Hi all, I've benefited from many fine Banished modders here.  I thought I would introduce the mod I use to remove what was, to me, the most annoying part of the game: forced population growth.

From the mod description:
I was always stressed out by the forced gradual housing expansion
in order to avoid mass population die-off. This mod turns that around by
drastically shrinking the window of time where houses are occupied by couples
beyond childbearing age. Barring starvation, cold, disease, and disasters,
there will be no population waves. The population will always settle between
90 and 99 percent of max available housing slots. Now your population expands
when you want it to (ie. when YOU build housing). This is done by raising the
max age that women have children and decreasing the max lifespan. Thus there
is always a next childbearing generation to fill the house's availability.
The adult population will fluctuate in the range of 59% to 72% of total population
when all children are being educated. Don't worry anymore about what percentages
should be children, students, and adults to avoid the death spiral. If you want
more people, simply build more housing, and the availability slots will fill
up over the next several years. With a stable food, heating, and health
infrastructure in place, it's actually possible to let the game run for years
without intervention.

The game speed is vanilla (not 1:1).

Thanks for the tutorials @slink @RedKetchup @Pangaea
