Well, I've been thinking a lot about your problem. What about angling the front and back walls of the house model instead of angling the whole building? Of course, on a 2x2 footprint.

Turis
You mean that all connecting walls should be straight?
That should work. Where were you 2 weeks ago? :)

Now I have all my models and are writing the code,
I keep my buildings angled but if somone else is reading:
Take that seriously!

I think it's possible to build different buildings with a minimum
of tampering with the footprints. An angled frontwall should give
at least one roadtile!

Ha! Very nice!

The angled row houses seem to be working fine for me. Families are moving in, no problems so far.  My current game is probably nearing it's end and there is not a lot of space left for expansion in my current city.

I'll probably wait to try the final update in my next town. I have simply been adding your updates into my saved games as I go, is it okay to do it with this final one? I only ask because if you are updating textures and such to existing models I'm not sure how that will affect a current game.

Anyway, great job with all of this. Thank you! Your work is appreciated. :)

@Kimbolton - I try as much as I can (up to this point) to keep
old things without disturbing them. So, i guess it is always save-game
compatible. If I should bring any new (as in different) textures to old buildings I will
try to warn you. Things like that can slip my mind though.

And a (very small) heads-up for your idea about two-story angled buildings,
but they will take a lot of time if I continue...

Discrepancy

Diagonal houses are looking good. Gives a realistic look to some towns, particularly helpful when building on a peninsula in CC water world map.

Great work as always  :)

I have an Idea. how about a building a road can go through?

kid1293

@liberty152 - Great idea!
But I have trouble with all my angled buildings.
I can not have a road through every building.
I don't want the line of rowhouses to look like a Swiss cheese.

But good thinking, in extreme cases a road can be the solution. :)

liberty152

I didn't mean through them. just one of the normal houses. CC has one. just thought yours could use one.

Like a gate to the inner center?

Could be handy if you build continuously long rows.  ;D

I will test.

Awesome, works great! Didn't break anything, except the right angle grid of course.  :)

Also the house with a gate would be very useful. Especially for the two-story set. It would be nice to have a proper entrance to the courtyard when you build a continuous city block with the row houses.

Been thinking.  ;)

Will texture tomorrow and then continue with 2-storey angled houses.
Sometime I will try 2-storey endhouses too, both straight and angled.
