Hello!
I'm new here and discovered the game a few weeks ago, as well as the forums about the game.

I'm loving the game and have already gotten hooked on installing some mods that gave me the immersion I was missing from online games of the same style.

I've read through all the main forums several times and haven't found a mod that I believe would be very well-received by the community: A Zoo.

Nothing too big, just some enclosures and animals different from the ones we have for pastures. It could be a decorative version to simply represent zoo animals.

The mod could come with decorative animals, fences or barriers with some kind of pedestrian-blocking system (nobody wants to visit the zoo and watch an unsuspecting person get eaten by the lion because they decided to wander into the lion's area), food stalls, and other cool items that fit the theme.

The best part is that visiting the zoo would bring happiness to the citizens.

What do you think of the idea?

Anyone up for making this mod?

I'm using some of Kid's mods, and the southeast part of my island has been reserved for pastures.
In one of these pastures, I placed the crocodiles from the mod (Kid - Swamp Legend) with the pond from the mod (Kid - Forest Ponds) and a fence from the mod (Kid - Barkey & Garden Alt).

In the zoo, it could be something like this, but without the hunter. It would be a bit traumatic for the kids to see a hunter killing, skinning, and removing the animal's hide.

have you checked the Nlack Liquid site for the CC Journey mod? the Colonial Chart mod does have an imal decorations of all sorts of animals to use.

I did  a map with a huge zoo. https://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=3136.msg61852#msg61852

used castle walls for the outside fence. even had whales.

Hello, brads3!

I just finished reading your entire journey to build your Zoo, and I loved all the ideas.
Unfortunately, the website you recommended is offline, but I was already familiar with it from the forums.

About using CC, my PC isn't strong enough to run many mods just to enjoy some of the items included in them, as well as additional ones from other mod creators.
I'm not sure if this happens to everyone, but I can't see the images in most of the posts here on the forum, so I have no idea what your Zoo looks like, but I imagined it as I read through your development story.

Thank you so much for the tips and for giving me some ideas. I'll try to build my own Zoo at another time when I can gather separate mods without putting too much strain on my PC.

CC's Mega Mod Deco Animal mod was released in my story #1 Newburg by Kralyerg - find it here:

Our modders were unable to make animated animals.

Here is link to An Empty Square mod you can use to surround an area you do not want bannies to walk through.

Kid Animal Breeder mod has a fence to match the vanilla pasture fence.

Hope these help.  :)

Wow! Thank you so much!

I was reading brads3's story again about building his Zoo to get inspired. There are so many details that I'll try to start with something simpler. But first, I need to learn how to manage a basic village before attempting something like running a Zoo that works well. Otherwise, at some point, I'll have to let the people eat the animals from the Zoo.

Unfortunately, I now need someone who can use one of these files to create the deco mod.

once you work out the basics, much of Banished is roll playing. we make things as close to what we'd like by using a variety of mods. kinda like we fkae some things. in the case of a zoo, much of it is decoration, so has no effect on the food, rools, firewood or other uses the bannies need for survival. the pastures of lilvestock does. the thatch grass that i used for the grounds  did. bannies use it for firewood with my mod order. then I used various buildings for an office and gift shop.

1 thing I recommend to new players is to play the vanilla game and make a list of what you think is missing from the game. then use this list to search for mods later. again, once u have the basics worked out. there are so many mods it is easy to get stuck downloading mods of all sorts of things. having a list in the beginning helps limit how lost you will get.

check the tips pages for ideas and help with mod order as well. mod orders are critical to how things work or interact.

computer limits can be interesting.  i've adjusted my mod order over time. have awesome modm many in earlier small versions. i can run a CC mod but have never tried the CC Mega Mod. I di have to pick and choose what mods I can use with them. I have to limit the size of the windata folder to about 4 GB. but can load over 100 mods doing that. just have to pick and choose which mods.

Thank you very much once again for the valuable tips!

Yes! I'm testing mods that caught my attention and trying to learn more about them by reading the comments. At first, I was adding everything, especially to my saved games. I found out that you can't do that because it causes problems with the save.

Yesterday, I downloaded something called ModMan (Mod Manager), which helps organize mods better.

I think I've reached a point where the people who make mods are a bit tired of fulfilling requests, or maybe I'm just making silly requests. Maybe one day I'll have a good enough mind to make mods, even simple ones, but for now, I'll just keep requesting and trying to understand how people make such mods.

if you can succeed to make and offer a few mods, I will give you access to our database of codes of our mods

I will try to learn, but it will be a bit of a long journey, since it's been many years since I last looked at game code due to many changes in my life.

Thank you very much!  ;D
