Is there a dedicated thread for all of Kid's mods, like what EB did for theirs, or am I overlooking something?

There is a thread under Mod Garage/Mod Discussions 107  On page 4, there is a thread  Overview 1.0.7 Mods which has a listing of mods my various modders.  It does not have the latest mods added but list all mods up to that date.  Sorry, don't know how to post a link to that thread.

you can scroll through the download section but no there is not a complete list.KID has made many and some with different styles.if you are looing for something specific please ask.some older mods are good and do still work but are very good at hiding.

Some Old Mods and Sources 1

Created to save some of my old mods and to give inspiration for modding.

My trusty Garden Shed. A small gardener to make your town more green.

Beef Tomatoes! I don't know what to do with them. Maybe you do?

I put it here too, to include the source.

Nomad sign. Just a welcome sign that brings nomads every year. 100-50-20-10-5-2 % of population.
edit - I have added a single jetty piece to build quickly over streams to rescue stranded nomads.

Created to save some of my old mods and to give inspiration for modding.

Black/White Cattle. Just a simple retexture of vanilla cow. Now they give milk too.

Birch Bark Canoe. Found as modder's resource for game Morrowind.

Shroom. Found as edited modder's resource for game Morrowind. Not vanilla files!

Tiny Smoke. Tired of billowing clouds from every chimney? Try this.

Mr @kid1293 , can you compile all of your mods into one? I mean, I must choose one between house boat, fish pond, windmill, etc. I love windmill, but I like to try your other mods, too. Please :(

I will not make one big mod of all my mods or even a part of my mods.
There will always be people who want another mix and then I have to do it again.
Not to talk about being compatible with every other big mod.  :(

Sorry, maybe I am lazy but I feel I have given as much freedom as I possibly can. :)

but why you dont use them all ?
dont tell me you still believe in 2018 that if a mod turn red in the mod window it is NOT compatible ??


red colored only mean they "share the same data" and "share the same items"


lets get an example, @okkisafire .

i do a mod that add a new crop : Cotton
so your mod allow you to buy a new seed, plant it in a crop and at fall, you get a resource called "cotton"

now i do another mod that add a weaver. it will take your cotton and make cloths with it.
I am obligated to put the exact same data called "cotton" inside so the weaver is able to take that resource called "cotton" and make cloths with it. and you get a new resource called " Cloth"
BUT they both have the exact same data named "cotton" they both becomes "red colored". But they are 100% compatible ! they are red but they are meant to work together !!

now i do a 3rd mod to take a resource called " cloth" and i want to add a tailor which will take that "cloth" and will make a new resource called "Fancy Dress".
AGAIN, they both becomes "red colored" because they both have again the same data : a resouce called "cloth". But again they are 100% compatible ! they are "red colored" but they are meant to work together !!!


as you can see, "red colored" doesnt mean they are not compatible ! it means they share data between them, and since they have the exact same data inside both, only 1 copy will be taken, the first one the game saw : the first copy of the cotton it saw, and the first copy of the "cloth" it saw in your mod list.
thats all

and who care ? they are the exact same copy of the same files : same files that brings "cotton" in your game. the same files that brings "cloth" in your game.



Edit: this the same reason your megamod part 1 turns red colored with your megamod part 2 , and turns red colored with your megamod part 3 : they all share the same data between them so something in part 1 can make and something in part 2 can take that new thing and make something it will, and your part 3 can take that something and do again something else !! They ALL need to have the same new resources so they can do something with it :)
they are not "red colored NON_compatible !! they are meant to work together :).

You can use all of Kid's mods at the same time.   I do, and there is no problem.  Maybe it is as RedKetchup said that you thought if the mod listing turned red, that is meant you can't use them together.  But as RedKetchup explained, that is not true.  I know the mod list details say there is or might be a conflict, but it is not the case. So go crazy adding all the mods you like!  ;D

You have to place the mods in a certain order, but, make sure they're 1.0.7 compatible.

I just don't get it. Even that I removed all the mods, it kept crash. I have no idea but to reinstall my Banished.

step 1> what bannished version do you have? there have been many updates over the years.
step 2> clear the registry.some mods are known to cause issues even after being completely removed from the windata folder.if you test a lot of mods, doing this will help speed the game load time also.
step 3> once you get the vanilla game to play again, add 1 mod. enable the mod,let the game reload itself. then exit completely and restart the game.this step is what gets missed the most. we players get anxious and think we reloaded,since it takes a few minutes to reload when  we add the mod.easy to forget. let the game reload when you enable the mod, and then completely exit and reload entirely. now run the game.

once you know it will play,you can add other mods. if you pass step 3, and have issues come let us know.

It might be easier than that.

If you make changes by the mods from one game to another you always get a crash when you start a new game or load or whatever you make. There are a few different ways to handle this. When I make changes, I do this:

start a new map
set the mods I want in the order I want them
make a save
leave Banished
start Banished again
Now the mods you chose are set from the start and no more crashes.

Actually, yes  :( after I did some experiences with enable together some "red mods", it crashed and I reload Banished several times. I left it for tomorrow (which means I shut down my computer) and tried it again for several days, but it no work.

Well, I copied it from my friend, actually. I don't know where she got it. But I never been asked for registry eventhough my computer is always connected to the internet. I haven't checked it yet, not before I get home

You can get the game at GOG (https://www.gog.com/game/banished) for $19.99 and own a legal copy of the game.

Yeah sure, just yesterday I've been thinking that I'm gonna buy the game, so much mess by playing the version from my friend. I just addicted to this game after all and I think there is so much things that I still don't know and need to be explore (a never ending one it seems) about this game. Maybe that is the reason why I can't use Mega Mods! After Mr Brads3 questioning me, I wonder and asked my friend where she got the game. She told me that she got it from her friend which in turn downloaded it from GOG. Lol! Such a long line. But her friend insisted that the game is genuine because it's from GOG. Save that I don't receive any registration, it still puzzled me whether my game version is really genuine.

But now, thanks to Mr @brads3 , yesterday I was able to use some of Mr Kid's mods without crashed.

Ps: the game is surely cheap. About $19 on Steam, and it is discounted for my country (only about IDK 135000 or around $10). My game version is 1.06 unfortunately, that is explained why I can't use some of 1.07's mods.

Games from Steam can have problems but many of those problems have been solved now. The real problem is that some people keep telling everyone about issues from the past as though those issues are still a big problem today when the truth is that they are not a problem today.
My copy of Banished is from Steam and I have over 1100 hours racked up now and that was using mods all the time.
At one time I had about 160 mods installed and active.

I agree that GOG is a better game seller than Steam and I use GOG, GamersGate and Steam to buy games. I had problems with Steam in the past but those problems have been fixed many years ago. Telling people that Steam is the cause of their problems with Banished is bad information and completely ignorant of reality.

Hello KID!!!
I'm currently rocking my banished using your Tiny Separate v1.6 and Animal Shed SA 2 (I love wool :D) but somehow I get all these new items in the general view like luxuries crafted items forged items and so on. Also, the coal its now called mineral and I cant see how much I produce on the town hall anymore.
I like to have the game values and resources as much "vanilla" I can, but I love to add new balanced buildings, like the tiny compilation you made, it's balanced and beautiful. But I don't know why I get all this new stuff. Also, there's this new "Rose hips" type of food with the icon really big :P and it makes menus where its broadcasted look funny.
Id love to use this new building without the added materials and stuff :(

I use the files we all use for adding new flags to the game.
It was someone's idea having coal as mineral. It is to make it possible
to have other products from mines under one flag. Iron ore, copper ore...
I haven't thought about it. I am so used to it by now.

About Rose Hips - I have added resources from New Flora.
It is to be able to collect New Flora stuff with my gatherer.
But big icon? I haven't seen it. Can you post a picture?

Yes, I understand your frustration. You get a lot of changes to vanilla game
by just adding a few mods.

But it is to stay compatible if you run the game with even more mods.
If you have new products I will be able to display them in my town hall too.

I understand your reluctance to use mods that alter basic game features like, but you are missing out on some wonderful content which has been carefully created to be in harmony with the games vanilla features. Most mods you will find here are discussed and tested before they are published, so you get very few who are unbalanced.

You must also consider that Banished is a finished game, the only new content comes from mods. The way the mod kit works limits greatly what can be done, so it is nearly impossible to create things that alter the basics of the game, (frustrating for modders, but in your case a good thing). One of the great things is that the modding community is very open, sharing code, agreeing on what is what, so there is almost complete compatibility across the work of many creators.

If you still want only vanilla goods, then you can use many mods that are only buildings, or decorative in nature, all you have to do is read carefully the descriptions to see exactly what each mod adds. So many wonderful buildings can be found.

I strongly encourage you to try as many mods as you want, my current list is well above 100, including almost all of Kid's mods. You should also consider using New Flora, its worth considering since it adds interesting possibilities.

Finally, if you find resources that don't fit you can always sell them, at a loss if balance still concerns you.

The trading post list all the resources that are available in your village, you should look in your town hall to see if you have any in storage, in markets, or houses, (different tabs). You can also look at your houses or storage/markets to see what you have in your inventory. As for rose hips they are created by the mod new flora, and can be eaten, (it is considered as fruit). You must have collected them when you cleared land and your villagers have taken them home to eat. It is something that can easily be missed when using a new mod. Kid's gather has been modded to use new flora resources so your gather is also collecting them, look there to see how much you get each year.

@kid1293 :)I noticed when testing RK Editor Choice Beta11 - "Kid Friendly Neighborhood"v 2 -Butcher does not make SAUSAGES -there is a mistake - the game hangs -  you can check this mod ?
If I add the mod "Kid Tangerine Center - there is also a butcher - it produces - Make Sausages and it's OK - these two mod work together.
Mod "Friendly Neighborhood" - butcher MAKE SAUSAGES - only the name has no picture. I am sending images with this problem ?

@ Kid1293 :)Please correct - FRIENDLY BUTCHER - MAKE SAUSAGES - there is an error - the game hangs. Butcher gets meat - the moment he produces SAUSAGES - there is an error. As you can see in this picture is only the words Make Sausages no color picture and I think that there is no code - the - it does not affect mod @ RedKetchup-EditorChoise - does not have sausages. I really like playing with all of your mods - that's why maybe nobody noticed it - Kid Friendly Neigborhood - please test it - unfortunately I do not know about technical matters - I wrote how I could explain this problem to you - it the same with v1i v2? I have loaded ALL my mods that have a butcher.
They produce sausages and they have icons.


edit - The only help is to load ONLY Friendly Neighborhood and see if it works.
Then add mods one by one and test until you find which mod is problem.

I love the Chop-chop and water pump!  The Chop-chop is great when you need just a little bit of lumber for mods that require them, but are not at the point of building up a larger lumber facility, such as you wonderful and beautiful windmill lumber/firewood combination.

Can You do a little favor if you can. The CC site has a small building and a fix for this mods. (Fish Farm Edit v2) Can you changed in your fish farm name, so you can use both buildings in the game in a purely fishing small town. If you don't mind. :(

@tuggistar unless the mod description say otherwise, they will all catch "fish".  Tom Sawyer's Fly Fishing catches trout and dock sets have buildings that catch other seafoods, but the fishing places catch just the same fish.  :)

Necora has the Maritimes collection-Nova Scotia Inshore Fisheries, Maritimes collection-Prince Edward Island Shore Fisheries.
KID1293 also has some buildings with seafood, its fish farm conflicts with another fish farm with the same name.
I meant not only fish. CC and discrepancy also have buildings with seafood. :)

It is an adaption of the Crop Disease, colored white and smaller. Placed on an invisible square.
The square is maybe hard to find. You must click it to remove the mist.

Small unique, ghosted forest buildings. Maybe a cheat :)

Kid - Vegetable Garden V1.6

The packed file contains

Vegetable Garden - Grow 'generic' vegetables and sort them to get several vanilla vegetables.
Get the seeds from a trader. A sorting table and storage shed are included.

Vegetable Garden Start - Vegetables included as starting crop on Easy and Medium.

Don't use Vegetable Garden and Vegetable Garden Start at the same time!

V1.6 - I replaced texture 2 and 3 from V1.5 with vanilla wood and stone textures.
@Abandoned  pointed out that they will be more useful. :)

@banneished - I don't recommend activating all at once.

First - it can be a problem with the menu. Too many icons.
If you experience a crash when clicking something on my menu
that can be the reason. I have attached a file 'ShorterToolbar.pkm',
you can use it to avoid that problem.

Second - Not all mods can be activated together. Some have start
conditions that change basic stuff like terrain or weather...
Of those, you can only use one.

Third - I think it is most important to make a selection of mods
that fits well together. It is more fun and opens up for a different
play style the next time you start a map.

I have a question, kid - your mods are .rar files, and the other downloads I've gotten are .pkm... my game doesn't seem to "see" the .rar files in WinData, and I don't know how to get them on my mod list... any ideas?

rar files need to b opened much like zip files before the game can read them.7zip can do these files and there are ways to do them via
oinline sites or tools also.

@CathyM  I use a program called winrar.  It integrates seamlessly with Windows 10.  You can extract files to your desktop or anywhere else you please.  I tend to extract banished mods to my backup hard drive, then move them to the game's windata folder when I want to use them.

The choice, and colour range, is very impressive. What is just as good are the angles and corners that can be created. I have not taken full advantage of that ability to build a section or a block into a shape but I do realise it's potential. The house with a gateway underneath is most impressive.

Meanwhile, I found it hard to find myself even after writing it yesterday, but I only have a short line next to the window frame, not like this one.
Coincidentally I found it when it was getting lost with the mouse and the text appeared to remove it. Perhaps some other mode influences its appearance, or the Hungarian language mode may have deformed the panel window. The point is, it works perfectly that way! :)

Beef Tomatoes! I don't know what to do with them. Maybe you do?
Similar tomatoes grow here - they are HUGE, meaty but juicy and delicious. In-game, they'd be worth at least 2 food each, should be great for trading as they are heavy. Something of a delicacy grown by determined individuals :) and never found in supermarkets or even in specialised fruit and veg shops/stall fronts. You may be lucky enough to pick some up at a country market. I had a friend who grew them, much more than a hand full. Also known by another name but *groan* can't remember what. They make cherry tomatoes look like pixie food ;)

Just remembered - we call them - Ox Heart tomatoes - size and colour :)

this is my first post as it is mandatory to do so. I am playing Banished since several years for uncountable hours after I discovered mods. Its still so phantastic and I thank all modders for all these hours of fun!
I use the steam version and try to find out now what is more possible over this forum.

Having all, all the time is like living in a candy store. (Or a tavern if you prefer)
BTW. Not all of my mods look good together.

Hi everyone,

Can someone please explain to me how to use the Garden Workplace mod?  In game it looks like it places a small building, but in the pictures it is a building plus crop field.  Do I have to place the crop field separately?  Am I missing something?

Sunna, maybe you mean Kid's Vegetable Garden at http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=153.  I don't know how that works.  It's an old mod.  For a new very good garden with a few items at once, you might like Kid's Farmyard at http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=589.  With the Farmyard, you just put it down, and then after it is built, add a worker.

@ sunna, The mod is called Vegetable Garden.  You must buy vegetable seeds from the riverboat trader and plant them like a regular crop field.  The vegetables are taken to the garden shed and from there they are taken to the garden workplace where they are sorted into different vegetables like beans which can then be eaten by the bannies.

I talked with Abandoned about a Swamp Herbalist and she thought it would be better
to use the Workplace herbalist and make a new Swamp Doctor.
I can see the need if you run with disasters on.

So, this is a 5x4 Swamp Clinic for 14 patients.

I made it rather neutral. Like a place for meeting and meditation.

There will be an update to Swamp Thing later. I have to add these new buildings (maybe)
to the Swamp Houses mod too.

The SwampClinic may I suggest A voodoo witch doctor or some such thing. Perhaps a building similar to the tree stump from Forest Deep (Never mind it already looks fine besides Swamp Things houses). Or another swamp pond but with staffs and shrunken head type things.

my thinking is we need to reinvent the churches to banieshed. a few have been done that are less churchy and more of a meeting type place for them to hang out and be happy.in the case of your swmap something along those lines might be better suited.

not saying to redo your hard work at all. thinking more for future ideas. in banished a church doesn't have to be religeous. we can think outside the box so to speak as long as it adds happiness.    maybe a park that has a caretaker/cleric and adds happiness.

ever see the old emporium market building? it worked as a market but looked like a hunting lodge.something similar would work for the forest or meadow workers.

yes, unless you are using mods that cause unhappiness, happiness buildings and workers are unnecessary and useless.  None of Kid's mods cause unhappiness.   He did however make a KW HappySquare for those needing happiness, just add deco flowers or bench for happy park.  A varied and balanced diet works best.  Building wells and markets also helps I believe.

that would lead to a totally different path for you,Abandoned. the setup i have now works except the crowding of churches causes a slowdown of the bannies.they don't show unhappy but they act it. hence the need for churches that aren't churchy looking but do require cleric workers.

have you tried the DS industry mod? that with TOM's North would give you some ideas as to how the happiness works.

am really grateful to KID for the education patch. that has helped the Settlement series flow and move along quite well. subtle little mod but a huge improvement.

which way do you plan to go or are you confusing yourself? i figured you would stay away from the unhappiness or happy system. what makes the system challenging is when you or I,since it is me that does it, add and mix mods. it changes the way the bannies react and what the player sees. difficult to tell what is going on til it causes issues. challenging can be fun thou.

we need DS to come back. then he can give us the happiness system as a patch to work above the other mods.as for KID turning the happiness on or unhappiness on,it would be helpful to have the radiuses to see where the building affects are.many of his buildings still have some affects with them but no circles show.

the mod setup i have now is working well. it really doesn't make the game too difficult. took a while to figure out 1 glitch. if churches get full then teh bannies go on strike. i had to disable a church til the next was built.i do think there may be more affects that are subtle and hardly noticeable. i do think houses use more firewood with the DS industry mod.

Both buildings are nice! Just was more impressed with the curves and openest of the chapel.
Speaking of curves, while goofing around, I notice the house part of the houseboats have nice lines and curves to them.
A little rework they could be repurposed for any building/ profession.

Pic 2- A test to see if I could sculpt land around an actual houseboat.

In regards to SwanpThing, came across something interesting. Used medium start from Wildlife Start mod. SwampThing did not crash.
However, only about 200 reeds manifested after map generation. This is just an FYI.

If you mean temperature wise, probably! It's been 112-116 F, daily average of 113 F for weeks now. I'm so tired of it. Right now it's 9:30 am and it's already 109 F.  *sighs

doesn't override all mods either.mainly helps like farmers ,hunters,and gatherers. it does help bridge the RKEC and DS IND mods. only issue is work strikes occur if the churches get crowded. disable the churches until another is built.

@MarkAnthony The override uneducated patch is of benefit if you are accepting a lot of uneducated nomads - they will produce as if they were educated in all vanilla production jobs except tailor, blacksmith, and ale maker.  You will need a school to have educated workers in those critical jobs or you may have clothes or tool shortages. Your education % rate will not be accurate. If you have a school and do not take a lot of nomads, the patch is unnecessary.  I tested patch once and found it made the game very easy - storage units were soon filled.  I am trying it again in my next blog story.  Use with caution.

@grizz Yes, you must download each mod individually. I can see what the mod looks like and read all the information about the mod and then decide if it is a mod you want to download and use.  They are worth the effort.  :)

@grizz There is a very nice selection of mods and no particular mod order requires. There are several that have special start conditions which are best to use without any other mods that have start conditions.  Also there are a few mods that are overrides, like trees, that should be high in the mod list, but Kid's mods are very compatible and trouble free.  Enjoy  :)

I lost my old copy of tinysmoke, and would enjoy getting my hands on another one. but the links here are both dead (404 attachment not found) is it available anymore? i tried using no smoke (RK i believe) but found it too unrealistic, banished homes need fire no doubt. I just want to see better, lol, the smoke gets thick.
