Title: Always Crashing/ CC Beta Fix- Please Help!

Whenever my game starts to really get going, the crashing starts. I noticed that it usually happens when I'm trading- which makes me wonder about the CC Beta Fix file I have. Do I need this file? I use a lot of DS and Kid's mods, and I'm not sure if they have this fix built in or not. If I do need it, where should I load it exactly? Near the bottom, top or middle? I've been loading it near the top, but not sure if that's where it actually goes.

I've done everything I can to fix the crashing issue. Arranged my load order in the way I was told to do so, made sure my antivirus doesn't interfere with my game, turned off V-synch, and also got rid of some older mods. Any suggestions anyone has would be appreciated. I know I can take out all my mods, but I would prefer not to, as I don't really like the way most of the vanilla buildings look.

REDs TP fix is not needed if you use the RK CHOICE mods. i would send this to the top of the mod order before any mods that have a TP in them. you will need to start a new game. none of the fix mods will work without a fresh game start.

    if this doesn't solve the crash,then it becomes trouble shooting the mod order.based on your info,this should solve it.

So I followed your list about mods, put the mod you suggested on top, and I'm still getting crashing. Why why why?! Can someone help me with my load order? I'm about to go insane because it seems that no matter what I do, I always get crashing.

As you can see I organized everything according to the advice of yourself, and Discrepancy. I'm willing to bet that within the groups I got something wrong, but I left most of the green mods at the bottom since they don't conflict. Any suggestions you or anyone else have are very welcome!

this is a list will be fun going to be trial and error to narrow it down. did you try changing to a different start setting? some mods do better when ran under a medium setting.i wuld try something like that before redoing the list. did you upload the mod manager? also add the debug mod.they will make this a lot easier.

test 1: leave the start mods azs they are. move all the animal mods up and enable them.enable the crops except EB's sunflowers. lerabe KID's amd DS mods off. run a test for bout 10 yrs and see if there is problems.  use the debug to add buildings and a TP or several.while the game is running,check your crop seeds and orchards. check your livestock. these will give you a way to see what you need to add.debug in a TH and click the icon to "make all items visible". this will add all items loaded to the inventory. note any blank tags or double tags.


if game does not crash,add KID's mods and retest the same way

if no crash do same thing adding DS mods.

if no crash add all other mods.

     hopefully by the time it crashes,you have a clue as to why. at least it will narrow it down to a smaller group of mods.

What is a TP and a TH? I don't know how to run in debug mode but I'll google it.  Do you mean medium graphics settings or medium maps? My computer is a gaming computer so I would rather not turn the settings down. I know it can handle it.

What mod manager are you talking about?

the debug is a mod that gives you options to get all the seeds and livestock it also allows you to build buildings instantly.you cqan just place the 1's you want and let the bannies work by themself.no anagment required for a few years. TP is trade post,Th is townhall.
no graphic changes medium is a start setting when you set the map up to play. i would go vanilla as much as possable until you find the bug. no unique trees or other start options. reason being is the DS terrain and some of KID's mods will have different options that might be clashing. should be fair climate and medium start.

now you can enable or disable mods faster.plus you don't have to click 100 times to move them up the list.

at the bottom of your start menu it should read banished version 1.07 build 170910 this is critical

Ah ha, thank you! I'm going to give that a try.

ETA: I tried it and noticed that DS Small Village Production had some blank labels for the bannocks. But I already follow his mod load order and that mod is pretty much on top! Guess I will have to take it out for now.

Starting on Kid's mods with a new save.

depends what is missing. did you have any double tags? did you narrow down the cause of the crashes?

mods are a give and take as times. we give up some things but gain more. for example, i use the old 1.06 my precious mod thios sets gold and silver ores to textile flag instead of the 1.07 my precious. if i make gold bars with  it ,they won't work for RK building material. but i can smelt pfenning for the CC fort mod. ny tweaking the mod order to get the climate more like where i live,food production is harder.some of the mod order is up to the players choice or tastes.

    what is "bannocks" are they made by a different Ds building? are they needed as a building requirement?

No, Bannocks are a type of bread that historically used to be eaten. They come with DS Small Village Production, but if you try to assign them they don't have any description, just the picture. I haven't found duplicates of anything yet. But I also haven't had any crashing, yet.

that is good. do you should have sunflower seeds with the RK so the EB's aren't needed. it is a good idea to keep some notes when you find issues,so you remember what happened later. i would move the CC quiet near the top.any mod that changes affects or adds any should be loaded before others. even thou they might not matter now, the more sorted things are the easier to find problems later.

      just below the start mods,i'd put the seeds and livestock. i set mine to load the RK seeds 1st since it is a big list then add to itif there are issues,you can move seeds above the RK.you might find different outputs moving the seed mods around.

   the way the game loads mods is the top most has the most affect. anything the 1st does, the next can't undo.whatever coding is wrote in the topmost mods is ignored in the mods after it.each mod can only add to the 1's above it or affect coding that those did not.

    once you get a mod order that is working well,save it with the mod manager. then you can use it to reset the order if there is an issue later.you can even save groups of mod orders for different games or maps with it.

I finally had my first crash, but I don't know why. I noticed that Kid's Settler's Mod puts in fur, but they are showing up unlabeled at the traders. How can I fix that? Should I put in higher in the load order?
The crash happened very suddenly, but again when the trader showed up. I was using mostly kid's Gothic Fantasy and Settlers sets. I'm super frustrated, and I even tried opening up the crash dump file with notepad to read it, but it was mostly code I didn't understand. This is driving me crazy and I don't know what to do!

does the trade boat make it all the way to the trade port before the crash? how far before the crash is you save point? if the boats make it to the TP,i wonder if someting else is heppening at the same time causing the crash. i would look around to verious workers to see what they are doing. you can try to move the Settler mod higher but not sure it will solve the crash. when you ran the debug test and found the blank tags,did you have any other fur in the inventory or TP?

did you place a campfire of any kind on the map?

Hi. Late to the discussion.
I have tested some but I do not load that many mods.
Settlers itself and a few more mods seem to work without disturbance.
I get no missing fur description or fur icon. I have checked the code and, honestly,
I do not know what to look for. This far it is okay.

It sounds like something is bothering the trader. When he has got a special item
and docks, the game crashes. I have checked flags and new limits on this side
and I can not see anything wrong.

I have no experience from load order. I activate only a few mods each playthrough.

@child_of_air   You say you are using mostly Kid's mods.  What mods that are not Kid's are you using?  Whose trading post are you using?  I am sure that is where your problems are.

I have used all of Kid's mods in many combinations with no problems, often with other mod included.  I do not change load order.  I have four groups and each are in alphabetical order.  I enable select mods carefully from each group and have had no problems.

 Abandoned, Scroll up for my mod list, it's there. I did take out a few of DS mods, but aside from that it's almost entirely the same. I did also move up the Settlers mod.

When this happened, I was using the tiny trader from Tiny Things- another one of Kid's mods.  The crash happened as soon as I got the notification that the trader was there. My save is pretty far ahead of that event, unfortunately.

@child_of_air  I had no problem using Settlers and I used it with Tiny, Old Town, and several other mods of Kid's - see blog of Cottage Grove mod list.  I have used Tiny trader many times with no problems.

DS jetty I believe has trading post, I don't know if that may be causing trading post problem.  I do not use the latest version.  I do not know what dairy milk and creamery is but that might conflict with Kid's animal sheds that are in Tiny and Old Town, but should not affect trading post.  New Flora is an old mod, there were problems with flax and other mods - DS ?

I would suggest what brad3 suggested - narrow down and test groups of mods.  Use small map and enable only Kids mods.  Do the same with DS.  Enable auto save. I do not use debug. 

Good luck, I hope you can solve crashing problems.

Yeah, I took out the DS Jetty because I was having issues with it. I did notice that using the Pirates and Ports, when I went to build the trader that comes with that, they started building it at a different location. I'm attaching a picture for reference, I thought it was pretty strange. If you could post your load order, that would be great. I keep trying to take out a little here and a little there, and rearranging the load order.

Are you sure about New Flora? Do you recommend taking it out? I really like that mod.

Hi.

I checked the trader and sure, you are right about the model. The wooden one is off 20 tiles
when you start building it. I will post a fix. That should not cause a crash, it is only a visual error.

I will continue through the trader code and check it.

@kid1293   We had that problem when making mod and testing. I thought we corrected it.  It wouldn't cause crashes though, I had no trading problems or crash with mod enabled or trading post built.

@child_of_air  I have 290 mods , I have load order listed at the start of each story.  I have 4 groups and each group is alphabetical except for a few exceptions in each.

Yes, New Flora has been a problem with several mods and there is a patch somewhere.  Problem is not with Kid's mods.  I use New Flora Edit mod.  I would not use New Flora with mods others than Kid's.

I don't swear it is not any of my mods causing problem.
You people have found many, many errors I didn't think existed.
It is a never-ending project.

What I do know is that traders sometimes can come with wares that are coded wrong.
The crash comes just when the boat is landing. It does not happen all the time, only
when the game has that particular ware on board. Very hard to find.

I have checked through Tiny trader code too. I can't find any errors.

Do as @brads3 and @Abandoned say. Eliminate groups of mods to narrow down
where the culprit is. It is tedious and in a perfect world, it should not be needed.

Thank you guys for your help. Yes Kid, I think that is what is happening for me. Something is making it crash, but I don't know what exactly. I'm going to try and narrow it down. I hope it's nothing with Gothic Fantasy, as that is my favorite mod of yours and one I always play with!

@child_of_air  My first group of mods - Map Changing & Starting Mods include climates, terrains, trees, roads, and start conditions.  The 2nd group is tweaks - that improve or increase things   The Major and must Have group consists of mods that for the most part are complete in themselves - that have Town Hall and production.  Also included are addons and mods that belong together with the major mod. some have their own start conditions or terrains - I do not you them together and do not use many at one time.  The last group is everything else most of which can be used with just about anything - carrots, sunflowers, deco, storage, houses.  Here again I am very selective and do not use more than I need or plan to use on a map.

as KID said it can be a tedius process of elimination to figure out which mod is causing the issue.uit can take weeks to narrow down.sometimes going back to the last save point helps.since the trade boats and items are random,the game might not crash the next play thru.  on every crash,has it happened at the same point? does it happen always when a boat is dockiing at the TP?

   what is the mod order you are currently using? did you debug a TH onto the map and check the full inventory? double tags or blanks? do you have a mod that has not been updated to 1.07?? in other words somehow you downloaded an older version.

No, I don't have any older versions of things that I know of. Yes, it typically is linked to trader and happens when the trader docks. I'm still pairing down my mod list, so I'll let you know what makes the cut as I've narrowed things down significantly.

Still having issues with the fur from Settlers not show up, no matter where I put it. Right now it's above everything to see if the furs will get the appropriate tag. :/

@child_of_air   I had no problem with Kid Settlers mod or any of the other Kid Mods.  Something else is causing your problem.  What is Animal Example?  Disable all other mods except Kids mods.

@child_of_air - I tested with only Settlers and debugged in a lot of textiles.
Sure, the fur was there so it is addressed correctly in the mod.
Icon and description were okay.

I have no way except to load a herd of bears to get fur. I will test that too.

I added bears to the game and build several hunters. They got fur and the tailor made warm coats.

what issue with fur are you having? do you have feathers? did you remobe the "settlers" mod to verify it was the problem? what does the "animal example" mod do? why did you place a goup of mods before you finished the start mods? which mod is being used to set the start conditions of the map? what other mod is addig fur??what does the decorative seaonal mod do?what mods is it coflicted with?what is your goal from the seasoFX mod? why is a start mod toward the bottom of the list,the DS better pile mod? how mad are the gremlins in your computer do you try to feed them sometimes? why is i efore e except after c ut not always?......

IF you do narrow down an issue to a particular mod AND that mod tests fine,it is quite possale you have a 3 way conflict. these are bery hard to find.   they never happened before the 1.07 upgrade. they do not happen often thou. i have only seen maybe 3 of these after using 100's of mods.have yet to see any other player find 1.

Okay, I'll try that and narrow it down.

The Settlers mod is the only one that has the fur. No other mod has it.

Animal Example is the example from Banished- it contains the white chickens, the lettuce and figs I think. https://www.nexusmods.com/banished/mods/29

Seasonal FX is here, you can check that mod out yourself: https://www.reddit.com/r/Banished/comments/37xddj/banished_season_fx_comparison/   It was at the Banished Info site, but I can't seem to get on the site anymore. Basically, it's a graphical mod that makes seasonal effects happen. Seasonal FX conflicts with my the RK Crops file.

I'm using DS Climates and Terrains, that's the mod I'm using for maps. Some mods are at the bottom because they are GREEN, which in your tutorial that I followed, you said it didn't matter where I put them. So that's where they are. I temporarily moved Settlers on top of the orchards and seed mods, just to see if I could get the fur to shop up correctly, but it still won't. I have no idea why.

@kid1293 and @child_of_air  I just enabled all of Kid mods on list (except for Tree Replacer and Storage Carts) along with all the enabled mods in my currant blog story Gator Glade.  As I said it is not Kid Settlers or Tiny or any other Kid mod on the list.  See attached screenshot -  Tiny Trader and Tiny Town Hall show furs.  No problem

@child_of_air  You do not have the latest version 2.02 of Tiny  Update and try again. If your problem still persists, remove other mods - one of them is the problem - not Settlers or other Kid mods.

I did myself what I recommended you to do @child_of_air !
ONLY Settlers! And very well, I found a missing link!
It made the fur show up but without description.
I always have some other mods with fur so I never noticed.

Sorry for being so stubborn :)

This is not causing your crash though. I believe @Abandoned has made
extensive tests to the Tiny Trader and I have gone through the code.
As you understand I can also stare myself blind.
Please post any findings! :)

sounds like some progress was made. i doubt the seasonFX will change the seasons now. the trees and terrain have been modded extensively since that mod was made. i do use it for the plowed field look. if it is only conflicting with the seeds, then i don't see it being an issue. i do wonder if the animal example is causiing issues since you say it brings some seeds.i would try to disable that. the DS pile mod i would move closer to the top. it does affect the start texture of the piles. you do list 2 pile mods but those shouldn't be causing the crash.

   it really becomes trial and error. put all start mods in then add DS mods,since that is your start settings. then KID's, etc. each time playing to where the crash happens. with the randomness of the trader merchants it could take some time. did you try building a different TP, to see if it happens then? are there any other blank tags listed? do you show feathers listed?

@kid1293 I have used Tiny and Tiny traders many times with no problems.  This test I built 3 general traders, had many merchants arrive each year for 9 years - no problems, no crash.  I rarely change mod order, only enable or disable mods as needed.  :)
