Maybe I am still very adolescent at the age of 50... But when I just started a new map and saw the town name I spat out my tea in laughter! :D ;D

I always wondered what the English were thinking when they named one of their towns "Middlesex".

On the off chance you're not joking and actually want an answer, it's Saxon. Essex = East saxons. Wessex = west saxons. Middlesex = middle saxons. It's not a very entertaining answer, sadly.
