Title: Floating Gate
Post by: kid1293 on June 10, 2017, 07:43:52 AM
I happened to see a strange behaviour I didn't know about.

This is the vanilla cemetery. When placed close to a hill (walkable) the gate is floating. ?
You can see the ground is flattened but the gate still hangs at original land height.
Is there a workaround ?

Yeah, it's always been like that...  :(

The only way I know is to flatten the ground before building the cemetery.

OK. I have tried changing the code but no luck.

Sad, some maps have many 'bumps'. I guess planning ahead is the only way.

The funny thing is, I don't think I ever saw that anywhere else... it's only that dang cemetery gate... go figure   ;D

EDIT

Oh wait - I think it can also happen on the pasture shed...

I had a couple times a floating vanilla barn.

The fun part was that it was the one Luke places on a new map. By loading another map all was fine.

The game have some glitches on some maps it seems.

Yeah, I think mostly they're just lousy flukes...  :)

But with the cemetery it's kinda 99% it'll happen...  ::)

I think if the parameter flatten (maybe more) are set in another file before placing footprint
this can happen. Cemetery and pasture has a governing file before calling all the parts of the fence.
Height parameter is not updated for the build.

Maybe the same with start barn. It is called from start conditions so the parameters about the
flattened build area are maybe not saved.

Just talking to myself. Better go and flatten the map. :)
