Hi! You know now what to expect. Yet another house!
Well, it is not a residential house. It is some sort of shop.
But I wonder what sort of shop it is? ;)
Give me suggestions!
I add a few houses, a storage and maybe I can do something from it.
More stuff on the way, yay!!
That building could be general store. I like store buildings better than open air markets areas.
You don't know what alternate texture I have! :o
:)
A General Store? Same flags as market, I think. Why not?
First it looked like an apothecary but I have just made herbalist.
We will see if there any more suggestions.
Butcher shop maybe?
That looks to me like a place that sells gingerbread. Which I would make out of flour+ginger+honey.
I love this design, the colors and textures are really nice! I think it looks like a small tavern on a lonely country road. Somewhere in the English countryside.. a couple of out buildings around it and you have a cute little village.
How about calling it a Clothier .
Makes farm clothing - Mens Coveralls and Shirts and Boots.
Also ladies dresses, ladies Hats and ladies shoes.
One side of the building is the shop and the other side is the residence.
If you can't make a two-function building, then add a seperate but attachable residence.
The residence "attaches" right next to the "business" forming a row-house type of multi-building with all the same exterior texture but maybe twice as deep for a big family. The indented entry space could be a patio.

Goblin Girl, in case you are eager for gingerbread and you did not know, Kid made a gingerbread maker. It is post number 43 in the Christmas Decoration Mod thread at http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=1347.msg26034#msg26034 (http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=1347.msg26034#msg26034)
What Kid is showing in this new thread here looks like a place that might sell gingerbread, but, one could make the gingerbread in Kid's already made gingerbread making mod, and that would then be sold in the small town general store that I imagine this new building to be. :)
Wow, and here I wondered if you were awake!
Thanks for input. I better start building a village. :)
All have nice ideas and I see there is a need for variation.
If you're patient with me there will be more.
This one can stay general store.
Butcher, might as well do a baker too.
No gingerbread, sorry. That is Christmas stuff. Will come in december.
Clothier. I want that but the traders already have a hard time.
Men's and lady's garment could go for some 'town attire' but I am limited
to what the game offers. I can not do anything about it. :(
I don't want to make more duplicates with new name.
Hmmm. Tavern. Makes me think. :) I maybe make another building as tavern.
Start of a new week. I will work on this when I have the time.
Once again thank you!
Put a tailor, blacksmith, and some kind of jam maker and baker, make it a real "General Store" instead of general store being just a storage option.
Here are some ideas for buildings/shops . They don't need to be functional but can be used as a living space requiring additional building materials. Some sort of decoration or signage could be used to set them apart.
- Wig Maker (Hair Salon/Powder Maker)
- Cobbler/Cordwainer (two versions - city/village and plantation)
- Printer/Binder/News Stand
- Post Office
Wig Maker. :D
I like that! It should be in Wild West where I have all those houses with signs.
I like the idea of having some (not all) of the houses seeming like a business, such as you did in the Wild West mod, Kid. A post office is a good "disguise" for a house.
A jam making building would be good too (that does made edible jam), if it is smaller than the one you made for the Gothic Farm mod- that thing is huge! I would like one in proportion to the Granny Park houses, which happen to be the same proportion as the smaller houses in the Gothic Fantasy mod and the small Stone House. Or at least please make the new items somewhere between the proportions of the Granny Park homes and the larger sized mods you have made (such as the larger sized Wild West buildings) so it could fit in well with both building scales. There are mods of various proportions and some buildings from one size just do not go at all with sets made the opposite size.
(By the way, the Granny Park houses blend in nicely on the same "block" of homes with those houses from the happy/lighter version of the Gothic Fantasy and the small Stone House. :) )
A tavern would be nice too. Like a local pub, to go along with the "corner grocery store" (as opposed to the giant whole city market).
Thanks so much for deciding to make us, your loyal fans, some more buildings! ;D This is so great!! :D
Why not make it a coffee grinding factory/store -- it would be a natural addition to the coffee bean glass house in your B&B mod
;D I will have to make a 'best of' mod like RK.
There are so many possible combination with my small mods I would have
to include them all. Not a prospect I am looking forward to.
I hear your wishes and if I only take it slow it will be fun to do this.
Have anyone considered a name for it? 'Town Houses' sounds so regular...
Regarding a name, I am thinking of this as a neighborhood area, shops and services for a small area of homes within the the larger city. I am not sure what you envisioned. With my thought, the name could be something with word "neighborhood" There are many mods with "town" and "village" in the name, so "neighborhood" is good word to use. That also conveys it does not have large production chains or giant storage enough for the whole map or a humongous market.
'Neighborhood' needs a distinction like 'old' or 'new'.
It could be 'happy' too :) I'll sleep on it.
'Peaceful", "quaint", "pleasant", "friendly"

hehe you would also like me have alot of work to do ^^ you are so ... prolific ?? not sure how to write that word
Definitely 'friendly'. I like the sound of it.
In this Friendly Neighborhood I will take some shortcuts. Re-use models and so on.
I will start writing code for it so that I have a solid base when I want to test.
Then Blacksmith and Tailor. With some accessories on the outside.
Later Baker and Butcher. Same here, I put some things to define them.
A Tavern is also very much needed to make it friendly. :)
I do not want to spam the game with new things. It will be standard production menus.
I just can't stop thinking about your reaction to second texture. :o ;D ::)

@RedKetchup - I think the right word is obsessed! ;D ;D ;D
This is as much real to me as my Real Life.
I sometime complain about it, taking so much time, but I don't want to be without it!
I will not make a 'best of' mod. At least not yet. I change my modlist all the time and
I update old mods, create new... It would be the work of my life-time to keep such a big mod running.
I think it is good to test.
Friendly Neighborhood - I like that name. :)
To begin with - 2 house, one small storage and a shop (market)
Now you may wonder why I am smiling.
There is texture variant for all on f-key.
You have to see it yourself!
though i am late, can i make a suggestion? turn off the misc storage option to the market. this will prevent them from storing RED's fertilizer and fodder.i think perfumes is sent to trading posts so this shouldn't cause anyone trouble. i wonder if we should use a different flag for water also since it doesn't have any nutritional value.not that we should fix it in mods already made.
@brads3 - You mean the so called 'trade' flag (Custom 7) ?
OK, I will delete it. No fertilizer in store. :)
No, don't store fertilizer with food. Yuk :D
Kid, such a joyous day that you let us download part of your project! :) :D ;D I totally LOVE that shade of blue on the second f key variable!! There are so many shades of blue but you found a beautiful shade! :-* Gorgeous! It goes perfectly with the Granny Park roof tiles, the pinkish tones of the Stone buildings, and it also goes nicely with brown shades of your other buildings. Some shades of blue I don't think look so good with brown, but your shade does!

For sure reuse models of previous mods you made. I, and likely others, want various wall and roof colors for buildings already in existence. I don't want a collection of a great many small number of buildings all completely different architecturally so that they look too different to be in the same neighborhood, and then one only gets maybe 2 or 3 different wall and roofs. Then the whole neighborhood is too much the same when you get up to 20 or more houses in the same town area.
Yes, have a few different styles of architecture, but then within those, more wall and roof texture options. So, please, reuse away with basic building shapes you already made.
I try to give as much I can to make buildings match.
It is sometimes boring to do the same again and again so
some variation will sneak in.
As example - I am not happy with tailor and smith.
Too much the same as many other buildings. I ran out of ideas.
If I can find the time I will change them. Or maybe keep them
as 'small' and add proper larger buildings for smith and tailor.
Nice, I like the color :)
The color fits many of my houses.
Only, it is a bit oversaturated. I like it that way.
Here is next installment. :)
A baker.
I think it would be good if the tailor and smith had a roof over their work area, so they can continue working even if it rains or snows.
I like the baker building. :) Though, it seems it would be better if the door was under the roof overhang. That way, in a deep snowfall, it is easy to open the door instead of having to crawl out the window.
along with GRANNY'S idea maybe add a pile or table with some mixed tools that the smith is "repairing".garden rakes, shovels, etc same idea with the tailor a covered table that bannies "drop off" items to be mended at. with different types of clothes on the table. you could add a A-framed atand to clean deer hides instead of a clothesline and a small barrel to put the fat they clean off into.maybe a pile of logs and stone, etc on the ends of the blacksmith.
Two good points. Roof with tailor / smith is possible.
Move the door on bakery, no...
I have the overhang to place the produced goods. I never thought of snow. :)
(the door moves inward) ;)

Oh, of course, the doors open inward. ::) I know when it gets to be a problem- when one has a screen door as well that open outwards. Ok, never mind.

What!? They have to scrape fat of the hides!? Gross! ??? In my game, the skins fall neatly off the deer after the deer is killed.
where you get them deer? walmart?
OK.
@galensgranny - I made some changes. (I rebuilt them)
Way better tailor and smith! Thanks for your suggestion!
They were too small but I didn't want to make a large unwieldy building.
looks good and I like the colour :)
Much better now! :)
Love the color on these!
Glad you like them. I thought the colors would shock you.
Well, I tested and I am glad I did. :)

it will be nicely go with Colorful Little Houses :)
So you want more colors? :D
No, just kidding. I would be too much.
But I like the variation.
yeah adding colors sometimes does nice variation :)

I didn't know! Thanks for the link.
Instead of hanging sausages from the roof of the butcher I decided to put up a sign
and I did so on baker too.
:) I like those signs, very nice and neat. Eager to see the whole set.
good idea. hanging food attracts bears which scares the cats so they quit chasing away mice from the barns.
It's good like that, with a sign and not hanging meats outside.
And so...
Finally the tavern. Small and friendly. :)
It is very nice, small and friendly!
