Kid - Ghost Town V1.01

V1.01 - Changed Linseed Oil flag. It will now work with EB's mods

This is a mod with Western-style buildings, it goes well with my Wild West mod.
The idea and the selection of buildings come from Abandoned. She has made a nice
story around these buildings. Give her credit for this!

A selection of buildings in both rundown and restored versions.
Some of the restored buildings require paint to build.
You can either build a mine, dig for gold, and buy paint or cultivate flax,
make linseed oil, and then make paint. Both ways are slow and it will take some time
to restore several buildings.

I have included some start scenarios. The one called Ghost Town has several
rundown houses and some ruins. (see picture) They are specially made for start scenarios.
I made them expensive so they will give some loot when demolished or upgraded. :)

Under the first menu button I have put those rundown buildings that have no function,
they can only be upgraded. They cost almost nothing to build. They are only
to be thought of as deco to make your own western mining Ghost Town.

The mod uses EB's linseed oil and Tany's flax models. Thanks!

Nice idea to make ruined buildings what can be upgraded.
It is at least a bit different then the 10th church or 16th house :)

It was Abandoned who came up with this scenario. I was against paint from the beginning.
It felt nice to do something totally different but I had this nagging feeling -
- Will I have to update all I have done to require paint?  ;D  Crazy thought.

Well, ya, I saw that cool  8) cracked weathered paint but would it make sense for builders to build a building that looked old and run down?  No.  And who besides me would want a version of paint required Colonial Houses?  Crazy thought.  ;D ;D ;D

This looks great

I can see a whole new scenario of town being created using with  style of colour scheme

The shanty town

Old, run down buildings, with a dilapidated mine, trader, old moonshine stills, alligator farms etc
Let your mind run free with possibilities
A place at the end of the world, or for the edge of the map
A place left behind from the more modern, more vibrant, centre of your Banished creation.

I must be doing it wrong...  I've got the flax garden and the paint house built, but no paint.  actually have 2 flax gardens, one making flax and one making linseed oil...  what have I missed? ::)

@adelegarland it takes 50 flax to make 24 linseed oil.  The linseed oil then goes to the paint house - 4 oil makes 2 or 3 paint.  It takes awhile to get 50 flax and then to make the oil.  It is good to have one garden making flax and one making the oil.  It did seem to me it took the bannies a while to get the linseed oil delivered to the paint house but my laborers did not live close by.

555 flax on hand, 248 linseed oil. Paint 0! All pathways from paint house to barn to gardens are clear.

oh dear, that sounds like there is a problem.    We will have to wait for @kid1293 to check this out.  There was an adjustment to the amount of oil needed to make the paint before the mod was released.

@adelegarland - I have loaded and made flax-oil-paint. No problems.

I can not see your computer from here :)

Should not be any problem. As far as I know it is only EB that has linseed oil and I use his numbers.
CC has only SeedOil.

Should be no problem. I checked RK. He has no LinseedOil.
I checked EB's mod and it is same flags and everything.
Very strange indeed.

I have assigned a 'worker' for the paint house.
I have 'worker' in flax field too. If I click one worker in paint house
he may be assigned to flax field. If I only raise the numbers one step
the game sometimes makes strange things and puts him somewhere else.
But there should be an icon above paint house telling it is not occupied.
To avoid this I always set the maximum number of worker to exactly what I want.
I don't know if this makes sense...  ::)

I found the issue!  Necora and Tany Made a flax patch to use with their new flora mod.   I put your ghost town above that and it works!

are all ingredients being stored at the workplace that makes the paint? flax and oil both? if not the missing 1 is flagged different. there are several that use flax. the pine mod has a patch mod for this reason.not sure it would help help even if you aren't using the pine mod.

      CC flax and FLOA flax are different.not sure what it is but they don't seem to interchange. some of KID's tailors wouldn't use CC flax.mod order should be able to fix it, but it most likely will swap the issues of not having paint to not being able to produce something else. could be as minor as giving up a clothing option.

Only linseed oil is needed to make paint. It is a greenhouse with flowers,
I assume they color the paint themselves.

I use Custom 7 ( misc flag ) for linseed oil. Same as EB.
It has limited other use so I have the possibility to grow flax
without making oil. ( tany's flax )

The flax is not in connection with paint anywhere.

Ghost Town's flax grown in flax garden can be used to make linseed oil in the flax garden or can be used in the tailor to make linen clothes.  Tany's New Flora flax gathered from the wild can be used for both flax garden to make linseed oil or in the tailor to make linen clothes in this mod.  I had no problem with storage.

What sources did you pull the linseed oil from Kid?
In my later mods it is Custom0 (Crafted) so maybe Adelegarland have one of my newer mods loaded above yours?

Not sure why I made that change about a year back but I think it was because Custom7 was more a flag for trade only and I had the idea to do something with Linseed Oil.

Just checked some files and it is Custom0 in Unified Mod, Village Production, Production set 2 but maybe my source files in the laboratory are not updated.


Okay, I checked some of my files from the laboratory and I think you used the sources of the separate oil press and it is Custom7 there.
I think I changed it when i made the production sets just over a year ago and never updated my old separate buildings mods.
All my other mods are using custom0.

Since my use of linseed oil is local to this mod I will change and update.

I have uploaded a V1.01 with new flags all over for linseed oil.
It is not savegame compatible! You can take a chance and demolish
all Flax Gardens and Paint houses and rebuild.

 just started to check out your new mods. lots of ths set will match with the WW mod. can you add some of the rustic wood textures from the WW mod to the pastel colored buidings? i think the pastel colored buildings would match the WW set better with 1 or 2 of the post office,corner store,or mayors office house textures. the guest house,jail,and the cottage match really well.

@brads3 the colored buildings were designed to be painted and require paint to build or upgrade.  The other buildings are wood and do not require paint.  The painted buildings were not specifically designed to match the Wild West mod but rather any run down abandoned town but actually they do match rather well as they are.

yeah,i checked both old and new painted pieces.i know you both got lots of work in this set, so i don't mean to sound critical.some buildings match super well.the pastel colored look much "newer" than the rustic old wild west buildings.

     you both have lots of pieces in this and the wagon ho set. i got odd maps with that mod.not bad ,more interesting oddities.my brain doesn't want to work enough today thou.it will be a day or 2 before i say much on that 1.

;D That's because they are freshly painted.  ;D 

Actually, the cracked paint is what started the abandoned run-down ghost town.  The Wild West style buildings were added later as a bonus.  :)
