesnakes.with help from the woodcutter and blacksmith,we do get the road down before summer. the laborer can switch jobs and catch a break and someone else can move the logs and stone piles back to the markets.the builder decided on a location and dug a well for the fodder meadow and future needs.
as soon as the next child grew old enough, i called a meeting with the children.they were once again cautioned about the river and its dangers. a raised wooden house was to be built on the river flat and 1 of them would be sent to fish for trout.the Indians had told them the story of how the river had flooded and wiped out their village many many years ago. they were still young when it happened.the river came up quickly at night. by daylight they had lost over 200.they lost more in over several months to disease and starvation. when they found the bison herd, there were only 50 left.since the bison were sent to give them food and hides, they decided to travel with them since.our youngsters promised to stay on high ground.
since the support poles had to be driven deep into the ground, the wood house took til late winter to be finished.the scrap wood was used to for a leanto shed.it was small. when floods came,it could be emptied quickly. a young female moved in.the family that she had been staying with was expecting a newborn.

YEAR 7:
since some copperheads had been spotted,we would need to clear some debris from the river landing.
the tavern was shut down for the year to help.we still had over 1000 apples.though we had all enjoyed the cider this year, there was 184 more in stock.
i planned a school near the boarding house.hopefully soon new settlers will arrive, and it will be needed.keeping with that idea,we started to clear land along the road between the river and village.
the indians called the children to a safety meeting again. this time to caution them about bears. our tower had brought down several this past fall.though the bears were hibernating now, spring would be here soon.

year 8:
elbertina still worked as the tailor. her aunt and uncle worried about her living so close to the river. he had took up the trout fishing.our quick hunter had learned from the indians. he followed the deer herds from forest to forest and had hunted more deer that way. the venison count was now over 2000 plus we still had bear meat from last fall.not wanting to overhunt the deer,he would take the year off.the Indians just had their 2nd child.they continued to clear rocks from the meadow by themselves.they still missed their tribe and often told stories about them.our crops continued to produce well and our barns were always stocked. nobody needed anything done this spring.
i had the workers continue to clear more land near the boarding house.i had found another flat spot near the river. and was hoping to get a road there.as i had explored out from town,i noticed we had a good mining area to the south with mountains on both sides. forests grew thicker north of town.the meadow was a bowl with mountains all ariound it. there were only 2 small flat spots, 1 we used to get there from the village and 1 directly across to the east.going east as far as i walked was very open and grassy.i tried to take walks around in the fall just before the birds left for the winter.it was a very peaceful valley.
in the spring the children planted flowers outside the school. they sent a laborer, rayburner,to see the indians. they had caught him destroying bird nests. the indians said necora will teach us to respect nature.they claimed the gods will bring wrath upon us. they looked more fearful than i had ever seen them. i took notice when they stopped working and hoarded firewood and thatch both.
by fall the road to the south river flat was finished. the workers had worked hard and cut deep into the ground to keep it as smooth and flat as possable.as the workers stopped and looked up toward the village from the river, they nodded in approval. we were quite safe as high above the river we had built.
due to the indian warning 2 things happened. a vendor was sent to move stock out of the river leanto. the workers were sent to clear thatch from south of the houses.better safe we figured.

YEAR 9:

nothing bad happened and we survived to spring. the indians said the land must have accepted us.ray did get quite sick during the winter.it was odd because nobody else even had a fever.he appologized over and over as he lay in bed for several weeks.in spring, he planted bushes and lilacs for the birds to nest in.
always trying to keep busy,i sent the workers to extend the school road north.it would be a good place to start a log and lumber town.whenever the fort sent us more help,we would be ready to supply them with logs this way.as the road was extended,a lumberyard and log depot were constructed.as soon as the depot was finished our woodcutter ran over to test it out.even though it was a small project,it made the year go by fast with everyone busy.
with the watch tower bringing in boars and pheasants, the bannies quit eating the trout. we now had over 750 stored.the bannies always like to try new foods.they constantly checked with the indians to see what they had gathered while they planted and worked the meadow.the indians always educated the children on what was poisonous and what was good. even without a school our children were learning. sometimes i think they learned more useful information this way than a schoolhouse would teach.

YEAR 10:
spring finally came. it had been a cold winter.even with plenty of firewood and warm fur coats, several had colds this year.with our good diets, nobody stayed sick very long.

POPULATION 30,16 adult,14 children.63% educated and 7 houses.
food 10,000+,3900 potato,2500 wheat,550 apples,1300 deer,800 trout,plus more assorted roots,onions,and meat.
in 5 years,we have had 6 births.we put away over 6000 more food.we have another year before our school will be needed.more land has been cleared and several buildings built.

another dense apple orchard is planned behnd the storage barn.the apples do better on side hills.to help supply the Indians,a tiny market is built beside the pine storage barn.once it is finished,we will send a vendor to stock it. the others can clear trees and some rocks near the road staying far away from the rattlesnake lairs toward the north mountain.
as the vendor was about to start carrying logs and stone away from the meadow,10 new settlers showed up from the fort.they said according to the letter from the fort commander, a ship had arrived after we left with supplies. a few ships of settlers had been lost at sea in bad storms never making it acorss the ocean.some other settlers had gone off over the mountains on their own to trap and hunt.we were the only ones they had heard back from.more settlers are scheduled to arrive at the fort,if the seas stay calm.he sent a whole page full of questions for the indians.
there is 3 children,a teacher,a semi-retired undertaker,a pair of stablehands,a medic, and 2 young men.they had stayed only a month at the fort. they were eager to get out away from the salty air and join our town. the merchant had brought them up the river.to our south now was a huge lake. beavers had took logs we had floated down and dammed up a spot.
we gave them some time to dryout by the fire in the boarding house and stock it with food.after grazing their horses,we would quickly get to work building houses.
we only had 1 house up before snow fell.winter did seem to come early this year. the EB herbalist was added to our small plymouth village.it would find many herbs in the patch of trees that grew just over rim of the meadow valley.before christmas the 2nd house was finished.it would not be much of a holiday though,a worker fell off a ladder while helping the builders on the 3rd house. the undertaker would take time from his fishing to bury her.before new years, the 3rd house and stables were completed.by spring the 4th house was done. through it all our food reserves climbed over 11,000.a busy year would end with great accomplishments.

i try. i did mention you the other day,or was it yesterday, they run together too much. some of us was talking bout how to use pottery. i suggested they use it to preserve foods like canning or the indains did. i do like the fodder and use it a lot. i do need to reread your numbers to it though. it is a big difference since you upgraded it. it isn't bad,i just haven't got used to it yet. after this town i wanta upgrade the pine forest and try that with the fodder and thatch meadow. should be interesting test of the 3 mods together.

yeah not having huge groups of nomads has helped.i don't usually play valley maps, but i like this 1.the bowl shaped valley to the east, the high bluffes along the river with flat spots mixed in. i haven't looked everywhere yet. it isn't huge hills just thrown around the map.i do want to see how the grasses grow together.usually with valley maps, you have hills right where you want to build and  the start point gets dropped far from the river.

YEAR 11:
we wanted to get some rocks cleared in the treeline over the ridge.that would give the herbs more room to grow. we would do this in spring before the sun got too warm to avoid the snakes.after that, we can build a fence for the horses.
the cat the settler's brought had kittens. as soon as they were weaned, they were divided up to keep mice from our barns and markets. the 2 dogs kept watch of the children. 1 walked with them to school and the other always stayed with the fisherman to keep watch at the river.
since we had plenty of logs, the lumberyard would be fired up for the winter and our firewood limit was raised. we also wanted to clear more rocks as the snakes slept.
our farmers were doing super. even though snow hit our potato field,  they dug thru the snow and harvested over 600.the apples were at alomst 2000 and the wheat at 1400. our crop rotations had paid off.we gained and stored more food knowing our population was constantly growing.

YEAR 12:
now that are young females were matched up,all our houses had couples.the lumberyard had put out over 100 lumber and switched back to firewood. since the howl of wolves seemed to come closer toward our valley this spring,a lookout tower would keep watch in the meadow.built in the center along the main road,it could hunt the entire bowl.if anything came over the east ridge, there would be plenty of warning.i was surprised at how quickly it went up.
i did find our apples had dropped down.i had trouble finding them and i knew the orchards had produced good.the bannies had alomst 2000 in their homes.knowing we had cider still,i figured they were making applesauce for newborns.a vendor will have to shuffle the stock by fall.
the builder worked hard through the summer. i had sent him to punch a road through heavey brush and thorns to the future mining site to the south.in the winter,he would build a mini forester northeast of the herbalist on the west mouuntain rim of the meadow. the new trees would shade the herbs and help them grow.it will also collect enough logs and thatch to keep our houses warm.by now the indians had cleared most of the treesin their section.

YEAR 13:
the stable needed a barn for the fertilizer.i decided to have the builder construct a greenhouse as well.if we grow  strawberriesin the winter,it will give the bannies more fruit and then apples could be stocked up for cider.

10 new settler's have arrived.it has been 3 years since the 1st set.we had a meal with the merchant.
i gave him a note for the fort general. it will take time for it to be delivered,as the merchant was headed up river.he was glad to taste our cider and see how well we were progressing.he hoped we would have goods to trade soon.
the 3 couples and their 4 children moved in the boardinghouse.a forester and hunter family.a woodworking family, and a farming couple. the fort requested us to start building a furniture trade business. it was hoped we could supply future settlements with tables, benches, and dressers.
we quickly went to work. a house near the stable and greenhouse.a hunting cabin and maple forestrty tower. with 3 builders and 7 laborers hopefully, the 3rd house can be built before winter too.after consulting with the indains, the forester said i had picked a good location.the fog on the hills would keep the apple trees very healthy.being so thick already, the forest would supply many logs while the new maples and apples grew.
by fall, a saltbox house and joiner was planned and supplied with materials.the woodworking family was quite happy that we had already cut lumber.this ment they could have a larger house and shop sooner.my efforts to plan ahead and survey the land were appreciated.
when the builders finished the hunting cabin and started the 3rd house, the other workers went to their new workplaces.snow would come before the joiner was finished but at least everyone had homes and fires to stay warm.once it was finished, the woodworkers checked our lumber supply. since we still had 85,they both went to making furniture.
with all the construction completed,i had time to check the barns and markets. the workers had already stocked them with the harvests.even with more mouths to feed,we had not lost ground.the barns were well stocked.with everything going so well, workers went to clear rocks from the new forest.this gave them time to share their knowledge of the new land with the settlers.

YEAR 14:
as i walked around in the spring and checked on everyone,i made some notes. the woodworkers needed storage for the furniture.the indians were harvesting over 100 fodder, each year more than the last.the well would keep up for now but barely. a craft barn will be build in spring.the well will wait.there was still stones to haul out of the maple forest.as they cleared brush, they would stock the hunters with onions and roots.the builder worked to smooth out the path. everyone kept busy throughout the year.

YEAR 15:
with new settlers, these last 5 years seemed to fly by.with more workers to keep an eye on,i don't get as much time to explore farther out from out village. it has grown nicely.we started with just 14 of us and a couple crop fields.
we have accomplished much.an indian couple, and 2 sets of settlers have joined us.we have expanded to the west and north, adding a meadow and forest.we are making several trade goods. cider, furniture, and a 3 types of coats. 3 towers keep warch over us.1 over the river,1 in the meadow, and the forester in the north.a boardinghouse, school, undertaker, horse stables, lumberyard, and herbalist have been built.as well as our slink wharehouse markets.we are ready aid more settlers as they venture out from the fort to discover and build new towns.3 fields,2 orchards,3 hunters,a greenhouse, and trout fishing keep us fed with a varied diet.we have learned from the indians and work with the land, its hills, and even the river.mother nature has shined on us as our barns stay full and our cemetary has only 1 grave.

   POPULATION 63,28 adult,9 students,and 26 children. 14 houses+ BH.education 36%.
food just short of 10,000 1/3rd wheat,1/3rd potatoes,1400 deer,869 apples,over 900 trout.plus various wild foods,game,and strawberries.

Looks good so far, but be careful and prepare for more food production in time. Your level of education has dropped a lot and there are a lot of hungry children's mouth to feed. :)

The horses are very nice. The place is excellent! I guess that it's decorations.

yeah, i like making pastures with the stable barns. it makes sence to let the animals outside to eat grass in the summers.
someday when REDKETCHUP gets time and a break from all the coding, i hope he expands the fodder mod. i would like to have a cow barn that produces milk and fertilizer.we may have to feed it grain too.
the food i have not forgot. i try to keep 1 worker on food for every 5 bannies. it does go down some with nomads til houses can be built. i have a water problem i need to monitor and figure out.if i can get the water up,i can build another greenhouse.

YEAR 15:

after logging our progress for the fort commander, work on a trading post began.with everyone so busy, the builder enlisted help from the river tower.as they cleared land for it,many herbs and roots were gathered. the flooding river had dropped good fertile soil here.we will have to consider that with future projects.upon completion, the TP will be stocked with hide coats, cider, and furniture. we will add 750 potaoes. it was enough for a ship to carry down to the fort.
remembering all we had found while clearing for the TP,i sent everyone we could spare to collect along the river.since harvest was done, the farmers had the time.the indians laughed when the bannies claimed they had seen walking rocks.they swore they were alive and crawling on the river banks. the indians had to explain what turtles were.
checking with the herbalist, she reported the efforts of the mini forester.herbs, berries, and mushrooms had grown better. even the trapper was happy now that their were more squirrels.
the indians did file a complaint. they had seen no turkeys here in this valley. they even refused to celebrate thanksgiving with no turkeys.they said there was lands with grouse and turkeys with big tail feathers.the feathers were useful for indian trade items, they claimed.they could use feathers to make coats and warm beds for children.though the towers hunted pheasants, partridges, geese, and ducks,it wasn't the same as turkeys.for thanksgiving, they lit a fire, stomped their feet, and did a dance to the gods.

YEAR 16:

in spring, workers went to help the indians clear heavy rocks.they killed many rattlesnakes in doing so.the main snake pit was finally destroyed and filled in with dirt.
a huge water tower was planned.it would give enough water for our greenhouse and crops.i had the builder dig it deep so even on a dry year we would not run out.it was placed by the village markets so the water could be sent to whoever needed it.while the builder worked, the laborers  went to cut more trees to replace the logs.the extra firewood needs and furniture had used up more than the foresters were cutting.
as i climbed up to see how far i could see from the new tower,i spotted settlers approaching the village.though i did not get to enjoy the view long,i was able to sppot a lake to the south.the west across the river seemed mountainous.the east looked to be grassy and open.it had hills and a few mountain peaks.

the merchant had brought 14 more settlers to us.more than our boardinghouse could hold. 8 adults,
2 teenagers, and 4 children. while they were moving into the BH,i spoke with the merchant.the fort had sent chickpea seeds and notes on the 3 families.they knew little about the other couple however.1 family was known for honey and candles.they had good experience with bees.another family, was to help extend out log production and forest operations.the 3rd famliy had come from swamplands. they had always lived near or on water.the way the fort commander explained it,this family had been quite helpful. even though they had never seen the ocean before, they took to it and it's waves quite well.they had taught the fort bannies to dig down in the sand to find food.they made ditches on the beach to trap crabs, fish, and seaweed when the tides came in at night.within a month, the family had built boats and hunted whales.the fort now was heating and lighting its buildings with whale oil.the fort translator had passed away so they could not understand the 4th couple.it was left to me to figure them out.the letter was several pages long and made for much conversations around the village.
we loaded the furniture and hide coats on the boat to be sent.the BH was stocked with food and firewood.it was only early summer, but we would have a busy year.
since the family of beekeepers was homeless,a thatch wood house was needed in the maeadow.then a house could be added near the river south of the village.
the LOCKIES,that is what they called them selves, chose a dockhouse design and location.then they swam off.they were called Lockies after a monster that lived in a swamp.according to them, few had ever seen the monster because of the way it moved through both the water and the swamp mud.it was an honour to them to be named after such a creature.
since the Lockies had disappeared, the 4th couple moved into the house.the bannies tried to stop them but had no luck.it will take time to figure their language out.another dockhouse was built.the Lockies showed up just in time to move in.they had been up and down the river and to a lake. they had found gold and silver in the lake.they claimed the lake had called them to it.
there was still 1 family and 2 teenage girls left in the barracks.winter would come soon. more houses would wait until spring.
before spring,a field would be cleared for the chickpeas.trees were to be cut near the  dockhouses.other work had to be done as well. during the winter i would try to figure out the 4th family and where they were from.this has been a very hectic year.

YEAR 17:

over the winter months with trial and error, hand gestures, and drawing in the dirt,i managed to figure out somethings about the 4th family. they were a couple from overseas and way north. it sounded like they said russia.1 day they picked up a potato and tried to drink it? or was it a gesture? i figured out they were explaining they made a drink from potatoes called vodka.they had lost the recipealong their journey.they tried to draw pictures of what looked to be a moonshine still.they said they drank vodka with crayfish. i thought this strange cause the crayfish here were quite small.back home they let grass grow on their roofs.claimed it kept the houses warmer.hmm, maybe we can learn something from these folks if i can learn their talk.
as spring came and i went around checking on everyone,i was stunned.the Lockies had been busy.they had dug mud and planted reeds along the riverbank.they also had a rice paddy started and a duckblind.they had crossed the river last fall to get the reeds. the rice they had carried across the ocean. this is why they had wanted to come here.the rice would not grow well in salt water so they had not planted them at the fort.as the fort commander had told me,these swamp  people were resourceful.
once the snow melted off,the builder and crew went to building houses.we would need several this year.another crew set out to build the apiary in the meadow.they would build storage for the Lockies and whereever more was needed.
the builders in the forest had plenty to do. 2 cabins,a gathering hut,and a pine forest tower.as soon as they built the 1st cabin,a young couple moved in. another lad paired up with the other gal in the boardinghouse as quickly.snow would fall before the 2nd cabin was finished.the laborers had worked hard to keep the 2 builder crews supplied.their feet were tired and sore from carrying materials all around.they would need rest before more projects could be done.2 builders remained finishing the pine tower.
a food merchant stopped by on his way south.he traded us some grapefruits and would carry some furniture down to the fort.i gave him my notes for the fort commander with a bag of rice from the Lockies.jillicent said there was a new indian village to the north. as it was growing fast, more merchants would be headed this way.
while the workers rested,i took time to check our supplies.our food had took a hit. it was expected with all the new houses needing to be stocked.there was still some harvesting to be done, but we were down to 6200.we had 15 bannies working to produce food.at the rate our population is growing we will need 3 or 4 more by spring.more trees will have to be dropped this winter to get our log count back up.we still needed more houses. 1 young new couple still lived in the barracks.students were starting to graduate as well.even with the watertower, water was being used as fast as it could be brought up.we had thought the larger tower would have done better than the small well.we did have fodder and fertilizer stocked up.as planned, there were laborers scattered out in each area.they had moved supplies around and kept the outer barns stocked.
during the winter, another orchard and crop field will be cleared.we will locate a spot for a duck blind and add a 2nd trout fisherman as well.

YEAR 18:

the lockies found us a good spot for the duck blind and fishing.north of the TP was a slight rise of along th river.the river curved back abd forth,so there was good pools for trout.across the river was a flat spot the ducks were known to gather at.A tall wooden house would add more flood protection.by summer our boardinghouse was empty and cleaned.
a seed market stopped at the landing.he had 1 bag of pea seeds left on his boat.we passed on the trade, hoping for a better deal. we told him to stop next year though.he also would put the word out that we were looking for some cattle.
mid-summer,more houses were needed now that females were turning 16.2 plymouth houses would add to our main village. trees were being clear to the south to supply the logs. we would still need more houses as more have graduated.our town was growing fast.
during the winter a dock workshop would be built. we could soon craft survival coats for trade.the lockies were already stockpiling feathers and reeds.by the time snow fell, our food reserve was back over 8200 and apples were still being picked.our biggest problem was water.the horses and greenhouse constantly fought over it.the tower produced almost the same as the small well.
the lockies being resourceful, had taught the north duck hunter to catch fish while he watched for ducks.he had caught 5 already.they had taken to the russians and had trained them to tend to the reeds and rice.it was unusual, since the lockies liked the water and swamps and the russians liked wild boars and snow.they had developed their own language as well.

:D ;D I had to laugh about the Russians and the potatoes. You are certainly using the "Myths" of different people. But since they also like the small crayfish, are you really sure they are Russian? ;)

YEAR 19

a pine cabin is planned along the forest road.this will keep laborers spread out.this will leave us with 1 16 year old female living with their parents.as the males are still in school, that isn't a big concern.

guess i should give an accessment of the buildings and some productions.
the EB herbalist- mini forest establisheded to help grow the herbs.herbs did grow better but are not being harvested. production remains under 10.

furniture joiner shop-2 workers,1 educated.uses the logs sent to it quickly production over 70.

the fodder itself is about 200 or better.the problem area with the chain is the wells.i like to get the fodder started a few years before the stable. this allows him to clear rocks and trees.once the fodder is built up, i build the stables and well. by delaying the greenhouse a couple years, the well has time to get ahead.at least it should be able to.i built the watertower to have water for the GH and future projects.with both wells producing about 30 water,we are actually waiting for it.the GH struggles to prduce at 300. stocks= 600+ fodder, about 100 fertilizer. i am wondering if a mod is holding the water production down.i did not load the EB well. however other EB mods are above RK mods.could the tannery have enough of the well code to affect or override the RK wells? the NMT mod which contains the watertower is below CC. the fod utility mod is above CC.

mini forest almost 100 logs, maple forester 185,pine 75.though they will improve,we will need more logs.

tailors-we keep no surplus of textiles.the furrier switches between furs and pelts. KIDS workplace makes hidecoats. and i just started survival coats. clothing is 134 and stocks at the TP.we keep and use fur coats.i can't give you actual numbers. KID's small workplace tailor has kept up on leather. nicely.
trapper has half his radius in the mini forest, half in fodder meadow.his numbers varry from year to year and items.RED's watch tower hunters get about 12 textiles per year, leather and fur.

crops- rice 1000,fields most are 700,3100 on 5 fields,apples over 2000 on 3 orchards.

mini blacksmith about 80 tools. his problem is logs.
lumberyard does seem low on firewood. should use the mini chopper for a year to compare the 2.

as more students graduate, our numbers should improve.we have 38% educted so far.

reluctantly,a small windmill is being built in the meadow.there is a good breeze through the valley all year,so it will be a good spot.hopefully it will do better than our well.since it is a small project,1 worker is sent to the woodchopper.we also want to extend the main road to the east.
a merchant stops in late spring. we don't need the barley seed but will swap for the 500 rockmelons.
with heavy rains along his route,he has not seen the bison herd and indians this year.he did suggest some stone benches and a shade tree near the TP would be nice.he lit a fire and dried off at the boardinghouse for the night.
by fall the road was extended to the east edge of the meadow.more trees were being cut.the mini chopper was doing better than the lumberyard even with nobody supplying his logs.the new well seemed to produce no better than the other 2.we will need a well for every greenhouse or tanery we build.
the seed merchant stopped with squash seeds.he was hungry for seafood and headed to the fort.he would take a load of furniture and coats for us. i gave himm some notes for the fort commander ammd a request for livestock and chickens.i told him how i had spotted a canyon to the west. it would give good protection from wild animals with its steep sides.the lockies quickly caught some turtles to send.the school children had a box of pressed leaves to send as well.

pic 1:overview of the crops and orchards. inventory
pic 2: south view of the meadow.note how encircled it is.you can just see the base of the hil behind the herbalist to the northwest .the north is surrounded like the south.

pic 3: food graph. shows the mountains north of the meadow.

I guess I have somehow inspired you to look at the numbers @brads3.  :D

It's weird about the water. I have the same water tower as you have, it produces around 500. I don't think, that the well from @embx61 makes any trouble. As I tested it, it produced allright. I didn't run it together with CC, but with the wells from Red and DS. Have you tried Red's water well? The one that looks very much like a vanilla "fire well". It has always produced good, as I've tested it.

Most of my production is higher than yours, but that should be so, with 100% educated, so you are right; your production will increase as more students graduates (of cause, unless you take more nomads, than graduates)

the only reason i wonder about the EB mods affecting it is those mods are the topmost mods and i really have no explanation. with the herbalist being so low makes me wonder bout a work code of some sort.i too thought the tower produced better but the NMT is below CC.it will take more testing.
i find with slowing down to make it into a story i play different. i pay attentionto the bannies individually more.i don't just keep expanding. for example,i wouldn't be making so many types of clothing.
i know roads and education and other things do hinder production. i have not seen it bother games as badly as the last 2. if that is the problem.even on a bad year or without the educated worker,my fields are at 600+. the tower hunters do seem to be lower than a regular deer hunter.these last 2 games are really the 1st long plays i have done with the 1.07 too. i tested off and on but had only played short games.now that i have upgraded most mods it will take some adjusting.the only real glitch i know of has been the duck blind that gives fish.

the tower hunters is very very very random (on purpose ^^) if you get alot of birds at 20 meat ... at the end thats alot of difference with alot big animals at 200 meat each
;D

The production of the herbalists are also very different. It doesn't need to be a bug. I just looked; I have one vanilla and the mini herbalist. The vanilla had 78 and the mini 15 herbs last year. I have seen big variations, especially by herbalists in huts with a small radius or if you use 2 herbalists in the vanilla version. It looks like the forest gets over used. This was very obvious in Necora´s forests. I used a trick; I had one herbalist in each forest but only used one at the time and let them change workplace every couple of years. That way, I always had a lot of herbs.

herbalist is very dependant of its circle , bigger the circle, more herbs you will get. of course depends of trees density  too :)

hi,RED. but the towers don't hunt turkeys or elk.... i like the tower giving a variety and changing from year to year. i think the production of the towers swings more between educated and uneducated workers than he hunter huts. the herbalist, has ahuge radius. and i built a mini forester near it to help it.the center of the circle is the village but that still leaves a huge area.it is the 1st time i really used it but it fits nice with the plymouth and plantation houses. i sent workers into the mini forest and select cut a few plants and most of them were herbs. that is why i think it to has something in the coding making it be so low.on the next map i will change mod orders and have more info to compare with.

YEAR 20:

POPULATION:95,47 adult,12 students,36 children. 40% educted.23 houses+BH.
food almost 7100.
has it been this long already? our food drops down as we get new settlers and then we work to build it up for the next set.we have more than tripled our population.we now produce 6 crops.chickpeas, potatoes, wheat, squash, strawberries, and apples.we have added duck hunters and a gathering hut and a apiary.
we produce 4 types of clothing, furniture and cider.we stock reeds and beeswax.
the fort has sent us 3 groups of settlers.teacher, undertaker, herbalist, stablehands, beekeepers, foresters, woodworkers, the lockies and russians.
with forests in the north and the lockies to the south we have expanded.with our stone bridge and the mining area cleared,we are ready for requests from the fort.

in spring, the workers set out to clear brush along the river northward to the duck blind. the builder worked to smooth a road on the ridge over the river.this will give us a straight road between the markets and the duck blind. beside the blind a stone bridge will be built to cross the river to a canyon.the duck hunter and his wife said they would light torches on both ends of the bridge so merchants will see it in the darkness.hauling rocks so far and smoothing the ground along the stony ridge took time.
fall came and the builder still had just a short ways left to go.
the lockies swam over and came back with a report. there was a river to the east of the canyon so we will need several watchtowers.they say there is lots of game and pheasants. they believe beavers live near the stream and we should consider a trapper if we plan any chickens.there is foxes and skunks that will eat the eggs.
as i checked stocks,i was suprised to see the Gh and stables still struggling.all 3 wells had workers all year long. i had hoped the extra well would get us some water in storage.it had not worked out that way.theGh had only produced 200 strawberries by mid autumn.the rest of the crops had done well. we had over 8300 food and feilds were still being harvested.the north duck hunter caught 7 fish even with the bridge construction goin on.the lockies shook their heads at him.he was catching fish and ducks but never kept the feathers.this is very strange since the lockies always have duck and feathers.for what it is worth, he says he is better educated since they taugh  him.
since we have a 18 year old female,we do need to build a house this winter.sihe wanted a house like her older sister, elbertina. a wooden river house would go next to the TP.
though the fort might not believe me,i still say stuff grows better here away from the salt air.thatch and trees seem to grow back quicker in areas that were cleared before.we have planned our crops and forests with the grass and thatch.
the seed merchant stopped. he was heading way south with bamboo seeds.he had not seen the livestock merchant but had put word out for us.

I can only say; my little duck hunter works very well; very skilled. Kills a lot of ducks (1000-1600 meat each year). What messes things up in your game, I can't understand.

I think your life would be easier if you planned a bit more ahead for your new settlers; not only letting the stores go down when they arrive and slowly increase until the next batch. You have no crisis in this town but a few bad harvests in a row and a baby boom, just after the nomad arrival, would give you some. Always better to plan ahead. I think 1 of 5 to produce food isn't enough to be safe for a population growing this fast. But maybe you like the excitement! :)

gm,NILLA. are you comapring the duck blind hunters????if so then that does say a lot.i do think the game os off.  i feel like i used to expand and grow towns faster than now. if my CC mods are producing that much less then i have big problems. i do have concerns.that would explain the last few game plays.i am glad to hear your CC is producing more. at least i know CC isn't causing it. you make me think now.
yea.i agree with you. i should have more food up.the thing is again there are workers out there but the production numbers seem low. the farmers are good now. 3 foresters and constant clearing trees just to keep firewood.2 furniture workers aren't producing enough furniture.it feels like the 2 are doing less than i did with 1 before. by expanding i would have more land and more food areas.some of my play is changed with the story and blog. if i step back and look and compare this to towns i have done 6months ago or so,the area i am using seems way less. i have the workers busy.i don't have extras. enough to do some of what i would like. my coats aren't enough to keep stock at the TP building up.
if you are scared of the food reserves, you aint seen nothing yet.it gets crazier. i am holding it though.i agress i should be up over 25,000 by now. i have tried to plan ahead. i did clear areas, started roads, built different buildings. i did it when the bannies had time to spare.if the wells were doing right,i would have more GH's and that would be a boost.there is 5 workers and they combined aren't producing 500 food.there is others that seem to break even and not give extra.

NILLA, since you are playing CC,i want to compare some production numbers.
10x10 crop fields 500-700
most of these are uneducated
beekeeper 150 honey +200 beeswax
quick trout fisherman 325
vanilla gatherer 1000
EB herbalist <10
wells<any> 30-40
rice paddy 1000
foresters  100-150 logs    mini,pine mod
duck blind  <100+feathers    note issue all but 1 have produced fish off and on.
REDK hunters  hunter hut 800+ leather
lookout tower hunters   >450 + furs+leather

furniture joiner with 2 workers  around 40 if i keep it fed with logs

those are rough averages.i don't remeber issues like this with LOWESVILLE.  it seems it started after i upgraded more mods and reorganized my mod list and order. the duck blind comparison has me concerns because that is included in the CC. that would mean whatever issue i have it may be affecting all the mods and workers. it is definetly making the game more challenging. thank you for the feedback. i appreciated it much.

YEAR 21:

since it has been 20 years+,it is a good time to check some census age numbers. we have 1 at 60 the retired undertaker,1 at 57 the herbalist house though she switched jobs to the GH,a 53 year old russian, and 1 50 year old farmer.many around there mid-40's.someone got an attitude and threw away our gravestone,so the cemetary is empty.the only death we had was a child birth death of a original bannie teenager.

1 thing i should say. the Nat DIV mod has totally changed the maps.for 1,we don't have to stop every few years and deorate and triple lay roads. before trees would overgrow the roads and villages and you had to either reclear it or decorate with the grass road mod. in the case of this map i have done little of either. i did some decorations. some trees and lilac bushes.few benches.town well.stuff that makes sence.
i didn't do yards. i didn't give houses shade trees.under the circumstances who would sit home under a tree?.or plant flowers?
the other thing with the NAT DIV mod is now you can actually see.other than the forests you can move around the map and see the way the land  is. you can spot the small streams. you can see there is piles of iron ore or rocks.you can tell where small hills are as well.some of the knolls and rolls of the hills in this map,you could not see before.the trees would hide it.
these points is added to what the mod does to the plants and herbs. i don't have the zoom hack or i could get better pics.i do think it changed more than the plants though. it may not have totally changed the soil. but there are differences. i have not found reeds.luckily the dock set can grow its own.which gave me the duck blinds.i do think if you plant where the thatch is at the game start, you get different results than if there is plain ground or forests.kinda like you plant a garden and weeds grow up.if you don't pull weeds, your garden doesn't do very well.
i'll give you a look at it. i snapped 2 pics of areas far from center. they are totaly untouched with 20 years of growth on them.on another map if you clicked out that far from where you are building, you will not be able to see.

it is spring.since the beeswax is almost to 500,the builder can build a chandlery.we'll have light and candles for trade.once the supplies are there ,the laborers can clear south of the future minig area.that will open space toward the lake and give us more logs too.it'll mainy keep them busy.
the candle shop is finished in early summer.the road is getting muddy from the trading post. so the builder is to lay stone down. the stone road can go from the TP to the slink markets and extend to the main village road.if it goes quick,he can extend it past the boarding house.
by winter with our houses stocked and all the harvest done,we had over 9200 food in storage.our vendors had already checked the markets and moved supply out of the main barn.
a large colonial houise has been requested near the canlde shop.and there is still clearing being done to the south.
the odd duck hunter was now keeping feathers.the lockies blamed the whole fish situation on the russians. they claimed, the russians threw northern pike in the river.they gave no other explanation nor did the russians.i wasn't sure if they was joking or arguing most times,so i left them to it.
for christmas, the fort send the livestock merchant with 5 sheep.he would haul the furniture and coats back down river.the fort had gave him a barrel of gunpowder and he had used it on the beaver dam.the river would be easier to travel now so more merchants should be coming.no beavers were  harmed in this operation since they were sleeping in their lodge.
a holding pasture will be built along the bridge road.8x16,it will fit between the road and the edge of the maple forest. it has warmed up early and our snow has melted.hopefully we can get the sheep to high ground before a flood comes.

I like reading your blogs...... "some got an attitude"....... :D ;D I love that expression! I also laugh at your troublesome Russians. Sounds like my son; throwing pike into the river. He throws them back into the lake, because he doesn't like to "clean" these slimy fish. (Unless they are very large) I do like pike and we always have arguments about it. ;) The explanation is simple; your Russians don't like slimy fish, like my son, they prefere salmon, trout and perch. ;)

I'll give you some fresh numbers from some production buildings. I don't have all of those you mentioned, since I had only CC and the minimod until lately, so I have no other production buildings. The production numbers are only from last year, the average might be different:

Crop fields: My fields are a lot larger than yours, but they produced 6,6-7 on each tile. 7 is the maximum number for educated, 5 for uneducated, if I remember it right. Some years the weather is not perfect and the harvest is smaller. The dense orchards had 8,5-7,8. the only normal orchard 5,33. (your 700 for educated and 500 for uneducated are as good as it can get for a 10*10 field, unless there are some "cheat" mods, that makes it bigger)
Beekeeper: 832 honey + 162 beeswax. I use 2 beekeeper in the building. It's very odd, that you have more wax but so much less honey.
Vanilla gatherer: 3 gatherer made about 2500 food together
Herbalists: Unfortunately the herb limit was reached and they only made 9/15 herbs, but I told you some other numbers from an earlier year yesterdays.
Wells: I have one City Water Tank: 576, one Water Tower: 445 and one Windmill pump: 256, all CC buildings.
Rice Paddy: 1360 This building is definitely changed, I can remember, I had 4000 or more in an earlier version. It's still a lot for such a small simple building but not ridiculous anymore.
Foresters: The miniforester makes the most for one forester; 110. In the others I had 2 or 3 and they made between 100 and 65 log each. (132-296 for each forest)
Duck blind: 1200 duck meat, 20 feathers, 7 fish(?) (maybe the hunter like to fish in his free time ;)
Joiner 82 furniture for 2 worker, presently normal furniture. If I have hartwood, I prefere fancy furniture (about the same production, higher profit) But 1 hardwood forest isn't enough to feed one joiner building all the time, so I have to change it from time to time.
The other production buildings I don't have (yet?)

Just a hint to make your trade a little bit more profitable; close the candle maker and sell the wax instead! If He's uneducated he destroys value, if He's educated the profit is very small. Send him fishing instead and sell fish, if you need to buy anything.

ty NILLA. it is strange. it isn't all my numbers but is hit and miss.the vanilla buildings seem ok.my mini mod is high in my order too.i did notice that fisherman is doing good.the wells is costing me lots. i can't build more GH's or anything. after this map i will adjust my order more.the hunting blind is weird. i debugged the original 1,since the NAT DIV mod stops  the reeds from growing everywhere. i can grow them from  the docks though.the other blinds i did build after the dock produced reeds. those are the 1's giving fish. it is challenging and i do watch the food.i will have to up my fields soon.

YEAR 22:

the sound of indian drum beats tells the villagers it is spring. i checked the well workers. they are all uneducated. with 3 wells pumping the GH has produced 420.the EB herbalist is educated however.he can grow herbs in about 30% of his radius.the 2 watch towers are over 600 and they are not educated.
the builder is busy building the larger colonial house. laborers contivue to haul materials for the  holding pasture.the sheep will have room for now, until a better pasture is located. this pasture will be a temporary pen for more livestock as it arrives.
as i took a quick walk out to the indians,i realize they will need another cabin this year for their daughter.she is finishing school and has plans of making scented oils from the wildflowers.this will be put on hold.

as the builders are finishing the pasture, a large indian tribe arrives from the east. they were following a bison herd when it was attacked by wolves.since it was night and raining, they lost site of the herd. they were just happy the wolves didn't chase them.i guess i should have built another boardinghouse.
20 newcomers is a bit much.
half of them decide to go south to the lake. they say they can fish and hunt ducks and collect freshwater clams.the other half will go west of the canyon and pitch tents to hunt and gather near the smaller stream. i have concerns knowing this will take time and we will need to help haul materials and feed all of them. to help accomplish this the indians sent 1 to trout fish and 2 to quick hunt.
as snow began to fall early, i tried to get the indains to move together into the 4  F.O. houses.they did not like the idea. 2 indians  remained homeless.more construction continued.

by mid winter, the lake village was almost completed. it had 4 F.O. huts, mini fishing dock,woodchopper,2 duck blinds,a lookout tower, and a barn.the water scavenger was all that was left to finish.stage 1 had gone well.with all the extra houses stocked we had over 8300 food in storage.

YEAR 23:
spring ment the work on the canyon towers could begin.it is a long ways so it will be slow.3 towers,a gathering hut,and a stone bridge over the stream is planned.the indians will throw up a tent by each tower and the builders will build a storage barn. an area for a storage pile has to be cleared 1st,then the barn built.10 laborers for 6 builders.
work went slowly. it was a long ways away.the barn went up the towers by winter.more clearing and the bridges were started.a plank bridge had to be built to get across the stream to clear brush before the stone bridge.

our food was over 10,000. the indians were producing enough food to support the lake village.

to outdo the 2nd duck blind, the 2 indian blinds collected the duck feathers and ducks and caught FISH.
the lockies have never caught fish from their duckblind.they shrug and say little. they do bring in more feathers than the others.and have had a couple years of over 100 ducks.
with an educated worker, the water tower produced no more water.it must be a mod order problem.

YEAR 24:

now that it is warming up,the indians pitch tents. there is still the gathering hut to be built. workers are tired but they continue.the lockies reminded everyone that more housing is needed soon as we can.
by fall all that remains to be built is a small FO. barn near the gathering hut.they don't mind living in such small tents. with their woodcutter, they will stay warm.they will hunt, fish, and gather and keep coyotes and other wild animals out of the canyon.to help supply logs a FO. forester with a log cabin  will be built across the stream.
hopefully by spring, the boardinghouse will be emptied and cleaned.i can get time to check supplies and figure the settler's housing needs.there is much that needs to be done. the sheep pasture,a wool tailor, etc.

There's a serious lack of roads and fences in your town. Your people spend a lot of time walking slowly on grass.

yea,we haven't had the time for much roads.we did get a stone road from the TP to the BH due to the mud.fences??  our hnters keep the rabbits in  check so they haven't bothered our crops. we did have to send a hunter now and then to chase the deer out though.

YEAR 25 REVIEW

that was a very busy 5 years. they went by super fast.1 person remains at the boarding house to remind me we will need more houses soon. with each house we build,we will need to bring up the production and food.there is much to do.

POPULATION 140, 70 adults,22 students,48 children. 40% educated.33 houses+BH.
food 7500+,
considering how hectic the last 5 years have been, our food has notlost ground.we have gained sheep and now stock wool.we are behind 3-4 houses.the number of food workers actually shows 2 to the good.
at the rate of population growth,we need to add 1 food worker per year going forward.

fort request/goal: establish a strong lumber town, produce clothing and furniture for future settlements.

strong points: we are well protected having the indians on either side of us.we have diversified our textiles.by working with the land and some crop rotation, our apples and crops produce well.

issues/problems: wells don't produce enough water.our duck blinds are weak.

can i go hide in the woods? i know as soon as i try to walk around the village, everyone will want something.i should start a list of demands or requests.where do i start??  how about east to west?

    AREA                        NEEDS

indian canyon village- 1 house, trapper, more clearing, road east to the stone bridge.
canyon-                pastures, markets and road to move items from indians to stone bridge
trading post landing-  nothing
north forests-         1 house, maple and pine gatherer, pine storage between pine and maple forests.
lockies river landing-   1 house, rice paddy, wish list ricestill
indian lake- nothing
meadow-          1 house and perfume buildings completed, more water
main village-1 house, wool tailor, cellar to tavern for cider,

overall need another school,2nd blacksmith, logs, iron production,

TOTALS:5 houses,2 fields,

YEAR 25

i dislike the order of this.knowing how the bannies will move out,a house in the canyon is 1st.
then work in the canyon.house, sheep pasture, and fields.before meadow indian maiden graduates continue work there.then the rice and forest gatherers.not saying it will all be done in 1 year. i do have a plan though.

SPRING YEAR 25:
step 1 is shut down the stables to conserve water. fertilizer is over 280.builder count back to 6.that should split them up.cabin added to canyon village and prioritzed.unpaused meadow FO.cabin.start clearing pasture and send 2 vendors to pull materials,1 to the log depot 1 to the industrial market.add colonial house and a leanto storage by 15x15 fenceless pasture.
the indian cabin is done quick at the west village.. the meadow indians decide not to move into the new house.now the sister is 16 so they will need 2 houses.they will have to wait.the pasture is cleared and materials are being delivered.a school between the stone bridge and forests is half completed.
during the fall the maple gatherer and school are finished. work goes slow in the far canyon.location for a pine cabin is chosen along the forest road.
the indians have produced enough food to feed themselves. food reserves are at 7750 at the end of winter.

YEAR 26:
the meadow indian maiden wanting to be close to the canyon indians took over the colonial house.
work continues to clear fields very slowly.a pine material shed is built for the pine and maple forests.
by summer, the pasture is ready and sheep can be moved.the pine cabin has a family.thework is scheduled for the docks, rice paddy, and dock house.as summer ends, the pine forager and rice paddy are ready.
a farmhouse and a crop field are planned near the herbalist.a KID beehive will help the apiary.
by fall, the bannies have done well.all that is left to finish is the beehive. it has taken 2 years but much has been done.5 houses,2 fields, sheep pasture, maple and pine gatherers, rice paddy, school, and more storage.
food reserves at 8000+    stocking up on sap, wool, and pine bough.ohh and we have pearls.
we still need a medieval tailor and a pine blackksmith.

YEAR 27:

WE struggled thru the winter to keep firewood. our log count is very log.the dock work shop switches  to fire bundles to use up the excess reeds.the workers are sent to collect thatch and cut trees in the meadow.the builder continues to work trying to get a road to the lake village.the wool coats will help keep everyone warmer by next winter.with the pine smith finished, bough tools will be made as well.
by summer, the pine trapper work starts and land is cleared for a small market. this will allow items and logs to be moved out of the canyon.
a merchant stops in  the fall.we trade our survival coats for firebundles and take on some furnace fuel to help process iron later.
as winter grows to a close, the small market is stocked.our food reserve is at 9200+.

YEAR 28:

during the winter.the undertakers wife died of old age. he is now 67 and alone.

as work continues and we are able to try and catch our breathe,a huge group of settlers shows up in early summer. there is 30 of them.there is a note from the fort commander.with all the tools and clothing produced here, more settlers can now stop here as they travel out and explore new lands.i need to give the new governor a tour and my records, charts, and plans.after he is introduced to everyone and settled in, i am to take the group of 30 head north and form a farm settlement to feed our growing nation. i have done well here and this town is stable and will continue to grow on its own.with my knowledge of the indians and the land,i shall lead the next expedition.

POPULATION 153, 77 adult,26 studenta, and 50 children.  47% educated. 39houses+bh.
food:9000+  7 fields,3 orchards,2 rice paddys,1 greenhouse,sheep pasture,4 fishermen,4 duck blinds,
7 hunters,3 gatherersplus 2 trappers.
wool,hide,survival,and pelts coats.

though we could handle the 30 settlers here,it is a good sized group to head out and begin the next settlement with.

When I created the Water Well players "complained" that the output was too much so I adjusted the output.

I went over the files now the irrigation channels are almost finished and adjusted the work required and Worktime.
I also changed the NMWater from 6/8 to 8/10.

I will update the Unified Mod and Production Set 1 some later tonight or tomorrow.

When I release the Irrigation channels the output will be the same for all of my mods.

Updated both the Unified Mod and the Production Set 1 Mod so water output is increased a bit.

i think my issue was due to several mod conflicts. i had some low crop productions, low output on duck blinds,no wells produced over bout 40,etc.i did narrow it down though.took me a few days and several attempts.the ducks actually took moving a NECORA mod below CC. and it was a storage mod so should have had nothing to do with ducks.
i did remember that you had dropped yopur well down.i had wondered if it was holding RK's NMT watertower down too. that didn't solve enough issyues though. i do know NECORA has updated many mods so the storage may be a older version.i actually didn't have your well either but i do have the tannery.there are several mods that have a "worker" profession. don't take it that it was your mod.
EMB,did you see my wishlist for a well with a pump that can channel water to a town a little ways from a river?

                                                               BEVERSET REVIEW

only mod change listed is moving the ketchup mod below CC to fix a blank tag of the tomatoes.the goal was to build the 1st settlement and expand inland away from the waterworld map.it would also help support the fort by sending logs and food.this is the 1st time we met the indians.

this is a really nice map.the ground climbs up from the river giveing a reason for the stilt houses to be used.it flattened out for the markets and a village. to the east was a large valley surrounded almost completely by mountains which gave a good fit for the meadows.a wide canyon to the south opened to a lake.much of the rough hill terrain  runs along the river. its a good mix and gives plenty of open flat areas to build.

we started with 14 settlers, apples, wheat, and potatoes.by year 3,we had built markets to stockpile goods to ship downstream to the fort.a vendor would stock these and jump back and forth to keep logs for the firewood cutter.here the bannies learned to burn thatch. they prefer firewood, why some use more thatch than others is a mystery.we also noted the fodder takes over land more than the thatch. thatch allows for herbs and roots to grow within the meadows but fodder pushes them out.a blending of these 2 might be nice.
met our 1st pair of indians in year 4.they joined us and taught us many things.combined with the many animals of the tower hunter and trapper, this did make for a good story.the indians with the help of a canadian,NECORA,would soon teach the bannies not to destoy bird nests.this map does not have the updated pine mod with the new gathering training.
the indians broght a change to our textiles adding furs and pelts.

year 9,construction on the lumberyard began.10 new settlers come from the fort in year 10.these built up the fodder mod and became our teacher and medics.they were followed by 10 more in year 13.they worked the forest and began working on making furniture.year 15,the trading post was established and began to send coats, furniture.and other goods to the fort.14 more nomads yr 16 including the LOCKIES.they helped expand our operations and added honey, ducks, and rice to our diets.30 indian nomads yr 22.this set built the FO. village to fish and hunt near the south lake.half of them began expanding west across the river.

at year 25 on,this map takes off and alot of building and expanding is done.as it spreads out to bring in more logs. food drops somewhat but not overly troublesome.it does slow construction progress.

in year 28 a large group of 30 nomad settlers stops by. at this point it is decided that they will travel onward to settle more land elsewhere.

end popultaion 153,39 houses plus boardinghouse.47% education.food at 9000+ from 10 crops,2 rice paddys, and a greenhouse.there is hunting, gathering, and fishing throughout the lakes and forests. 4 different coats, furniture, and candles are being shipped.perfumes is planned but held up due to other needs and water troubles.with the nomads coming is smaller groups, the population grew more steadily and the education level stayed higher.it did grow and build muuch smoother than the LANDING FORT.there was 5 sets of nomads plus the ending group of 30.

this town ends with several forests of different types.not only has it expcanded the textiles but also types of tools.the livestock canyon is protected by hunters to the west.more pastures and crops can be added there.this town can continue to supply the fort and produces goods for settlers passing through as well.there is lots of room to grow this town.

production issues or outputs:EB herbalist is low collecting about 10 per year.wells including the NMT tower are way low about 30 each.crops and orchards about 700 per field.rice paddy is 1000.furniture is putting out 70 with 2 workers.beekeeper 150 honey,200 beeswax.trout fisherman 325.foresters 150 logs, gatherer 1000.duckblinds 100 meat, feathers or fish hit and miss.RK hunter cabin 800+,tower hunters 450+.this at 38% education level.

i don't remember any major issues with the storage or markets. the vendors did jump back and forth to move goods in and out of the trading post markets.each area has a market except the south lake.

3 issues with this town. the EB herbalist didn't want to find enough herbs even with a mini forester added close by. water shortages from the different wells.duck hunters catching fish, producing less duck, and not producing feathers.
due to the closeness of the river,an engineer,EB,designed new ways to move the water instead of digging wells.irrigation canals or ditches will make for some interesting maps.
