i'd be happy to hear how the edges look in the snow. if it works out could it be made to stretch like a field?

@brads3 you can't see it in the snow... it is invisible ;).

This is made as a simple building. I guess it would be possible to have an invisible stretchable field... but I don't know how to make a field that does't act as a crop field.

Thank you for this. Could you also make one that is passable and buildable on road tiles? The reason I ask is that it would be good to be able to stop foresters planting trees right in front of buildings without having to build a road on every square.

Boy, one empty square just isn't enough these days.

I've added a passable empty square now as well and updated the mod. Let me know that it works.

Feel free to make empty rectangles in various sizes. 1x3, 1x4, 1x5...

Just kidding. And thanks again for the passable version.  :)

@Necora well, this is just fantastic.  I placed the empty square on the whole pond and no one walks thru it now.  I placed it on one side of the workplace picket fence and no one walks thru it now.  I would like to see it more accessible on the tool bar though, I am sure it will be used a lot.   Also want to say the deco trees are fantastic also and love the blue flax, driftwood too.  thank you so much for wonderful additions to the game.  :)

@elemental well, a few more sizes probably wouldn't hurt. I do want to try the stretchable field type thing that @brads3 mentioned.

@Abandoned glad it works! I was trying to think of the best place for it on the toolbar, where do you think? In the 'remove' section of the vanilla toolbar? Glad you like the other decos too!

@brads3 , @Abandoned , @elemental ... I have updated the emptiness once more. It is expanding! And expandable. We now have an empty field. Place like a crop field, but does nothing once placed apart from prevent stuff from growing. This should be easier than constantly placing 1x1 tiles. Now you can direct bannies with the impassible tiles, make small areas with the passable tiles, and use the empty field to block of large swaths of land from unwanted growth.

Cool!

@Necora in the remove section of vanilla tool bar was my thought too, I think it will be used quite a bit so where ever you decide it's location will be easily remembered. The stretchable field is what slink's lawns are but not invisible, that would be nice to have and would probably eliminate the need for other sizes since it is custom size.

Deco pieces really have me looking forward to trying your other sets, the maritime trees are wonderful.  :)

my thought exactly, great thank you @Necora  :)

Oh, it is not impassible though, so the pond would still need either a fence or added empty square and a fence would still need a row of single empty squares, but the empty field passible field is good, would a impassible one be possible.  Oh, I didn't have a tree sprout in the pond but I suppose that would have been possible. Like those driftwood trees.   :)

No the field isn't impassible. I'm not sure that it can be, I can't see anything in the template to change that would make it so. I think it will have to be a case of using the empty pieces around the edge where needed to stop the bannies.

I haven't used it yet so I'm not sure which menu you have put them in, but I agree that the vanilla Remove toolbar would be the perfect place for these handy little tools.

And now my foresters will be banned from planting trees in front of buildings. I usually leave a strip of plain grass squares between buildings and road, and the foresters can't help themselves and clog them up with unwanted trees. Not any more! (evil laughing smiley)

I feel empty and then @Necora  releases an empty square?  ::)

Now I feel even more empty.  :(

But seriously. That empty square is pretty handy. I think it is something similar to Cossacks Collision part of his Fountain Mod?

@Necora I was wondering ...
I was reading an old thread over on BL (http://blackliquidsoftware.com/index.php?/topic/459-williamsburg-re-created-aka-new-williamsburg/&do=findComment&comment=1718) with another player and talking about the ground texture when the terrain is terraformed in game and it leaves the stretched brown textures, yuck!

Is there any way that somehow this can be adapted to show a grass texture, or even a soil texture as well?
Perhaps even ghosted 'grass' pieces, in chunks, so other things can still be built on them, gardens etc, and housing foundations.  say in 1x1; 1 x2; 1x3 and the same in 2 x 2; 2x3; 2x4 and then they can be built up into larger sections, or small tiny 'break thru' areas in house corners etc.

It's just a random idea :) Thanks for reading :)

(I know that Kral released a mini mod that transforms the entire map to grass, but for what I'm thinking of, that's a little overkill :D  It's just too bad that the terraform mod can't be adapted to also have a 'terraform to grass texture' :(  that's a game limitation, so I'm trying to think on work arounds :D )

by adding a decal footprint to his tool that will be a .png from a screenshot a 64x64 should be enough with instead brown footprint : green grass painted.

old mods, slink lawn and slink rough lawn, place like crop field, one looks like grass, one looks like pasture.

@QueryEverything you know there are plenty of ghost squares out there that have grass textures for this purpose. CC has them, they are not only road tiles but also vanilla terrain texture... I'm not sure what you want that is different?

@Necora thanks for the reply, I've used the CC tiles, but when I'm covering a huge area after terraforming, it takes ages to backfill the tiles, whereas it only takes seconds to use your new "An Empty Square" set :)

In the screenshots, you can see what I mean, back filling a terraformed area, under a transparent pasture ...
Your multi-stretch one, goes under the pasture :)  I've checked, but, it too is transparent, haha.  :)

So, the question comes back to:  is it possible to have these new sets created, but with a grass texture please, to fill in those large areas, and some tiny areas, please :)

And another question, why are there nearly 40 tile deep borders on small and medium maps ...  ugggggghhhhhhhh ...  hahaha ;)
(not seriously needing an answer, it's just a ridiculous amount of wasted space ;) )
