NMT3.1Series: Canal Set - Radeon for 1.0.7

This is the version RADEON 3.1 for 1.0.7 of the famous Redketchup's Medieval Town Canal System.

This is a modified version for AMD/Intel cards, if you are a Nvidia graphic user, i suggest you to pickup the original Nvidia version.
if you are using retail 1.0.6 Banished, i suggest you to take the 1.0.6 version.



Description : All the canal pieces have been 100% remade shrinking the file so much, now you have 8 different skins for your canal system. Depending the texture you will use, it will cost you stones, bricks, or wood to build those.

Textures:
CL: Classic Stones (NMT).Use stones as primary material required.
OS: Old Stones (CC). Use stones as primary material required.
RB: Red Bricks (NMT). Use bricks as primary material required.
SB: Sand Bricks (NMT). Use bricks as primary material required.
FB: Fire Bricks (GW). Use bricks as primary material required.
OC: Old Church Stones (GW). Use stones as primary material required.
DS: Dark Stones (New). Use stones as primary material required.
OW: Old Wood (New). Use wood logs as primary material required.

all costs are harmonized thru the 3 different sizes now (4x 6x 8x). it will cost you the same to build any different size.
Many pieces cost a bit more than before, but some like the trading posts cost extremly less than before (rougly 40% initial cost).

When you are building your canal system in game, i strongly suggest you to pause your game and check what you are doing. all the footprints have a blue arrow on the ground which will tell you the direction of the flow.

All the Canal system pieces are using now the new Bartender's Flowing Water technology ™. Thanks ALOT to Bartender for his awesome discovery :) And Thanks you to Discrepancy for his* fix for AMD/Intel users.

Again, this is 1.0.7 version which mean Clay and Bricks are using Material/Construction flags and limits.

The Clay pit and the Kiln to make bricks are not provided with this mod but they will still available thru traders.

Version 3.11 Bugfixes :

- Fixed all the 6x Watermills 3D. The terraforming wasnt done properly.
- Fixed the Classic stone 8X Watermills. The 8x wasnt scaled properly, they were still in 6x.
- Fixed all the 4x 6x 8x Watermill reversed footprints. The reversed water versions didnt had their good footprint with the blue arrow going the other direction.


Sorry for the bugs.

Thank you @RedKetchup even though with all those great new textures you make it harder to decide which one to use.  ;D

Just played with the new canals... they are AWESOME! (see here (http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=1593.msg35456#msg35456))...

Right now I'm kinda obsessed by the idea of pumping water up and down, connecting canals and irrigation and stuff... it's so much fun!  :D


Someone mentioned the DS Waterpump - I must agree, that woold be a cool item to mix with the canals, with all those pipes and stuff -

Like that it would need to be ghosted though, and has no function... maybe you can think up something  8)

PAENG,after that we need a new stone texture that is mixed size stones.like when they used to make the old stone fences and cellars.they used the stones they found and they were all different sizes and shapes.more like the wall with the pump.i do like how RED varied the colors of the rocks.

do i see 2x bad terraforming in this picture ?

and about the water pump... that grey stone wall is coming from the pump itself ?

It would also be really great if we could build specialised trade ports on canals. CC, Discrepancy, and Kid have all made their own trade ports. Also CC has the logging barge which would fit in perfectly with the canal system. Maybe a collaboration project?

the problem i forsee with this is : each specialized port need to be multiplied by 8x textures, and re-multiplied by 3x size. so each specialized need to be made in 24 copies EACH.

you wouldnt be able to place those. same thing if you try to place those presently in middle of the land. they need "Water" and/or "DeepWater" tagged tiles.
if you put a "water adaptor building" there, then you wont able to use the tiles because it will already be owned by a another building(the water adaptor building) exactly same if you try to put a trading post over an house or a market.
and you cannot tag a tile with a ghosted object.

No rush, no pressure. You have made something very special for the game and it's great the way it is. But of course integrating your canals with other mods would me a great mod even better. :)

they have access to everything i do, i already posted my code source since 2-3 days :)

I was already tempted to maybe do this with the water pump and a few jetty pieces, so after seeing @Paeng 's picture I will have a go at some point. I do love these canals.

Hi Red.

I adapted one canal piece to see if I could make a connector.

All is well so far but what is that watermurky texture attached to?

I see only one plane (WaterMoving) in your mesh and it seems like the Watermoving has a watermoving texture attached to it.

If I put the channel piece down I see a dark blue square at the bottom and the sides from the bottom of the sidewalks are just the green ground texture from Vanilla.  But if I put one of your pieces down the walls from the bottom of the side walks to the -4 depth is also dark blue.

I hope it is clear what I try to describe. And to be clear. This is the Radeon thread but I downloaded the NVidia set.

Here a picture. The right side is mine. the left side is yours. Don't look at the wood texture (Deformed) and a lot needs still tweaking. You see your walls are blue too and mine is not.

No, the pump is not plopped... I just held the piece in with the mouse and then took a screenshot without UI... actually the pump is on some red (impossible) squares... it was just to show how well the pump would fit the theme...   :)


@Brad - no, I feel it would not really need a complete new texture (skin), not everything needs to be totally uniform and "neat"... I'm fine with other pieces using a slightly different stone or whatever (built at different times etc.)   ;)

my thinking too. i didn't mean for REd to change all the pieces he has done. that would be insane. i ment that a rough mixed stone texture for some pieces might be nice.as you say then it isn't all uniform and overly neat.like for a piece that the pump or different traders could be added onto

i built all the pieces with 2 planes of water. 1 was the living water, the 2nd, just -0.1' inder the water with a blue water texture. it was destinated for the radeon version. i intented to put those for that version so if i didnt want to redo everything.... i've put them there right from the begining, and just before to save the nvidia version , i deleted them ! i saved tons of hours by doing this. put there and delete instead to redo everything to add a plane.

yeah thats the terraforming and game engine that do that. if you dig far enough, the game change the color of the slopes and the bottom to dark blue color. Luke did that to help his water lakes look better. there is no way to dig that far without blue color. it is integrated into the game.

I hope it is clear what I try to describe. And to be clear. This is the Radeon thread but I downloaded the NVidia set.

if you use the same parameters in code as me : quarry at -4.0 .. and you place the "floor" mesh as deep as me... and if you cut the wall at -1,98' like me...  you should get the same effect.

I loaded one mesh of yours and only changed the string table and such. Recompiled and there is a difference still as seen in the picture.
Probably a little thing I overlooked. If I ever get bored I shall look at it again.

It does not really matter anymore because I can use ghosting or your overlap technology so not need to touch your canals at all besides to use them as a guide for the right placement of the ghosting.
I learned a lot though from the sources though :)

i was going to answers about the other previous post about the dark stone canal..... but when i tried to quote.... i cant find anymore the post lol. (like if it got deleted^^)

the dark stone looks awesome with the marsh swamp terrain color. but unfortunatly, the setting thats come with is full of lakes everywhere in the map :(
i wish i can find that texture and add it to the game with valley settings, without adding all those lakes.
