Thanks for the replies everyone :)

To answer the burning question, I used debug, just not for building any buildings. I've only got 500 hours in the game, but I have all the achievements except Established and Tenure, and I too am confident that I can start a game on harsh+hard and survive just fine.

More specifically, terraforming isn't something I couldn't-not debug. The risk of getting a tile wrong or misshaping an island was too great for me, so I debugged that instead of saving, terraforming, and reloading if something went wrong. I also debugged some of the decorations so that I could play around with aesthetics, but a lot of the decorations I used were ghosted or just free, which is always appreciated. And now that I'm remembering it, I debugged a chunk of those castle walls. They look pretty simple looking at them built, but the wall segments, tower segments, and corner segments are all different dimensions and I made a mess trying to join them perfectly a few times.

I don't mind using debug, but I still like creating and balancing an economy, so I tend to play the game as-intended just so it's more fun. It also ends up dictating how much of what I need, which gives me reasons to build areas a certain way, which leads to unexpected areas to madly fill with an insane amount of decorations. I completely agree: "There's never enough deco stuff!!!"

I purposely avoided phrases like "did u just use debug menu" to not accidently imply I would critizise him if he would. You implied it anyway, I told you thats not what I am aiming at and you implied it again. Thats why I am angry.

And because of that @DrNiggle felt the need of explaining himself for using a totally legitmiate tool. Which wasnt my intention.

Thank you @DrNiggle for your detailed awnser.

Bottom line, everyone who is honest with themselves, knows there is only one reason some people care whether or not debug was used.   For those people who care so much, something that looks quite amazing now becomes no big deal to them simply because of debug.  They consider it a cheat plain and simple and love calling people out on it.

There simply was no reason at all for the question to be asked, it serves no purpose at all to know other then to degrade the accomplishment.   Deny it all you want, I don't care.

As I already mentioned, I've detailed a few towns out using debug.   It can take quite some time to accomplish when it's a full out detailed town being done.  It's still an accomplishment, it takes quite an eye to get things looking the way somebody wants it and that's the accomplishment being targeted, not the survival aspect.

Your town looks wonderful, @DrNiggle ! I would like to walk the streets there.

theonlywanderer, you make a lot of assumptions about the intentions of others, but that is likely due to how you would be thinking if you were to ask about the use of debug.  I don't think at all that the fact someone asked if debug was used was because the person "loves calling people out on it."  I do not at all see how anyone's intention was to "degrade the accomplishment."  Those are your feelings.

Making a beautiful a town is simply making something that looks beautiful.  How it got that way, either with only the use of debug or with long time tedious waiting for all the collection of resources and the bannies doing the building, or a combination, in no way diminishes the outcome.
This was posted, after all, in the village images section, not a blog of a town growing "naturally".

One day I will use only debug to make a beautiful town picture.  I get tired of playing for days waiting for enough bannies to be born and become workers, and getting enough supplies.

@galensgranny

LMFAO!  You make no sense at all.   I am defending the use of debug as perfectly valid, how does that equate to me considering it cheating?

I've been around this board awhile so I know how quite a few people feel about debug around here.

Gatherer

I forgot to ask @DrNiggle
What mod are those walls and towers from?
There's never enough deco stuff!!!
Fiat panis.

DrNiggle

@Gatherer The wall and towers and gates are from a mod called "The Fountain: Highborn Society". On Steam, they're uploaded by mathieuld.

Honestly I liked them when I was in the planning phases, but now that everything is done I've been thinking about tracking down another castle wall mod I saw somewhere here a while ago. The Fountain walls don't have good textures close up, and I'm not sure how well their style goes with RK's buildings.

The Fountain mod also has a lot of other crap included in it, some of which (like a special kind of water that has no trade value and you can't get rid of for example) is bad for the base game systems. Like warehouse space. Also some of the special workshops in it are bugged, so I couldn't use them at all.

Do you have any castle mod recommendations? I was thinking of making a multi-tiered castle island -- like Minas Tirith but the mountain is an island.

there is a LITE version of the fountain mod. that does have the castles and walls. i believe the main reason the buildings won't funtion is it is a 1.06 mod, really old 1 at that. not sure if the CC compatability 1.07 mod will solve those issues. you can try it use it above the main mod that you use.

check KID's mods. there are several castles. the Gothic Fantasy has 2 sets of walls. plus he made an island castle. i am going to butcher the name off the top of my head- Brodhiam is close to the name i think.
