Hi @steve
I am not sure any of us 'knows' what the game is about.
We live it and make new history every day. It is totally open-ended.

You will find a lot of info, though. You're welcome :)

I think part of the attraction of Banished and what continues to bring me back to the game is that it can be played so many ways. It's very versatile. Even with just the vanilla game there are plenty of options - and once you add in a few of the excellent mods that are available the options just become huge.
Some people play slowly and build up complex, dense little villages that slowly grown into larger towns with long and complicated production chains and elaborate town structure. Others play the more aesthetic way, more concerned with their creations looking realistic and pretty and making the most of the deco items that are available. In thee towns, beauty takes precedence over efficiency.
You are certain to find a way to play that suits your preferences and now you have joined this lovely little community you will be sure to find out the answers to all the questions you have along the way. Good luck!
I am not a Gamer because I don't have a life but because I choose to have many.
