Title: Work in Progress : Rise of the Pharaoh [Mod] Discussion.
Post by: RedKetchup on January 25, 2016, 05:49:10 PM
 ;D Hello everyone !!!

That's it ! My new project :) Rise of the Pharaoh. (http://worldofbanished.com/gallery/37_25_01_16_6_59_55.png)

Rise of the Pharaoh is 'Egyptian theme based' mod for Banished which will be best played on [CC : Desert maps].

Where i can start to show all i did?
When we think about Egypt , we first think about Big Pyramids (it will come, not done it yet).

So i will start by what i ve done first :) Statues and Sphinxes

so far i did 8 statues and sphinxes. Some, like statues, are standing high and tall, and some, like the sphinxes, are long and big.
all statues and sphinxes will be offer in 3 different sizes :) Small, Medium, and Large.
- the statues will be 1x2 ; 2x2 ; 2x3 tiles (130% bigger than the previous)
- the sphinxes will be 2x4 ; 3x6 ; 4x9 tiles (150% bigger than previous)
of course, each size will cost more and more stones and work/workers to build.

enough talking , lets show you the pictures :D

Statue: Annubis

Statue: Cat

Sphinx: Falcon Head (Horus)

Statue: Horus

Sphinx: Human Head

Sphinx: Jackal Head (Annubis)

Sphinx: Ram Head

Statue: Mummy (mummy style)

-----------

Who talks about Egypt also talks about Obelisks, Egyptian Glyphed Obelisks :)
For the moment i did one obelisk which i provided in 3 different size : 1x1, 2x2, and 3x3 tiles. they all proportionnal so they go bigger and bigger and taller ^^

Let see some pictures :)

at begining i did 1x1 2x2 4x4 , but i noticed 4x4 was really too big, do i scaled it down to 3x3.

------------

On one of these pictures, i am sure you notice an Egyptian boat ^^. you are right, i did an Egyptian Boat as decoration. to have the merchant use it, we need to setup some animations, and we arent sure what everything a such boat animation needs to work properly in the game, so for the moment it is a decoration and no further plan to do more with it. will see

-----------------

and then i did the housing part :)

Egyptian Common Houses : Used by the common egyptian citizens, this set is coming in 4x4(+1) exactly like the vanilla wooden and stone houses. same size.
i wont do a specialized 2-3 story egyptian because it is not really the theme for it. Egyptians didnt expand alot in high, but more in width and lengh.

Like the wood/stone houses , i did 6 models (maybe more to come later) and they will all alternate automatictly or with "F" keybind
I made them very simple, as they did milleniums ago.

Model 1
(http://worldofbanished.com/gallery/37_25_01_16_6_41_07.jpeg)

Model 2
(http://worldofbanished.com/gallery/37_25_01_16_6_42_58.jpeg)

Model 3
(http://worldofbanished.com/gallery/37_25_01_16_6_44_21.jpeg)

Model 4
(http://worldofbanished.com/gallery/37_25_01_16_6_45_48.jpeg)

Model 5
(http://worldofbanished.com/gallery/37_25_01_16_6_46_42.jpeg)

Model 6
(http://worldofbanished.com/gallery/37_25_01_16_6_47_39.jpeg)

------------------

I am doing presently the Temple part dedicated to the Egyptian Gods :) We all know Ra, Anubis, Horus, Isis.... were extremly important in the egyptian culture.
So I started to make those :)

Temple 01 : <insert god>
(http://worldofbanished.com/gallery/37_26_01_16_2_59_21.jpeg)

Temple 02 : <insert god> (small temple acting like a small chapel)

----------------

This is what i did so far :)
and yeah ... i finally opened my mouth hehehe

More to come as i do models to go with it :)

Awesome work Red! :O

Definitely brings some fresh air to the mod pool, it's good to see some historic mods as well! Definitely eager for this mod! I know it's hard, but I hope you try to make Camels as a livestock option, eheh.  ::)

I especially like the last house with the awning, you really should explore that option more, it looks really really nice!

Really curious as to what resources and shops/buildings it'll have, I know very little about the ancient egyptian times (aside the fact that they used extensive irrigation systems to draw water from the Nile into their crops).

I'm very excited about this project!  It's finally something that looks "right" for those desert maps.  Are you going to do Egyptian temples?  Also they knew how to make faience glass which was made using silica/sand and copper for coloring-so maybe an Egyptian glassmaker?  And that canal system you made would be perfect for this theme!

i wish too (being able to do animals and animal animations ^^

yeah me too :) i know all the 'stores' and 'markets' will have, i am just scared to have the housing part looking too much as 'store' ^^
but definately, the awnings makes egyptian buildings looking more egyptian :)

they effectively had some irrigation technology, but their biggest gifted by gods was the fact, the Nile, every year, once a year, the Nile was getting out of its bed and fertilized the good lands :)

Oh, no you didn't Red :) I've been lurking around for the past days, waiting for any news about what you've been up to. And this is just swell. And for me something very unexpected. I find Ancient Egypt such an interesting historical period, and what you've posted so far looks amazing, so I'm sure this will be one of my absolute favourite Banished mods. Good job! I instantly thought - what about temples, will there be any temples, but I hate asking someone who's contributed so much to do more, so I'm glad someone else brought it up :)

So I looked up some stuff on ancient Egypt. I don't know what time period you are focusing on. Building materials were primarily brick and stone, so those are two industries to focus on. Pottery was big, so your clay mine fits in, maybe an Egyptian pottery shop. They wore linen clothing made from flax, so add flax to an Egyptian tailor. They ate lamb, goat, vegetables, fruit and a lot of bread. They also drank a lot of barley beer.  Bread was made from barley. So some important crops are barley and flax. A new crop should be papyrus, which in addition to paper, was made into sandals, rope and baskets. Jewelry was a big thing, but other than as a trade item I don't know where it could fit in.
This could be a lot of fun....

Temple is very nice. Does it represent the "chapel (200 people)" size?

I am not finding any pictures of ancient Egyptian shops. Probably looked a lot like the houses. Found some quarries and pictures of papyrus crop.

I can visualise a very large cc waterworld map where you create large islands each with their own society.

You could have an egyptian island, a frontier island, the cc pole houses island, and perhaps a druid/celtic/hobbit island.

A multi cultural society all living in harmony.

What you would need however are new trading posts each build to their theme.

Just a thought.

This wip  looks great.

Just did the Egyptian Small Temple. This one, a smaller version ( 5x5 + 1 for road), will act like a small chapel :
- smaller size (5x5)
- less adepts (40)
- smaller radius (15)

There is the screenshot :)

Edit: BTW i will surely go back at some point to add 'statues' when i ll be rdy to do it.

For gods you may want to consider adding Bast (home/harth/health goddess) as you already have cat statues Ptah (god of craftmen), usually represented as human rather then animal headed, and Hathor (fertility goddess-- very important diety in Banished lol) typically a cow

PS.: I love anything about old Egypt (spent 3 years of my life there) - can I please have Nefertiti? (if not, Cleopatra will do)

Hi Red

I am a fan of your mods and still a fan of the "sierra-game pharao".
Here a link for fotos of the game: https://www.google.de/search?q=sierra+pharao&newwindow=1&biw=1318&bih=916&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi0uNSEnMnKAhUL8RQKHRfpDvEQ_AUIBygC
You can see, there are a lot of different buildings. Many coloured, some of them specialiced.
So what your buildings still need is colour.

Really looking forward to this addition.

If I remember correctly they used of gold and precious stones for decoration, bronze for tools and weapons along with copper and later iron. Organized farming with medical texts with diagnosis and treatment of many illnesses. They had a diverse culture with a number of social classes each with their own housing styles and living conditions.

Oh WOW, I am sure looking forward to this addition.

I know it will be fantastic, just like your other work.

So i wish you a very big WELCOME !!! :)

Yeah this Mod will be great !
Great because it's Egypt but also because i have GREAT NEWS for everyone !!!!!

BlackLiquid(CC) and RedKetchup just agreed to team together to make this mod .... the MOST AWESOME Banished gaming experience :)
Right :) BlackLiquid accepted tonight to join me in the creation of this Mod : Rise of the Pharaoh.

 ;D  ;D  ;D

----------
about your new comments:

i did those statues because it was a pack i succeeded to find to download. I know CC team have many too :) if still missing some gods/goddess... we will try to find and add :)

i know the building are missing some ... colors. i know. but keep in mind, that arent finished yet. it is just the rough baseline (not even optimized) to work with. we will try to add the most details possible while keeping the file size and computer load as acceptable as possible :)

i just did a new big Egyptian Market (same size as the actual market (14x14 tiles)

My idea was to make a big Egyptian Temple a dedicated to the commerce and trades (market)
presently the temple is made, the rough version :) just need to add some stalls, boxes, resources, stuff to trade in middle of it. Filling it with life :)

Here's the first screenshot :)

look at it and imagine trades and LIFE in it :)

Hey there Red, another long-time moduser and newly registered fan here.:)
This has enormous potential, love it! Besides Pharao, I'd also suggest looking at Children of the Nile, which has done the Egyptian style citybuilding very well too.
I hope you will be able to display the highly hierarchical structure of ancient Egyptian society.

I don't know how historically accurate you are planning on making this, but I'd be happy to help on that front if any is needed.
For instance, Camels were not used in ancient Egypt no earlier than the Persian times around 500 B.C., so placing them alongside pyramid builders would be odd.
I'm an archaeologist and aspiring egyptologist so any historical, cultural, religious or artistic questions you might have I'd be happy to answer.
Best of luck n this!:D

@Artfactial  : i didnt planned to pickup a specific time era.

there is already tons of technology in Banished which can make ancient egypt out of time. i wish to pickup the best of everything without too much checking time. When you start a new game, you are rewriting the history and some city will advance faster than other. i just want to give an egyptian flavor to a city built in middle of the desert :)

and i want people to build a new wonder too in the game (after the great NMT Cathedral) ... i want people build the pyramids this time :)
and i want them to build temples... pharaoh tombs.... i want people make marvelous cities :)

while ShockP is taking care to put stalls and stuff in the big temple market... i did a very smaller version of a vendor . not sure yet what it will sell... it also can be use for many utilities....

it is not done yet, need to do the builds.....

i am learning alot (in 3D presently, some precious new tips from Shock :) hehe)

i also jumped on the new barn :) the code not done yet but you can see the 3dsMax screenshot :)

I think this is a very good idea, not trying to stick to closely to any particular time period. It is a fantasy Banished universe. It should have stuff that most people think of when they think of ancient Egypt, which would include camels if that is possible.  ;D

Papyrus I already suggested as a new crop to make baskets and rope and maybe other stuff you dream up, but writing on papyrus is what most people think of. I don't know if you can do anything with that.

If CC team is going to collaborate, a new Egypt start on the desert map would be really cool, with starting crops of papyrus, barley and/or flax and if we get the camels, those, could give milk and leather. Wouldn't that be awesome?!!! 8)

Great news all around, one thing to consider is making some of the buildings modular, religious and civics would work well, as would eventual monuments. It was common practice for one king to add on to the work of his predecessor, Karnak took like 1500 years or more to build. Its nice to see you know that colors are important since most statues and temples were actually painted like the scenes we see in the tombs. With such a long history its easy to find examples of buildings for what should be a thematic, rather than period mod. Also to consider the industry related to naphtha. If you need help in research, I can do that.  :)

PS: 'K' made a small mod 'irrigate' that works well, (its one of those he lost, I think), that would be a nice starting point for water management.

About the cemetery, you could change the grave markers, small obelisk and box like markers, possibly a statue, and high wall, (mud brick), and have some mastabas as decorative additions for the richer people. Pyramids were very rare among the non-royals, but if you could afford it a mastaba was the common choice. I would avoid the passage leading down to a tomb as these were always hidden, if you could afford it then, you tomb was worth robbing. You should also consider a guard house or hut with a happiness factor since most cemeteries were guarded, maybe with the same function as your library, but with a very large radius. You should also have a small funerary temple where people can leave offerings, again with happiness factor, it might work like a tavern, but with offerings as a luxury, that gives you an idea for an industry, made with pottery, linen, ( mummified animals), and resins, hey there is an other industry for you: resins.

Very nice building, totally in the right style, what is important to remember is the flat roof, its limiting but thats what it was, and roof access also, so I would add either a ladder or steps, people would sleep there in very hot weather, and do many other things there too.

On the mastaba: I found some very nice images for you, it seems there were 3 main types, which you could  reproduce, with 4 buildings, tiny 2 by1, small say 2 by 4, larger size for officials, something lake the church in size, as you can see in the images, and the princely one as a monument, (its the one referred to as 3504). I also found a nice offering statue (idut8), which you could use as an add-on to the side of the larger ones, it could also be used in temples if you go with the modular approach.

I also looked into housing, and found a few images, basically what you have is a flat roof with stairs leading to it, most any size will do and you can add the different elements like granaries, gardens and animal pens as needed, again if modular there is more choice on how to build them. I also noticed that many industry structures don't have a roof, so that might be something to look at. One thing is important, walls, it seems that everything is enclosed.

In the general folder you can see some interesting architectural features that could inspire you, (dp108489) shows what you could use in the cemetery, a stone marker, and a small statue. The rest I just found interesting on one guys site.

This is such an interesting project, and with your attention to detail, well worth helping you.

Its easier to share this way: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzHkvl_n1VXXYnJPX2YydHdqX1U/view?usp=sharing

Hope this helps.  :)

I think you should consider adding roof access where I have indicated, so they can use those larger parts of it, maybe stairs for the lower one and a ladder for the top. It has to be an architectural feature of buildings where people live, that way it can stand out from storage, or religious buildings. Just a suggestion.  :)

Very nice barns, for these you don't need roof access.  ;)

Temple Of Bast. I can't found better sample.

That is a temple gate, which are mostly similar for all the gods, what changes is the decorative images and the statues inside. You can use it for most temples. I found some nice images of temples and their main gates, including plans, sketches and pictures of models. I also included plans of Karnak as it is the biggest and best documented, it can serve as a model for buildings of many sizes. You can see that a temple could have several gates depending on its size, if you stick to the essentials of the form, most anything will look good.

Making the stones smaller is a good idea, but overall its very nice road texture, the mix of colors gives the impression that they are using leftover stone, which is great.  :)

Maybe try to have both, big for primary (main) roads, and small for secondary (cobbled) roads...

more building i am making and more it is starting to degrade :(

i am always using same texture everywhere so .... alot of building with same textures.... it starts to not looking as good :((

so i am trying to get a new texture to change and i would maybe have this one. i think this one looks cool , old , dirty, but cool.

if i do the house set with this one.... the other bigger building can look not as ... redundant

The colours look good, but if your need another texture why don't you try a few soft pastel shades to liven things up a bit.

A bit of soft colour might make this theme that much better.

Well, yes - you cannot make a large set of different buildings with just one texture  :)
Textures are the spice of mods - the more variety, the better.

It's fine to stick to a basic tone (here: the sand stone), but there should be different shades (lighter and darker), different graininess (rough and smooth), different weathering (grunge), different color accents (e.g. the awnings, tents etc.)...

That way the different structures come alive, have their own identities...  :)

Since this is a desert mod maybe add some random sand on the roofs of the buildings. I'm sure the peeps are working so hard for the Pharaoh they don't have time to keep everything neat and clean when sandstorms blow sand everywhere.  After looking at the hunderds of photos from the era I believe most of the homes would not have straight building corners, roof edges, etc. because of the blowing sand wearing away the sandstone & limestone. Also (if possible) the stairs should also look worn from all the sand especially in the center of the steps where the normal walking path would be.
RofP is a REALLY GREAT new direction .... THANKS !! RK !!!

Many buildings should be made of mud bricks, so you could reuse some of the brick textures in NMT, but with sand and dirt colors, having different sizes of bricks is also a way of making them look different. There is also the possibility of giving them a ruff finish to simulate wind erosion. You can also use granite colors to vary the mix. Don't forget things like painting them in bright colors too. I can do some research tomorrow and see what colors would be best. I think yellows, reds, and white plaster could work. Polished limestone is a very shinny white, which is how the pyramids looked, almost blinding white with a gold plated topstone.

If I might make 1 or 2 industry suggestions.. Cosmetics and perfume/ incense. Cosmetics could use animal fat and herbs/berries/charcoal. Perfume could be made from a variey of things, the simpelist maight be added flowers as a gatherable or growable.
Title: Re: Work in Progress : Rise of the Pharaoh [Mod] Discussion.
Post by: Denis de la Rive on January 30, 2016, 09:59:20 AM
So I did the research and found many examples of mud brick textures, some images are small, but the color comes out well, others give you an idea of what I mean by ruff surfaces. The color depends on the original material, so there are many choices that can be used, and as I wrote above brick size can also be used to vary the textures.

I found the basic color pallet, which I have also included. I found a nice web site that explains the meaning of each color, if you need that.

I really like the look of your mod so far but don't forget that the wealthy Egyptians had shining white limestone, bright paints, and cloth while the poorest Egyptians lived in mud brick hovels. Most of your buildings seem to be sandstone ("lower middle class"). As ugly as Children of the Nile is, it still approximates ancient Egypt to the best of its graphical abilities. Your mod could be the best depiction of ancient Egypt if you included F-variants with quality textures with similar color schemes to CotN.

This is my favourite building so far! *.* I imagine downtown egyptian streets being full of random objects everywhere (with crates, cartwheels, vendors, etc. all arround you) and the temple area with all the high society being a bit more organized and dull, with less things cluttered all over the place.

Also, remember that most egyptian houses were not that square-ish, and were more rounder around the edges (because they were made with clay and adobe and other less durable materials). Like this: https://www.google.pt/search?q=egyptian+barn&espv=2&biw=1366&bih=667&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjd_sWDqtXKAhWJfRoKHXuiANIQ_AUIBigB#tbm=isch&q=egyptian+houses&imgrc=_

AWESOME! :o ;D I really like how colourful they are, definitely adds so much variety to the towns!

Minor suggestion - they could have an old wooden door (albeit I don't know what the final effect would be). Alternatively, they could have some sort of curtains, like these:

I agree all you need now is a  shaduf

This is an ancient Egyptian device for raising water from the river .

http://mrzimmerman.org/New%20Folder/HW/Egypt%20Unit/shaduf.htm

You could then use a small aquaduct that allows the water to flow to fields or to a village.

The water could then be poured into your fishing pond -- slightly modded to act as a water reservoir

Red

Here are a few more ideas to compliment this theme.

I imagine you have already thought of some if not all of these.

Nile Perch for a different style fishing pond
An Alligator farm for meat and leather – different animal enclosure
Date Palm for food and firewood
Horse and chariot – even if it is decorative only
Embalmer with associated products – fluids & oils
Different type of stone quarry showing large building blocks to be used in the buildings.
Palm leaf roofed shanty for the poor
Different type of gold mine – Egypt was famous for its gold and precious stones
To that end different buildings for gold smelting and jewelry making
Papyrus for writing
Feathers for writing quills from a modified duck hide  ( CC )
Dye press for colouring linen
An old timber or stone aqueduct – perhaps a raised earth channel to move water from a Shaduf
You could even have a Roman garrison with the appropriate weapons displayed on racks near a barracks
Would it be possible to have fireplaces that actually smoke and have an orange flame, or lamps with a flame?

So many possibilities – I can see why you're getting excited about this project

I imagine given time we could all think of a host of other ideas that would be perfect for this theme.

So far everything you have done is looking great

Cranes (flying or only walking), crocodiles (only in or near water), and lions (rare) could be the animals to hunt.

Realistic-looking Nile papyrus reed banks could be made from 2 reed and 100 construction turns and yield reeds or papyrus.
That shaduf irrigation lever could yield water like the water tower.
You could lower triangle counts by adding doors.
Dates could be a new orchard crop

When I make Skootenbeeten (part of Nueva España, which will come after Narrow Houses, which I have to redo because I lost some files and the windows are too narrow, and 1.0.5 hasn't been officially released yet), I will give you a black and white recolor for the Egyptian cranes. Peacocks and guajalotes will use different animations because they are shaped differently. They will also be my first animals. I want to use transparencyin Industrialized Cities so I'm waiting. I'm also super busy.

Good luck! I wish you success with your buildings. Remember that mud bricks, rough sandstone, and polished limestone/alabaster look different.

Off Topic below
Nueva España buildings will be easy, so will my redone narrow houses. The hardest part will be finding time.

Making a good (looks good and doesn't use too many polygons) model that can be textured to look like the birds below will be difficult.

Egyptian Crane

http://www.sfzoo.org/images/gallery/crownedcrane/img_crowncrane_mw_large.jpg
Skootenbeeten

Guajalote (wild mesoamerican turkey) and peacock will be easier (except for the animation of a strutting walk and occasional furling and subsequent unfurling of the tail feathers). The crane animation will be easier (walk, sip (sipping bird), walk, spread wings, repeat)

What is the building on the right?

The temple is taking shape but I can't help but feel it needs more ornamentation to give it a bit of a lift

Needs some cream-colored alabaster (polished limestone) instead of sandstone (whiter next to the Lapis Lazuli and light tan elsewhere). Possibly a big glyph or pattern (could even be a reed or palm leaf pattern) on the big wall.

Other than that, it looks terrific and beautiful!

it is the new normal barn

3 different size of barns : normal , medium and small

It looks beautiful! I couldn't tell the front had windows before, though now I can tell the tallest walls look blurry/stretched. Maybe use a lighter sandstone texture or even a picture of (tan/pale yellow) beach sand and make sure it keeps a roughly even stretch in both directions.

Post by: RedKetchup on February 05, 2016, 09:27:22 PM
should look less stretched now ( i turn the UWmap of 90 degres on these walls)
it was a 512x128, i ve put the 512 on the tall sides.

I'm not sure how 'historically accurate' this would be... But I look at it and I can't help but feel it needs a wall around the outside, to enclose the rear area more... To pretty it up, maybe put some mini planter-garden type things along the walls (Potted date-palms in the corners perhaps?

the Large Temples will have a such wall around and maybe more inside like water pools....

being bigger, more place to put things :)

these screenshot show you 4 alternate versions of the Medium Temple :)

screenshot 1:

- left : Anubis
- middle : Bast
- right : Horus

Screenshot 2:

Very nice, actually awesome, excellent choice of gods. It might be a good idea to have a few platform pieces that could be added, and then decorated with ghost objects. You could also take the elements of the temples and make that into a modular kit, the gates, the columned halls, statues, walls, and future elements.  :)

the statues are already stand alone by themselves, i am not used about the 'ghost decoration' ... but certainly @kralyerg  can do something about it.

about the gods choice : bah everything depends on what god 3D mesh i can put the hands on :P they are so rare, and those free are more rare again lol.
i made a list of golds somewhere....

Quote
i have anubis, horus, bast(in cat form), a pharaoh (style mummy sarcophagus) ... i wish to have Ra, and some others
Isis, Thoth .. Sekhmet, Osiris, Seth, Amun...  Hathor ^^ so many

(and i did myself Thoth from the Horus statue ^^ by taking the nose and make a 'crane/bird nose' with it)

It looking very nice, the color added is making this much more visual.

Just a few notes, generally the overhangs on the gate roof the same as with the market, are just a bit too strange, a flat roof might work better. I think the temple hall should be covered, possibly with a wood texture, (imported from Lebanon), since it is where the holy statue is located, and that should not be exposed to the weather. The ruins we see are lacking this feature because wood will rot, or crumble, if dry, over time. If you can I would place a roof over the gates, it would be more in tune with the general building style.

The water texture is wonderful, I hope you use it with all your buildings. I also agree that the stone texture is very good.

I'm not certain that filling in the sandy areas is a good idea, it might make it a bit too bulky, a bit to monumental, but rather than using a stone texture, you might try a compacted dirt surface, your original texture a bit lighter, or the sand one a bit darker, with a yellow tint.  :)

"You are right, its not clear,…. Simply the elements indicated are not very nice, if they were flat, I think it might be better visually. Look at the other temple roofs, the strait lines are more esthetic. I know that this feature is part of all of the mod's structures, but for the houses its more subdued, but this is not the case with these two buildings, its more of a distraction. It could even be a cultural trait, to not have them on official buildings, and only on housing. Thank you for understanding constructive criticism.

Egyptian architecture was not so blend and beige as your temples and houses . Being under sand has changed it to blend and beige. I recommend adding more vibrant colors, hieroglyphs and all sorts of other things to you your buildings.

Late to the party....

Seeing the Stargate model gave me an idea (likely an undoable one, but hey). The Stargate could be the centerpiece of  a replacement for the trading post... and instead of a ship arriving, a MALP comes through, and you trade through that.

so i passed an hour today to try to push myself back to this ^^

and i tried to add details and color to house 1. Personally i like the change but i am aware that some poeple would not like what i always wished to do to these from long time.

to the right you see the original as i left it Feb 2016.
to the left you see the modifications i did today.

i changed the stone fences in front.
added some potteries.
added curves in awnings, fixed some pikes.
added some color at the exterior roof.
rotated the blankets a bit to make it more random.

we have no idea when it will be available unfortunatly. i am mostly the only one working on this from time to time and it is not easy. one of the biggest problem is the lack of models and images to base our design on. we probably saw too big when we thought and determined its scale. we get easily discouraged :(

i dunno. maybe one day but not sure when.

Continuing thoughts about ROTP from this other thread so we don't derail the other one. http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=3196.15#lastPost

@RedKetchup I understand that you want ROTP to be perfect as a reproduction of ancient Egypt and I salute you for that. But you could use many of the existing domesticated Banished animals in ROTP and be absolutely true to history: cattle, long horned cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, ducks, chickens etc

I know the problem exists for which wild animals to incorporate that don't need to be created and animated. I'll continue to search for any that already exist in Banished and could be used.

I thank you for your continued efforts on the Mod and really would love to see it finished :)

Not sure Shock is claiming it will be a city building game... till last photo posted, it seeemed to me be more an RPG (about ruling a city) than a city building game. Le zoom in and the first person view was very predomminant in the samples we got.

it cannot be a Binished 2 because it is not same developper. :)

and there are some new things like reeds and papyrus... limestones.... mud...

Bricks? Sand Bricks? Quarry stones? There's sand everywhere! Didn't they make clay bricks or something along the Nile River back in those days? And if you believe old movies/tv shows weren't all those Pyramids made by blocks cut from the ground?

thats not the problem mark.

not providing any buildings yet. there is no clay/bricks/lumber/glass yet. it is only the map generation so far.
there always the possibility to get iron with vanilla iron mine (till buildings are set and redone)....

i probably need to pickup the list that need iron as building material and change it for bronze. like church, doctor house, school... and so on. (just the building requirements).

They do mine iron in Egypt, they have for thousands of years. The technique of quarrying granite and limestone was an advanced technology by the time the pyramids were being built. Marble, alabaster, and diorite were used for making statues, basalt for making sarcophagi, and dolomite for hammers to work hard stones. Precious and semi-precious stones that were extensively mined and worked as well included turquoise, beryl, amethyst, lapis lazuli and malachite.

yeah after they learned it and met some new advanced empire like greeks and roman... but in time of pharaohs ?

as i said, the vanilla iron mine is there provided from the game itself. i didnt edited it in rotp.

Rise of the Pharaoh Beta 1 available.

It contains only the maps : RotP Trees, RotP Grass, RotP Food +RKEC Crops-Orchards, vanilla deers.
2 kind of Stone (stone and limestone). Copper, Tin, Bronze, Iron only available with the vanilla mine. RotP Utility spawns like flax, papyrus, reeds...
Ground textutes: Although i didnt choose a special green one yet for Lower Nile maps, i have 3 new ground textures: Desert, Red Desert and Upper Nile.
Starting Conditions: I copied the starting conditions from RKEC XtraLight.
I added / changed some recipes so you can do something (wood cutter, blacksmith and tailor)
i changed some building material requirements to replace the iron with bronze.

I changed the way things are spawning so i will need to get feedback on : How herbalist / gatherer hut / foresters are producing.

Ok.

Maybe expand the blacksmith production panel to show four items. I'd like to know how much bronze I made, and I can easily imagine producing copper, tin, bronze, and tools all in one year.

Also, the inventory panel for the blacksmith isn't wide enough to show the quantity of items in the second column.

Please make the production panel for the forester the same size as the one for the gatherer.

I don't know how I'm going to figure out what the nameless resource is, it is nameless in the barn as well.

Is this thread the best place to put stuff like this?

I was about ready to give up on farming, the heat and dry weather is brutal. But if you make a huge field and put one farmer on, it will take him so long to harvest that the second half of the field will actually produce decently; the growing season lasts indefinitely. I'll be interested to see how a seed other than beans will perform.

I'm wondering now what I'm going to do with all the fodder/thatch I'm harvesting. I'm sure I can turn it into firewood, but will the houses actually burn much firewood in a winter that never falls below freezing? ;)
Title: Re: Work in Progress : Rise of the Pharaoh [Mod] Discussion.
Post by: irrelevant on August 24, 2019, 06:21:40 PM
I made a few bronze tools, but I stopped that because there isn't enough tin ore around to use it like that. I'm going to have to save my bronze to build a TP and fill it with firewood to trade for tin ore. Copper tools, or maybe even just stone tools, is the best I'll be able to provide for some time. But logs are hard to come by as well..... ??? I may need to import them too.

At least my guys won't have a problem walking around naked, it's pretty warm. Besides, I need lumber to build a tailor, and I don't see a way to make lumber. Doesn't matter, cause there isn't much game around to provide leather. I've seen just a single herd of something that comes around occasionally, but that has not inspired me to spend precious logs on building a hunting cabin.

Late Summer, and the bean field is at 9%, but I'm not worried, last year at this time it was at 4%. ;)

Sure is pretty hereabouts, with all the different flowering plants. I love the way it looks.

Alright Red, I'm with ya Buddy!   ;)

Woke up from my nap and I found a great new work in progress has been made available! Thanks for that. I'm here and I'm in. Since I already live in Arizona with extreme heat waves going on I was in no hurry to try your desert maps so I chose to start in the lower Nile region so I can go swimming when I get to feeling hot!  I just got to watch out for those invisible hippopotamus'!  ::) :P

So far I can see that I start with a Corn crop. My Orchard and Pasture needs to be cleared first to see what they offer but if I'm not mistaken I do have the regular Cattle. Not sure what the Pasture seed will be. I started out with 10 adults and 9 children two of whom will need a School right away. I haven't actually started the game yet, the clock is at zero right now and waiting for me to finish this post.

Here are my screenshots and this time I will try to post them like everyone else does. Maybe I'll figure it out, we'll see in a few won't we?  :)

The eldest child Morian age 9 turned 10 and became an adult not even three seconds into the game, so I got an extra Laborer right off the bat. Hopefully I can get her to become the School teacher and keep her away from the Blacksmith.

My Orchard seed is Chestnut and my Pasture is being cleared as I speak. Take a look at the Pasture area if you will; it was during the clearing of this Pasture I think that I too got that no-named item placed into the Storage Barn. You will recognize the ground items/vegetation better than me so maybe you can figure out what that mystery item is. I was going to play ROTP with the Debug tool but I didn't want to spoil any surprises for myself. Sorry.

EDIT: Just a thought here, did you by chance have Tin Ore set to be stored in the Storage Barn? I had a couple of small Tin Ore spots on the ground nearby (very few and far between by the way) and I would think they would have cleared those spots already because I assume I need Tin Ore and Copper Ore to make the Bronze. I see no Tin Ore in my Storage Barn of Stockpiles as of yet so maybe the Tin Ore is the mystery item.

I'm also not sure why I have so much stuff sitting on the ground in the Pasture area waiting to be cleared; it looks like Fodder-Thatch doesn't it? Not sure why it's on the ground when my Storage Barn already has some in it.

EDIT AGAIN: I finally see Tin Ore in my Stockpiles so maybe that's not the mystery item after all. That mystery item is now gone from my Storage Barn so more likely it was an Edible item?

Dang it! Sounds like we're gonna need the RKTownHall patch to fix the Trade Posts and maybe Town Hall too. I was going to enable it at the start but forgot.

Are you finding that Copper Ore and Tin Ore are far and few between or was it just my map and starting area RNG luck?

Crashed out again. I won't touch the TP again until construction is complete, but if it won't let me assign a trader and assign inventory, there's not much point in continuing with this town.

Copper ore is okay, but tin ore is extremely scarce. I just burned my last reserve on the TP.

RKEC Townhall Patch for Necora PineSet 1.05 (http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=489)

You're welcome.

Yeah, I'm gonna exit the game and add that myself before I get too far along. I'm not even at that point yet, I'm just a few minutes into the actual game and I just got my Blacksmith built.  I'm wasting too much time fixating on why my Pasture area is such a mess!

Anyhow, as soon as I can find me some more Tin Ore somewhere I'll get started on making my Bronze for the School.  I don't think I will get that second child to school on time either. Being how uncommon this Tin Ore is in my area I'm thinking I better take the added step at the Blacksmith and make Tin and Copper first instead of making Bronze out of Tin Ore and Copper Ore.  I'm not sure what the conversion ratio is and I don't want to waste any more Tin Ore than necessary.

Title: Re: Work in Progress : Rise of the Pharaoh [Mod] Discussion.
Post by: irrelevant on August 24, 2019, 07:42:58 PM
There's two ways to make bronze. You can use tin ore and copper ore, or you can use refined tin and refined copper. Using ore is extremely wasteful. Refine the ores separately and then make bronze.

I had also reached the unexpected limit with the blacksmith and just bumped everything related to ores etc up to 10000 and it went away. Trying to remember but I "think" when I bumped the minerals limit that was it. Maybe.

iron ore wont appear on the ground.

blacksmith limits :
Wood tools: limit: tools (beta2)
Stone tools: limit: tools (beta1) (beta2)
Copper tools: limit: tools (beta1) (beta2)
Iron tools(iron bar): limit: tools (beta2)
Iron tools(iron ore): limit: tools (beta2)
Bronze tools: limit: tools (beta1) (beta2)
Tin bars: limit: iron (beta1) (wrong should be coal(mineral)^^) (beta2)
Copper bars: limit: Custom5(Construction) (beta1) (not sure i want to change cause RKEC works like this) (beta2)
Bronze bars: limit: Custom5(construction) (beta1) (wrong cause i decided to put bronze at iron limit (and change the name of the limit to bronze) (beta2)
Iron bars: limit: Iron  (beta2)

Red, I'm not trying to tell you your business I just wanted to see if maybe you typed something wrong.

You said Bronze Bars will be placed under the Iron limit and that you were then going to change the name of the limit for Iron, to Bronze. This I understand. Bronze Bars will now be under the Bronze Limit.

But right below that you said Iron Bars will go to the Iron Limit.  Did you mean to say that Iron Bars will be under the Bronze Limit since you just changed the name of the Iron Limit to Bronze Limit?

Just trying to help, nothing more.

Huh? Now I'm confused. The way I read what Red was saying is that he was going to remove the label "Iron"(limit) and rename it "Bronze" (limit) and Iron and Bronze will be under the same label called "Bronze" (limit). That's what I thought he was saying.

@RedKetchup :DThank you so much for inserting ROTP beta1 testing. I would like to add some of my thoughts here - or draw your attention to some new things - will you be able to add something new? but I want to introduce you from the beginning - what do I mean, :P :-[ will you be patient enough and read everything? I divided into stages
Is stage 1 a bit of history? Will  from the beginning of Egypt until its fall?
Ancient Egypt (stegip. Kemet, Black Earth) - a highly developed civilization of the ancient Near East located in northeastern Africa in the valley and delta of the Nile (including oases of the Libyan Desert). During the period of greatest prosperity (New State) including also Nubia (Kush) and Punt in the south, Syropalestine (Retenu) in the northern Asian borders, and Libyan areas in the northwest.
The decline period (the first millennium BC) is Assyrian and Persian domination, and since the conquests of Alexander the Great, the Hellenistic period in the history of Egypt. The last form of ancient Egyptian statehood was the creation of the Roman province of the Nile during the reign of Octavian Augustus (until the Arab conquest in the 7th century CE).

Post by: taniu on August 27, 2019, 05:18:47 AM
@@RedKetchup ;D the second stage - it is more interesting - because it concerns retailing  between Egypt and its neighbors
Commercial expeditions
Wood was imported from Lewant, which was extremely needed, among others, for the construction of all types of ships, Other items, such as silver vessels and products of other Mediterranean (e.g. Minoan) and Asian cultures (e.g. lapis lazuli) have been exported from there since the Middle Kingdom.
In addition to gold, ostrich feathers, ebony, precious ores and ivory were imported from Nubia [14].
Trade expeditions also reached the shores of Somalia, the ancient country of Punt. . At that time perfumes, myrrh, incense, cinnamon, balsam trees, ebony, ivory, panther shortcuts and live animals of the monkey and baboons [15] were brought.
In exchange for luxury goods and raw materials, the Egyptians supplied their neighbors with gold, silver, hard stone and alabaster dishes, various types of linen, papyrus rolls, ox skins, cords, lentils, dried fish, scarabs, colorful faience, artistic furniture [16] .
The units of exchange during the Old and Middle States were: robes and deben, while in the days of XIX dynasty. (New State) a new unit has appeared: kit.

1 robe weighed 7.5 g gold
1 deben = 12 robes (or 90 g of gold)
1 kit = 1/10 silver debena
I have to check it, what luxury goods do we have?Greetings

@RedKetchup ;D third stage
Agriculture
In ancient Egypt, cereals and spelled for baking bread and barley for brewing beer were cultivated, wheat probably appeared only in the Greek-Roman period. In addition, legumes were grown, including lentils, chickpeas and sesame; vegetables - lettuce, onions, garlic; fruit - especially dates and grapes, as well as fodder plants for animal food. Beekeeping was also carried out, and papyrus growing on the banks of the river was made of paper, mats, boats and other items.
the variety of animal species that were bred was definitely cattle, pigs, goats, sheep, ducks, geese and most likely pigeons. Chickens have only been known since the time of the New Kingdom .
fishing and hunting of wild birds seem to be closely related to cattle farming. Performances show, for example, people in the bushes engaged in fishing or cutting papyrus. The last stage of fishing often had to be done with fiber, nets or special baskets or hand nets. Hippopotamus hunting shows are also found, which was probably a necessity, not a sport. Will you add something from the crops? .Greetings

@RedKetchup :D fourth stage
Everyday life of ancient Egyptians
The basis of the diet were barley pies, often served with dried fruit, fish, meat and sauces! The meat was mostly eaten by the rich, mostly lions, antelopes, crocodiles, hippos, fish and various types of waterfowl! The rich who ate meat every day served it with pies, figs, and lettuce often with wine or beer. The poorer ate dried meat and fish with fresh fruit (figs, watermelons) with barley pies.
How did they live
We know the appearance of the Egyptian house and other buildings of ancient Egypt from models placed in tombs. The Egyptians living in the villages lived in mud huts built of Nile mud. They made home appliances from wood or papyrus stalks, a plant that was very popular at the time.
How did they dress
The Egyptians usually wore a loincloth, the rest of the outfit was very scanty, woven of delicate and airy fabrics. Both men and women wore a kind of skirt, the folds of which were collected at the front and put on by the belt. The value and elegance of the outfit was evidenced by the quality of the material and the precision of the folds. Torso in men most often remained naked, women put on their shoulders a short cape, the lower ends of which were tied and held with a skirt. Famous in the whole ancient world, the white of Egyptian fabrics was obtained by exposing the woven material to sunlight. Simple sandals made of wood and hardened leather were put on the feet to protect against hot sand.
Congratulations - I really like the game that there are characters dressed in costumes in the Egyptian climate - but I do not know how it will be with the clothes in the rest? I'm afraid the Egyptians will put on leather clothes? How do you solve this problem? Greetings
Title: Re: Work in Progress : Rise of the Pharaoh [Mod] Discussion.
Post by: taniu on August 27, 2019, 05:51:51 AM
@RedKetchup :D the fifth stage - a bit different from the topics - but I added as a curiosity.
Currently in Egypt, the country's main nutritional crops include:
cereals, mainly: wheat, rice and corn.
legumes: peas, beans, broad beans and lentils.
oilseeds: sesame and peanuts.
vegetables: onions, tomatoes and watermelons.
Of the industrial plants, cotton and sugar cane are the most important. In addition, citrus fruit (mainly oranges and mandarins), vines, bananas, olives, figs and dates are cultivated (2nd place in the world). The reason for this is the use of primitive cultivation methods (the main tools remain: hoe, flail, thorn and sickle, in addition, manual water wheels and pumps are still used) and poor mechanization of agriculture.
Breeding has very little importance in Egypt-the main breeding animals are cattle and buffaloes. They are used primarily as a draft force for agricultural work. In addition, nomadic people breed camels, sheep and goats in the deserts.
I'm interested in, can you add some farming tools?Greetings

@RedKetchup  ;D sixth stage
Egyptian entertainment
The Egyptians attached importance not only to worshiping gods or fulfilling their duties. Much time - especially the youngest - devoted the inhabitants of Egypt to fun and entertainment. Children could play football or play with dolls, while adults struggled in social games and spectacular sports struggles.
Wooden toys were stylized mainly for animals that could be seen all over Egypt. They were primarily a mouse, crocodiles, horses or hippos on wheels. Thanks to the wheels and a piece of string, they could be pulled on the ground. These toys were only for the elite. The poorer children made a mud or clay toy, and later they scoured them in the sun, played with a bit, which was started with a string.
Of the games for adults, the most popular was the net, whose rules are not completely known to this day.
games for adults - these included mainly 'soldier' games, which are all kinds of melee combat and various weapons. Of course, swords, foils or swords were not used. a strong stick and leather covers for the shoulders were enough. Other sports were also organized, namely water fighting. Members of the two teams boarded separate papyrus boats, then each player received a long wooden pole. First you had to move away from the opposing team's boat, and then - take momentum, quickly swim and rock it so that the opposing team fell into the water. It looks easy, but it's not really when opponents do the same.Greetings

i also notice there a lot of things we cannot implement in banished. all we can do is add building, make a resource... and that all.

i ll do only the evident ones...

Egyptian maize (corn) dates back to 4000 BC. The staple crops of ancient Egypt were emmer (a wheat-grain), chickpeas and lentils, radishes, cucumber, lettuce, onions, garlic, sesame, corn, barley, papyrus, flax, and the castor oil plant. Fruits included melons, plums, figs, grapes, raisins, and dates.

@RedKetchup ;D thank you very much for paying attention to my arguments, I don't know anything about corn, I relied on historical sources, I know very well that this is a very long period of Egyptian life? I also know that all messages I send cannot pacify our current game - because this is not possible -? but as I wrote, I will test many mods - maybe something useful - I also noticed tester's opinions - without tools, nothing works, I can still pay attention to lying logs - I have a problem that nobody collects them despite the fact that I marked them with a cross? but maybe some other mods are still missing? I don't know, will I still test? I count on other testers who have more news in this area? :P ;D

 corn :-\
Corn occurs mainly in subtropics and temperate climates, but it is also grown in Canada or Russia. Sufficient temperatures above 10 degrees during germination and 16 degrees during growth. Humidity is less demanding - preferably between 450 and 600 mm per year.
Historically, corn comes from Mexico. It does not occur in the wild, so we owe Maya and Aztecs its existence. She came to Europe with Columbus and spread throughout the Mediterranean.
The most and largest corn crops are:
• in Europe - Aquitaine Basin (France), Padan Lowland (Italy), Iberian and Balkan Peninsula, Hungary, Ukraine, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria
• in Asia - Huang He Valley, Manchuria
• in North America - Corn Soy Belt (Central Plains in the USA)
• in South America - the Brazilian Highlands
•   in Africa
yields
The average world yield in 2013 was 55 dt / ha, over 13 years it increased by 12 dt / ha. Over the past 13 years, Hungary has dropped out of the top ten, and Turkey has come.
The highest yields per hectare in 2013:
1. Spain - 113.3 dt / ha
2. USA - 99.7 dt / ha
3. Canada - 95.9 dt / ha
4. Turkey - 89.4 dt / ha
5. Italy - 87 dt / ha
6. France - 81.4 dt / ha
7. Egypt - 77.3 dt / ha
8. Argentina - 66 dt / ha
9. Poland - 65.83 dt / ha
10. Ukraine - 64.1 dt / ha
Manufacturers
In 2013, a total of 1018.1 million tonnes of maize was produced, i.e. 302.1 million tonnes more than wheat and 277.2 million tonnes more than rice.
Greetings ;D

Hello everyone, I see that Rise of the Pharaoh is arousing great enthusiasm, I remember seeing the images of RedKetchup a few years ago, the movie "the ten commandments" comes to mind when the captive people were required make adobes without chaff; Very good for the mud pit.
As for corn, I can say with certainty that indeed as it has been said here it is of American, Mexican origin specifically, from a region called Tehuacan, and that even its creation precedes the Mayans and the Aztecs, since it is a few thousand of years of hybridization of a plant that still exists in the wild - the teozintle - process that gives rise to many varieties, how I enjoy eating it in hundreds of different dishes!
Taniu very interesting the information you provide about world production, tells us that corn is the most widely produced grain in the world.
An extraordinary mod! Congratulations

@RedKetchup ;D ;D ;D although you have a lot of knowledge about building houses - but I wanted to give other players some information about this topic - I have a question, is it possible to build an Egyptian house - 7 floors? :P :-[I searched for some interesting facts about Egyptian houses, surroundings,  - furnishings of apartments and even surprised me - that the Egyptians built "skyscrapers" -
Egyptian houses - curiosity
adobe-
Adobe is sun-dried brick, unfired. Adobe is made of clay, loam or silt mixed for strengthening with grass or straw, often chopped. The Egyptian house, i.e. a residential building in ancient Egypt, was usually built of impermanent, locally available materials, i.e. sun-dried brick mixed clay with chaff (cf. Adobe), papyrus and wood. They were not permanent, but in a hot and dry Egyptian climate they could serve for years.
The most primitive dwellings used by poor Egyptians were papyrus caves and mud silt. A typical Egyptian house had a rectangular shape. The roof supporting structure was made of wood, walls, floor and clay roof surface.
The interior of the small house consisted of only one room. It served as a warehouse and shelter during inclement weather, as well as during the hottest hours. A small courtyard adjoined the house - a courtyard. The whole was surrounded by a clay wall. The thickness of the walls was significant, it could exceed a meter. The wealthier families had larger buildings with more rooms, and within the walls was a garden with shade trees. The rural headquarters also had a swimming pool - a water tank, located in the middle of the courtyard.
The residences of some wealthier Egyptians were equipped with toilets and bathrooms.
The furnishings of the houses were modest, including papyrus mats, wooden tables, and chests. Baskets and clay pots were used for storage. The Egyptians knew the beds, although the poor were sleeping rather on a reed mat. Instead of pillows, however, they used special wooden head supports.

Egyptian skyscrapers
"One of the reasons for the construction of such houses could be a rapid increase in population and difficulties in finding a place to settle. From the time of the greatest splendor of the land of the pharaohs in the New State (XVI-XI century BC) to the Late Period, beginning in the VII century BC, the population of Egypt increased from 3 to 5 million people "-
Tower types of this type were popular in Egypt from the 8th century BC until late antiquity, i.e. in the 5th century
- How do you best imagine an Egyptian house from 2,500 sq.m. years? The easiest way to go to Shibam in Yemen. There, still within the Old Town, traditional, multi-storey mud brick houses. The skyscraper "in Tell el-Retaba was probably inhabited by one, quite wealthy, multi-generational family. The rooms on the upper floors were protected against moisture. Solid foundations (in Tell el-Retaba their walls reach up to 1.8 m) formed a massive platform, and the utility rooms were higher.

We gotta stick together Moonbelf. We can't give our Mod Overlord reason to think we're flexible. He invented multi-story housing, gave it to us, and now wants to deny us?! Goodness gracious no!  LOL

i finished today the Mud Pit :)

cost 12 logs, 24 thatch.

you can: Gather 2-3 Mud (bucket) or Make 1-2 Mud Brick. The mud worth 1, the mud bricks worth 2. Both are created from thin air... no need of mud to make mud brick since they are only dried by the sun, and not fired in a kiln. The mud is like clay: Material limit. and the Mud Bricks are Construction limit.

it can employ up to 3 workers.

@RedKetchup  ;D ;D ;D Bravo! Bravo! thank you very much for Beta 2, I am happy like a small child who now receives the coveted toy - I like everything around the buildings and buildings - although it is a bit of a funny situation because I mean bear and elk - but that does not bother me - we can squint your eye - because this game is adapted to Vanilla - it tests it and slowly adds other mods to complement the missing buildings - it's a pity that @ Angainor88 -Moroccan Housing V1.1, - no more production buildings added, but that's another story. I hope you Red will add new production buildings to Beta 3? thank you very much. I can't personally buy a big beer with foam, I don't know if you drink beer :P but I'm sending you a small bonus. for working hard on this project. Cheers

Title: Re: Work in Progress : Rise of the Pharaoh [Mod] Discussion.
Post by: magicqueen on September 13, 2019, 10:27:43 PM
brads3, you're correct.  I didn't have storage cart/barn.  Any scenario doesn't have storage cart by default is not going to work.  I tried "farmer" scenario and the description said there would be a medium barn but there wasn't.   I didn't check so I thought there was one in there already.   Thank you for pointing this out.
Title: Re: Work in Progress : Rise of the Pharaoh [Mod] Discussion.
Post by: Nilla on September 13, 2019, 11:48:24 PM
Yes, you are right, the "farmer" option is not what it´s said to be, I just looked and indeed; it´s not playable that way, at least not without additional mods, that have a store easier to build. I also discovered another thing that you need to look into @RedKetchup; I was curious if they had a crop to start with, so I set a small field where nothing grew and clicked on it; crash.
Title: Re: Work in Progress : Rise of the Pharaoh [Mod] Discussion.

yeah some of the special new start condition dont have their barn spawning by the map generator.
it will be fixed for beta 3.

about the things on the footprint : yeah all items left are food. you need a barn for those.
Title: Re: Work in Progress : Rise of the Pharaoh [Mod] Discussion.

There is always an area at the start where there is nothing on the ground that needs to be removed. That's where you need to place your barn.

RED i noticed you did something unique with this. you replaced blue berry with junipers so the various brewery mods use the juniper in place of the blue berry. is this your plan with other items as well with the ROP mod? i realize you are still working in Beta. i am curious to see if all my iron needs are changed to bronze. do you plan to use the same tactic to replace the trees so other odded foresters will plant the new palm trees?

this is not a request by the way. i just found the replacement trick unique and interested to hear what your thinking was. what is next replace apples with mangos?

thatch regrows. the regrowth is much slower here and we still have meadows.  the forester plants new trees but doesn't seem to plant the palm trees.  it does seem to be thick for the climate. it has a huge jungle canopy look.

RED i noticed you did something unique with this. you replaced blue berry with junipers so the various brewery mods use the juniper in place of the blue berry. is this your plan with other items as well with the ROP mod?

euh thats possible i did this lol. i would need to verify p

i realize you are still working in Beta. i am curious to see if all my iron needs are changed to bronze.

more i think about it would be a great idea in fact.

just change the texture and call it Bronze. so that way what ever the mod is searching about iron... they will look for "bronze" :)

do you plan to use the same tactic to replace the trees so other odded foresters will plant the new palm trees?

i would need to verify. it should plant palms too. bah in fact they plant trees. and it is 1 tree even if the look , the model, can be very different as a palm or another model.

this is not a request by the way. i just found the replacement trick unique and interested to hear what your thinking was. what is next replace apples with mangos?

no i cant. some mods have and mangos and apple. they would end with 2 mangos.

thatch regrows. the regrowth is much slower here and we still have meadows.  the forester plants new trees but doesn't seem to plant the palm trees.  it does seem to be thick for the climate. it has a huge jungle canopy look.

maybe the trees have a too big spawn chance and the respawn of grass is not enough high. would need to check.

Thought I'd give Beta2 a try and only using ROTP beta2, cannot get any scenario to have a barn/cart to start. Therefor no food, no tools and bannies die off before you can build a mud hut, to build a barn. Can't harvest crop from the field because there's no barn.

Do I need another to add another mod to have regular starting conditions? I don't remember Beta 1 being like this.

I´m pleased that you´ve got back to your mods @RedKetchup. I hope you enjoyed your break and will enjoy your new mod ideas even more.

The buildings from RotPh are very lovely and all vanilla buildings that you need to build look odd in the surroundings. I hope you have plans to replace all (or take them away).

You have already shown us a blacksmith, that´s a good thing, a tailor would be as needed. And like @moonbelf says; there´s need for a smaller barn/barrel/crate that needs no mud to make all starting options playable. I would also like to see your idea of an ancient  Egyptian trading port; something spectacular!

@RedKetchup  ;D ;D ;D I am glad that you are working on the project again, I liked the buildings you designed on page 7, I personally would like to add a hotel to the project, a large temple 1 does not have to be for every god that the Egyptians professed -  you already have such a project? if possible, add a blacksmith, tailor, butcher, baker, maybe fisherman or boat builder. which would form boats from a reed and of course a small Oaze, with palm trees and water. Thanks @ Kid1293, which released the mod Animal Pen V1.0 - we have decorative camels. can add to the small Oasis. That's how I imagine the Egyptian settlement. Regards

I just had to laugh when I saw the Stargate. It fits the topic so well.  ;D
I like the buildings very much. Looks really great so far.
