Pulled the file and after adjusting my Linux start up script, have it working just fine.  Notice that there is a reorganization of the score board.  Textiles?  Help system doesn't know about them, apparently.

Everything went smooth as glass until this afternoon just before my hourly save when the whole program locked up and became unresponsive.  I had to boot, so any diagnostics I might have got were lost.  I'll restore the game from the previous save and see if I can get this to happen again.

Since that last, and only, crash things have been going well.  The department of dirty tricks seems to have gone away, or at least you can see things coming at you now.  My little village is spread out all over the adjacent hills and has finally gotten to have more than 100 inhabitants.  With the system running as slowly as it does, this has taken the whole month of January so far in two and three hour sessions.  I have pretty much unlimited patience, but I do housework between events in the game.  Being thoroughly retired and somewhat shut-in means that I can spend as many computer hours on it as I like.

Had another random "stopped responding" failure today.  Interesting that I was able to get control this time and kill the program.  After a restart, I passed the point of failure but I suppose the random events were different.  Because I am running with Linux/wine (decor set to Windows 10), there could easily be some hiccup between the code and the wine layer.  I was unable to get a dump.

The course of true love never runs smooth.  Through an interaction with another user on another game, I discovered why my system had not upgraded my wine layer past 1.7 when the current beta is 1.9.  The winehq developers have changed the way the distribution is done.  Probably for down-line compatibility reasons.  So I passed a few handsprings, erased the old version with care, and got the new one to install.  Works the same as before.  Very slow at 10x.  Currently running:

Ubuntu 14.04 LTS with wine-1.9.3

And so, back to my village.
