The Pilgrim

If you are good with it, I will bump this up to a pinned thread with the other makers lists.

angainor88

I am good with it! Thank you!

brads3

WOW you woke up the great PILGRIM.how'd you do that?  what is new ,where have you been,PILGRIM?

The Pilgrim

Hey guys,
Been trying (and sadly failing) to keep my business above water. So no I am looking for work. Got a few leads and hopeful that I will have at least 2 offers next week.
I'll post an update in the appropriate forum ,so please let's not swamp this thread.

angainor88

Added some charts with various cost etc. to the original post :) Hopefully contains all the necessary info.

I've been away from Banished for a few years and have found myself drawn back into it again.
Was amazed and happy to see more Asian buildings and deco added to the mod list. I've only done a quick (very quick) search of the site so forgive me if any of these questions have already been asked and answered but...

Do you have any plans to make more Japanese items (and Japanese houses in particular)?
Do you have any plans to make other Asian themed items (e.g. Chinese buildings)?

angainor88

I am working on a Japanese houses and storage mod right now :) (pictures here: http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=3588.120)

I don't currently have plans for what to do when I've finished the Japan set, mostly because I still have a lot to do. Also, because with COVID, I can't go to the library to look at reference books. I was lucky I did all my Japan research over the winter. I did a poll somewhere, but I don't remember the other results. I think a country in South America was in second place.

TheOtherMicheal

That set of storehouses is looking very sweet!  :)
Thanks for the reply (considering if I had looked harder I would have found the thread about Japanese buildings in the Suggestions page and you wouldn't need to repeat yourself!)
I think the reason the Japanese buildings appeal so much (for me at least) is because I'm someone who was brought up on Western European architecture, so the Asian buildings are quite exotic - I'm really looking forward to the storehouses and houses you're working on.

Kristahfer

Great mod and the charts are a fantastic addition.

TheOtherMicheal

Your collection of Japanese mods is great and quite comprehensive, we can make full villages now and when combined with the three little Japanese mods that were released years ago, we have quite a bit of variety.
Do you have any plans for more Japanese themed mods? (I'm really enjoying these ones so I'm being greedy and want more!)

I am currently working on a clothing mod, which is a little bit of a challenge, as I can't change the models for male and female citizens. So it'll be a bit "inspired by" traditional clothing.

I also have plans to do a start mod (just to have the rice, tea, etc seeds unlocked at the start), and if I can find some royalty free music, maybe something that adds new music to the game, though I don't know where to start with that one.

I'm also going to upload the mods to Steam and Nexus mods too, when I am done I think.

TheOtherMicheal

I think the Steam community will be really happy with you for that, there seemed to be a big interest some years back in Asian inspired buildings but there weren't enough mods to create entire villages, so people seemed to give up on the idea.
And to go fully into wishful thinking mode, maybe your Japanese mods will inspire some of those modders on Steam to create some Asian buildings  :)

I hope you will take some inspiration from ancient chinese clothing styles as they were more varied.

Though the korean hanbok and japanese kimono were influenced by chinese textiles and clothing originally, the hanbok is more frumpy though cute and the kimono is high-maintenance and restricting (many layers) and is best worn for special occasions whereas chinese clothing was beautiful as in flowy yet also practical for movement.

In truth, there are over 56 different ethnicities and sub-cultures that comprise china's empire and if korea and japan had officially been swallowed up and considered provinces of one nation as china rather than separate independent entities, the diversity and variants of the different ethnicities would have just been considered part of the chinese diaspora but koreans were fiercely independent and japanese were formed from proto-korean (descendants of earlier koreans with some pockets mixed with residual ainu strain) and it's culture along with chinese influence.

Sort of if europe was considered one country instead of italians and french lumped together as if they were exactly the same culture etc. The west is usually only aware of mandarin (central) as in dialect, szechuan and cantonese (southern chinese provinces) sub-cultures of china.

For instance, chinese did not sit or sleep on the floor usually or use metal chopsticks (only koreans use metal chopsticks) and only koreans used ondol flooring but both chinese and japanese use wooden chopsticks but traditionally both koreans and japanese both sat and slept on the floor on cushions etc.  Only koreans eat kimchi, not chinese or japanese etc. Only chinese used woks but not the koreans or japanese etc. The strains of rice crop also differs as only koreans and japanese eat medium-grain rice whereas all others grow and consume variants of long-grain etc. But for the purpose of the game, making distinction between rice crops is unimportant.
