Mayor's Report:
Now that we've acquired a mass of barley, we will begin the distillation of whiskey as soon as the shop is constructed. The second port will be started this year, though not likely completed until next year. We're also planning for more storage and firewood production.

Given the uncertainty of our colony and overall dominionship in recent times, we had postponed the scheduled elections. Now that peace is assured, this year we will hold an election for a 3 seats on the council. They will be for a 3, 4 and 5 year term respectively this first time, then every 3 years after.

Mourning the loss of Dayle Haak, killed in a quarry accident in the Early Spring of 1677

torgonius

1678
Mayor's Report:
Last year started on a very down note with the death of one of our native sons to an accident in the quarry. We all mourned his passing.

Later that spring, though, we acquired almost all of the raw materials we needed to fuel our next expansion. We now have cows and chickens to expand our livestock, and we have hemp, barley, grapes and maple seeds to expand our agricultural base. We were also able to purchase a large store of building materials. It may take years to replenish our export stock.

All 3 council members were unopposed in the election held in the fall. Collison Fortuin will serve 3 years, Andro Haak 4 years and Ishaad Bakker 5 years.

Looking towards downtown over the new cattle pasture

Mayor's Report:
The town is poised for explosive growth. The trading posts have been mostly replenished, though we will need to limit exports of some needed supplies for the time being. Storage for hemp should be completed, and our new ropery industry begun.

More firewood is needed, and the logs to make it. A cache of iron in the lands being cleared in the north will replenish that stock. 2 new mines will be constructed in the near future.

The seeds of a wine making trade are also in place, with massive orchards marked out in the northeastern corner of town. New pastures are being constructed to serve as temporary homes to animals should the need arise. The addition of cows means we will need a diary to turn milk into other products.

My dear friend Ishaad Bakker had been visiting his son at the quarry when a stone broke loose and crushed him. This marks consecutive years that a life has been lost there. Xzavie Eikenboom was elected to fill his seat on the council. It was also decided that when we reach citizens, the individual seats will be split for a total of 6 seats, with 2 to be up for election each year.

Esto Carman will begin working with Reillye Aarden to create a town history.

Mayor's Report:
We have fully transitioned to being a Dutch town in an English colony. Relations with the English are strong. We have continued to grow and still have plenty more room for expansion and production.

The royal cartographer will make a new map of Esopus and the surrounding area sometime after 1690. He's been pretty busy with all the recent upheaval.

Mayor's Report:
Collison Fortuin was re-elected for another 3 year term, running unopposed. I suppose there won't be much competition for council seats until the next wave of the children of our settlers are ready to run for office.

We've completed a dairy and are now offering our citizens an option to the regular old hardtack everyone tolerates. We're producing both cheese bread and fruitcake on alternating basis. We're also ready to expand our production of exports. The Zuiderzuin family will take their try at making wine from our local grapes and strawberries. We have both in abundance. We're also hoping to buy some barley or potato seeds so that we can begin to distill spirits.

Land clearance continues to the north and west of town. We will need to purchase a large amount of coal and stone to fuel our growth, or accept another wave of settlers. While we don't expect any graduations in the coming year, there are a large group of children ready to begin school.

Reserves of food and supplies continue to stay strong. I look forward to planting more fields once the seeds are available.

Looking at the beginning of Zuiderzuin Vineyards

Mayor's Report:
Andro Haak handily won re-election to his council seat.

A visit from Dangela allowed us to trade for much needed raw materials. We have mostly exhausted the trees, stone and native iron in the vicinity of the downtown market. Aggressive expansion will begin with the first that as we build up the new vineyard area with storage buildings and housing.

Even though the main town is not yet much more than half completed, we're beginning to study the area for further expansion. The leading contenders are the area directly south on the river, as we could expand with many more ports, and the area to the lake in the northwest.

Mayor's Report:
Xzavie Eikenboom retained his council seat, beating back his brother Lutheridan in the first contested elction in the history of Esopus. There was no bad blood between them, and Lutheridan said he would support his younger brother when delivering his concession speech.

Expansion continues in Esopus. The Zuiderzuin Vineyard is nearing completion. All tha remains is the construction of some housing for the area workers and then cosmetic touches. We also built a sugar house to start converting maple sap into maple syrup. I doubt we'll export much of that, as many people want to keep that as a local delicacy.

I expect will supass the 100 adult threshold by year's end. We have many young people nearing graduation age. This will allow us to further expand our production base.

We need to expand our gathering of logs. The entirety of the town has been nearly clearcut. We have identified 2 possible areas which could be used for a sustained logging operation. One is on the island in the center of the North River, the other just south east of town on the other side of the river, just past the hospital.

And advance party has also staked out areas for expansion to the south. We could add as many as 4 more ports, in addition to the 2 we have now and the third that is being planned. We've also gotten word that we may receive our first ocen going vessel soon.

Mayor's Report:
Collison Fortuin was re-elected to the council, running unopposed. He says that this will be his last term in office.

Aggressive expansion continues, as we've acquired more resources, and I've been told we'll be receiving another wave of settlers in a few months to augment our recent local graduates.

We will focus on additional housing this year, as well as some more resource production. Zuiderzuin Vineyard's wines have been well received down river, and they asked to have even more produced this year.

Health and morale have never been higher here in Esopus. This truly has become a town where anyone can come and work hard and prosper.

Mayor's Report:
Our influx of new settlers has provided the manpower needed to continue expansion. We're also expecting the arrival of at least a half dozen new babies by mid-year.

We'll add more housing, as well as facilities to produce tobacco. We weren't sure it would grow well here, but it seems to have taken root. We have more raw tobacco than we can process here. We'll look to trade it away for more vital resources while we continue to add buildings to cure our own. We have not yet made enough for export, but it is certainly being enjoyed at the local inn.

Andro Haak was unopposed in his re-election bid. He has also declared this will be his final term in office.

Plans have been drawn up for southern expansion. We'll be adding more bridges over the North River and begin to clear land further away from the shore.

In other news, New York is now officially a province of the British Empire as our proprietor is now King James II. The constitution the colony had put in place was declared void. It's not yet know how this will affect relations or our status, but for now, all remains the same.
