Should I be embarrassed to admit I kind of like Michael Bay movies? ??? And sports would be more exciting with these kinds of special effects -- or are they really exploding?

No, not really exploding! :)

Michael Bay movies are fun. Not realistic, but fun, if you can ignore the annoying parts.
