My conclusion after testing on how Kid Animal Breeder mod works:
The mod consists of two voucher sheds that take in animal feed and water, then produce vouchers to trade (the vouchers represent the animals). No animals are actually traded. No animals leave the map. The voucher goes to the trading post. So, you are actually trading the corn, the sunseeds, the thatch, and the water that goes into the voucher sheds. The patches and water mill are included in the mod as well as deco food and water. You don't even need livestock, the system will work with deco animals alone, with a Kid Farmyard that has animals, or with Kid Animal Sheds.
Actually, I think animal breeder system would work better with deco farm animals and the pasture fences that are included in the mod. In blog test story #81 Stockyards, I used some deco animals and some real livestock. I planned to trade vouchers for food but the real livestock gives food too, I did not need to trade for any more. I ended up with a lot of vouchers sitting at the trading post. It may work better with bigger populations and a need for more trade items. Would be interested to hear how the system works for others.
