I don't have a teaser [member=9370]darnokthemage[/member]. Was digging into some basic things to maybe get a new framework for my content but last week I worked a bit on Banished again and while testing models, I kept the winter citizens enabled. They look more variegated than vanilla and charming with a Nordic touch. It's not easy to deal with this unwrapped citizen texture file and I could not make it better. So I recommend this one to add for a new citizen look when playing the North and if [member=11285]1[/member] wants, I would like to include the texture into next version.

Nice to see you back [member=4847]Tom Sawyer[/member].

I was little scared that you have quit the whole banished.

I have secretly wish that you suggest my textures.  :D
Do you think they need some changes that winter version, or summer. Do you want summer and winter set. I can make more, if you want change something.
And i could maybe try make more Viking era version, or do you wanna try it your self. But what older centuries go those male clothes are harder to do. Because of the hemline, basic citizens trousers make them look little odd.
In winter set i tried one women scarf to cover all hair, but it not showing like that, it left Occipital side of head hair showing, and because i cant do testing myself its not easy.

I only tried the winter set so far and I find it perfect for the Nordic scenario. I would not want it more specific since they have to wear it from Medieval to 19th century here. And the way you made it works with all buildings, in my opinion. Also with the old Norse style I make for version 7 and as far as I know they had such colorful wool or linen clothing rather than the warlike leather gears from TV shows.^^

How would you like the nomads when arriving in the North? This would be the only different set we can include in one mod. Some more changing connected with gameplay would be great but I think that's not possible without original citizen fbx file.

Ok. Winter set is ready then.

I made those summer sets for 1800s. And summer clothes are more harder what comes to fit every century.  If i would make summer Viking era clothes or in general before 1700s, male outfits would need lots of changes, in style, not so colour.

Those Vikings tv-series? I never care about those, even they used Finnish actors Jouko Ahola (world strongest man 1997,1999) was "Kauko" and Peter Franzén as Harald Finehair, Jasper Pääkkönen as Halfdan the Black. I watch those series like one minute to see my fellow countryman faces in tv.  :D

Those colorful women clothes that i made are more versatile, they fit with light changes in many centuries, they cant be exactly right for every century, but not look awful wrong. Male summer clothes could blend in better, if i just make very simple and poor clothes, but then everything would look too much same on one to another, i don't like that. So if that winter set really works for you, that's good then.

Those nomads, do you want them wear summer clothes when they come. They change winter when accepted, if im understand right, nomads will allways change clothes, that not could be changed without game developer.

If you want to nomads fit every era, i think for male just simple all off white light colour costume with long shirt and belt, footwraps with bast shoes, colours can be different, like something blue, that costume work from Viking era to even early 1900s. Women little colour more with apron. Some same colour with male nomad, bast shoes and not bright colours so they match together with male nomads and get poor look.

If the game would allowed to do this how i wanted, women would changes cloths style different after they get married, when they mourning, what work citizens do, when they go to church, winter, summer, autumn. When centuries change and town get bigger.

That female nomad, not sure is it ready, just examples. What do you think?

Edited the Bannie to make it more "scandinavian, it is based on the 1500s Dacke, but it looks ambigious enough to be pretty much everywhere from the 900s to the 1800s, as Swedish peasants for example clothed pretty much the same from the 1500s to the 1800s (in conservative areas). It looks enough viking to be that, but also enough 1800s to be that. Imagine i based it on is attached.

I think we should base the people on real depictions, instead of the fantasy "generic man with white shirt" or the "generic woman with skirt and white blouse and weird leather jerkin.

When i wrote off white, i mean not pure white thats wrong. "White" is so many variations, but in game they may look all just white. I try to make the nomads use same kind of colors, its hard determine right kind of something light and colors because some colors wont show well on the game, and monitors can show colors differently. Thats why im not have been so presice on them, how wrong white everything is, maybe i should.

They may look very bad and wrong to you, but its not fantasy, i have looked lots of peasants in art and reproductions and those colours and styles are not wrong. At least what i use my sources to do these, its not fantasy what comes to popular meaning of the term fantasy. But might be some fantasy what comes to knowledge on very old centuries what people wear, because what older times, less real life examples research give, and more fantasy come in play to research. And something what is right yesterday, is wrong tomorrow.

But no matter how good and "real" sources are, if "artist" skills are bad. Like i say those are just examples. And im not saying that im some kind of specialist or authority what it comes to this suspect. And when everyone use exactly same clothes its not going to look "reality."

I dont mean this that im offended.

Nice to see your version.  :)

I didn't know these two are Finnish actors. I also enjoyed the series but not so much because of the man faces. ;D

Your nomad styles are very suitable I think. Good if they come in simple clothing without the applications of your winter set and then change to proper style (taking clothes from storage). I also like the darker variant you sent me and the whole summer set. I will test it in game. That's too bad we cannot change their texture by seasons or in a timeline. The only logic we could include are different nomad styles attracted by different buildings like old Norse people by a temple or ting stead and others by a church. But players would probably hardly notice such a feature.

Is it possible to make different clothes have different skins? So for example parkas would look like parkas?

Do you mean that you want me to make new outfits, or you want to try on your own. If you want me to try, could you post some examples, what you want. I could even try to make whole set just what you want. If you think i got skills enough to try?
Or maybe you could do something totally your own, and send them to tom sawyer, and tom could maybe put all the material together what i have done, and what you could do, or tom self try some outfits and make better unity together. In future i might not have lots of time for these.

Outfits i have made, are not perfect at all, i know that.

They are still good tho! I think we have to ask mr sawyer first for his opinion on the matter.

[member=4847]Tom Sawyer[/member] Just wondering if you would be able to release the assets you've finished as individual mods for testing instead of us having to wait for the next North update. I've been especially wanting to try out those frame houses for a while now, as the current residences aren't ideal for denser settlements that demand narrower building lots. Also nice work on the bigger smokehouse, it's much more practical than having to micromanage several tiny ones...although I would still like to keep the smaller one just as a nice space filler.

Thanks for your feedback on the new smokehouse. The small shed I don't want to take away and it will keep the micromanaged way as an alternative. I will look at the frame houses, there were still things to do. Last days I came back to the trading post and want to finish it.

I missed to write a link here, so if someone likes to smoke in the lazy way.. banishedventures.com/smokehouse  :)

I was also using the new smokehouse, and; apart from the already-meantioned weirdness of having a negative amount of meat for a while; it was working very nice.

Thanks [member=14094]gabor[/member], I think it can go into next version with this function. Last days I went through my models polishing and optimizing. I got some new knowledge about graphics in general after looking into other frameworks and it also helps for Banished modding now. :)
