Hi, just joined the modded community for Banished, just to spice things up a little. Any advice on mods??

Goblin Girl

Do you want to change the way the game plays, or just make cosmetic changes?  If you just want cosmetics, there are tons of theme sets that contain houses, blacksmith & tailor, service buildings, storage & markets.  On the other hand, there are also mods that add different crops or entire production chains My favorite: a bakery that makes pumpkin pies!  You need wheat, pumpkins, sunflowers, and spices.  Then you need a mill to grind the wheat, an oil press to make oil out of the sunflower kernels, a little spice garden, and a bakery to put it all together.

RK's mod has different animals, both in the wild and domesticated. He also has buildings that require clay roof tiles & bricks to construct, so he has a clay pit and so on.

Really, the sky is the limit.

By far the easiest mods are the full standalone sets.  Should take some time to explore each of these in full.  After these you'll have a better idea if you want to experiment more with separate mods.

You might want to start out with smaller mods that don't make changes to the game the way the large mods do.   Or, add some small mods to one of the large game changing mods.

Some good small mods, especially when starting out, are :
Kid - Bakery & Garden V1.1, http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=335
It has small plots to grow various crops, with no need to wait for a trader for seeds.  There are also three styles of houses, and more things.

Kid - Storage Carts V1.2, http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=337
Carts for storage instead of only having big barns.

Kid - Animal Shed SA 2, http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=387
It has a sheep shed that gives wool, so you can start making warm coats early on without building a trading post and waiting for a trader.  There is also a small barn that gives milk and eggs.

Jinxie - Bitty Chicken Coop v1.0, http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=561
A small "back yard" chicken coop for chicken meat and eggs.

Jinxie - Bitty Rabbit Hutch v2.0, http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=550
A "back yard" rabbit hutch that gives rabbit meat and leather

Kid - Settlers V1.0, http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=564
A mod set with houses, service buildings, some deco.  What I really like are the very small berry and herb patches.  Those can supplement the herbalist and taverns.

EB Unified Mod - Version 17023 Updated October 31 2018,  http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=271
A semi large mod set, but it doesn't make much change to the base game.   You can  look at the separed mods on the mods download page to see what the buildings look like.

Kid - Ghost Flowers V1.1,  http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=428
Flowers that can placed anywhere, since they are "ghosted"m to help beautiful your town.
