Title: SUPER TEST: Edgeside
Post by: brads3 on April 04, 2018, 12:01:55 PM
3 upgrades and many tests.

mod adjustments: upgrade RKEC 12C,disable extra pile mod<other is white> and DS carts, moved gh lighthouse above RK<was only letting me place one>,drop hunt mods back down, drop CC mods except precious, move bakery plus and  baker and miller below main mods, double checked more wood and stone mod disabled.added Ds tunnel mine.
ran some tests with ND,North, and CC terrain off, bakery plus fails, lighthouse still fails,
salt works,marble still overproductive,
salted meat worker empties the storage barn. conflict with baker and bake plus mods<those are now disabled>

test 2:North on ND off, special stockpiles had to be off with North on;deer, pigs, chick, copper, silver appear with A&E start, fodder and firewood also.

several tests and mod changes to try to place more than 1 of the gh lighthouses all fail.

issue: North mod overpowers RK woodchopper.no way to use thatch except as fodder.hence,ND enabled. this shuts down animals and extra ores from appearing unless using RED's A&E start.did get a crash when placing and clikcing on trade post.this only affects the main trading post.seed post amd nordic do work.

was an odd "glitch". the profession menu goofy at times.not every game. has a place for each building not job title. so if there is 2 bakeries,it has 2 baker spots to the menu.fort buildings which are from 1 mod,has mutliple places in menu.this makes the menu taller than the screen.hopefully RED's upgrade changes fixed this.

from testing on A&E start
the fodder is growing and burns as thatch per the ND mod, hunters get leather from deer, the nordic storage shed have issues, there is 2 types of firewood, the deadwood tool clears 1 type, the food clear "apple" button does work on bird nests and cranberry of the pine mod.doesn't work on all items though.

climates appear to be intermittent from either mod without changing the mod order.in tests, summers did hit 80 and winter was much shorter on mild.other times the climate stayed near 70 all summer and winter was oct to mid-late march.

                                           EDGESIDE

on an A&E start, the thatch will turn off but still be burnable and be needed for construction.the ores and animals will appear per RKEC.

map start:edgeside,198649322,valley,medium size,fair,disasters off,A&E start

  year 1-5

Lenn and Rolanna worked together clearing land and building during the summer.a plymouth house was quickly build so they didn't freeze.a matching barn would give plenty of storage space. a wood cutter and mini toolshed would keep them supplied.in sept, they searched for herbs and foodthey would pick up firewood whenever they passed by any.in winter Lenn makes tools and coats, while Rolanna contiues to search for food and cut trees.in Jan.,their daughter Aldonita is born.

by spring there is over 450 venison and the pile is half full.they  work together to clear a path to the river.logs are added to the pile, and a wider area of food and herbs is gathered.before snowfell, the pile and cart had a cover.with the iron ore, more tools would be made during the winter.

by year 3,there is over 1400 food and plenty of supplies.since i am not sure if any hunter will hunt the pigs or chickens, they will build the nordic hunter.they are so well-stocked by fall, they decide to add the mini townhall.some pine items do not clear with the clear food  tools.overall more food is being found since the upgrade.

in december of year 4,their son Laver was born.after checking different designs, they did extend the house.the split didn't work. they refused it.

YEAR 6-10

in may of year 7, 2 nomads arrived.though a brdige was already being built,it was not needed. this pair traveled from the east.Caes amd Joellee will  use the add on house.Lenn and Rolanna are glad for some companions.Damara was born in june and Alley in feb.
trying to nuture the ground, they clear trees along the river road.hopefully, more roots and fiddleheads will grow with less shade.this does make it easier to see to spot clear items.as well as to see how quick the regrowth will be.now and then they catch otters and beavers.the trees do fow quickly here and provide enough logs without going deeper into the forest.the river carries firewood down to us and there is a lot of ducks and beavers in the lake to the west.
Lenn built a wood shed and moved the woodchopper.this would give the pile more space for logs and stone. stone can then be cleared from the hunting area.

YEAR 10-12

that was weird. after playing with KIDD,yesterday,i got a very dark cloud just as the game loaded.hope it isn't a omen or sign.
the bannies ran across the bridge to explore in  the spring.they collect food, herbs, and firewood as they walk around a bit.good thing there are a lot of tall trees over there to hide under. it has been a rainy year. the north wind blows trees down near their homes.
during the winter,a mini gatherer is set up near the hunting hut. soon Alonita, will be old enough to collect food from the forest by herself.
the following spring,Joelee extends the road west.the rest clear trees across the bridge.

after the cloud of DOOM,swept thru the land,2 more nomads arrived. Newell and Makay built a log cabin and took to the forest.we had cut enough trees that we did need a forestor to replant some.pine trees would be planted and a new storage barn for the pine items and logs. they will need to upgrade the gathering hut in a few years to collect the pine items.
somehow they have 2 types of eggs. ducks eggs and pheasant from the RK mod i guess.or are they geese from the dark cloud that rolled thru.some they are reluctant to clear.there is plenty of berries and some onions.they know the beavers hide in their lodges during the winter and they are easier to catch then.now and then, they trap otters and rabbits.just around the space they cleared, they find over 1000 food.

Aldonita's house was built by april of yr 12.she quickly planted some flowers and a lilac bush.there was enough pelts and furs put away for her to start making better coats. a fur tailor shop was built.to keep her safe, her parents cleared along the west along the west road.she puts out 22 coats.
by sept, over 550 food was gathered across the bridge.another 500 was fathered near the village.as venison drops below 900,a hunter works at the nordic hut.he is able to hunt pheasants and bison.
they now have 14 bannies.three male children and 2 nomads added to the population.

YEAR 13-15

in spring, the bannies work together to clear rocks from the forest. there is all kinds of ores and stones.the rest of summer, they clear "almost all" and then clear "fodder" from the  south flood plain.this will be a good test to see what is missed.there is eggs, firewood, food, some trees, and flowers left.most food cleared with the "apple" clear food tool.there was chanterelles and muskrats to spot clear.even the nordic hunter finds furs to keep Aldonita busy.

After the gathering upgrade,2 nomads arrive.Max and his indian wife he called IndianneMARY built an indian hut and trapped squirrels, foxes, and beavers.they were happy to sleep under the barn's extended roof while they built the hut.it would get them out of the rain.while Max trapped,Mary took over planting trees.
the pine forest ws producing better with the upgraded gathering hut.there was chanterelles, eggs, game,  plus flax, pine materials, and textiles.by jan,the trapper and pine gatherer had collected 500 food and 80 textiles.Laver the laborer claimed he had learned to trap boars from IndianneMary.noone else could account for the boar meat now in storage.the only other explanation was the nordic hunter counting boar as venison til he stored it.

the flax can be spun into twine or used to make linen.the pine can be made into charcoal or pitch.to make turpentine, they would need iron for the still.at the annual meeting, they decide to build a small trading post and stock it with clothing.there is enough game around that should be able to keep the tailors supplied.a mini trading post and a dock storage barn are built along the river.they begin to stock it with 100 leather coats and 20 copper ore.

YEAR 16-17

the bannies head north of the forest to clear a few piles.there is plenty of ore rocks but not stone.the regrowth or trees and firewood is sufficient.the bannies are good at using thatch to stretch the firewood.
for some reason these bannies liked the dock storage and wanted to move most of the food to it. there was space in the plantation barn.more storage shed were built to keep the village supplied.

a merchant finally stopped by while the bannies were gathering food in the fall.he brought red dairy cows and offered a good price for the leather coats.a worker was sent to restock the trading post and tend to the cows while a pasture was cleared.processing pine and flax would have to wait.
by the time the fence was built,2 more new nomads arrived.there was a debate rather to send more coats to the trading post since the leather had paid so well or process the flax and pine.the newcomers decided to build a wood house and would keep the trading post stocked.Aldonita would make fur coats for use and pelt coats to trade.
a house was built near the pasture for Damara.she would tend to the cows.once food was gathered in the fall, the bannies added a pine loom to make linen from the flax.
now that they had some trade goods being produced,a school would be built. it was getting harder to keep track of the children. the school would keep them occupied so they didn't waunder off.the women were worried the children would fall in and be swept away by the spring floods.the men had chased enough snakes. even IndianneMary was tired of anwering what kind of bug or animal this or that was.

It seems you're not a business man @brads3. Why sell the cheap pelt coats and keep the expensive leather and fur coats?
Title: Re: SUPER TEST: Edgeside
Post by: brads3 on April 08, 2018, 08:13:51 AM
the fur coats keep them warmer and should last longer.the leather trades high enough to get seeds with.there is more pelts than fur collected so there is more of those coats to use or trade.they have been stockpiling linen for later.

As far as I know, the game can't allow that any clothing last longer than another. I don't remember how Necora labelled the pelt clothes, but there are only 3 categories of clothes, no matter the price; no clothes (rags), fair clothes (hide coats, wool coats, most coats I know from cotton and linen) and warm coats (vanilla warm coats, Nordic wool coats, raindeer parkas, fur coats) Each category the same use no matter the price.

YEAR 18-20

with everyone busy, there was time to clean up around the village and extend roads.a holding pen was cleared to rest livestock for any merchants traveling by.some benches and a campfire ring were set there also.

Casandy the seed merchant brought cherry seeds.the villagers have plenty of fruit. they order vegetable and grain seeds. he is quite lost when they ask about peppers or squash.when he tried offering coconuts and bananas, some children  pushed him into a snow bank. "do you think it will gow there?" stranger yet,he was eating a sweet potato but didn't know what a regular potato was. hopefully before he returns,he does find some villages with more greenhouses to learn about more crops. he couldn't be more lost this far north,  unles she was wearing a grass skirt.

the bannies collected so much food the limit had to be raised.between berries and selective spot clearing of fiddleheads and traps, there wouyld be a better variety  going into the new year.the mod conflicts concerning the food gathering does have an oops. the pine gatherer only collects 1 food type. he never finds roots, berries, mushrooms,or fiddleheads even.

Aldonita tried to move Alley in with her.he didn't like the idea but did like the house.as such he sent her to live with her brother and took over teaching the other children.she told him if he wanted the house then he had to do all the sewing too.now he is busy making clothes.in some cultures turing 18 is celebrated. here it brings chaos.

population now 27,in 8 houses, only start pair are educated.that hasn't been a problem.there is enough food and supplies.the firewood chopper has kept up, even though i tried to keep his limit to 10 per house.that has kept them using some thatch.the blacksmith has tools stashed and also works at making leather coats.there is rough tools since stone is lacking compared to the ores.

YEAR 20-22

There was gossip in the spring as Aldonita was pregnant. some thought it had to be the merchant.when she gave birth to a baby boy in may, they all knew it had to be one of the other men.they all said it must have been during a late summer rainstorm.
the women didn't want her teaching any other children,so she took over at the loom.
you know the old saying" if i am going to be blamed,i may as well do it"? well before the child was 2,Aldonita had a baby girl.the gossip did become much quieter as the women were cautious about blaming their husbands.
by year 21,there was over 700 of pine boughs and of resin both.a pitch kiln was needed. it would make pitch part of the summer and charcoal during winter.

a meeting was called since the seed merchant had not returned in over 2yrs.there was more pine items than the kiln could use each year.the main need was grain or seed to grow grain and vegetables.since there was a lot of venison stored, the hunter was shut down. the trapper and pasture would be give enough protein.the forester would stop planting pine trees.the wood cutter would double the firewood count.a 2nd trading post will be built.Dustavus will stock both.it can ship linen, fur and leather coats, and excess pine materials.
they debated what type of trading post to constuct.a small seed trading post might have issues stocking the new items.a general trader might bring grain and bread as well as seed.the dock trader could handle heavier items easier.with extra workers the construction wil go faster and still leave time to gather food, firewood, and find furs and pelts.

while the building materials were being moved,a nomad family arrived.while the builder worked on their wood house, the 3 nomads helped gather food and firewood.a pine blacksmith was added to make bough tools.since winter came before their house was finished,Alley moved in with Damara.this gave the new family,Aldonitas original house.
though there was a drop of venison, there was a better variety in the houses.the slight food drop should mean they are healthier.even with the extra storage space most food is stored near the trading posts.

YEAR 23-24

since more grass is needed for the wood house, the laborers head across the bridge to clear.they hate to cut the grass if it will mean less food.they also clear grass near the lake but leave the trees.to help with the food issue,a vanilla pine gatherer is set up in the forest.hopefully,he will be collect berry and roots.it would find over 450 food.a mix of chanterelles, berries, roots, onions, and mushrooms.

it was good that they had started to gather food early, snow came in sept.with it so did a case of the mumps.a would help quarantine the ill.hopefully, the new cemetary will not be needed.the outbreak spread quickly.before the hospital tent was finished, more than 12 bannies had been infected.several including the builder had recovered already.it took til alomst spring for everyone to feel better.since they were low on stone, they planted dogwoods on each corner of the cemetary to mark it.

they did have a dilema.they would need more stone.the snall quarry required iron.to dig deeper concerned them after the disease they had had. the women didn't think a deep mine would be safe.to process iron required iron. to dig a Ds mine ment they needed better tools. the merchants had not brought iron but had either fruits for orchards or more livestock or mixed items they didn't need.they ran around to search for stone but found very few.they finally convinced the women of a tiny iron mine. they would go dig enough iron for the quarry.the women agreed as long as they all went to keep each other safe.so all 3 laborers would work at digging the iron.if the women weren't paying attention, they would bring in  a little extra iron for other projects.
since this left nobody free, the other workers would pick up the slack and gather supplies and cut more trees.the miners got only 3 extra iron before the women caught on.Joellee growled at them so badly,Ceasantoine ran to hide at the hunters hut.the rest took to gathering food and firewood until the women calmed down.

Dusta finally arrived with some seeds.he had bean, wheat, pea, cotton, and sugar beet seeds.he didn't want the pine goods.there was enough coats and linen for the bean and wheat seed.more orders were placed for vegetable seeds.he took no order for corn seed.
there was room for 2 9x10 fields.the stone cutters would work til spring and then plant beans and wheat.
their 1st graduate worked at making tools and switched to cutting wood.she was only 14, but had enough of being stuck inside the school.she will need a house next spring.

YEAR 25-26

Esmeralyn had studied hard to be a botanist.now that she had graduated, she decided to work the flood plain.she had plans to plant grass and see how much food would grow with it.a thatch hut was constructed.her mother was worried about the flooding so a raised house had to be erected to keep her daughter safe.of course for a botanist with a green thumb, the roof had to be green.then under the house,Esmera would setup a gathering area and some storage.she cleared land for the new grass all winter.

the stone cutters worked all winter and got 39 stones.they would return to the fields in spring.there was over 400 wheat and 400 beans last year.they were surprised the wheat grew faster than the beans here.
the pine gatherer was still collecting faster than things were used.since they were low on logs,Newell switched over to being a forester for the year.the cheese maker ran out of milk.as he stopped working, the teacher came down with the mumps.Damara went to help, becoming the medic.luckily the disease was cleared up before the late summer rain storms.

in may, help arrived. 2 new nomads.they cut trees and built a plymouth house.
they continued to cut trees and gather firewood, food, and to replenish the herbs.
Esmera collected over 500 food from june to late oct.mostly blueberries that the grew along the edge of the river.those had been picked many times over the years.she also got onions, fiddleheads, roots, and mushrooms.this with the pine vanilla cache.combined with the new laborers more food was being produced than used again.

i do have to report an issue. the covered piles place without clearing the ground.when they did that before it ment they didn't work.i deleted it and made a pile instead.all pile mods should be disabled, so it must be a different conflict.

YEAR 27-29

THERE was some graduates over the winter.Ther is staying with his parents, his mom is 60.he took over the woodcutter.Ally moved in the nice wooden house with Amellamae.for now he is a laborer.sure would like to use these graduates wisely.
the 1st worked out to improve food.i would rather Ther somewhere better than cutting wood.my concern is he might move to the meadow.so for now he is stuck.there is future plans beyond the wood house.if i send anyone to the quarry or mine fulltime, most likely they would not be educated.so Ally is stuck as a laborer.

as expected,Ther moved with Esmera to the meadow.he will raise bees for honey.her mother is happy about this. Ther can hunt bears and boars to keep Esmera safe.
3 fields produced 1100 food.the meadow over 500 plus 125 honey before winter.

in spring of year 28,2 markets are built to better orgainze materials.1 will be for be for the excess clothing and tools and the other will be for food.then a vendor will work to keep the barns from being overstocked.to suppply the logs to build with, the laborers help clear trees from the flood maeadow.
in year 29,the 4th field is planted with wheat.another plymouth house is build near the med tent.the regrowth is cleared from the village.
