. . . he may as well just throw out the crop rotation itself.

He did throw out the crop rotation. There is no need to rotate crops.

I know. I was just going through what I seem to recall he wrote in the blog post about it. If the effect with and without it is essentially the same, he could just as well throw out the whole thing, and that is what he did. Think it was a good move. Imagine keeping on top of that in a village with 5000 people (at least if he didn't put in that automatic crop rotation scheme).

I will go even against .. but I would have liked a seasonal rotation automatic that changed the layout of the "colors" of the game!
if you find grammatical errors have to be angry with GoogleTranslate! however, I am studying!!

believe it is possible to create a mod that removes the fences to the farms releasing cows, sheep, chickens, pigs and llamas? so that they can graze like deer? and avoiding their violent deaths at the hands of man?  :-\

Somehow I can't imagine many players using this mod  ;)

Bobbi

I would probably use such a mod in a few games. Not vegan but lean in that direction. Would certainly be great for vegetarian challenge.

I was responding mainly to the idea of building pastures just so the animals could be let free and never used. It's an interesting idea, but....??

Bobbi

I guess I thought @assobanana76 meant that the cows would produce milk, but no meat or leather, Chickens eggs but no meat, and sheep wool but no meat. Not sure if this is what is being described or not.

we say that this could be a compromise ..
also a mod that takes in the pens but without killing them would give you the ability to create vegetarian villages ..
actually my personal idea would be to let them live freely as nature created them ..

Domesticated livestock were not created by nature.  They are the result of thousands of years of human selection.

forgive my ignorance .. do you mean that cows, sheep and chickens are...?

Today's chickens are so "modified" that they can't truly live. They're "made" to grow fast and get volumous, so their legs can't handle the weight properly. Sort of the same with many types of dogs. Some can't breath properly, others have defects with their legs, all kinds of wacky stuff.

assobanana76

ok .. but if the modificated chickens eat little not get fat ..
currently they get fat because they are stuffed with food and antibiotics ..
Unfortunately, we have reached a point of no return in today's world ..
but in the game we can talk about a "heaven on earth" ...

It's not just about food in makes them big. It's a huge industry with lots of money in it, people must be fed after all, so they have tried to make it as "efficient" as possible. That means they grow fast and get quickly 'fat', so they can be slaughtered quicker. Sometimes it's done with gene modifications, but with chickens I think it's a more "natural" process through breeding individual animals with certain characteristics, and then doing that over and over again for a long time until they are so specialised they can't even stand on their own legs. It's sort of a perversion of natural selection.
