The barn is one of the most important structures in Banished. Yet, as far as I have been able to determine, there are exactly two barn mods: the excellent smaller barn that comes with CC (which I am not going to use any longer), and the very nice, but tiny, Storage Shed http://banishedinfo.com/mods/view/252-Storage-Shed.
Actually, I would just use the CC smaller barn, if it were standalone.
Banished has a need for a standalone mod of a smaller barn, say 3x4 or 4x4 plus road. It should hold 2000-4000, and should cost maybe 60-80% of what the hulking vanilla barn costs.
And can it please not be ugly? ;D ;D
@Nilla I can hear you laughing. ;)
I agree
@irrelevant :)
Besides the vanilla barns I use the same storage shed which is way too small,
but also redketchups NMT grain/coal silo (only accepts grains / coal)
redketchups root cellar (only accepts fruit/veggies/roots)
so there could be another type too.
I just want a barn. Something simple to put stuff in, that requires no decisions or staff.
i hear ya!
the ketchup ones i mentioned are without staff too, but have limitations on what can be put there.
so yeah, we're in desperate need for a store all solution inbetween...
oh i forgot to mention the NMC Castle tower (which functions as barn too)
CC has several different storage sheds and warehouses besides the smaller barn you mentioned, but I hear you, you think we should have more than one barn as a standalone and I agree there isn't enough ones which are just plain generic barns.
ok, gonna check that, gimme a day or 2
i guess you could use picture 7 from the NMT idea forum as barn, with some minor adjustments.
picture 7 ? i was about going with picture 9 :P
yeah 9 could work too.. already looks like a barn yeah.
7 without the chimney and a slightly different door might work as a typical barn too.
so the in-game barn is 8x5 (6x5 + a road both side) and hold 6000 volume limit. (150 vol/tile)
if i do :
6x4 , 3600 vol (4x4 + a road both side) called Medium Barn
5x3 , 2000 vol (3x3 + a road both side) called Small Barn
4x2 , 1200 vol (2x2 + a road both side) called Tiny Barn
is good for you ?
Yeah, these are great; picture 9 is perfect! :D
Look at my last post in 100-challenge, I have no barns, but about 20 storage sheds. They are very nice, but awfully small. I would really like something in between.
hmmmm
almost done the model. just need a double door and maybe some windows :)
i can say .... it is a total .... lifting, revamp or pimping up :)
hmmmmm ;D starting to look sharp :)
'in french : avoir de la gueule' ^^
EDIT: BTW, thats the 4x4(+2roads) Model :D
Those models looks pretty cool! I might use them in game when they will be finished.
omw to testing the 1st one, the Medium Barn of the future ...
Irrelevant's Small Barns Collection Mod :)
once i do the toolbar icons... which i forgot hehe
the Medium Barn - 3600 capacity (4x4 + a road both side) done :)
it reminds me..... original library ^^
similar textures.
screenshots from both sides.... + 1 screenshot to show it is really a bit smaller than the Original :)
gonna scale it down to 3x3 + roads for the Small Barn of 2000 capacity
Great idea, and
@irrelevant, I'm not laughing........much. ;D
how you like that graphic ?
thats the mats , mostly, from the picture 9 of my NMT post.
the Small Barn - 2000 capacity (3x3 + a road both side) done :)
screenshots : 1 alone and screenshot to compare the other .... + 1 screenshot to show it is really smaller than the Original :)
The models would work.
I am a bit sad that you abandoned the turf roof and the small "windows" from the model 9. I like those very much. That model looks really like a viking "long house". But on the other hand this way it fits much better to the other buildings of the game. So i think you made a good choice.
I am the only one, who might like see alternative model for storage barn like those medium and small? But main problem is with compatibility with CC i guess.

i can make a normal one , same footprint as the vanilla, i just need to scale it bigger to match it
and why you think there would be a problem with CC ?
( i've put : _storageFlags = Edible | Tool | Health | Clothing | Textile | Material; )
hi boys, hi red. i saw all your impressive stuff....i love middleage...so i wait to have all medieval buildings!!
however, speaking of barn, i'd like to have 1 single flag barn, of two different dimension. it will help me to fight the mess in my cities...
which flag ? be more precise.
i also made a normal size barn :) (as you ll see in the screenshot)
it is ready to be tested, Irrelevant. (others too ^^)

Irrelevant's Small Barns Collection v1.0c
Redketchup
This is a special request from my good friend Irrelevant. This mod add many new barns models size.
1x 6x5(+2roads) , 1x 4x4(+2roads) , 1x 3x3(+2roads) , 1x 2x2(+2roads) with capacities of 6000, 3600, 2000 and 1200 weight.
If you want me to change anything... the color... the luminosity... the textures... the door... the windows... the roof ... or change 100% everything.... or the numbers.... say it !
and i ll do it :)
bugfixes/Changes:
1.0a : fixed incompatibility with SmallBarn of CC mod.
1.0b : deleted the backdoor access of the TinyBarn.
1.0c : fixed the TinyBarn footprint.
the .ZIP is beneath, under, below, whatever the screenshots ^^
@RedKetchup wow, you work fast!! These are beautiful, perfect, thank you so much! I'll start using them right away. Won't be able to try them out until Wednesday eve, unfortunately.
Merci, mon ami. :D
Un plaisir :)
Laisse moi savoir s'il faut que je change quoi que se soit :)
I will, just as soon as I get the chance to try it! :)
You know i was mean diffrent texture but nevermind, looks awesome. :)
Looks fantastic!
Could you also make one with that lower roof on both sides of the barn? 5x7 size please.
Have you considered using your overlap technology to create a cellar for barns?
no, i didnt expected that suggestion.
@RedKetchup's Irrelevant's Small Barns are perfect! I'll never build another vanilla barn (unless for some reason I want a particular area to look especially seedy). :D
Thank you so much, mon ami. :)
found any error or bugs yet ?
Nope.
Proper imbrication! ;)
the little ones like small barn and / or tiny barn ... do you still want roads in each side ? in front and in the back ?
or prefer me to get rid of ?

What is that wooden house close to this storages? :)
I just added the mod, but I still use CC:GL and there is one conflict that is an issue (for me):
The "Small Barn" uses exactly the same resource file names and so it's overwritten.
When CC is below this mod, the Small Barn of CC is overwritten with yours.
When your mod is below CC, yours is overwritten with the CC one.
Could you please just change the resource file names of the Small Barn only?
so you are telling me they use the name of 'SmallBarn.rsc' ?
is it possible to open " _ " of the small barn mod (in mod window) and make me a screenshot of the lines written in yellow ?
ok, wait a moment...
Edit:
Screenshots attached
alright THANKS YOU
@Gordon Dry :)
gonna fix that :)
in wait........
i offer you .... screenshots of .......
Medieval Root Cellar made with the 2015 technology ^^
Hmm. Neat.
What exactly is the "2015 technology"? ??? *
Are the two root cellars from the last screenshot connected by a spooky dripping catacomb pathway? With skulls in the walls? And illuminated mushrooms?
Edit:
- obsolete - I got it
haha no ;D
the way it works ... it is same as my canals technology ^^
2 more screenshots. i ask to remove the building, and then after it is removed ^^
Ah, this is way a cellar.
There you can get rid off from nasty laborers.
Edit:
oh no, they can jump, I forgot ...

It's a textile market from Slink's Small Markets.

I think the tiny one would definitely be more useful with the road at just one end. Perhaps the small one too but I'm less sure there. The reason for using the smallest barns is most likely a lack of space, and the road at both ends makes them harder to fit in.
ok

oooops so sorry
bugfixes v 1.0c :
fixed the TinyBarn footprint.
Hi Red,
I started to use your new barn in an existing game last night with CC and after a few crashes the barns finally loaded.
The barns look good and are well suited for what I'm using them for.
I made a marina with six ships and I placed a row of six barns adjacent to the quay -- a fishing dock/ small industrial area.
What I have noticed however is how quickly the barns filled to near capacity.
It may be more appropriate to increase the storage capacity by double or triple, otherwise you will have row after row of barns and suffer the same problem found with the game's original barn where it seemed as if half the buildings in the game were barns.
This is a bit of an exaggeration, but I recall games with multiple rows of more than twenty barns -- they were everywhere.
ok, gonna check that
i ve put for the Medieval version : 10k, 8k, 6k, and 4k.
Thanks Red,
That would be much better as it will make everything more balanced.
Its a bit like the days when you had to have 3 wood cutter huts -- now you only need 1
Or when you had low capacity storage areas.
Game maps were filled with barns, wood cutter huts and storage areas -- they overwhelmed everything
