Chapter 9

In spring of year 4, 5 adults with 2 children came off the mother ship followed by 4 adult workers.  Work continued on the glass complex and another tower house was built for the family of four just in time for their 3rd child to be born.  Their son would soon be old enough to attend the new school that was built nearby.  The school had a small open-air playground for the children.  It was well protected by glass walls, but the children would be able to absorb some natural sunlight.  A family of 3 wanted a colorful little house outside of the complex was but they would see that their daughter got safely to school and got to play outside there.  They would be gathering wild foods in the nearby forest; a gatherer's pod was being built next to their colorful little house.

The family of 4 that consisted of an older couple with 2 adult children; they moved into the new shorter tower house that was built by the new market closer to the covered bridge.  An herbalist therapist workplace was set up outside the complex to the north near the 2 tall tower houses.  There was no worker yet; we had some herbs and enough food to keep our overall health at 100%.   Our food supply increased significantly due to our 3 year-round hydro pods.

Chapter 8

It got darker again after the 1st snow fell; lanterns were lit by the doors of the colorful little houses.  The coal extractor was finished and work continued on the hydro pods.  The 2nd one was completed and cabbage was planted.  Squash would be planted in the 3rd pod when it was finished.  The workers and laborers felt safer when inside the covered passages because the oinkers were spotted very close to the west of the complex.  Wild animal could not be completely trusted.

Our lone oinker had not been seen for a while.  Before the snow it was seen headed towards the mother ship.  We thought it would spend the winter beneath the ship protected from the snow and cold, but it was not long before it emerged and returned to its favorite spot by the cemetery.  This time it was not alone, the other lone oinker was with it.

The couple in the 1 remaining survival pod would keep an eye on them, they were right next to the cemetery.  Their pod was also replaced with a colorful little house which was bigger than the pod had been.

Chapter 7

By early summer, the group of oinkers were seen headed north along the west mountains stopping to graze along the stream. We had quite a few connective tunnels built across the covered bridge where the trees had been cleared away; we saw the oinkers from there.  We had 3 areas designated for climate-controlled hydro pods to grow vegetable in.  Building was slow going because we were always waiting for more steel.   A tower house was built at the north end of one tunnel passage for a family that came off the mother ship; the couple had 1 adult child and 1 young one.

We were surprised that the group of oinkers crossed the stream and stopped to graze right by the covered bridge, there was so much activity in the area with laborers bringing building materials to the site.  Had the hunter been working we would have had a lot of meat and leather but no more oinkers.  It was a good thing that 1 hydro pod was completed by late summer and potatoes were planted.  Crops in the hydro pod grew year-round providing a consistent supply of food.

The supply boat came from the mother ship in early autumn just before the 1st snow.  The boat brought only cabbage and squash seeds, we needed leather and wool although our supply of coats was sure to last a while, but it was made up mostly of hide coats.  The temperature was already dropping rapidly.

Work building our hydro pods was going very slowly waiting for steel.  We decided to build a 2nd coal extractor which needed to be close to the stockpile of wood and iron.  The fisherman and his family were moved out of the small survival pod and into a colorful little house by the angling pad before the snow began to fall.  It would not take long to build the extractor.

YR 5 to 10

we hired a group of 12 nomads to begin work on laying the tracks for the train. an EB foundry will be used to smelt more iron. it takes time to clear land and lay the tracks. the workers did take time to gather food. herbs, and more firewood. they also helped clear a 2nd pasture.

the next nomad group digs a multimine to increase our iron output for the track rails.

Chapter 6

We had built another hunting pod down by the first angling pod.  A small bridge crossed the stream to where groups of oinkers were always spotted.  The only one seen grazed by the corn fields and cemetery, never venturing far from there. We were concerned and wanted to know what happened to the oinkers, there were so many.  Yes, eager explorer, they were here when we arrived so they should be used to the harsh climate.  The portal was here too.  You thought they may have come through the portal like you did because there were wild boars where you came from and it was warmer there?  I suppose that is possible, but I think your suggestion that they may have entered the portal and could now be anywhere in the world or out of it is more likely, but still hard to believe that they got past our surveillance.

In early spring of that 3rd year, I took the hoverer out to do a search.  I am one of the few hoverer operators, it takes some skill maneuvering it through these trees.  The hoverer can go up and down, back and forth, and sideways.  Well, I did a thorough search of this mountain meadow area and found one lone oinker a short distance east of the mother ship and a small group of them to the west of town close to the mountains. The bordering mountain are high and rugged; it seems more likely that the other groups disappeared through the portal as you say.

We kept an eye out for the group and reassigned our 2 hunters to other jobs to protect the group and our lone oinker by the cemetery and crop field.  He seemed quite tame and unafraid.

Chapter 5

During our darkest days, the moonglow casts a soft glow on the lake, river, and small streams.  When it snows, that moonglow reflects on every snowflake lighting up our world as if the sun were shining.  The mountains and snow-covered trees are breathtakingly beautiful.

We took advantage of the winter moonlight to catch up on our building projects.  A command center was completed, and town statistics were recorded.  Moonglow had 42 citizens, 23 adults and 15 young children.  An inventory was also taken of all the foods and other supplies we had on hand.  We did not include those still on the mother ship or the supplies stored there.

A 2nd angling pod was built on the lake, and 2 more fishermen were supplying us with much needed fish.    Our hunter had no luck finding oinkers all year; our supply of meat and leather was gone.
