Title: Searching an English to German translator person :)

As the title explicite it , i am Searching an English to German translator person :)
a person who is good in both language to translate some of my mods into german :)

i would submit some text files and the person would need to translate the sentences or words into appropriate equals in german :)

any volunteer ? :)

Mein Deutsch ist ziemlich gut, wenn du kein andere finden kannst.

But I am really out of practice. I would be pretty slow, and if there is a large volume of text, it would take me some time.

I think there are at least a couple of native German speakers out there?

lets see if there is some natives :)

there is not alot of text / words. it is for translating mods into german for my german fans :)

If I'm not mistaken @Paeng is German, though I don't know whether he is open to translation work. There may be others around who are native speakers. I once knew German pretty well, but my skill has slipped badly.

I'm not German but have lived there for 15 so I speak/write German decent (perhaps not 100% perfect, the grammar is evil, but better than English).

So, if that's enough for your purpose, send me the textfiles and I will give it a try.

you only do right column and you dont do any of the lines starting with a //

( a // tells the compiler to not care of what is next to it - they are strictly place holders in my file ^^)

this file control the tooltips and the name that appear in the window like : New Medieval Residence :)

oh notepad

right click and choose open with and select your regular windows notepad :)
they are regular simple .txt file :) the developper prefered and gave them an unique .rsc extension but they are simple ansi txt :)

Although I speak German because it is my native language. But my english is really cruel. I should be more careful in the school.
For a real conversation in English I have to rely on the google translator.
That's why I would be particularly for a german version of all Red Ketchup mods.

The rest is in the attachment. I'm sorry @Brathaehnchen or other German people, there might be some grammatical or spelling mistakes but i suppose it's understandable. (Vielleicht kann mir dann auch jemand sagen ob es der, die, oder das Mod heisst. Davon habe ich keine Ahnung. Hab das Wort gemieden :-[ )

Sorry, I can't make the notepad-file as an attachment. What should I do? I have no program to make it a zip. Maybe I can e-mail it to you @RedKetchup.

yeah you can mail or you can also just add a .txt after the .rsc, the forum will take it :)

@Brathaehnchen : what @Nilla has written, does it make sense ? is there any spelling mistakes ?

if it is all good, 1 will add it and do a german Beta version :)

I do not know exactly what you mean @Nilla.
But it is called in German "Die Mod" because mod is short for modification.

Well, @RedKetchup translation is not my favorite occupation. I can say so much.

But for you I would do some more, maybe not tonight but tomorrow, if you want me to.

Or wait first and see what the real German says. If he approves, send the files.

i just posted them, 5 mins ago. nobody said anything so far. if you want to do one... just reply about you are taking this one, and post back the results + the 2 sentences i've put (they need to be translate too). you can post or you can send in PM , up to you.

just try to let other people know which one you are doing, so you dont overlap your work.
you can also quote the english original one.

after i will need to find a little .jpg or .png to copy paste in the preview image to show that it is a german version of the mod :) (like Darkibou did for the french version of my mods) :)

I can translate em for ya after the weekend.  I will not ever use software in Dutch if there is an (original) English version. I'm so used to American English software since my first PC-8088, i can hardly find anything in Dutch Windows or Office ;)

there are some mods i really need to redo

i dunno if it is 'my files' that are completly messed up , or i did really released like that .... but some are totally wrong.

adrianna library has an adrianna college as graphic but with balcony.... and the college units are totally wrong, people are going like half across the map to go put the resources on the ground when they should go exactly where is the footprint on the ground. (like 120 tiles away from the footprint)

my littlehouse, isnt the same i had, it was an experiment with other roof tiles... i need to find the good one.

also my creamery, isnt the good skin, it was my OLD v 1.0 skin ^^

i need to make a good sweep and organize again my files and my back ups

Nah.. your mods provided a huge diversity in the game, without getting a bloated game.
even the 'vanilla' buildings aren't perfect graphics wise..

Btw, i found a small typo in the colorful little houses :

Hmmm, almost done with the translation of the mods,
did have some time...  thanks insomnia ;) ... Decorative Items is the last one.

Had some trouble with finding a correct translation for creamery..  before the 'dairy factory'  farmers did it all themselves,  then with the start of cooperations, all they did is bring milk to the factory.. so not a real creamery in Dutch and the word kaasmakerij (cheese "factory" doesn't cover the products enough)

Same goes for Root Cellar.. most stored in a basement/cellar in home/farm..  there are some cave like structures here, which are used for farming mushrooms.. not for storage, so i looked at the German translation.. and that one comes closest to a word used in pre 1900's.

One thing i do wonder about.. do we have to be consistent with a general language mod (for the basic game), or do we need a good translation?

In the Dutch translation available for banished they use welzijn (fr: bien-être / de: Wohlfahrt / en : welfare) for 'Happiness'..  it's not a bad translation, but i think 'vreugde' ( fr: joie / de: Freude / en: joy)  comes closer to the real meaning in the game...

Any thoughts about that ?

yes wohlfart ( welfare etc.)  does have a bad annotation.. satisfaction is close to happiness and joy too and a much better translation. 'Te-vreden-heid' which is  zu-frieden-heit

Usually friends and family come to me to ask language related stuff ;) @Trizeropz has had the best option with 'zufriedenheit' in German, so i'll use the Dutch version of that, which comes very close to the meaning of happiness/satisfaction level in the game.

Decorative items one was by far the hardest, not the amount.. but the new spelling rules in Dutch.. Ugh. Between the time i learned to spell certain compound words and now the spelling rules have changed at least 3 times.. current spelling sucks ;)

in most internet offers in here, in canada, we usually have 'limited' amount of GB of transfert per month. the totally unlimited one are very very costly and usually reserved to companies.

yeah it is because in a 1 mile square (or km square) you have 100X more people to compare here so same internet is 80$ per month.

Wow. thats just basically the phone (or the TV, or the DSL) alone over here. and i'm located at one of the most populated areas of a quite densely populated country.

i remember FiDo telephony in Canada.. you had to pay "air time" for every second you used the phone, even if someone was calling you :O

i was wondering, do you need to recompile each time for a different language?
or is it possible to add your original mod (english)  with a translation mod after it,
like the original game strings are translated? 
that would save you a lot compile time and hassle i presume.

yes need to recompile each time in a different folder (to keep my original in english ^^)
you would need anyways to compile the translations anyways, and it would double the amount of mods people would have , 1 with translation, 1 for the mod features

Well what about adding all RedKetchupTM mod strings into one 'translation' mod.
so there's only one mod / stringlist to update per language and would only be one extra mod for a user to load instead of double.

unfortunately i found this forum after the start of my city, so i would have to blog all the years before (was at year 81). i have no time and desire to make it up. so the village blog wont go on. but after my village now i do a new and blog with a better seed and try the 5k.
im now at 3,9k and economy is alright. but no space left for more crops or fishermens. so the next occupants let the food-graph droppin:D maybe i can get to 4,1k or 4,2k.

if you care i could put some screenshots in my village blog with town hall and the whole map:)

man! 5K ..   
both my AMD Phenom hexacore and Intel I7 quadcore have problems with 1200+ citizens..
(most likely due to the absence of real monster video card )

i can't imagine playing with more than that :O
