Also - against all odds -  this mod shows all green, despite being in the community bar...

That is weird...

if you put DSSmallVillageHomes.pkm above DSJettyAndBridge.pkm do you get back the Tent menu icon?

does he have another DS mod loaded??? that goofy icon is normally due to 2 buildings with the same name.if i run the north and forget to turn off the red house mods ,the icons will look like that cause the same house is loading twice.

if you are planing to make a toolbar like "housing" in your "DS toolbar" that will be served too in another part or another mod, then you will need to put that toolbar inside the game/dialog folders along with your DS toolbar icon

and not in the usual MYMODresource.rsc at the root (and UI , UI/Sprite folders)

if you are planing to make use later... it needs to be shared.

( thats what i did with my icons toolbars. i have RKtoolbar but also inside sharing with all other mods, i have RKfood, RKroad, RKresource, RKservices.... RKdecorations and inside that one, i reserved a RKanimal, RKfences.... for later use ^^)

yes @brads3, Paeng does have another DS mod loaded because I can see the icon for the Jetties next to the House & Accommodation button :)

the problem is that I included the 'Tents' folder icon in my DStoolbar in the dialog folder of DSSmallVillageHomes.pkm and not in DSJettyAndBridge.pkm.

This will be added in an update to DS Jetty & Bridge.

Also I forgot to change the resource flag of the canvas resource :(

As it is now, you can only purchase by trade, it will be classed as Textile, which is fine for now, but will eventually become a Fabric.
I am working on the modular Storage & Markets element of DSSV.

Well, something is...  ;D

When I reloaded now, I got a note that "ForestDeep" (Kid) may be "outdated and will not run", with a strange version# too, like 0.00.0 or so... I took it out, and your mod turned red - but of course my save is still looking for ForestDeep...

Hey, it's 3 am... I continue tomorrow, unless you can make sense of the above  :D

Hiya, I have mine listed (top to bottom):
DS Village Homes
DS Jetty & Bridge

I also have via MM, DSSVillage as well, which is lower again.
I don't have any conflicts showing, other than 'the red', ingame it all works.

@Paeng I get that error when the file is too small, it may not have downloaded correctly, try the download again and see what happens.  It took me 4 hours to get 1 file the other week, some can be wonky :)

re Kid's file, not the missing icon :D

Not sure the issue with Forest Deep, though it sounds like it didn't upload correctly?

I will look over both of my uploaded mods for something amiss, and redo the DStoolbar.

Expect an update to this mod and DS Jetty & Bridge soon. Hopefully they will be save-game compatible.

I have had the same download problem from a few websites. They seem to download quite slowly for me compared to other sites, I know part of that is my own  internet connection (because the cables in the street need to be replaced) but part of it comes from the connection to the website. This site and the Black Liquid site often cause me these problems.
But that isn't the biggest problem, the real problem is that the download says it's complete when it's really a few kilobytes (or sometimes even megabytes) short of the proper size. I don't know if this is specifically a problem with using Chrome as a web-browser or if it's specifically a Windows OS problem but it's a real pain in the rear - which is why I suggest checking the file size after downloading to people having these problems.

@Discrepancy you know, I was originally going to wait until you had all the DSSV content available before updating (from DSSV Beta2). I was really keen to use the new tents you've added because I have tendency to use tents and other "rough" shelters whenever I start a new town and then I read your FAQ for the house section and found it's compatible with other versions of DSSV! Great stuff!

As for listing the file size, yes please! It's very handy to know because I have had a few instances where the download said it was complete (according to Chrome/Windows/whoever-else-controls-such-things) only to find it won't work in game because it was smaller than it should be but because I didn't think to check the expected download size, I couldn't tell if it was the right size or not without downloading it again! :(

EDIT: just a quick note to say, when the files have been zipped, I've normally found that my unzip programme (I use WinRAR) will tell me that the archive is broken or missing something so I know straight away that the download was botched some how. When they've been uploaded to Mega or Google Drive etc. etc. there's usually plenty of time to see the file size if I actually bother to read the page when I begin the download!

Yeah, that's what threw me - I expect a proper "unexpected end of file" error message... but I guess that only archivers (7zip, winrar etc.) provide that...  :(

Oh well, like the saying goes - "Computers make everything easier, it just takes a bit longer!"

Everything works - though load order still seems to be important? Homes must be above Jettys?

I just want to make sure before starting a new town... (see attached)

Okay :)

well, just to clarify: The full fixes for the toolbar sprite images to show up will only work with all the mods the same, or with the newest on top.
I hadn't pre-planned my toolbar layout a great deal prior to releasing the jetties, and such this is what is causing the issues.
The changes to the fish resource files in DS Bridge & Jetty were necessary and in hindsight I should have already had them changed the release prior. I hesitantly say they are save-game-breaking, but you could be the first to try  ;)

@Paeng I can understand your problem with the internet, Australia is still kinda backward as well, my area has to wait at least another three years before broadband access will be available here  :'( so you have my sympathy  :)

But anyway...
@Discrepancy an interesting sidenote, I downloaded the DS Village Storage and set up all the DS Village components for my new game start and I also enabled all three in a saved game (started only a few hours ago and I had previously enabled the first two DS Village components). No problems with the three parts in game the saved game which still had the DSSV 2 Beta active in it.

However, I made the mistake of trying to disable the DSSV 2 Beta after adding the DS Village Storage, forgetting that I had constructed some DS Village tents from the new mods. Apparently the game doesn't want to remove DSSV even though the buildings were from DS Village Homes. I don't believe this is any fault of the mods, they share resources after all but I thought it was an interesting bit of info that might have some use to you.

Tends from Reindeer hides sounds cool!  ;D

I tried your tends and they look really great. Sometimes my people cannot carry stuff in and it hangs on their little hands then. The cap of 300 seems to be too low.  And I guess the crash is caused by the nonexistent footprint which the game wants to overlay with damage texture. At least it crashes in this moment when the tend burned down.

Hello, @Discrepancy!

I have tested this new mod (http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=1643.0) and found out that your beautiful houses don't use thatch as fuel - kid1293 said that it is because you "use 'WoodFuel' to stop them from using coal". I understand why you and many players don't want houses to use coal, but maybe you will be so kind to make a 'fuel'-using version, please? This new mod is very promising and beautiful too.
Title: Re: DS Small Village: Homes v1.2 (Banished Beta 1.0.7)
Post by: brads3 on April 16, 2017, 06:04:58 PM
i don't think the problem is with the houses. it is with the thatch. with the new tags and adding a new material, none of the modded houses will use it.i would think we need a bundler shed to bundle the thatch transfering it into bundled firewood.considering how fast dry grass would burn compared to actual firewood, bundles to me make the most sence. x amount of thatch to make 1 bundle.this helps use up the thatch so it doesn't over fill storage as well.

brads3, Kid's houses use thatch. But @Bartender already mentioned that he may set 'woodfuel' flag to thatch. Maybe he will like your idea more. I'll be ok with any decision :)

I just think that some players like to have coal not used by houses, that is why I suggested a separate version. But for me it's not a problem.

Don't do that. You have once decided it would be fine with only woodfuel to heat the house.
It is in line with using coal for production.

It is much better if @Bartender changes his thatch to woodfuel. Which it is in real life.
I follow this discussion to see if he changes flags. When Luke releases 1.0.7
I will do a workover on all my mods and make houses use woodfuel.

Not quite no time. The first mod Discrepancy ever made was just one of these houses. And then it grew from there.

I do love this series though. Snug little houses.

@Discrepancy I'm wondering if it might have been simpler for the new big fat townhouse to just have one version and have the balcony bit as an add-on. Might be a way for you to approach future building design.

Great screenshot @kid1293 :)

Unfortunately I'm going to have to update the homes again...

While updating the storage mod, I was adjusting the meshes and found why my roofs could never be purely white in this set. I had made all face smooth on the model, this creates the weird glowing look with some of the roofs and also the dark patchy shadows cast on the buildings.
So I now need to go back through all the models and adjust this, flatten all faces then only smooth the roofs. With altered AO the roofs will then be mostly white in winter to match the storage:

sorry for so many updates.

I like the roof of from the houses in winter better. I'm not sure, that so much snow will stay on such a steep roof anyway. But it doesn't matter, you are right; houses and stores should look the same and if you prefere the full-white roof; it's OK.

I'm with @Nilla on this - I like the roof snow of the houses, but - these are yours, and I speed through Winter anyway, so I'll be happy with either :D

I was wondering if perhaps the small houses could have a little addon?  A matching 2x2 extension, or 1x2 extension?
Ideally I'm looking for a small 2x2 house to tuck into a couple of nooks I end up with, where the 2x3 is too deep for what I want, and I know some don't like stand alone houses that small, so perhaps a little addon, a 'sun room' if you will?

The screenshot is just some ideas, I like the look of the middle one, but that could just be me :D

I think the amount of snow on the roofs should definitely match or it would look strange with houses and storages mixed in together.  I like the full snowy white roofs.  :)

A sweet mod I've played it often along with many others of yours. Will these marry happily with KIDS mods? Now that would make me super happy.

Kid's mods are safe to use with any mod out there.

Just to go further with what Gatherer said, I also use a lot of Kid's mods and Discrepancy's mods together and I also use a lot of Red Ketchup's mods with them. They generally work together without any problem.
You might have to move around your load order a bit but other than that I've not encountered any serious problems.
