Title: Street Level View
Post by: irrelevant on November 22, 2014, 07:59:41 AM
We've seen some street level images posted here on WoB before.

Can this hack be turned into a mod?

Unless I've overlooked it, there doesn't seem to be any reference to zoom level in the .rsc files of the mod kit.  So, I don't think a traditional-type mod would work here.  These folks are changing the executable; the downside being that every time you update the game, you'd have to change the new file again (if it was the one being updated), and you'd probably have to start back at the beginning to figure out what to change since the location of the code in the .exe is likely to change with the update.

I agree.  It would be cool to be able to zoom in down to street level.  Those were some neat pics on the sites you mentioned.  I could also be wrong ... maybe someone else will see how it could be done.

I think it is a limit built into the executable, so it requires hacking.

That's a good idea in case anyone wants to try it for themselves.  For me, changing .exe's is not something I'm comfortable doing, but if your tutorial could include what to back up for safety's sake, it would be a nice resource to have available.
