I haven't been able to find a stand-alone gridlines mod. I know gridlines are part of Megamod but I'd like to use grids with RKEC. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
The standalone Gridlines from BlackLiquid's new website still isn't listed yet, they only got a few mods in their new download section. I have a copy of it if you wish or I can point you to one that
@kid1293 made.
From the Infamous Curved Roads (http://worldofbanished.com/index.php?topic=2702.msg55708#msg55708) thread.
I'm becoming biased I think. ;)
Kid's is much better! Use his. 8)
there is no real grid. the way i made mine back in time, on 1 map.... the modder need to take the ground texture and manually draw the lines by hand and draw it inside the ground texture itself.....
Ahhh... the good ole days!
I think back then people still used to light their homes with candelabras, right Red? :P (teasing)
@MarkAnthony Thanks for the link to Kids but that isn't what I'm after. But thank you.
@RedKetchup Thanks for the info. I'll abandon the idea. Just thought it might be easier to layout town planning.

oh it is easier. i loved it too. the other thing about this, it can double the map choices selection (the little box you open and choose a map) like RKEC has like a dozen of different textures which has plain, mountain, valley, lakes settings each texture... you double all this.

I don't understand how it's not what you are asking for. It has a gridlines component in it sized 25x25 tiles. And you can place as many of them down at once as you wish.

@MarkAnthony This image shows exactly what I'm referring to. It's one of the loading screens from RKEC 1.3. The grid is subtle and permanently there.
Ah. Well, the one from Kids is not permanent, and neither is the standalone from BlackLiquid I don't believe. In fact the one from BlackLiquid has this weird block thing in the center for placing and removing the grid.
I guess we can only hope RedKetchup will release his terrains as a standalone mod someday.
Not trying to be argumentative just trying to understand, but why do you want them permanently shown? I mean, after you fill in an area of the grid, why would you want to continually see that grid afterwards?

Just want to try it and be different I guess. If the grid were there over the entire map it might be interesting for further placement of buildings as I slowly work on other areas and could tie in to existing structures :)
Okay thanks Moonbelf.
It would be nice if the gridlines were built into the game itself with a toggle switch to turn them off and on as needed.

Agreed
but , i experimented many hours on a grid map (like the screenshot included in RKEC). i can say it gives really something to the game 3D. you will see a lot clearer the ground and all its forms. the line follow all holes and all mounts, it really give you an exact estimation of the topology simply by visualizing what your eyes are seeing :)
oh and the question about making an RKEC XtraLight-GRID.....
i need to think if i want to do that or not LOL

@RedKetchup I think it probably would be a lot of work for you so I understand your hesitation to do it. But ... it would be amazing! *hugs*
Attached is the old CC gridlines mod from 2016
@Glenn Thanks for the attachment! Will this work with 1.0.7?
LOL
@moonbelf :D
I offered that file to you in the very first reply to this thread of yours.
ummm sorry lmao
Does it work with 1.0.7?
Yes Moonbelf, it works just fine with Banished 1.0.7.
The one Glenn linked to you is the same version as the one I was going to offer you so just grab his since it's already linked. It's a small mod 1.2 MB in size.
Just letting you know, it's non-permanent just like Kids RadiusTemplate mod that I showed you in my screenshot. They are both 25x25 tiles wide and they both are not faded yellow grid lines, they're very bold and bright meant for temporary use. The BlackLiquid version has three differences than Kids:
- It has a square block in the center of the grid for placing down & removing the grid. If you accidentally put the block inside of a building you cannot remove the grid. I'm guessing you would need to destroy the building first to remove the grid. BlackLiquid's grid is found in the vanilla Gear icon menu; Kid's is found in the Roads menu since it was designed to help build circular roads.
- It doesn't include anything else other than the grid itself. Kid's includes the main 25x25 grid and ghosted grids with radius circles at various widths for extra utility.
- BlackLiquid's version of the grid allows you to click the building footprints you placed down while the grid is still active; unfortunately with Kid's you cannot click the building footprints until after you remove the grid. The workaround with Kid's is to place the grid, drop your building, remove grid to open building UI window and then place the grid again. Still very easy.

@MarkAnthony Thank you for the confirmation and the screenshot.
Glad to help, I hope you find it of use
For anyone interested : RKEditorChoiceEdition XtraLight 1.3.1c - GRID version
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eRdG5tiW3SB8oPi4PjiYa1Z9QttIT_j8/view?usp=sharing (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eRdG5tiW3SB8oPi4PjiYa1Z9QttIT_j8/view?usp=sharing)
you can switch back and forth between XtraLight GRID to XtraLight (non-GRID) but not compatible with Full/NoMusic/Light versions cause those have buildings which XtraLight does not have.
enjoy
PS: the grid is at every 2 tiles like i did it back of Peaks' Valley time.
@RedKetchup This is exactly what I'd like. I play with the RKEC full version. Will have to check out what I'd be missing out on if I swtiched to the RKEditorChoiceEdition XtraLight 1.3.1c - GRID version.
Thank you :)

Definitely interested, thank you Red. Though I have been playing your RKEC Full version for quite a while now. I'm playing an RKEC-only game right now as a matter of fact. :P
I could have sworn when I first started playing Banished - I had someone's mod that had a bunch of normal maps and then they had their grid versions too. I thought it was yours Red. The very first RKEC version I tried was RKEC Lite but last night I loaded all of your RKEC versions, even loaded CC and none of them had the grid maps. Who was it that had a bunch of the grid maps do you know?
I still think it was you Sir! :)
Oh and being able to switch back and forth between grid and non-grid will be handy; thanks for that too!
Just checked it out Red, thanks a bunch! To be honest, at first I thought you zipped up the former non-gridded version because when you select a new game, the map selection doesn't indicate they are with grid lines. I loaded a map and all was well, grids and all.
Waiting for Santa Red to put the grids into RKEC Full. :P I'm patient, I'll wait.
