Hello !

I will be back to design and modding...

there were a tons of suggestions made here and there, i cant remember everything that you asked me in every threads....
so if you can put everything here so it can easily found and follow the progression of what it has been asked and done...

i would appreciate :)

Another bad suggestion: make an advanced hunter profession called "Clowns" that are armed with muskets and hunt drifters and nomads for "Mystery Meat" resource.

Lets see:

1. NMC railway bridge to work with Choo Choo Mod.

2. Fenceless cemeteries.

3. Specialized ports (for the main river and for NMC) each with different design.

4. Aqueduct (to either run from the mountains or from a pumping station from the main river).

5. Updating Decorations Mod with a fig tree and new 2x2 size statues.

6. General market (8x8 size, all tiles stone texture)

7. Decorative obelisk and arch.

i ve put "plymouth plantation" in google to see images ... i mainly got a village with old grey houses with thatched roof...
i have not found though good images to make the textures to use... but i ve tried to find something that could fit.
and i made quickly a design that is kinda fit with those....

first picture is the view of the village , the 2nd and 3rd  picture is a preview of an house i did (4x4 +1 road)

Good to see you back! I have just started to dig into the Mega mod and get very nice memories from good games, I played with your mods, when I now see (and use) some of your older buildings.

I can see, that you have got a number of requests, so I will not add anything now.

For a more serious suggestion though... how about jousting? :D Employ knights, have tourneys, potentially receive large payouts of gold, upkeep in various fancy items!

Another more serious idea: underground gardening. For winter harvests. Something like a glass garden (see Winterfell in Game of Thrones) or mushroom caves in hills/mountains!

I definitely spent 3 or 4 hours at work yesterday brainstorming ideas....

1) The David Davis Mansion, near where I used to live. It's a Victorian-style mansion built in the 1850s. While not strictly colonial, it certainly fits in with the environment! It was the residence of a former Supreme Court justice and senator in the US (see attachments).

2) For "The North", while this next one wasn't built in Scandinavia (it's in Maryland) or by a Scandinavian (it's by an Irishman), the buildings allegedly use a Flemish brickworking style - and the colors seem to fit. It's called Oxon Cove & Oxon Hill. It was built ~1805.

Reminds me of a cartoon I read as child "Fantomen" (the Phantome (?)). He lived in a skul-cave. Everyone read that cartoon in Sweden in the 1960ies! (Remeber Kid?: I think you were around that time, too)

Yes, surely - I had a lot of comic-books, sometime he was called Dragos or something.
For those who don't recognize what we are talking about; his name was Kit Walker and
he had a horse named Hero and a wolf name Devil.

that was not really to make "new" things lol but .... i am still doing some ^^


about the Smuggler's Cave .... the mesh is done, i added some details like skulls fences :)

Maybe just some simple trade - give him coins or gems and get expensive/hard to get items... a cow, a pig, something useful to get another chain of production going... if possible  :)

The purpose of smuggler's cave is to produce random goods and random number. Of course not overpowered, but something to begining the game when you run out of tools etc. :)

@RedKetchup  Wow, smuggler cave and skull fence look good.  Will have to give some thought to that one, could be a good new theme started there. Ghosts and haunted houses.  Would make a good story.

Just a reminder here of Work in Progress New Hunter Cabin and Druids.  Also still looking forward to Hobbit World.

  I like greenhouse the way it is now with seedling production, maybe could use some little pots of seedlings on the shelves inside.  Shelves have snow on in winter.  For a new small greenhouse maybe a seed trader, often have to wait too long for ship to come in with seeds.  Or another thought, a big wood box type wagon with SEED sign on sides that is trader that only accepts special item like iron shovel or farm tool added to blacksmith or with new small blacksmith that makes iron shovel and tools with a high trade value for the shovel or farm tools.  Wagon trader could also accept seedling from greenhouse.  Oh, that would be nice I think.

RED it must be the weekend,cause these people are drunk. they think they are in  disney world,designing amusement parks.lol
abandoned has a point. a greenhouse for some seeds would be nice.  say seeds for the wild foods we gather<berries,ginger,roots,mushrooms,etc. but what would we use early game to supply the GH??? as for farm tools,that might work as aproduction change later in game but does nothing to help at start.

   as to a smuggler cave,it fits a pirate theme more than a banished. i usually think of banis as settling new lands maybe with indians or nomadic tribes to give you nomads. guess if u had huge casstle towns you might find a robinhood. a small group living in a cave eating berries and fish is 1 thing. but who are they goina attack or raid from???  if we go from CC then later in game we could  trade muskets or alcohol for various items. then you will need a still.

i think the indian trader CC has is a good idea but the trade items and values are not.i actually think the trade is backwards.

@brads3  No point getting seeds for wild crops, just make a gatherer instead of a farmer.  Kids new vegetable garden is pretty good,  and has a start condition to get seeds for the veggies on easy and medium difficulty.  You need a farmer, crop is harvested early, then you need a worker for the work place to get a nice assortment of vegetables.  I have greenhouse, and 2 ports (one specialized) with seedling waiting for grain after 5 years.  Any building that requires certain crop is a long wait.  lol can't even get drunk at tavern without the right crop to brew the stuff.  Could probably get to Disney world and back sooner.  Maybe smuggler could attack seed trader for barrels of seeds or sacks of flour.

i do have the garden mod,but since i use CC i have to wait for seeds. i would like a orchard 1 that does blue and rasberry and apples.just like 4 basic fruits. the garden does give the banis more variety. plus it is more of what a garden would be rather than 1 crop.
  as to you attacking the trader,then he will never come back. serves you all right dont it?   your theme ideas arent all bad. a candle lit christmas tree with a sleigh. but i see them as decorations more than buildings the banis use.the banished game play is more about survival and building a prosperous town than about the fighting and attacking.
   not to be a spoil sport ,RED. i think the cave should b more hidden. if you was smugling and raiding, would you want ppl to find your hideout so easy? or is there  canons and new walls and towers to guard it forthcoming too?

hey @brads3 , I agree with you on Banish survival and building, would not like it if it where fighting and attacking.  Plenty of other games for that.  Tree of Life mod won't work with CC, that puts wild fruit and nut trees around the map to gather fruit & nuts, really like that mod and that wild oats one too. I would think a fruit and berry one could be made like the vegetable garden one.  I like your idea of a Christmas theme mod.  Good thing I don't know how to make mods or you would end up with gingerbread houses to live in and a Christmas cookie bakery, hot cocoa and eggnog at the tavern, a nativity set statue for in front of the church, santa's workshop. I would like a Christmas theme mod too, and Christmas train cars and wrapped present for choo choo mod.  Wow, Santa village and choo choo.

may i suggest something that's not a building? i would like to be able to assign more builders to build. not just 2.especially at the bigger buildings. i prefer to all ... it can start with 2 but i would like to increase the number. and the job will be done a lot faster..

lol pilgrim. i wanta see more uses of the "click connect" of that house. i did ask,n they made the colonial barn that way. nicely extendable. not sure what other buildings would fit the idea. do like the way it looks,1 building with multiple functions.combined with the new garden mod. we can almost make a homestead for 2 ppl and a child or 2 to run.we need a workshed that gives makes its own tools,clothes, and firewood. RED could a trade post be set up similar to what u have done with the train?? to look like a shed with a workshop on 1 side and a wood pile on the other,takes so many iron,leather,logs,etc gives out x amount of tools,coats and firewood per yr??

i ve tried to draw a cove but .... nothing concrete so far, i cannot "see" pictures of a good model to base myself on it.

It would be a shame if such a nice looking cave and skull fence did not make it into the game.  Could @DesoPL smuggler's cave not just be made into a trading post?

@RedKetchup , I've just begun a small mountain map using your Choo Choo mod, so far so good.  I really like the looks of it, I have not gotten as far as the game play or trading yet, just building tracks.  I have one problem.  I cannot build a tunnel through the mountain to the end of the map to make it appear as if that is where the train comes from.  I do not need a tunnel there for town people to walk through.  My suggestion or request is for a decorative only tunnel entrance with a bit of track.  I hope it would be possible without to much extra time or work for you.  Thank you.

I had some problems, as I used this tunnel to "out of the map" from the Mega Mod. The builders who started to build it, disappeared and emerged somewhere on a total different edge of the map, often too far away from anything, so several builders starved to death before the tunnel was done.

I don´t know, if it´s a recurring bug or if I was just unlucky by placing it on the "wrong" spot. Maybe you should check (or at least write a warning) before you post this upgrade.

ok, @Nilla

about the other thing of this week , there will be the Smuggler Cave....

the trade dock was a good idea....
but i will maybe go for an alternate (different kind of) trade similar to ChooChoo ....

Since they kinda are smugglers and pirates ......
i thought i would ask them to take Ale (they love ale...) in exchange for food/utilities (what they could get by pirating merchant boats ^^)

(i still not yet decided about the red barn .... i ll need to redesign it smaller.... i thought to use it as an alternative for pastures... but dunno)

@RedKetchup, regarding red barn, as pasture would be nice but I think we still need a red and white creamery.  Smaller would be nice but a big red and white creamery is better than no red and white creamery.  Liked the weathervane on roof, beautiful building.  Plan for smuggler cave sounds good to me.

yeah you are probably right.

i was back to my smuggler cave........

i feel so lost !
many times something didnt worked out as expected and i feel so lost to try to spot the problems lol
everytime something doesnt work... i am losing hours to try to find out

and i made a stupid mistake, i erased line about my mountain ceiling recovering all the rear part of the cave and trying to recover hard drive data to try to find a copy of my file before i erased it :S
or i ll need to find out again how i did it.

i remembered what happended last time when i spent 30 hrs to try make it and i finally got it at the last 5 mins and made it BAM! it Works!! lol
i found what was the problem ^^

Regarding Gatherer's list, first on list is NMC railroad bridge for choo choo. Can the update for choo choo's decorative tunnel be added to that? If it is not too time consuming.

i ve asked a CC Modo about CC & MM cemetery... they told me that yeah, they have a fenceless 5x5 to 40x40 !

i also can understand, not everyone are using CC and MM (due the big overload it can do on computer and toolbars)....

Whats about a fenceless one from me without fences... and without flatten ground ? placable everywhere but water ?? (i am not sure if their fenceless can do that)

Is there a way to limit where within the boundaries the tombstones spawn? So you can actually add paths and such (Even if it requires the graveyard to be a set size)?
I pose the question because that way you could add dead trees and maybe a central Mausoleum!

Yeah, CC cemetery covers most bases -

* transparent
* Slope conforming (build on hills)
* fenceless
* sized from 5x4 up to 40x40 (5x4 minimum for one grave; anything smaller would crash the game)
* peeps can enter at any point, not just through the entrances

But hey, that should not stop you from making a different version - I love the "creepy" one  ;D

Adding paths and trees is much wanted, too - though you'd need ghosties for that, or else allow for the smallest possible size so players can make the cemetery sort of modular...

Other nice items for a cemetery - some crypts, a very tiny chapel, small shed for tools, a hearse (small wagon with a (covered) corpse), a freshly dug hole...  ;)

Not sure if that is possible - but I always wanted to be able to assign a cleric to a cemetery, with the chapel capacity...

we have almost no control over a click and drag cemetery. you cannot set the path which is 2 tiles wide in front of the main gate entrance. you cannot even try to reduce it to 1 to make more place for the tombstones... (by reducing the width of the maingate) it crashes.
you cannot add anything to it in center because you dont draw anything 3D in the middle. you can only draw the gate and the fence all around and nothing in center.

the center is controlled by the tombstones function. you can draw your own tombstones.... make them look like a dead tree... or a crypt... but it will clip over the other tombstone. *(and you dont have any control where the game will RNG put thoses, can be in middle like it can be in the edge. it is random)

thats about the click and drag cemetary. didnt made any test yet on a static one.

Yeah, the width of the "preset" paths is fixed, that's right... no real control indeed, but at least the paths are always in the same layout, you need to pay attention to the general orientation when drawing the cemetery (rotate the plot if necessary), to avoid clipping...

A good way to add decorations (paths, benches, trees etc.) though is to use ghosted items -

Fenceless cemetery on hill and creepy one both look good to me.  Creepy wall or cast iron creepy fence and creepy dead tree deco would be good, maybe a gloomy looking cryptlike chapel.

like if you check the 2nd screenshot.... why it skipped 1 tile to the right and not to the left :P

It looks good. I prefer the fence parts to the gate. Those candles and the extra bits on top of the stone columns are just a bit too much for me. I prefer the plainer look. But it looks good.  :)

a fenceless will be fenceless but you can put whatever set of external walls you want to on the tile just outside around it. (or ghost ones)

i am also trying to add crypts being build inside the cemetery (instead of a tombstone but it is pretty random^^)
the only way to reduce alot the amount of crytps built inside is by adding like a dozen of other tombstones

The fence looks good. I love the combination of metal and stone. Crypt is also great. Is the fence going to be released as a standalone decorative wall? Because then we would be able to make a special (decorative only) section of the cemetery with crypts and gardens.

Crypts in a few different colours would also be great.

@RedKetchup, I found the Simple Tombstone mod on the new CC site under kralyergs Kave.  They are small white crosses, all the same size. I think they would look too small and lost surrounded by your new stone and metal fence. I think they would need to be bigger and maybe stone. I think the small white ones would look good in fenceless cemetery, maybe on hill or next to little white chapel.

Perhaps what you need is simple entertainment like the street theatre puppet shows that used to be a done in the medieval era and can still be seen in parts of Asia.
The puppeteers usually had a simple stall, big enough for two to five people so it wouldn't take up a lot of room. I think you could even make a puppet stall on the back of a wagon although that would use more wood to build than stone (probably no stone at all).
For those puppet shows that were more elaborate or much bigger productions, the stall was obviously a lot bigger with room for better scenery or larger puppets.

Edit: And of course, you could make a theatre building where stage plays are performed.

That's what I was thinking too:
- an open air theatre, sound stage etc. 
- Poetry readings, performances etc.
- Parkway with arches, with ghost tiles around it, like the 5 x 5 Christmas tree. 
- A maze?  Labrinth?
- May pole
- dancing shed, large shed on decorated ghost tiles (tile & pave how you want, decorate it as needed).

that would be an executioner (or hangman / torturer). One that whips/flogs, hangs, or lights the fire on the pyre..  tarring and feathering.
All in all a medieval day out, with execution and hangings on the scaffold, on the market / townsquare, with some food stalls and some other carnival business :)


as 'production building' one could take fruit and/or stone as throwing materials :P  firewood for burnings..  ;D
maybe iron for shackles, etc..

Can I request for a large ancient looking tree that acts like forester with a foot print of 2x2 or 4x4. Why even numbers? Well I'm currently using a 2x2 mini forester and it aligns with entrance/exit of the medieval 1st floor tunnel house which is a two road wide (see pic) and center perfectly in each block creating a mini park. I would have placed a town well but it's 3x3.

@kid1293 oh, that is wonderful of you to consider this.  Those Saxon/Celtic buildings are really nice.  The druid things are in the thread (RK) Work in Progress, 5 threads down from this suggestion and mod ideas one.  It has pictures and other suggestions too and that hunters cabin.  Your tree house looks really good and that mother tree is something else.  There's no doubt you would do a good job with this project, but whatever you decide.  :)  Have a good day tomorrow.

I don't think the druid thing is for me.
I think RK should release a separate version of his mod.

While I like the forest this is a - big concept -
it is too much for me now.
The same goes for Saxon/Celtic buildings. I did the Plimoth plantation
and to go to another part of the world and do same sort of buildings again is
not what I want.

I like to take it one day at the time. Not plan ahead until summer.

Here is what I mean. I was into making trees and the discussion was
about druids and so on... If I can make a building now and then, I'm happy.
It's a Tree Stump with herbalist.

@kid1293 , just posted new story, Mountain Mines.  I don't plan much of the story before I start and often change plan when I choose the map, or during story because of uncooperative evil boatman.  The story is based mostly on mods I have not tried yet, and there are still so many plus updated ones I have tried.  Look how DS small village has changed since Smallville.  Before I finished Smallville I already had several story themes in mind and other ideas came to me during other stories or seeing new mods that bring to mind a connection in some way (like Plimoth Plantation). So, the intro is usually done before I start playing the map and the first chapter or two before I post it.  The story just kind of goes on from there based on game play until I run out of space (like those small maps) or I have used the mods I chose to try, and it's time for weary traveler to move on.  Hope you like the next story.  Thanks for great mods.

Now with that palisades, i might try do an small medieval viliage like i wanted do allways in Banished, since in Settlers VI game was poor developed sadly. I mean is good game, but not many options like no modding etc. :(

While I really like the addition of new walls/fences, towers and decoration items, what I find the most interesting about these new items is the that the watch tower has collected boar meat, bear meat and furs.

i see you have been busy. i take it those watchtowers produce randomly without a limit that a hunter would have?? have you or do you plan to add the animals?? if not that is quite ok,we can use decorations around the forest for deer,bears,etc. do you have an idea of how far you plan to take these ideas?? i can see this totally changning our forest buildings.

RED,can we get a decorative barn styled like the training camp fence?? say 1.5 tiles wide by 2.5 long with a peaked roof and leave a long side open? something we can use to make a decorative stable. just so the animals have a place to hide from the rain. i use the ghost coverings now,but they don't have walls and they look a tad too tall.thank you

i think we are going to like those watch towers. do they carry bow and arrows? we could send em with muskets even. the rusticness will look good for small starting villages. it was brilliant how you designed them to be useful as hunters as well.

Yes!  What a great idea, a storage open sided barn, narrow, to fit in the tight spaces adjacent to houses etc, but big enough to not be dwarfed by open plains either.  I'm always encouraging the smaller, tighter buildings now :)  If it was 2 wide, or under, I have a use for it!!  haha

cannot with F variant. the "particle function" cannot be random with variants. it is there... or there is no code. no variant.
would need to have a very seperate template / toolbar icon for both.

i found a error with the new CC journey. it doesn't seem to like your NMT. build pastures and it fatal errors when it changes seasons.didn't happen with the CC1.6  ran tests for 2 days to narrow down the prob.

no but NMT had cow for milk.i can't understand why they would have done anything to the code of the pastures or animals. i could see tweking production #'s but not the code.i went back to old old saves and yep had cow with CC1.6+NMT. never used them,didn't know i had 3 sets with the 1.6. if i use the north with the 2 mods ,i don't have the cow. took me while to narrow down the 2 mods that conflict cause it didn't do it before. and i hadn't loaded anything that should have an affect. i even got goofy and loaded the old CC with the new +NMT,no error. figure that 1.
the barn looks good,ghosted might be better since it'll be used with the decor fences.

it change nothing if there is 2 or 3 or 26 or 365 different cows ! all the animals are independant with their own mesh and their own files. the game doesnt know it is a cow, it does not know "what" is a cow ! it can be goats, horses, goose, rabbits, magic blooms .... living boxes.... chimereas... griffins... wyverns.... the game know nothing of this

which pastures you take ? the vanilla one ? or a CC one like no fences?... unlimited extended size ? with their own CC fences ?

i know ,unless somehow thru the coding for the animla the CC and nmt clash. i was using vanilla,and have tried various sizes. i just attempted to use CC 1.7+1.6+nmt in that order. worked til it switches from late season to season.held for bout 30 seconds,so i thought it was going to work and then error. if i add a milk cow,in that case it was frieshman cows from CC. pigs did seem to function.

i just did 3 full entire years with 3 pastures. CC 1.7 at top, NMT at 2nd , Traning camp at 3rd, i also have debug mod and time is money

left : fresian cow
middle : beef cow
right : cow (milky cows)

no crash in any winters

the one to the left, the little one is the Barn Decoration for the poeple who asked for it :) 2x3 tiles. just deco purposes ^^

the 2 of the right, the big ones are the 2 "F" variant of real purpose Barns (i will probably need to add some crates under it to make it look occupied.... ) It has a 3x4 tiles footprint. cost only 48 wood.

i like the look . looks old and depreciated :)

the others are F variant of a 4x3 tiles barns.... of course, i can add one of those and make it ghosted too :) then you would get a 3x2 ghosted and a 4x3 ghosted.

Ha shoot, my bad for not paying attention to all the posts, so much going on! 3x2 is actually great for a small stock pile, makes it much more flexible than larger ones. I'm thinking about adding some coverings in the stile of my forest set to do the same thing. The more stock pile coverings the better!

i did make sure that the 3x2 cover everything (got to make it a bit bigger, taller, and moved it to the left.....)
but everything is good now as you can see the 4 stockpiles full and with cover over it

the only thing you cant control where citizens stand and kneel to pickup ressources from stockpiles ^^

RED, i finally found my prob. the compatibility buildings mod needs to be below CC.
as to covering bigger piles,take 2 small sheds and cover a 5x5. should not look bad. they are ghosted.RED shhhhh we should steal NECORA's new texture.

About the overall project ...... i am almost done !
fixed all the errors i ve saw... done all the little details... done all footprints ...

There is just something i want to include before i release it :)
i need a tailor to take care of the "fur" material we are getting in this mod...
Tents and hospital require "fur" but i want a long term purpose for it :)
Fur Coats would perfectly fit for that. So i need a tailor ^^

we get furs from the watching towers :)
so i need to do something with it. thats Textiles as leather/wool....

i ve took 4-5 barns and i took some pieces here and there and tried to do something with it ^^ .... and i think i made a good tailor :)
i added a door and some ropes...

i .... i .... i just need to put windows i think ... and it will give a very nice result :)

There will be 3 kinds :

Ghosted version, not walkable, just decoration
New brick set (as called inside NMT - MC section), walkable. function as part of the MC section with the digging in the ground and a texture imitating the water...

i added all [NMT] resources to Train Drivers ... (and all their meshes, stringtables and sprites...)
they are not necessairy in ABC order but they are all at the end of the list ^^

@RedKetchup in all seriousness, if you are putting together collections, maybe theme them, so perhaps have a couple of them, or it may turn into a semi-MM, doesn't bother me as I have all of yours, but some players whose systems don't have the grunt may not be able to run it.  Although, you wouldn't remove your individual mods, so I guess it's a non-issue?!?

I love a tidy menu, so any changes to that end are welcome.  Just a shame that the mods have to do it themselves, that it's not built into the game that you can choose where they go.
I am an Excel person, I create tables (because I can), and I like to use MySQL because I can pull data as I need it - but, that shows that I like order, BUT, importantly flexibility.  So, if a mod could be searched, in game, then all the better.  So, Red, @kid1293 , @Necora , @tanypredator , @Discrepancy and all the other modders can have their own sub-toolbars, but, if their items are tagged as house, well, storage etc, they are also listed dynamically in the relevant category menu.  Because, yup, the game was able to dynamically allocate listings because it has the ability to "think fast".
It means that if a player forgets who designed their fave barn, then they go to barns, but, if they're creating a theme village they use the devs bar. 

*phew ...  that was a lot of thought, just from the Big Red & [RK] ideas ...  haha!!  Move along folks, I'm just a little crazy!!

@RedKetchup I was thinking about this the other day and wanted to try it but thought I'd just ask, I'm sure it has been tried already.

In the mod kit, we can refer to the correct tool bar to add out buildings into it. Is it possible to package up a tool bar as a a mod, then use that mod as a dependency?

I have no idea if you can do that but it's a great idea. I mentioned this over at CC. I'd love to see a decorative items button/submenu and also a themed sets button. Then modders can put their big collections on that one instead of on the main menu. Would tidy things up a lot. I don't mind having one big menu for all of RK's stuff and another button for Kid's row houses, and another button for DSSV, and so on and so on. I don't mind all their stuff being placed together under one menu at all (the way they are now) - you quickly get familiar with the sub-menus and you know where to look for stuff. But having all those mods sitting under a single themed set button would really tidy up the main menu.

When you think about it, having so many great mods that the menu/toolbar is a bit of a mess is actually a good problem. But it would still be nice if it could be fixed. Of course there's always megamod with its nicely organised menus but I prefer to use the separate mods.

almost 2 years ago i asked the developper if there was a way to make a generic icon in main toolbar (like my [RK]) and have something from another mod coming to set on that icon made previously....

he told me yes and gave me the way to do it... set it up in the first mod and all sequently mod, have the exact same code with the same [RK] icon..
but in fact , what he told me, didnt worked at all :(

and instead to go link on that [RK] icon .... it was creating 2 and 3 and 4 [RK] [RK] [RK] [RK]  icons on the toolbar LOL

dont worry, it only add some choices at the end of the menu....
nothing is obligating you to buy those with coins if you dont have any use of it.

it is absolutely working without those [NMT] and [TC] mods :) completly stand alone.
you dont need at all to install those mods if you dont want to  :( it just add a support  8)

they are very discret (<= if that word exists in english^^)
i dont even knows if it added a +2-3 MB to the file.... it is just mostly text :)

I tried to run the CC, MM, and NMT - not necessarily because I wanted to use everything included but just out of curiosity. I wouldn't have kept any of the 3 installed permanently after I played around with them.

I can run Tom Sawyer's North mod and it's great to play around with for a little while (although a bit frustrating due to game limitations  :( ) but not something that would stay installed permanently. I like going back to the default game with my choice mods.

It would be cool if mods could be installed like with SC4, where you download a main package (NAM) but you can chose what parts of the package you want, but it's not so - there ya' go.  ;D

Then there's the issue of me not being able to run mega mods like CC, MM, and NMT - but that's not really an issue here. That's my problem and not something modders need to concern themselves with.

Right... thanks to our modders we can now play pretty distinct settings - mountains, lakes, swamps, jungle, desert, north pole and more... with a medieval, colonial, 19th century touch, maybe soon to be broadened to egyptian, wild west, mayan, asian, steampunk, or even space colonies... Who wants to load ALL of that when starting a new town with a set theme?

I think to stay modular is the way to go   :)

I agree, modular would be good. That way you would have, as you say Paeng, a themed mod for a specific type/time of community (The North is a good example), as opposed to different themes in one mod.

I think it would not only benefit the players, but - again - as you mentioned, it might make it easier for modders to keep updated and keep the packages smaller.

Yeah, to maintain the compatibility to everything is key, and I feel you're doing very well  :)

For NMT, I often wish that the "industrials" (production places) were separate, too - like the saltery, dryers, salt mine, ale stand and many similar items... if they were standalone (like the Ketchup Factory) or grouped in a smaller package, we could use them in every town too, as their architectural style is quite neutral and would fit in small towns as well...  ;)

the problem with bridges you can only do 1 tile large, everything else are overlapped. when i ll do some for walking... i ll do 1 large but overlapped of 0.5 tiles each side.
you need to keep in mind, the "trains" are supposely fit under it LOL at least.... visually able to get inside

And it looks awesome for that, I can't wait to give it a go. I was more referring to the new covered bridge by CC, it is a lot larger than I thought it would be. Could do with a more cozy version.

@RedKetchup you know I'm all about the "small" at the moment, is there anyway that there could be a matching 'leanto', a smaller version of the house?  I'm really short on 2x2+road houses, that are more for outskirts, than for city.
All wood, wood house settings, add some stone, and a little iron, and stone house values. 
A small house is cosy, and people have to snuggle, so warmth would be stone value :)
Would look excellent with your bonfire next to it :D

Heres the colors i decided :) : 5 different colors.


Yellow : changed color of its window shuttles to green

Blue : blue wall, grey roof, wood and shuttles white, grey door.

White : white wall, grey roof, wood and shuttles grey, grey door.

Red : red wall, grey roof, wood and shuttles white, white door.

Green : green wall, brown roof, wood and shuttles white, white door.

bah i said when i did it ... it was a quick and temporary answer for the demand ( i didnt had time to take a full day to do that (like it always takes when we do a 3D mesh, one day is kinda the minimum)

i am not fully 100% decided yet though for this one... the roof (at the vanilla) looks odds to me now ^^

but it is done now and i am alot more satisfied with those ^^

@RedKetchup (and @kid1293 , I will explain why in a sec)

I've just been on a new map and have been setting up themed areas and there are a couple of things I went to add to the area but weren't there, some decorative, some functional, and I thought I would ask, if a no arises, that's ok :) 

Current theme area is @kid1293 with his awesome Workplace set, and I've been loving it, and have set up my Shawn & Matilda area.  I went to use a couple of the small storage that both of you have produced, and I came up with the following thoughts:

1)  animal product specific storage (or close to it), 2 x 2  and ...  1x2 (1x4) so that the storage can go along the road, or the border of the pasture. 
--- cattle:  beef; milk; leather; bonemeal
--- sheep:  mutton; wool; bonemeal (sheep's milk would make an interesting production line too)
--- chickens:  chicken; feathers; eggs; bonemeal

But, I wasn't sure how the storage work, is it only "protein, drygoods, textiles", you can't specify what type of protein??
If not the specific protein etc, can small(er) storage buildings be made, either in the same textures that Kid has, or Red, to match your small storage already?  but, in the wider footprint.  1 deep, 2 (&4) along the road.

2)  The Nordic Warehouse, where it collects all the building & clothing materials, but it has a very large footprint.  I would like something much smaller, for the farmers, not just the blacksmiths. :)

I think this would also work with the area I'm building with Red's Training camp, given that his also generates food, and I'm building pastures etc in the area as well.

teah you cannot target and specify a specific items to be stored, it is all "flags" :(
presently have alot to do .... maybe Kid can go ahead with a 1x(+1road) x 3 or 4 tile long storage ^^

i can tell, the split of Training Camp has been successful :)

it is so much complicated to split a mod into parts, lot of things you need to remember all along the process.... but ...

IT IS SO NICE to see all these working together ... i have things going to set on other parts toolbars, other mods toolbars.... and whatever the mod order you choose... all works together :)

To see all these working... worth so much the big extra work :) you becomes so excited with a big huge smile on the face ^^  ;D  ;D  ;D

thats a concern as well,KID. it will get confusing which mods are upgraded and which aren't. is there a way for modders to package them into a file and zip them all as well? i nkow i chose to make a new file for the 1.07 version that i can just add the mods to and then decide what else i want from the older file that wasn't upgraded and copy them to it. goina take time to redo mod orders.

I've seen a few people mention in that past that they got an error message saying "too many mods" or something like that. If every modder starts cutting all their mods into smaller mods it might cause problems if there actually is a limit to how many mods we can install.

I'm not sure how that will affect saved games yet. I'm still testing this. It will require a bit of diligence with the registry entries when disabling mods though as it seems Banished saves all the mods from both installs (that's all I have at the moment) in the same registry entry.
Further testing may prove this option as good or not good.

I think that will really depend on your system.

As for the 'too many mods' warning / crash.  I got that the other week.  I can't remember what the fix was, but it wasn't about how many mods I had.  If I remember I will return. :D 
I've had so many CTDs the last couple of weeks I can't remember which was why :)

I am a hoarder :)  I also haven't deleted a lot of ones that I should have by now. 
When the mods I use are updated for 107 I'll systematically go through and remove all the ones I don't have enabled. :)

I have 201 items in my WinData folder with only 6 of them being .sub from Steam.
I had to start Banished to check and I may have miscounted but I have 161 mods active in my game.
Yes, 161 mods enabled.
Yes I do really use all 161 in a game,it takes a lot of time to build up the map to make use of all of them but they all get used somewhere.
No I didn't do this at build 1.0.7, I have been using this many mods since build 1.0.6.
Yes I have a gaming rig.
Yes it still takes a few minutes for the game to load and a few minutes extra for a save game to load.

So what does any of that really mean?
The game is robust enough to handle a lot of mods but your computer might not be. I still have some CTDs when using Quit to leave a game and I think this is from the RAM clearing all that info but trying to do it too fast.
If there are a lot of individual game packages being made because modders need to split up their mods, I'm sure I will reach the limit of how many mods can be actively used and at that point I will have to seriously consider using MegaMod to cut back on the number of individual mod units I have installed.

But for now, I believe anyone with a fairly new computer and who is running less than 60 active mods is probably safe to install a lot of mod packages.

I can do that but It'll make more sense with screenshots of my mod menu because some of the pkm files are named slightly different to the names displayed in the mod menu.
Soooo, it'll take me a little bit of time to get all that and it won't happen just yet, I have to go to work in 20 minutes!

But I am thinking that it may be useful for modders and players to see a list of mods that do work together (as long as the load order is good) and just how many you can use together.
With that thought in mind I'll do it as a separate thread, including my system specs as well to put it into some context, rather than clutter up this thread.

Last time I counted there were about 280... not counting KKKK (60+?) or Steam (no idea)... all together we probably approach the 400 mark... specially the way things are going lately  ;)

That doesn't mean I download or use all of them - actually I only use a small fraction, in varying mixtures... maybe 20 to 30 in any given game (not counting plain overrides).

they have light saddles since it is from a training camp mod theme. The .pngs of the horses textures have some "shadows" where the saddles go so i couldn't take them out unless i would have edited the .pngs.

and in same time... it is sooooooo long time ago i did this... i have a bit hard to get back in the bath lol
kinda lost alot ^^

my plan is to re-enable the diagonal i made back in time but i need to fix them.
i disabled them cause the "digging" in diagonal was extremly bad so i had an idea: what if the diagonal dont dig at all ? (only the non-diagonal)
i would need to push higher at ground level the diagonal and make the soft turns to reach the diagonal height at one turn while keeping to be below at the other end to meet the non-diagonal :)

also back in time, i didnt know how to do ghosted pieces... so many of the "1 tiles" pieces can be ghosted and be put everywhere to meet all your city designs.

also all the sets are lacking of "soft turn left" pieces, they all have soft turn right, but no turn to the other side^^

City Roads has been posted with diagonals ! more than 8 hours work for it today  :'(
3 tiles width gone easy, pieces were made, just add to tweak it OK so they finally look good.
4 tiles width weren't done, and was alot harder to make them look good :( they arent perfect like the 3 tiles width but i really have enough ^^

I personally don't mind what the cows are, where I am the cows are brown & white, black & white, and the big red ones. :)
They all 'get produced' to the same end product, so I don't mind. :)

Can we not have a new cow, so one doesn't override another?  mooers, milkers, beefers? or is it a texture thing?
So that players like brads don't have their fave overwritten.
Enquiring minds want to know ...  haha.

just did my old blacksmith too with its residence :)
i also gave a new possibility : handle CC iron ore and make 1 to 2 iron from 2 ore (cc has 1 ore + 1 furnace = 1-2 iron) so ... it gives another option.

@RedKetchup the changes to your blacksmith so it can work like a mini-foundry is a great idea. Sometimes I need to make iron but I don't really want the CC foundries because they're both large sized. A smaller building is very welcome.  :)

@Hawk nothing wrong with omelet and quiche, in the 21st century, even cook them myself, but I don't think you'd find them in a bakery, much less a medieval one. But anyways, I will probably just keep using Red's original bakery and residence and windmill because I think he added grains to the windmill that would just mean waiting for the boatman to bring more seeds or ingredients or whatever.  I find, simplicity works best in small valley or mountain settlements.

why yes of course I can, sorry I didn't remember old bakery grains, I used rye flour last time and ignored others  :)  I especially like the windmill, I just really dislike waiting for those boatmen to show up with the right stuff. grains or chickens.  If you order it costs more trade goods, that's why I really like your greenhouse seedlings  :)

so presently, i wish to create something new, i mean a new mod before i go back and finish the 2nd part of my old mods.
thats my "need" of creation that pull me to the side ^^

i saw something at some point yesterday and was so looking good and i wished to make a mod from it.
so i bought it ... ( in "linen" dollars^^ from second life market and got rape :'( )
i thought i could use the meshes and put in game making a mod from the pieces....

so i am trying to "recreate" it, as best as i can ...
i am facing some difference that make change everything : game engine cant zoom enough good to see all the details i put in it  :-\ (we really need better zoom^^)
and my texture isnt the same, i wish to put the hand on that texture that person used to create that  ::)

but i will continue to search and continue to create all the pieces to make a set  :-[


EDIT: maybe it abolutely need some kind of AO file to help it to see the details, i dunno.

i just did the baked AO ... 1024x1024... and i dont see much of a change  :-X out of the mod passed from 384kb to almost 10MB lol
i will probably keep it , just will bake it to 512x512 instead.

It looks good. You might like to add a subtle fake shadow underneath the rows of bricks that are sticking out, just to help make them more noticeable. Or maybe you've already done that. Hard to tell from the angle in the last pic. But it looks good.  :)

bah will be a set like the Training Camp palisades :) with long straight, short straight, corners, 3 and 4 ways, end, gate, soft turn, diagonal....

at the player to decide if it is a garden walls (like i intend) or "city walls" :)

Just for the information, both omelette and quiche are not actually modern, they are very old recipes.
The earlier form of omelette, known as alumete or alamette (and other spellings), was not fluffy like modern omelettes and is recorded as being made in Paris as early as the year 1393. However versions of an omelette like food are recorded as being consumed by people in the Roman era - so omelette definitely falls into the medieveal era.
Quiche appears to have originated in the medieval kingdom of Lothringen (a region later known as Lorraine) and was an open pie made from bread dough with a filling of egg, cream custard (spicy rather than sweet) and smoked bacon/pork bits.


What can I say, I like both of these foods and I'm an amateur history nerd!  :o  ;D

Hubby & I were talking about this last night, over here nearly every bakery we go to have a Quiche (and for those sweeties, the custard tart, ohhhhh myyyyyy ....  no hints @RedKetchup (hahaha), I wouldn't be suggesting a good 'ole Custard Tart be made for us sweetling addicts, haha!!) ...  back to history ...

Hubby is Welsh, so we know a fair amount of local fare and Pasties etc, and the meatpie, and we've looked at French recipes previously, I knew about the "Quiche Lorraine", but, not about the omelette origins, thank you, that's great info. 

Now ... what came first, *cheeky ;)

For a little bit more information, if I remember correctly, a webpage about medieval recipes I read a few weeks/months ago mentioned that the earliest forms of omelette in medieval Britain were simply a mix of scrambled eggs and small pieces of meat - really simple recipe especially if you're like me and regularly screw up making omelettes!  ;D

I'm like that when it comes to Frittata, put everything in the pan, crack some eggs in, swoosh through and yummo.  Don't over think it, it all ends up the same way ...  hahaha!! 
Impossible pie, just like a quiche or frittata for the end result, just a way of getting it done without having to pre-bake or blind bake anything.  Eggs.  Glorious eggs.

I would hate to give up bacon (if I ever had to), but eggs ...  nope, they are far too handy!!

@TheOtherMicheal that is some interesting information, thanks.  I did not know the French omelet was that old.  Surprised to hear about the quiche though. There aren't many old fashioned bakeries around here anymore, they did not serve food. Really old shops were big front rooms of the owner's house, mostly they lived upstairs from their shop.   All the major food stores have bakery departments with the standard bread, rolls, pies, cakes, and cookies and special treats.  There are some pie shops and donut shops also that serve coffee and pancake places too.  Getting hungry now, kitchen is a lot closer, faster food! :)

@Abandoned  you are quite right though that a bakery wouldn't have sold this sort of food, in the medieval era they had enough trouble just keeping the supply of bread flowing because it was such an integral part of the medieval diet.
Unfortunately the way food was prepared in the medieval era is something we can't replicate in Banished so we have to have plenty of specialized shops for it in game instead. In that time people made these types of foods at their homes and if they had enough to sell, it was typically sold from a ground-floor window in their house - the original drive-thru (or walk-thru in this case). As you mentioned, if a shop did sell food, it was typically a home & shop with all the preparation done on the premises and then sold in the front room.

Medieval food can be quite interesting, they had combinations that we consider unusual and even bizarre in some cases. For example, and here's two for @QueryEverything ...
1. Rique-Manger, a dish of eggs and apples. For the curious, recipe here http://www.medievalcookery.com/recipes/riquemanger.html
2. Caudell, a wine thickened with eggs as a drink or as a sauce. Again for the curious, recipe here http://www.godecookery.com/goderec/grec22.htm

sorry i ve been kinda away for last 20hrs... got to get rid of a worm (virus) that afftected me yesterday... everything ended up with a good 8 hrs in "rescue disk mode" :S
so i was at the PC ... but not in windows lol

i am also thinking to make the long straight being alternate with "F" :
1- totally straight, plain.
2- 3 archs no opening

The ground level one looks great but it needs that dark green/soil texture. The same one you used on the tall version. Also, a better name for the ground level one would be "garden bed". Planter boxes are tall, garden beds a low (usually).

I feel guilty about asking for more (because everyone always wants more...) but here are a few more ideas for you to consider: a round one twice as big (ground level) and also squares or rectangles. Squares and rectangles would match your walls perfectly, and a large round ground level one would be great as a flower garden. The tall planter boxes are nice but we can't really put anything except trees in them. If you put ground level plants in there and it will look like they are half buried.

So many garden mods lately, it's great.  :)

Here what i did @elemental

since they are ghosted, i did changed the "F" variant feature and turned it in another inexpected way :)
the "F" Feature in these planter boxes / garden beds will now change de size of them ^^ instead of a different look  :D

"F" variant will have : 1x1 tile, 1.5X1.5 tile, 2x2 tiles, and 3x3 tiles sizes

I will add same for a "square" garden bed / planter box and i will add same for a "rectangle" ones too.
the "F" variant of the Square ones will be : 1x1 tile, 1.5X1.5 tile, 2x2 tiles, and 3x3 tiles sizes
and the "F" variant of the Rectangle will have : 0.5x1 tile, 1x2 tile, 1.5X3 tile, and 2x4 tiles sizes

and you will circle around those size by pressing "F" :)



i want to add some .... roads decorations too but i dont want to add a full set of all possibilities for them. will have like a 1 side bricks, a 2 sides, and a 3 side. i dont want to expend that alot. will see for a 3way and 4 way if need... but not much. the middle of them will be the vanilla roads you build.

4 differents designs : 1 side, 2 sides, end and corner :) ,  they all in the same key and you will rotate them through "F" (and "R" to rotate them)

I see that you have described it as a Victorian set of brick walls and decorations but if anyone thinks that something from the Victorian era might be unsuitable for Banished, red clay bricks like this were being used in Europe as early as the 12th Century (the "style" of this set is Victorian but that style was developed from earlier use of red bricks).

I absolutely love the new set Red, tried it out quick tonight, the road decorations are fabulous. I'd like a set of this that would match with the old church in CC as I love to use that church and make walls around it and flower beds etc, your walls would be perfect but then in a lighter texture. Of course, I know updating the mods etc is keeping you very busy just now so I will be patient. :)

the problem is roads dont really have diagonal... only a bunch of "1x1 dots" diagonally spaced. the biggest thing is "where" you stop to be a line of road and start to go diagonal. that piece would be a pain (or these pieces, plurial).

Yeah, that's true...

CC has all their ground- and road textures as ghosted items, square and triangular - they are really cool to fill all the spaces in diagonals or around houses, where there are gaps (another of these tiny details that bug me)...   ::)  :)

My dream would be a standalone mod that combines ALL ground/road textures from ALL mods in ghosted models...  :D

We'd never look back, and modders would not need to worry about tight footprints or road-enabling any more  ;)

Yeah I get the roads but I was also thinking of the ghost triangle ground decorations that Paeng mentioned. I use them to make my diagonal roads look nice, and things like the dock trim, and now especially this masterpiece, make it look fantastic because you can hide the sharp edges of the ghost road tiles and make them blend really well. All it would need to be is 1 piece, 1x1, diagonal from corner to corner like the attached image (not the same size as your pieces but you get the idea).

and it need to be really centrered cause if happends you ve clicked the "R" or "T" key  at some point, you are working in game not necessairly the same rotation you've been drawn it ^^ and ghosted object are weird too !
a non ghosted piece of 1x1 , it is centered on the center of that tile. a ghosted is centered at the 4 tiles crossing point. :P at the pixel 0,0 of that tile.

when i am thinking to make a ghosted object, i need to send the center of my mesh (its relative 0,0 point) toward the real -0,5x , 0,5y of my 3dsmax ^^




edit: and a diagonal piece (if you want to match it) is longer than a normal piece. square root of the x2 + y2 ... the "hypothémuse" thingy ^^ ( Hypothetical ?? in english?)

this screenshot is a better representative of what it needs to be done. of course the diagonal parts need to be longer so they touch and reach them up ... and it needs a transitional piece (which i always call "soft turn" ^^ to make the bridge between the hor/vert parts and the diagonal parts - aka the "blue plane" one)

so i extended, scaled, the diagonal pieces so they can reach up each other diagonals ( scaled at 142% roughly )

and i copied a pair over the "blue plane" one. This blue one is dedicated to becomes a transition piece, a soft turn i call^^
a Soft Turn Left precisely. i will need to make one at the end to turn to the other way, to the right.


the transition part , soft turn, need to be a sum of these 2 patterns.

since the vertical ones are at 0 degres... and the diagonal are at 45 degres....

i ve cut the parts of the soft turn at 22,5 degres ( ( 45 minus 0 ) and then divided by 2)
then that soft turn Left (the blue one) should give that at the end.

I was thinking perhaps it could be simpler than that. See attached screenshots.

Shot 1 - An edge.
Shot 2 - A diagonal piece that goes from corner to corner.
Shot 3 - How the two line up.
Shot 4 - Rotate the diagonal 180 degrees and you can chain them together.
Shot 5 - Or use just one as a corner.
Shot 6 - Zig zag.

This way, you only introduce one more piece. A diagonal, that fit in the center of a 1x1 square.

yeah it can work, it is just the road would be 'widther (+width?) in diagonal than horiz/vertical. but since it is in middle of the tile and you need to put another one the other side (rotated at 180 , 2x "R") you can trigger a decal and put some road draw texture on the ground.

Hey @RedKetchup I believe English is not your native language, is that correct? In English we would drop the 'th' from width and make it 'wider' to indicate that something had more width. We have such a collection of words in English that were borrowed from other languages that it gets a little crazy sometimes!  ;D

I have a friend who teaches English, he's taught in various countries in Europe and from the way he describes it, English is easy enough to learn but it's difficult to master.
Many other languages have strict rules for grammar, word meaning and so on but English can be really confusing because it sometimes uses half those rules for grammar but throws away other rules, it has no use for gender of words, some words can have multiple meanings that are not related to each other (angle is a good example, it can mean the difference between two straight lines or it can mean to go fishing), some words sound the same but have different spellings and different meanings (weather, whether and wether - all sound the same but have very different meanings).

And then we really try to mess with people's heads with words like cleave - cleave takes the same word and gives it different but completely opposite meanings,
1. it can mean cutting or splitting something apart, particularly with a sharp instrument/tool
2. it can mean to stick together or to hold together/resist separation

In many cases it's because we took similar sounding words from different languages. Using angle as an example again, the first meaning of measuring the difference between two straight lines comes from a medieval French word that originated from the Latin word angulus (a corner). The second meaning of go fish, is from an Old English word for fishhook (angil also spelt angul).
So yeah, not so hard to learn but hard to master  :o

yeah i found it easy to learn... i am in a country who no one can speak it, but still learned it just by playing game and talk with people who played with me.

i would never think i can learn.... chinese... japanese... arabian... russian...
spanish , italian and german maybe. i am far to master english though. i know enough for having people understand me :)

like you say, there is a tons of different meaning.. take the verb to "get" ! they say in our dicts that "to get" has 110 different meaning.... 110 thats alot lol ^^
french is the opposite. with have many words that mean the same thing.  ^^


edit: oh and about "cleave" the only meaning i known for was the ability to make damage to other target in front in same time as your main target ^^ like in world of warcraft ^^

Personally I don't judge language "skills"... as long as a person tries to communicate I give plenty "rope"... I'm not native english either <shrug>.

* And I think German is rather hard to learn, one for all the gender cases, but more so for the tendency to weld together two or three words into one... making for words with 20 or 30 letters  ;)

I'm always very humbled by seeing people struggle to communicate in a langauge that isn't their own, even more so now that I had to learn a second language and have learned what it is to struggle, so Paeng and Red, never worry, just keep doing as you do, you are both very understandable and that goes for everyone else here that doesn't have english as a mother tongue but still does their best.

As for learning or using another language other than my native English, I can count pretty fluently in Spanish and up to 7 in German. That's about the extent of my foreign language skills, well - except for a few cuss words.  ;D

I find that when I try to write something in English (especially if it's creative writing) if I try to leave out local expressions that more than likely won't make a lot of sense to non-Australians and non-English speakers it suddenly becomes much harder and it also suddenly sounds very flat and boring. English is a strange language but it does have a lot of potential for finely-tuned, nuanced expression. There can be 20 different ways to say something and they can all have slightly different meanings.

I don't think anyone here has any trouble with our normal conversations in English, we even manage to have some technical conversations (about modding) without any real problems with the language - we English speakers often forget that over half the people we communicate with on the internet speak English as a second or third etc. etc. language because you all have good skills in English.

But it can be a little tricky sometimes even for native English speakers. As @elemental mentioned, English has a very finely tuned level of subtlety, inference/nuance and sarcasm that many other languages do not reach. This often requires slighlty changing the sound of a word to make it imply something different to what the word normally means. I know with certain European languages, changing the sound of a word often prevents people from understanding it - for example, I found Czech and Polish people had a very difficult time understanding English language phrases if they were spoken sarcastically - because those two languages don't make use of sarcasm anywhere near as much as English does!  ???

I've followed this thread with great interest (it was also interesting before this language discussion started here, totally off topic;) ).

I'm very well aware of the language problems, here I'm struggling with my poor English, but also in life. I live in a family, where we speak 3 different languages. I'm Swedish, we live in Sweden, my husband is German. I know German better than he knows Swedish, so normally, we speak German at home. My daughter lives in Australia and have an Australian boyfriend. Unfortunately, I have no special language skills. I mix things up between these 3 languages: not one German word, one Swedish and two English, more like using German grammar when I speak/write English or if I'm in a room with people of different nationalities, I might very well address a Swede, that only speak Swedish in German or opposite.

Not to think about all these subtleties. We do have our own, the Germans also have a lot of them, and the Australians theirs. You all speak so general about English. But as far as I know; it's a big difference between Americans, Englishmen, Australians........ especially when it comes to these small nuances. For us foreigners; impossible.

For this webpage; this international community: I wish, that if someone don't understand, feel offended or hurt by an expression from someone else; ask what's meant. I guess, it might very well be a language misunderstanding.

Indeed... and it gets compounded if someone makes a sarcastic remark in a second or third language (not his native language). Their meaning is almost sure to get lost on the way...

I spent half of my 64 years outside Germany, with English of all flavors - British, US, Australian, Pidgin - so I'm rather comfortable with it... but I'm very careful with sarcasm (at least in non-verbal communication), I have seen too many horrible misunderstandings with sometimes dramatic consequences.

But seriously... many if not most of the non-native English speakers here seem to have no trouble at all expressing yourselves in this messed up language. Some of you had me fooled completely. I never would've guessed that some of you weren't actually native English speakers.

I didn't mean to imply that there was any fault with those languages, just that there is a different method of using aspects of language in those countries compared to many English speaking countries and I found many times when English language sarcasm was not understood by Polish or Czech people (and also French, Egyptians and even some Americans) because the way it's used by someone like me (as a native English speaker but specifically an Australian English speaker), was not something they were usually taught.
I agree with you that their mentality is different to English speakers because the language you use natively has a definite impact on the way you think however I disagree with you in regards to sarcasm in the English language and it's ability to be understood by non-native English speakers.

In the English language we lower the sound, pitch or tone of a word to make it sarcastic whereas many other languages raise the sound, pitch, tone to indicate irony/satire so that creates some difficulties in understanding but more than that, sarcasm is heavily influenced by the culture/society that formed the language, particularly their societal enforcement of status & position. For example, sarcasm is rare in Japan and it's almost unknown in certain Papau New Guinea highland peoples but it's a central facet of communication among the Ju/'hoansi people (also known as African Bushmen) who practice a near total egalitarian life.
In many British Commonwealth nations, who have a more egalitarian idea of status than the oft times class obsessed British or wealth obsessed Americans, sarcasm generally has less to do with a display of emotions or gestures or as a method of belittling/berating someone as it has to do with maintaining a sense of equality between people.

but it is harder to "write" emotional parts in a text, being sarcastic, ironical, joking.... ect to compare the spoken "langage". i mean not "to write" but i mean "to read". i tend to believe all sentence are kinda neutral when i read, and if , some sarcasms has been made.... i rarely notice them.

the only way i know to add some emotional element in a text it is with the "!!!!" exclamation marks ^^ or emoticones lol

My inlaws & sister are in the UK, and I don't get to see any of them much.  :(

The other thing I thought of, with Kid's bakery & small 1 tile dairy, and a mini dairy & butcher by you, they could all fit under one of your large ghosted barns :D :D :D  that would look awesome!

All the big butchers have already only 1 bannie working so there is no difference. and we cannot change the numbers cause the number are inside the meat files...
it will certainly a bit more working units than originally with the big ones :)
