Had a funny one yesterday. One of my labourers starved to death when there was lots of food available in both storehouses and the domicile. This citizen rushed in from an outlying area displaying the starving symbol, arrived at the domicile, but failed to get inside, but dropped dead at the threshold. You would think that workers away from home some distance would at least carry a piece of jerky.
Sometimes stochastic simulations do the darnedest things. Any other stories of strange happenings like this?
In version 1.0.3 (and 1.0.2 perhaps?) laborers were supposed to remain fed unless their house ran out of food ("lunchbox"). Not sure to what extent this actually works, but I haven't had starvers for a long time. They used to be ubiquitous.
Never had one before. Running 1.0.4.
In the vegetarian challenge towards the end (last 5 years) when I was turning a big forest into farmland in a remote corner with pop ~2600-2700 I was having 15-25 laborers die of starvation every winter. I was still on 1.00; very happy when that was over!
Only had one instance. It might be some kind of hiccup in the simulation. Stochastic simulations can do funny things at times.
The only instance of starvation I have had recently was one poor guy apparently went in one end of a barn and came out the other. Got trapped between barn and river (this was in the build as close to the river as possible challenge). I was unable to build a bridge for him fast enough. He perished :'(
