Title: A maths problem
Post by: Boris_amj on May 25, 2014, 06:31:19 PM
Possibly one of the most deranged British programs ever: http://vimeo.com/13497928

Pay attention at problem 1 at around 2:45.
I have transcribed it for the hard of hearing:

Jean is shorter than Brutus but taller than Imhotep.
Imhotep is taller than Jean, but shorter than Lord Scotland.
Lord Scotland is twice the height of Jean and Brutus combined but only one-tenth of the height of Millsy.
Millsy is at a constant height of x − y.
If Jean stands exactly one nautical mile away from Lord Scotland, how tall is Imhotep?

The answer is rather obvious, I know.

Have you noticed all the settings in the calculator?

Check it at 6:20.

I prefer British tele to much of the drivel that passes for programming in the US, I just wish the BBC had the budget some of these US shows get.

That vid reminds me of an old math riddle I used to tell:

If a hen and a half laid an egg and a half in a day and a half, how would it take a cricket with a wooden leg to kick the seeds out of dill pickle?
