Title: BRAD'S SETTLING OF AMERICA SERIES 4: Elbergen
Post by: brads3 on September 08, 2020, 07:41:19 AM
mod setup. adding CC Journey to the RKEC and DS IND mods.

i want to go thru how i set up the next map. someone had mentioned using CC Journey with the RKEC. i will move to the Kentucky,Tennesee area. land of country music, horse racing and whiskey where land flattens out from the Appalachian mountains to the Mississippi River and prairie.  this is south of the Ohio River, that many traveled down on houseboats on their way west.

i try to keep the base mod order the same. remove mods that won't be needed and add others.having a  base mod order helps a lot. the game keeps track of where in the order the other mods go.this will save having to remember all the conflicts and keeping the mods in their place as they are moved in and out of the WinData folder. the game will put them back in the order next time by itself, unless i delete the registry. it took way too much time to get this mod order where it is. it functions too well to mess it up now.

the mod manager makes this task so much easier and faster. we don't even have to load the game to do most of this. i will load the game after i reset the mods in the order to check the amount of memory being used. with  this computer,i can push it to about 80-90% usage and everything will work fine. with several larger mods, the RKEC,CC J, and DS IND, i will need to cut some losses.

we start with the mod order of Dubon. open the mod manager and WinData folder. disable all CC  mods that are included with the CC J.since i have the mods in a backup folder,i can delete these from the WinData folder.copy the CC J from the backup folder to the WinData folder. close and reopen the mod manager, no need to save the profile as the mods have been removed. the mod manager will reload with the CC J added but not enabled.enable the mod with the mod manager, click "write to game", then "save to file". took bout 10 mins with the mod manager. to load the game and enable the mod and reload would take longer.

this gives us the corn whiskey from KID's wild west mod and maple whiskey from the Pine mod. we have the trade animal mod from CC for horses.i then added KID's houseboat mod, copied over from the backup. since we are near Memphis and the Ohio River, i wanted to add those.i

i did load this to double check the memory being used. game loaded very slowly.total memory use is above 90%. so i went ahead and disabled EB's beach mods and RED's deocations mod. still needed more memory power,so i disabled DS housing mods- hovels, cabins, and Fulbert. then disabled EB's irrigation mods but left the decoration part on. the computer wasn't happy still,so i removed the train mods.
total time around  an hour. did take the game a while to load so needed to remove more mods.

next trick will be to find a map with the river in the right spot. after much trail and error, we have a map with the river wrapping around to our north and west. i wish we had more rolling hills but this will have to do.

113 mods, RKEC,DS IND and traders, and CC Journey combined.

ELBERGEN.4093631,woodland meadow valley, very large,fair climate,no disasters,and medium setting beans,watermelones,and raspberry

goal- to show how well the 3 large mods will work together.build come horse ranches and horse tracks.work toward trading horses and whiskey.

with the large maps,i think a county map idea works well. thinking is this amount of land covers a county not just 1 city.then use forest areas between the towns.so i'll build a few different towns. and maybe a city for the Kentucky Derby. even with the mods i took out, i do have a ton of options to build with.  other than maybe a nomad  bridge we won't cross the river. we need to trade for oats, apples, corn, tobacco,  and the trade horses.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

we traveled down the small river stream on houseboats.10 of us with 9 children.this is where we found ourselves as the sun warmed things back up. it is now spring and we need to plant the beans and raspberry seeds.1 bannie caught trout from the river as the others cleared land and began building log cabins. while we work to build up a small start village,we  clear land to slowly work our way toward the main river.

a lookout tower is built to unt from and watch for any boats.in the fall,we stop clearing land to gather food.the bannies did trap some fox and otters even with the RK start. during the winter,a furrier hut is built to make pelt and fur clothing.

YEAR 2 and 3

there are 2 twin girls in 1 of the houseboats. they will each need a house.1 was built near a pear tree. the farmyard will give us some corn and cabbages along with the pears.a mini toolsmith from KID's workplace mod was built which will make rough tools from the iron ore. we also have a  mini townhall. by summer, we had ate enough trout so our fisherman went to help the laborers. the start village added another storage barn over the winter.

in our 3rd year, a covered pile was added so we could continue clearing land toward the main river.

Correct me if I am wrong but Kid workplace does not have mini buildings and the workplace anvil does not use iron ore or make rough tools from iron ore. You must be confused with CC mini buildings.

mine does. hmm i do have the blacksmith tool mod above it.

oh of course, the old Blacksmith Tool mod.  :)  Perhaps you should say because of Blacksmith Tool mod, Kid Workplace toolsmith will make rough tools from iron ore.  Calling the toolsmith mini was misleading.  CC Mini Buildings and Kid Workplace are 2 different mods.

Good luck with new map  :)

KID workplace version 1.13. i do have KID's ploppable mine that he BS tool mod.. it can make a variety of tools including muskets.only KID mod known to do that is the RH. the CC J is way at the bottom of the order. several of KID's other blacksmiths will make wood and stone tools but not rough iron ore tools.the Rowhouse BS will do as the workplace 1.

to be even stranger,i do have the RKEC above the blacksmith tool mod. it has to be that way for the main BS to process iron from the ore.

there are a lot of KID mods in this order. some are very touchy about their place. the FO thatch mod helps houses use thatch as fuel. that has to be high in the order. the honey being used to make jam needs the Gothic Farm mod high as well.then the worshop mod is high in KID's group to get his toolbar icons as labels instead of the icons.

YEAR 4 and 5

the bannies are content. there is nothuing they need.firewood and tool limits were raised. it is peaceful and quiet here. some of the children are old enuf to help,so the work isn't too bad.in the fall they took time to  serach for herbs.

Memphis will be our trade town to the west. to the east will be a mine town and another town farther north.Louisville will be the mian town but i haven't decided where it will go.

a good size herd of bison waunders around us. we did send a quick hunter now and then to increase our leather.we don't overhunt them but didn't want them overunning our fields either. these are KID textures RK bison. they look wild but will spook easily.a hunter takes 1 or 2 of them and the rest will run off. not sure how RED coded that. 1 of the girls added a workplace tailor near the storage barn.

YEAR 6 and 7

a mid-aged couple arived. they were fishing along the stream when they came upon our village. we told them about the river to the west.the couple decided to stay and build a small house and fishing pier.

a KID forest is established to the south of the start village. we will need lumber for the CC buildings.this will supply the logs. a RK apiary will produce beeswax for candles. this will give us a trade good.

YEAR 10 REVIEW

our population grew from 19 to 34. 1 nomad couple and we moved girls out of the houseboats at young ages. they have paired up well.there has been more girls born than male children. the bannies have stockpiled food with some quick hunting and gathering. to keep the young helpers busy, we sent them planting a KID forest. we will need the trees later. they worked ahead to stockpile caandles to trade and lumber.

country dirt roads will connect the towns and stone roads will be used for the larger cities. each of the girls planted a lilac bush.

goals for the next 10 years- get the trading started. hopefully more nomads will arrive to double our workforce. the plan is to stretch farms along the small river north and start a horse ranch across the river.slowly work our way to the 2 production areas.

no mod conflicts yet. i did notice part of the MyPrecious mod is included with the CC J,been awhile since i used it. the CC J is upgraded to 1.07 limits so i left the My Precious mod in since i am used to the way it stores the ores.

YEAR 10 and 11

the 2nd nomad couple arrived in early summer. they  too are in their late 40's.  they build a CC farm trade post along the main river. the candles, copper ore, some flowers ,and some herbs will be stocked at the trading post. we will have to work to have more trade goods. a holding pen is fenced to temporarily graze livestock.

YEAR 12 and 13

now that all the bannies have paired up, we will build a cabin to move the 13 yr old girl from the houseboats. she builds close to the forester. a KID fort tower hunter is used there to help boost the leather. it may be a slight cheat, but i think the guard tower will produce better with the lake so close.   a 10yr old female took the cabin. a 2nd was built and again a 10yr old girl moved in. a large colonial was constructed, our 3rd house of the year. she still refused to move from the houseboat. this time a 10yr old boy moved in. he wil stay til he turns 15.guess Valene will stay on the boat as she likes being rocked asleep by the water.

the 3rd nomad couple arrived in late spring.  they are younger than the others. being missionaries, they build a school and church.they want our children to grow up educated and cultured.

a merchant brought bison.we were able to afford 2. work began on a 16x30 pasture.

YEAR 14 to 17

the bison were moved to the new pasture. the missionary couple made a playground for the children.some planting of flowers and trees was completed. the hunting is paying off for us. we can send more fur and leather coats to the trade post.we continue to clear rocks and stockpile supplies.

we managed to trade for the tobacco seeds and corn seed.

to help any nomads arriving from the west, a drawbridge was constructed across the mighty river.we had our 1st death. the wife was helping her husband fish and fell in the river. she was unable to swim in the fast moving water.as the next couple paired up, Valene finally decided to move out from her parent's houseboat. her mother fears the 19 year old daughter will remain single. there is a lack of young males in our village.

YEAR 18 and 19

now that students are begining to graduate, we build 2 small colonial houses.  2   more girls move from the houseboats and plant tobacco.this will give us another trade good.

a couple arrive with a newborn. the nomad family builds a forester and plymouth house across the east river. the forest lies between the start village and a production town.

YEAR 20 REVIEW

population 64, with 30 workers in 15 houses and 3 houseboats. 3 nomad families arrived. we built our 1st trading post. it aquired  2 bison and 2 seeds, tobacco and corn. a nomad couple build a school and chuch. the 4th planted a forest to the east. the bannies had 1 accidental death. they did work hard at keeping the trade post stocked with coats and candles.the wood cutter has less time to cut lumber nowadays.

we didn't quite double our population. with the school, our work force grew slowly. we are starting to graduate students.

next goal- the merchants haven't brought any trade animals yet. i do think we will need a general trade post for those.
with the CC mod we will need lots of logs for lumber and we need building supplies which is a combination of several produced goods.hence,we need to get the production town started and use it to supply a general trade post. then we will need markets to move goods.

big LOL @ your profession list.
Title: Re: BRAD'S SETTLING OF AMERICA SERIES 4: Elbergen
Post by: brads3 on September 18, 2020, 10:58:58 AM
yes it is. and it won't alphabetize either. game adds 1 mod full of professions then adds the next to it.with 3 major mods, yours, CC , and DS IND. plus KID,NECORA,and EB add some. easiest way is maintain the builders and laborers. the workplaces hire indiviually. then have to manage them or adjust the limits.

usually i try to minimize what is in the inventory by not getting too many seeds. here i have to process lots with the CC building material chain. the CC Journey was set by trade values, so the balance is screwy.

YEAR 20 and 21

we gained 2 longhorn cattle with our farm trade post. a 16x16 pasture is fenced south of Memphis. we also trade for wheat seeds.

while we have time between nomad groups,we build another saltbox house for a girl on the houseboats. instead a couple divorces and the husband moves. typical bannies. the girls are reluctant to move from the houseboats. the fisherman and his son moved to a small colonial after his wife's death.and now a divorce. these bannies are slowing the population growth.

even thou we are in the south,we do get wind across the plains. some winters are very cold. we have had to work to keep stocked with firewood.this year we sent the sawmill cutting firewood.

YEAR 22 and 23

at 23. Valene decided not to be an old maid. she finally took a husband. the other 2 girls moved out of the houseboats.

we traded for root and pear seeds. the roots are planted. we have enough fruit that we won't plant the pears yet.  a 2nd tobacco field was planted also.

YEAR 24 and 25

a rural town market was built for thr start village. it will help move goods from the barns. a covered old town market is planned fo the trading city. this will keep a variety of goods for the trade posts.

in late spring 9 nomads arrived.2 couples, a teen worker, and 3 children.they will move to the mine mountain to the east of the forest.a production town will be built. they dig an RK random quarry. this will give iron and copper ore and stone.they build a DS hearth to make the anvil that is needed to make the blacksmith.these will improve our tools and give us materials for the trade poststo make the anvil, we needed to make charcoal.

YEAR 26

finally by spring ,we had the anvil to begin construction of the DS blacksmith.the hearth made iron fittings that will be used to make wagon parts. we have ran out of iron.the hearth upgrades to copper tools from the ore for the quarry workers.

it becomes much harder to tell who is who now. the houseboats do have some students living with the older parents.they are beyond child bearing,so no longer a concern. i located 2 females who graduated.the fisherman who's wife died now lives alone. he is 60. the others are paired up except the divorced couple. we will build 2 houses and 2 workplaces this year. graduates from this year will work to boost food production.

the missionaries convinced the 2 girls to move to the production town. they were concerned with the distance and wanted a school and church for the new town.

i'll explain the production situation. there are 3 main mods, the RK,DS,and CCJ. the DS buildings need many materials to build. they use coke fuel, made from the coke oven or charcoal.the CC  uses a lot of lumber. for fuel, it uses furnace fuel.the RK uses lumber and glass and can process iron without fuel.the glass needs charcoal or coal fuel. we will need iron but we also need to conserve firewood and logs. either way means more buildings than we have workers for.

some of the DS chain is needed to build the Thomson trade posts. there is enough copper ore collected to make copper tools to supply the quarry workers. hence the reason for building the hearth and blacksmith. the CC chain will be needed to build many of the CC houses and colonial buildings.the RK chain is much simpler and will support the other 2.

the trade post continues trading for seeds. it has seen trade animals but the merchants do not bring them often. any other map, they bring the trade animals too much, here very seldom. we have not been offered trade horses yet.

YEAR 27 and 28

food production did improve with the markets moving supplies from the barns. we do have more graduates to build houses for. a Colonial windmill and bakery are built near the city market. 2 saltbox houses are built for the graduates. the east forest added a gathering hut and an old hunter's hut. this should improve our food. the production town has a firewood cutter to supply the hearth.

we had 2 deaths during child birth.

13 nomads arrived in summer of our 28th year.7 adults, 2 teens, and 4 children.1 couple will plant a 3rd forest,1 begins work on a general trade post, and 1 family moves to the production town.

a pine and maple forest is planted north of the mine mountain. this will supply logs ,pine items, and maple sap for both the producion town and a future city.these will supply pine boughs for some charcoal and maple for the whiskey.

YEAR 29

an old town trade post is established. we need to improve our trading before we build the Thompson traders. a small market will keep the production workers supplied. they built a CC chain to process iron. a small refinery will make furnace fuel from coal to be used by the small smelter.

the livestock trade post continues to stock candles and both leather and fur coats. there is herbs and flowers stocked as well. the old town trade post stocks the tobacco.

the farm trade post brought in 4 pigs.there was a fight over this and the son kicked his parents out of their house.

YEAR 30 REVIEW

population 136,with 16 students,in 32 houses. we took in 2 groups of nomads, adding 22 bannies. the trade posts brought us longhorn cattle and pigs, plus wheat, root, sugar beet, and pear seed. the trade pports were expanded, markets have been built, and a new production town settled. we are planting a 3rd and 4th forest. an RK random quarry supplies the iron processors and DS blacksmith.

population more than doubled. we are graduating students steadily and they are pairing up nicely, finally.we are up to 3 towns; the start village,Memphis the trade center, and a production town.

next goal- a townhall is needed by the production town.they will want a tavern. a townhall will also be needed for Memphis. those will decide the materials needed by the production town. a pig pasture needs to be fenced. hopefully, merchants bring the horses and can start building the ranch.

YEAR 35 and 36

the nomads all have houses and we built 1 for our graduates. according to the stats chart,we need 2 more houses. i take the working population and divide by 2 as a general rule.we have way,way more workers than jobs. the last nomad group added 12,4 of which were teen's. the pine-maple forest added 5 jobs.the ranch added 5 more. and the butcher. 11 out of 14 were put to work.  the towns have added several workplaces also.

where did all these extra workers come from?  counting the extra builders that were sent to speed up construction, there are about 15 unaccounted for. i did check around the map and haven't found a surplus of houses or workers. evidently the 4 teen nomads didn't pair up when they moved to the forest. we have graduated more students than i thought.

we need to increase the food production. the blacksmiths report a shortage of minerals.the candle maker needs more beeswax.the farms expand northward.we'll dig another mine. the ranch will add a beekeeper.
we turn a group of 19 nomads away while we are busy catching up.

we built 3 houses.2 fields are plowed.a KID's RK mine is dug to bring in iron ore. a kiln will make charcoal from pine boughs.this will supply the hearth.we scavenged for more minerals and  increased our tool production.

this takes us back to 10 laborers supplying 2 builders.we did send 2 of the laborers to help the builders in the winter months.

YEAR 37 and 38

the missionaries trained 2 doctors. a hsopital is built for Memphis and a clinic for the production town.
a DS general trade post and storage are built.we have enough seeds to slow down the seed trade post. the Thompson trade post will stock fur coats, pelts, and some flowers.

   we traded for 4 chickens.

20 nomads arrived,12 workers and 8 children. 2 families move to Memphis to grow food.they go on to build the Corn Crib tavern to make corn whiskey.the others head to the production town.this group is large enuf to fill the churches. they will be disabled to avoid a work strike til the builders can find time to add a 3rd church.

YEAR 39

we ran short on lumber.to increase the firewood so the sawmill has time to cut lumber,we increase workers at all markets to move more logs. a log cutter ,school, and small chapel are built at the edge of the large pine forest. we send a couple to live and help there.to bring more stone,a RK quarry is dug. then we begin work on salt houses for Memphis.

YEAR 40 REVIEW

population 232, with 44 students,in 60 houses.we accepted 2 groups of 36 nomads and turned 1 away. an increase of almost 100 bannies.we did decrease the food reserves while catching up some construction and material needs. the merchants brought chickens and lots of seeds. we have wheat and corn, watermelon, strawberry, raspberry, and pears, and bean, veggy, root, potato, tomato, and carrots.as well as maple, tobacco, and sugar beet seeds.plenty of crop seeds but we still wait for trade horses.

the horse ranch is raising feed for the animals.we built 2 townhalls and a hospital and clinic. a 3rd school and church were need with the population growth.a 3rd and 4th forest  is being planted, pine and maple.we dry the tobacco for better trade value.we have 1 tavern that makes corn whiskey.the production town dug a mine and quarry.it also processes flax into linen. we now have a DS Thompson trade post.

next decade's goals- to build many of the CC buildings, we need building materials. the production town will be busy.north of the pine-maple forest, will be more farms. we will need 1 and probably 2 more forests near the lake.soon as we can,we will order the trade horses and finish the 1st ranch.

while Memphis grows, we will start making supplies to begin building Louisville.

YEAR 40

the chickens are moved out of the holding pen.a run was cleared near the forest school. Memphis needed a blacksmith and tailor.a building material supplier is completed.

the RK blacksmith makes iron tools from iron ore. the heart makes iron tools with iron and the DS smith makes steel tools with the charcoal and iron for the miners.  the supply shed needs glass or brick. to conserve logs,we will make the building materials from glass, copper pipe, and stone.the bannies are already hauling in more stone and copper ores.the CC mod was made before the 1.07 update. hence the complex way of getting houses to use more materials for construction.

we finally sent an order for trade horses.

YEAR 41

we have 5 graduates and we need 1 house. 1 is sent to the RK quarry to dig for more stone. another plants a grove of pear trees near the tobacco plantation. a 3rd worker helps haul logs for the sawmill. it is still switching to firewood as needed.

2 fields are cleared just north of the pine forest. this will be the edge of Louisville. i am going to try to transition from RED's plymouth houses to the CC higher grade colonials.this will be a slow process as we need different materials before Louisville can be built.

we caught up the logs and firewood. the 3 crops should start increasing our food outputs.

 YEAR 42

before nomads arrive,we need to increase our food production. more gatherers are sent out.a walnut park is added to Memphis.these granny parks make good fillers. 2 farms work north of the production town.

a merchant brought our order of trade horses.

YEAR 43

our churches are full. to avoid a work strike ,an RK wood church is built for the start village. even thou the bannies are happy and content, they will stop work with the churches crowded.  a very minor issue. these bannies age and pair up well. their education is improved.they even have some safety and 1st aid training.

as i suspected, the trade horses never show in the pasture. due to a slight glitch, the horses show at the trade post. the pasture does keep count of them. we are getting some feathers and bonemeal from the other pastures even with the CC way below the RKEC.

the bannies took time to start fencing the horse ranch.

the CC small market is full. there is such a variety of goods ,the bannies have no room for food in it. a food cart was added to keep the production village supplied.

YEAR 44 and 45

the bannies started work to process the maple sap.it'll be boiled down to make syrup and then again to make the maple whiskey. they also work to nuture more maple trees at the edge of the forest.this will cause 2 maple saps in the inventory. a CC sugar house will be needed to boil the 2nd sap down. i hoping that we only have 1 tag of syrup and it all  can be made into whiskey.

26 nomads arrived,17 workers and 9 children. can we keep them fed?  we'll want to increase to 3 builders and 15 workers.6 others move south of the production town. they will plant a hardwood forest. these logs will work to make fancy furniture.   2 more fields will be cleared. 1 will grow corn for the whiskey still. a boardinghouse was built near the trade posts.

a merchant brought milk cows. we will trade for 4 of these then empty the farm trade post of goods.it can be shut down. we traded for some copper pipes and can begin making building supplies.

enough houses were built to empty the boardinghouse.there are 2 unemployed from the nomads plus 16 graduates.

YEAR 46

we begin work on the glass and pipe chains. a RK sand pit is dug on the lake. a CC copper mine is dug. the CC sugar house will process the CC maple sap.while we work on that, houses can be built and a pasture for the milk cows fenced.

YEAR 47

a riverboat arrived in Memphis.we sure can't build Memphis without an old steamboat.the dairy pasture is fenced.

the production town built a CC glassworks. this can use coal or furnace fuel to process the sand.a CC forge is built.this does not make copper pipe. it also uses fuel to process ores.i haven't played with the CC processors in a while. the RKEC foundry would have processed the ores without needing fuel.

the objective is to make building supplies and conserve materials. we have several production chains working at the same time from different mods.this can get complicated quickly.we have pine boughs to make chacoal. we have a short amount of coal and limited amount of iron and copper ore.

we will need more iron, coal, and stone. a multi mine or quarry will be needed. for now the forge will process copper. we will need that to make the pipes. steel tools are being made with chacoal for the miners.iron tools are being made with the iron ore and some iron.a cart will help move the iron ore back to the RK blacksmith.
this will conserve more iron.

if you are not confused yet, hang on. this is just 1 of several materials we need to build the CC olonial buildings.

we traded pipe tobacco for 200 coal and 200 iron.

YEAR 48

before we expand the production town,we need to deal with a couple things.the DS trade post is not stocking goods well. we increase the clothing to move fur coats. we will send 5 workers to haul supplies. and we will add some material markets.we may need a 3rd trade post.to build houses for all those workers, means we will need more food.

a cart hauls iron ore for the blacksmiths. a Nordic wharehouse, material cart, and a misc stall should move supplies for the DS trade post.

our 6th forest is being planted. a KID forest south of the 1st one.

YEAR 49

to finish off this decade, i want to expand food, catch up on housing, add a church and school to keep the bannies happy, and start making the pipes.

we plowed 5 more fields.bannies fish the lake and river near the KID forest.another plantaion field was cleared to grow more tobacco..Memphis has grown enough to support another school and church.a metalsmith is half completed.

food production has improved. we are up to 25 laborers supplying 5 builders.we had to begin sending nomads away.

good monring, the grmlins have won this map for now.1 got loose and has been eating RAM. with this map ,i was pushing power levels. i have hardware issues that have cost enough RAM that this map won't load. was nothing to do with the mod order.

instead of fighting the gremlin and making the situation worse,i am going to double check all the backup files and move this map to a flashdrive.  this comes at a bad time with the virus and economics.

Losing a map is annoying. A computer on the glitch is terrifying. Hoping for the best and good luck.
